- DCS Multiplayer Ace in a Day on Enigma's Cold War server in the F-5 Tiger II. This is a fun module that really fights a bit differently than the MiGs, so it was neat to spend some more time in this module to stretch my legs and do something different

This channel focuses on combat flight simulators like DCS World and IL-2 Great Battles. If you play either of these games or flight simulators like Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and enjoy aviation and dogfighting then this channel is for you. Even if you are coming from War Thunder and BF2042, you can learn to fly these combat flight simulators.
I play using TrackIR5 and do not use VR, this means that I am able to capture footage for tutorials, how-to-guides and other multiplayer tips and tricks video in 1440p.
Eagle Dynamics has made it easier than ever to learn DCS because the game is technically free. The game has the F-15, F-16, Su-27, Mig-29, Mig-21, Mig-19, Mig-15, F-86 Sabre, Jf-17, Mirage 2000, F-18 Hornet and F-14 Tomcat. There are soon other modules coming such as the Mig-23 and F-4. Lastly, there are helicopters like the Mi-24 Hind and AH-64 Apache.
The same is also true for IL-2 Great Battles. With Battle of Stalingrad, Battle of Kuban, Battle of Bodenplatte, Battle of Moscow and Battle of Normandy being released, there is an immense amount of variety covered. The Bf-109, Fw-190, P-51, Tempest, P-47, Mc.202, Stuka, Ju-88, He-111, and so on are all in the game. I focus on making videos to make that part accessible so you can dive into IL-2 Multiplayer. - เกม

I have worked with the very airplane you are using the skin.
Was that livery for normal use? I was getting some crash dummy vibes with the X on the side.
@@Enigma89 Looks like a test and evaluation paint job. Can't be 100% sure but the RAF have used similar markings on their test aircraft.
That shaking at 0:55 is from high AoA with the flaps Up. Leaving the flaps on Auto will eliminate that until much lower speeds. I think you'll find the plane turns much nicer and maintains energy better in Auto too.
You can also jettison that center pylon by moving the jettison selector to ALL and holding the jettison button down for a few seconds. Just remember to return the jettison selector back to OFF. It's not clear if it actually affects drag but it can't hurt to jettison.
At 9:08, you had a really nice shot lined up with the fixed sight but then I feel the radar sight threw you off.
This will probably go against the grain but I personally prefer defaulting the F-5 to flaps up and then being conscious of when I need to put them into auto. I found that the autoflaps made me slower than I wanted in some cases especially when I wanted to level out and get speed up. I think it may just be my habit of WWII where you can micro-manage your flaps much better instead of picking an auto mode where it can move around without you knowing.

The flat scissors worked great, I am reluctant to use that tactic in fast jets than I am in warbirds, I love using it in the P-51D in IL2 but with a prop you get an almost instant reaction to your inputs. With jets you have to think about 4 moves ahead to make sure you have all the inputs where you want them. That sometimes is just too much for me, hence the reason I am hesitant.
Loving the Cold War servers and they are my go to now in DCS as the structure of it all is just outstanding, so a big thank you for providing such a great server to fly on. I love the F-5E and really must use it a bit more often. Thanks for an awesome video. Take care.
No problem. The one thing I will say is that for Warbirds, you don't have jet engines so in some ways I find that I have to think a lot more than I do in jets. Afterburners and airbrakes let you change your speed so quickly that you can sort of just wing it.

I totally agree that using bad missiles like the 9b, r3s and 3r is interesting- positioning and attack profile can mean everything, and you still have to be a good dog fighter to use them correctly and get a kill
I really enjoy the F1 and watching those scissors at the end made me laugh. He was way too heavy and pulled too hard and too late in the scissors. He thus entered brick mode. You had him before it even started. Nice work!

The F5 is so much fun to fly. Make no mistake though if you're gonna count that as a US jet, it would be of the older generation because it only carries a couple of missiles. Everything's gonna change for cold war when the F4 comes out

It blows my mind how people are so good at keeping visual on targets.
Like with that high yoyo at the beginning you kept eyes on the frogfoot the entire time. I struggle so much to keep visual and I don't know how to improve. Idk if it's because of track ir or what (because my head is turned away from the monitor in order to point at something) but I really have a hard time keeping eyes on something while turning and everything just seems to blend in
You need to set the curves on your Track IR so that you don't have to turn away completely to look.
@@parab225 good point I never really thought of that. I generally just change the "speed" variable and not actually the curves because they're more complicated. Probably not that hard to deal with though and I just need to take the time to do it

VR is so perfect for DCS.
F-5E need some dev love and some big updates, but even so it's a fun little agile plane.
just fixing the damn wings bug would greatly improve it...
@@sparrowlt Wings aren't really bugged, imo, lack of info means it's easier to wing rip, but honestly I only wing rip when I pull insane g deflection shooting, usually it's trivial to avoid ripping your wings.

I like this jet. But suck SO bad in it. Ha. Actually ive spent all my time in WW2 the past few weeks which has helped me in a many ways hone my observation and flying skills. So maybe I'll be better in it now. Will give it a try this weekend.
Could we maybe see some a-4 gameplay soon? I'm struggling currently with using it effectively...

It's not in the immediate plans but I will keep it in mind. I have been flying F-5, MiG-19 and A-4 lately.
How many hours do you have on DCS specifically and flight sims in general? I’d love to know how long it’ll take to get like this
Honestly I don't even know, thousands and thousands of hours across all the flight sims. I learned playing WWIIOL which was one of *the* most competitive games I have ever played and def. by far the most competitive flight sim, I probably sunk at least 5,000 hours into that game. From there my next main squeeze was IL-2. I think playing WWII is really what will get you to be good. There is a joke between a lot of the IL-2 players that we think DCS players don't really know how to do anything beyond interacting with their cockpits and I tend to believe in it. There are a few people who don't play IL-2 and WWII but are really good so they are the exceptions to the rule and not the norm IMO. Jets are just way too forgiving and the raw power of their engines can make up for sloppy flying. If you want to get good then get good in IL-2 which is the premier flight sim for PVP. It's much easier to go from IL-2 to DCS because you will develop much stronger fundamentals.
I hope you keep that map 9B the Sabre truly shines on that map in my opinion. Syria its too old as in it cannot keep up with Fox-1s and lack of RWR.
We will. I think it's a more interesting missile scenario to fly than the aim9p vs r60.

I always wonder why no one ever turns the Tacan volume down… who wants to listen to all that beeping for their entire flight?
didn't even know the radar worked in the F-5, thought it was only for dogfighting ;0;
You can spot helicopters using the radar once you get really good with it.
it works.. but has a really hard time locking from the scope and wont see much if you have dirt at the other side of the targets.. in the dogfight mode tought works wondefully nice.. allways a lock with the push of a button.
Also i wish they would fix the F-5 wingmen radar bug.. on offline with AI wingmen i have them report contacts 120nm away...so clearly the AI radar isnt the same as yours
Do you get any credit for maneuver kills on this server?
I don't think any game really does that anymore. I think the last one that did that was Aces High 2. If you plink someone and crash then yes you get credit.

If i were you i would not use the radar gun sight on every shot especialy when you came on that mig19 if you had a fixed sight you probably would have made the shot
I go through moods where sometimes I will use it non-stop and other times where I will refuse to use it. :(
