I agree, I think it's a good way to demonstrate to people what's going on and demonstrate real situations where these maneuvers are used. Honestly, just knowing what a lag roll and a high yo-yo is and knowing that you should need to actually drop your tanks will put you above like 75% of the playerbase.

Recently started getting into the cold war jets after getting the Mirage F1. Before flying that thing I've always taken what you have been saying about cold war jets having a "soul" with a grain of salt, just a phrase of someone that dislikes fly-by-wire systems, as someone who has mostly flown the F-15C, F/A-18 and the F-16. But now I get it, the F1 made me fall in love with itself the same way the woman of my life did: It doesn't always agree with me, I have to put in effort, I have to learn how to fly it. But when I do everything correctly, it rewards me with the most pleasant and fun experience, understands what I want to do with it and helps me in accomplishing that. Thanks Enigma for getting me to buy that old French rustbucket.

F1 mirage is fuckin great I cannot wait for the kfir to come to DCS... Basically a F1 and m2000 had a baby. On DDCS I use it and have taken out 3 x f16s with it lmfao. If you fly hugging the ground mach1+ you can even get into the enemy airbases and take out there Sam sites. The other day I killed almost 15 accusations on there airfield with 6x Samp400HD It was the most insane moment I've had in DCS. I gotta upload that clip lol. But yea F1 mirage and cw jets are sooo much fun and rewarding to kill things with vs a f18 and TGT pod. I kinda wish they did the f1EQ we would have gotten a f1ee with a tv and TGT pod and a laser designator...
Friendly tip for reversals: If you can see enemy well, wait for his lag to to start switching to lead. This way you do not give him the passing opportunity as with premature reversal.

Your success in that plane is dependent on others being stupid. If you get in trouble turn. If someone is extending you can use missiles to scare them to turn and then you can catch up.

However I’d really like to figure out the nuances between the manual and automatic ranging for the gun sights, especially at lower altitudes i understand the radar gets picks up ground clutter. Should I set the radar range all the way to minimum? And yes I know practice makes perfect 🤩 ✈️
I’m a big fan of your server, and along with Tempest Blue it’s one of my first choices for a really good and immersive mission. As a bit of feedback though, I’ve noticed that it’s starting to get very one sided. The last few times I’ve joined, red has been hammering blue and the numbers are in the order of 25 v 6 in favour of red. Even though I prefer to fly red, I cannot in good conscious join the overwhelmingly op red when there’s only half a dozen players on blue, so II join blue. What tends to happen next however is that I spend the next 30 minutes or so cold starting only to be shot down as soon as my wheels leave the tarmac. It seems that there’s a core of players that refuse to fly one side or another, which is their choice I suppose, but I feel that something needs to be done to address these imbalances when they occur. The only two suggestions that I can make, is to somehow block players from joining the side with the fewer players once a certain ratio has been reached, and I’m aware that a lot of people won’t have the modules for the opposing side, but in my mind people should be able to fly both sides, and ED have regular sales so one or two more planes won’t break the bank. Failing this, my other suggestion is to temporarily unlock the premium planes like the Tomcat and the Fulcrum to all players on the overwhelmed side once a certain ratio has been reached, to give the struggling side a bigger stick to fight back with. I don’t know if such changes can be made on a server such as yours, but the current imbalances are a game breaker to me. The player numbers shift in different time zones. We will run ourselves ragged tweaking things endlessly. At the end of the day, we have to know if the scenario is balanced. If it is, then it is up to the players to organize themselves to balance the player numbers. The attrition mechanic helps the lower pop team. I do not believe in forcing people to play one side, especially in this game where the cost of modules is so expensive.
I have the same issue and it has put me off DCS for a bit (till the F4 drops). It bothers me even more than on the discord you read all these red players bashing blue as if blue is easy mode and always outnumbering (where I don't really read any of the blues bashing the reds when they outnumber). This has put me in the blue team 'permanent', just for attitude sake :P, and because that's the outnumbered side 9/10 times for me. I'll come back when the F4 hits, but suppose the server will be all blue F4's when this happens -.- Are you in European time zone?
@Enigma, I had some recommendations for some alterations you could make on the server to help things feel a little more balanced. First, I recommend you edit overlord to not see targets under 1000ft of radar altitude, but you also make anything above that height (even helicopters) visible to overlord. I feel this would help the Blue primary mud mover (A-10) get to target more consistently to balance the current wave of hinds that do the Red’s mud moving. Second, I feel as if the Mirage F1 on Syria is slightly over performing. They are by no means invincible, especially if you get them slow, but the R530F’s are performing extremely well and rarely miss. This is made worse by the fact that Blue has no equivalent radar guided missile to use for a non-restricted aircraft, unless I am mistaken. The long term fix for this would just to make the F-4 phantom an unrestricted aircraft on Syria and give it slightly worse Sparrows than the Tomcat, but in the short term, maybe the Mirage should be restricted with a cost of 5-10 campaign points? Again, these are just my recommendations, but I feel like this would help to balance the two sides a little more. Over the last month, I can’t remember a rotation where Blue won the map, and things always seem to end with a Red wave of hinds continuously pushing the line back, but are hidden from overlord so fighters cannot interdict as efficiently as the Red fighters can when intercepting A-10’s. Keep up the quality content and thank you for creating such a fun server!
Having overlord be limited by a certain altitude means everyone will fly right at that altitude. The picture will be clear and it will incentivize the wrong behaviour. The player balance quite a bit but at the end of the day. We purposely over-buffed blue at the start because their population seemed newer to the scenario. At the end of the day, we can tweak things based on player stats or we can balance it around capabilities. Players come and go, it is a revolving door. We want to focus our efforts on the scenario not just constantly chasing our tails. At the end of the day, people need to become better. We are focusing our efforts on the V2 scenario. It will be completely different and we will focus our efforts on balancing that scenario. Lastly just so you have a picture, the Mirage F1 CE and Mirage F1EE from a PVP Kills perspective has less overall kills than the F-5. The F1EE makes up just under 2.5% of total a2a kills.

@@Enigma89 interesting, I'll give this a try. It's similar to what I do in squad and Post Scriptum to spot, hold the mouse still and look for movement.
Start by turning your head as far as you ever want to, then set that as like 170° rotation. Then it’s just a case of getting the curve between max behind and straight ahead as gradual as possible within the head turn angle you’ve given yourself.

I freeze my trackir so basically my head is frozen and then I can pick up movements with my eyes. Spotting is terrible in this game. I play on 2k.
