Get a lot of questions and some think I'm lying about the temperature (no, I never have). If the title says -30, it should go without saying that that's the LOW for the trip...the temp fluctuates, of course. So I made a video for the top 11 FAQs I get about winter camping: *1) If it's so cold, why can't you see your breath?* th-cam.com/video/a_nrGUte8dM/w-d-xo.html *2) If it's so cold, why is there slush on the lake?* th-cam.com/video/a_nrGUte8dM/w-d-xo.html *3) Why aren't you melting snow for water?* th-cam.com/video/a_nrGUte8dM/w-d-xo.html *4) What is the temp inside the tent?* th-cam.com/video/a_nrGUte8dM/w-d-xo.html *5) Why winter camp at all?* th-cam.com/video/a_nrGUte8dM/w-d-xo.html *6) Why aren't you wearing snowshoes?* th-cam.com/video/a_nrGUte8dM/w-d-xo.html *7) How do you poop when it's that cold?* th-cam.com/video/a_nrGUte8dM/w-d-xo.html *8) Aren't you worried about carbon monoxide from the stove?* th-cam.com/video/a_nrGUte8dM/w-d-xo.html *9) Aren't you afraid of animals attacking you? Where's your gun?* th-cam.com/video/a_nrGUte8dM/w-d-xo.html8 *10) How you you power your devices?* th-cam.com/video/a_nrGUte8dM/w-d-xo.html *11) Why don't you use a floor?* th-cam.com/video/a_nrGUte8dM/w-d-xo.html Hope it helps clear some things up.
Canoe guy! I know that your name is Jon, but to our new baby you’re known exclusively as “canoe guy”. The pandemic kept me at home, heavily pregnant, missing the campgrounds my husband and I love, waiting while the world figured out how to survive a pandemic. Now that the outlook is bright for a return to campgrounds, we are booking camp sites and playing with our new baby boy during a very cold winter. When we are itching to get outside for more than a walk, we put on “canoe guy” and our son watches you make fires, catch fish and explore the beautiful Canadian wilderness. I am so thankful for your content. I can’t wait until my son can see that crystal clear lakes and trout are not too far out of reach. We love you canoe guy!
Awww that made my night! 💚💚 Truly honoured to be a small part of your son's backcountry indoctrination :) Thanks so much for sharing Ellen and hope the three of you have a wonderful paddling season!
dear jon, i found your channel a few days ago and i`m binging a lot of erin`s and your content. it really makes me smile and lighten up my situation. i`m a disabled person who can`t move a lot anymore, so thank you very much for sharing your adventures. sorry for my bad english; best to both of you; cheers from germany
Really appreciate that 💚 It's a hard thing to have that taken away so I really feel for you, but I'm glad you can get a bit of the experience by joining us here. Thanks for writing us from Germany (hard to believe it was 15 years ago when I was backpacking through there) and all the best from Canada
I moved out to Canada 22 years ago and had big plans to do some of what Jon and Erin do. Sadly I too am disabled now and probably never will get to try these things, so watching all these wonderfully made shows really helps me, sort of living vicariously through Jon and Erin's epic adventures, so cool, love 'em all.
I love seeing "grownups" who haven't lost that child-like wonder for the world. The two of you jumping into the snow reminded me of when we were kids and would jump off the roof of our house into the snow after a fresh snowfall. You two are tres cool, man!
Whenever I meet someone I look into their eyes to see if the child is still alive. When we let the child die...we die... and there are far too many dead people walking this earth.
I would love to see (or be) the person who stumbles onto that lake and finds an igloo and giant heart shaped skating rink. Awesome episode! And we would love to come to breakfast some day 😊. We are heading out this weekend on a sledpacking trip in Michigan to test out our new hot tent and stove! Can't wait! You guys inspire us...truly! 🥰
Nice way to spend valentine's day. Good to see Erin. See your last trip wasn't a bust. You had a tent an wood already when you arrived. Igloo was cool an that sunset wad was just gorgeous! FREEDOM YEAHHHH
Nice to see there are still some thoughtful & kind people in this world. Beautiful sweater from a kind family. I think the igloo was perfect, I’m sure the snow quality or stickiness makes a difference near the top. You’re kicking butt on YT these days Jon!
Thanks a million Derek! So sweet of them. We've had sugary snow every time we've tried (two on video and two at home) and I would love to try it with soft packing snow. Maybe that's when we'll try again
That's fair. I don't think our Canadian host knows the satisfaction of floating naked in an ocean the temperature of human blood. Sounds horrifying, feels GREAT! Clothing optional.
Darn -30 is cold enough for me , and that snow & wind Yikes. Nice sweater Jon. great to see Erin out with you again nice way to spend Valentines together doing something you both love . The igloo maker is pretty cool looked like a lot of fun. Mmmm Bannock Have to love that I make even when not camping good entemp on the igloo folks , I really enjoyed this. your a cute couple .
I got sent for work to mexico and let me tell you how appreciated i was to see this upload, a little piece of home in this foreign hot dry place, i miss home!! Thank you so much to both of you!! Ill be back at my cabin in 2 more long days!!
Life has been super stressful; So when I got home, made dinner and got on youtube to find a Lost Lakes video I was reminded there is still some good in the world
Awesome Valentine Camping!! Thanks for making and sharing it. I'm from South Carolina and we had 18 inches back in 73 . We get snow every 4 or 5 years in central part of the State. Usually less than an inch. The Snow looks Beautiful! Keep Making Memories
My English not so good, and I understand not all that you say, but even for me your videos are very interesting. Videos with girl are the most interesting. With her you had smiling a lot :)
I can’t believe how cold that looked but you looked warm in that sweater! lol Thanks for the shoutout, Jon. That really meant a lot to us! So glad you like it. Happy Valentine’s Day to you and Erin!
Hahah it's even warmer than I imagined. It was the least I could do for such incredibly touching gestures. Thank you both so much and happy Valentine's Day!! 💚💚
My Dad to me 45 years ago “are you liking your lichen?”. That was on a camping and fishing trip on Rannoch Moor, Scotland. Quality humour lasts well 👍👍👍
What a great way for a couple to spend a Valentine's Day weekend. :) Good improvement and advancement on your igloo builds. I know what you mean about wanting to have a mentor. I only wish I lived closer as I would love to build one with you both and give you some pointers and time-savers. I've built several 8-footers just this winter (see my FB page for examples). There's nothing like seeing it done by someone who's built them before and then trying it under the eye of someone who can suggest minor corrections and improvements to your process. But, until such time as we can arrange something like that, here's more written suggestions. LOL I noticed a little something about how you were moving your form after completing your blocks at the 17:27 mark: You are not making consistent use of the toggle handle release. The U-bar gets lifted first, which causes the outer panel to spring out a bit, releasing it from the outside surface of the newly-made block. But there is a toggle handle at the top of the pole which, if you raise it after lifting the U-Bar, causes the inner panel to spring out also, releasing it from the inside surface of the newly made block. Whenever you are moving the form, use both mechanisms as this releases the tension and grip that the form has on on the new block, permitting the slip-form to slide off with greater ease and so reduces the chance of breaking or even just chipping a block. At the 17:45 mark, a block broke on the 5th course while trying to remove the form. This happens from time to time and there are two principle causes. The first is that the form was not positioned so that it was at a near perfect 90 degree angle (square) to the pole. If the angle of the form is anything more or less than 90 degrees, it can't just slip off the block, but instead jams against the block itself. It's worth checking and double-checking that angle when making those blocks so as to avoid cracking or breaking a block when it comes time to move the form. The other reason this happens has to do with the 3-dimensional geometry of the dome shape itself. The slip form has a gently curving horizontal arc which allows it to slide off the blocks along the arc of the newly made block and rest onto the wall to the left of it. But as you climb higher, that arc gets tighter. This is what happened at the 19:00 mark. The arc on the upper courses is a much tighter arc than the shape of the slip form itself. What's more, the previously completed course of blocks to the left of the slip-form will always be angling in towards you and up, not just extending out and horizontally to your left, even when you're not at the ramp position, so sliding the slip-form off the newly made block means lifting the form up, not just sliding it to the left. Eventually, that arc and the angle get so tight that it's advisable to remove the U-bar completely to release the block, then release the toggle handle, and now you can spread the slip-form open by hand much farther apart and gently lift it up and to the left to release the block without it jamming and breaking the newly-made block. In the highest courses, the outer panel comes off entirely, as you know, but I find that around course 5, it's often necessary to remove the U-bar when moving the slip form and putting it back in to start the next block. I hope these tips help, and I wish you a belated happy St. Valentine's Day to you, Jon & Erin. Cheers, - Martin
Aha! Thank you so much for this as always Martin! It would be so much more enjoyable to make one with you, I wish the logistics were simpler. The written instructions are still a big help...if not for you our toggle would still be upside-down 😆 I'm sure Erin will be interested to read this too. Thanks again for your time and insight and happy belated Valentine's Day to you as well sir!
The leather boot repair shop told me to dry your boots out better and make the leather last longer lay them on their side so the dry out quicker because the air circulates through them.
The shoveling at 2:27 made me giggle. So very Canadian to be in the middle of nowhere , surrounded by snow, and get the urge to shovel it. 🌝 So glad you had a nice ♥️ Day.
When I was in the military, we had a couple of tent stoves. The type you’re using plus a pot belly type. That with a tent liner, it kept the area toasty. I’m seeing the powdery snow and thinking how dry the air is. The little bit of steam from the water must feel good on your nose.
@@LostLakes have a Google. This foldable stovetop oven is sold by Coleman since the 1930s. I have one imported from the US because it seems to be non conformant to EU regulations so Coleman doesnt sell it here. I believed that every Ameddican camper had one. Its a simple sheet metal box with a grid and a door with temp gauge. Folds flat to 45x45x5 cm. I love it.
I just finally finished a 7 footer this year with that icebox tool. It’s amazing how much engineering can go into something as reasonably simple as that.
What a fantastic valentines day trip. ❤️ The weather looked gorgeous even though it was cold 🥶. Great attempt at the igloo that looks like it was a ton of fun to build, and that form is awesome!
My wife just got me the same sweater for Christmas (same sweater - different design)! Ark Imports? I’m in love with it. So cool of your fans to send you such an awesome gift. Great video, as always!
Awesomeness!!! Reminds me of Abraham and Sarah from the bible, they traveled throughout the area, living in tents, herding and living a quiet and GODLY life, This is so awesome to see, And the igloo, seems if you could have staggered small sticks built into each snow cube, it may have helped, like rebar in concrete,,,, Thanks!!!
Here on the West Coast we call the Grey Jay a "Camp Robber". They're fun to watch but you better not leave anything you need lying around. They'll try to take it even if it's twice their size.
Thank you so much, 'neighbour' (from Orillia, ONTARIO). Loved the belly flops & cannon balls. Re the igloo: I think that I would followed your suggestion & placed branches across the top with a light layer of snow. I have a DIY pulk that has much lower sides. It is designed with tie down Caribiners along the perimeter for quick lashing down. It is towed by 2 poles that cross & attach at the waste. These poles are quick detach, thus allowing the pulk to be towed by its tow rope.
Glad to see Erin back out, wouldn't want her to miss the -36c adventure.😲. Good outing, enjoyed it very much. Maybe bring a white tarp for the top of the igloo next time.
Perfect Valentine’s Day weekend! Awesome video. I was fortune enough to help a buddy, along w others, use one of those Igloo kits. Yeah, the top is a bugger. Three of us slept overnight in it, but in shirt-sleeve like weather +25 deg F, as compared to your temps. Lovely new sweater, want!
Happy Valentines from New Zealand. Love me a bit of camping as well, but I'm in the North Island of New Zealand so we don't get snow like that here. So I'm normally in between sand dunes and fishing out on the beaches or off rock ledges.
I love your channel. Just found it a couple of weeks ago. I make bannock at home with cinnamon in it too and fry it in a skillet. My wife loves it with jelly or jam. Keep up the good life!
Building a igloo with that sort of snow is not easy. Living in Norway I have built a lot of igloos, but in the mountains with much harder snow (result of wind making the snowparticels small blowing by the ground, an then getting packed together so you can cut blocks.) The best result with your condition would be to use the snow you have walked on while working in the box. This will make harder/stronger blocks. You see this in the film At the winter sea ice camp here on TH-cam. My favoritt learning source on igloobuilding. They use that type of snow between their blocks.
One time I had a group of students with me to build and sleep in igloos we could not find hard snow. But by using an old snowmobile track we found we were abel to cut blocks. But check out At the winter sea ice camp. It is netselik inuitts buiding igloos and hunting seal on the ice the tradisonal way.
This channel is so inspirational and you have truly helped me beat back the Covid blues. You guys are my definition of a power couple. 😃. Much love and thanks from N. Carolina.
Make a snow quarry by piling and packing snow with snowshoes then carve out last blocks ,passing to your partner for final fit . Great effort and fun to watch !
Nature is like a woman who, showing from under her clothes first one part of her body, then another, gives persistent admirers some hope to know her all someday.
It took a while on those upper blocks to feel how hard to pack each block. I found that if I left each block to sinter for a longer time (sometimes half an hour) it helped make for a solid block. The setup on my front lawn allowed me to go inside and have a coffee for each block. Not as easy in -36 in the backcountry. Good effort!
Another great video! I loved the sky, so clear and bright, and you know it going to be COLD! Great to see Erin again and looking forward to your next expedition! Happy Valentines to the Lovers of the North!
Absolutely perfect Valentines day! Thanks for carrying the love all the way through and eternally. PS Erin, I used to go backwards in my sleeping bag just like a caterpillar. My friends would get in there too, and we would slide down the stairs if you could believe it. I wonder who came up with that bright idea? Great seeing you too together.
Erin’s back !!! 👏 Another great video!.. Happy valentines. So, have you set a date yet ! 😃 Cheers to Billie & Neil 👍🍻 Loved the heart in the snow, great idea ! ✌️
As a kid we had hand held snow block makers, I think they were made by wham-o toys. We used them when we went on winter scout camps they just werent this big, but 2 or 3 of us could make enough blocks to build an igloo for 6 in about 2 hours. But this is a totally different procedure. Very cool 😎
Happy Valentine’s Day, great trip, awesome cold blue bird days. I so love being in the woods during winter, the storms, the cold, magical. Erin, I’d pop over for bannock anytime, I’ll bring the Baileys. 😃 great trip, thank you for sharing guys, 👍🙏🍾 Bob
Seems like the new stove is working out nicely. Best version of Valentines Day couple camping, although you might try Hawaii next year, you know, as a contrast. Cheers!
Another amazing trip. Lovley to see you and Erin together again. Beautiful views, fab snow and loved the igloo. Who knew trying to build an igloo was so technical 🙄 I absolutely love the new stove. When you open the door it sounds like the gates of Mordor opening 😆 My daughter found the bit with Erin about the being a catapillar in your sleeping bag 😅😅😅 Looking forward to your next adventure 💜
Nice and cold!! Great progress on the Igloo, you are getting better each time, you will nail it next round. Great video you two. Hope you had a great Valentines. Cheers!!
Wonderfully cold camping trip! The igloo still looked pretty good to me, doesn't look like an easy project but I am betting you two will figure it out! Great to see Erin out again and getting a break. Lovely sweater, lucky guy! 🙂. Thanks for sharing! :) :)
Great video! I think the best way to finish the igloo would be branches and snow. It would have been really cool to try sleeping in. I’d be curious to see if it was warmer than tent!
I agree: your plan B for the igloo. Some branches & boughs with snow over should of made for a workable roof. Always nice to have a tent & stove to retreat too!
Happy Valentines to you both! Scenery is dynamite, the colours out of this world and you two create such a wonderful and awesome video they are simply addictive!👍👍👍
can't have been too far from us. Northern MN was -27 for us Saturday and -31 Sunday, but the bluest of blue bird days followed. Thanks for the great trip video
Hells yeah brother! Pumping out content like it’s nobody’s business! Absolutely love your channel. Hands down my fav camping/fishing/outdoors youtuber.
Yeah Jon, Happy valentines to you and Erin. Thanks for vid. Full on badass dedication to your craft to make a movie in those conditions. Nicely done sir.
Guys I watch you guys all the time I love watching TH-cam and every trip that John has gone on as well and by the way you have done a terrific job on your igloo the second one I think it looks fantastic and I think it's a good idea put some sticks on the top put some snow on top and there you go. And it is a for effort you did a terrific job. From Ontario Canada
Make a small fire in the middle of the igloo may help to slightly melt a shell, waiting a few minutes between layers could work especially as you build your upper levels? That, or maybe even better, add a bit of liquid water to each block as you build? I have no clue, but..it could work, no?
Get a lot of questions and some think I'm lying about the temperature (no, I never have). If the title says -30, it should go without saying that that's the LOW for the trip...the temp fluctuates, of course.
So I made a video for the top 11 FAQs I get about winter camping:

*4) What is the temp inside the tent?* th-cam.com/video/a_nrGUte8dM/w-d-xo.html

The shoveling at 2:27 made me giggle. So very Canadian to be in the middle of nowhere , surrounded by snow, and get the urge to shovel it. 🌝 So glad you had a nice ♥️ Day.
😆
You two are totally adorable!
I lived the MORNING Shower and the CANNON BALL!!
Great playfulness and senses of humor!
Hahah really appreciate that! 💚💚
When I was in the military, we had a couple of tent stoves. The type you’re using plus a pot belly type. That with a tent liner, it kept the area toasty. I’m seeing the powdery snow and thinking how dry the air is. The little bit of steam from the water must feel good on your nose.
Great way to spend Valentine’s Day with the woman you love ❤️
Cheers to that Dave 💚
The snow cannonballs were HILARIOUS!! Kinda like “thoink.” 😆 Thanks for the humor and fun!! Y’all are just awesome!! ❤️
Perhaps you happy winter campers should try the foldable Coleman Camp Oven on your tentstove. You could bake bread, pizza and cinnamon rolls!
Now that would be luxury!
It really is! Kudos on finishing one
What a fantastic valentines day trip. ❤️ The weather looked gorgeous even though it was cold 🥶. Great attempt at the igloo that looks like it was a ton of fun to build, and that form is awesome!
Thanks a lot Christian!
Good to see a couple we enjoys the outdoors together.
My wife just got me the same sweater for Christmas (same sweater - different design)! Ark Imports? I’m in love with it. So cool of your fans to send you such an awesome gift. Great video, as always!
That's the one! Too funny. Thanks Duane!
Awesomeness!!!
Reminds me of Abraham and Sarah from the bible, they traveled throughout the area, living in tents, herding and living a quiet and GODLY life,
This is so awesome to see,
And the igloo, seems if you could have staggered small sticks built into each snow cube, it may have helped, like rebar in concrete,,,,
Thanks!!!
Here on the West Coast we call the Grey Jay a "Camp Robber". They're fun to watch but you better not leave anything you need lying around. They'll try to take it even if it's twice their size.
Very beautiful pictures at your campsite. Really like that new sweater that was sent to you.
💚
Thank you so much, 'neighbour' (from Orillia, ONTARIO). Loved the belly flops & cannon balls.
Re the igloo: I think that I would followed your suggestion & placed branches across the top with a light layer of snow.
I have a DIY pulk that has much lower sides. It is designed with tie down Caribiners along the perimeter for quick lashing down. It is towed by 2 poles that cross & attach at the waste. These poles are quick detach, thus allowing the pulk to be towed by its tow rope.
Much appreciated! 👋 I've thought about the crossing poles but feel like I don't go downhill enough to warrant it. Certainly has its place though
NOTHING COULD BE BETTER THAN WINTER CAMPING, GREAT FOOD AND HEATED TENT!!
Glad to see Erin back out, wouldn't want her to miss the -36c adventure.😲. Good outing, enjoyed it very much. Maybe bring a white tarp for the top of the igloo next time.
Thanks a lot NR! Erin, being handy and good at building, wanted to finish the igloo with blocks or bust 😆
Sounds wonderful right about now! Thanks a lot Jason :)
I love your channel. Just found it a couple of weeks ago. I make bannock at home with cinnamon in it too and fry it in a skillet. My wife loves it with jelly or jam. Keep up the good life!
💚
Building a igloo with that sort of snow is not easy. Living in Norway I have built a lot of igloos, but in the mountains with much harder snow (result of wind making the snowparticels small blowing by the ground, an then getting packed together so you can cut blocks.) The best result with your condition would be to use the snow you have walked on while working in the box. This will make harder/stronger blocks. You see this in the film At the winter sea ice camp here on TH-cam. My favoritt learning source on igloobuilding. They use that type of snow between their blocks.
Thanks for this Håvard, it would be really nice to be able to cut blocks instead of packing them into the form
Wow very cool! Just started with part 1 of the series, looks very interesting
This channel is so inspirational and you have truly helped me beat back the Covid blues.
You guys are my definition of a power couple. 😃. Much love and thanks from N. Carolina.
Truly appreciate that Jake!! Brighter days are ahead
Make a snow quarry by piling and packing snow with snowshoes then carve out last blocks ,passing to your partner for final fit . Great effort and fun to watch !
Great idea thanks a lot Mark!
Nature is like a woman who, showing from under her clothes first one part of her body, then another, gives persistent admirers some hope to know her all someday.
Always a fun time when you're out their together. Take care.
Thank you! We gave them a little extra but still that was only a few minutes. I guess we could've done longer and got the hot tent warm for breaks lol
Надо было разжечь маленький костер внутри иглу. Тогда слишком холодный снег начал бы быстрее слипаться.
Another great video! I loved the sky, so clear and bright, and you know it going to be COLD! Great to see Erin again and looking forward to your next expedition! Happy Valentines to the Lovers of the North!
Thanks so much Nicholas! I'll take -30 calm and sunny over -10 overcast and windy any day :)
That was the best Valentine’s Day present ever! That and laughing to myself about the asparagus pee that followed 😜
😆😆
I'm from south carolina. I LOVE how he said "first course...asparagoose" awesome 🥰🤣
You two crack me up. I wish you were my best friends. Happy Valentine's Day!
Hahah aw thanks Corrie and happy Valentine's Day!! 💚
😆💚
Erin’s back !!! 👏
Another great video!..
Happy valentines. So, have you set a date yet ! 😃
Cheers to Billie & Neil 👍🍻
Loved the heart in the snow, great idea ! ✌️
Thanks a bunch Pete! No date yet but planning for 2023 :) Cheers to Billie & Neil 🙂🥃
Good on you two camping out in those temps!!!!Thompson Manitoba here and that's our daily temps this year!! Danger territory!!
Glad to see you Kiddos having fun........keep doing it......
As a kid we had hand held snow block makers, I think they were made by wham-o toys.
We used them when we went on winter scout camps they just werent this big, but 2 or 3 of us could make enough blocks to build an igloo for 6 in about 2 hours.
But this is a totally different procedure.
Very cool 😎
Shame about the igloo! Only made one in my life as we dont get much snow down South (Uk). Think used a washing up bowl!
Super Valentines❤️
Great Jack Londonesque intro - you two are incredibly Gorgeous - and so are your Images - ART!
-36℃は想像もつきませんが、荒れた天気でなくて良かったですね。
晴れた日の青空と、雪の白さのコントラストがとても綺麗です。
Im watching this video from Morocco, it’s just an amazing feeling to camp under snow ❄️ ❤
All that sunshine feels so good 🌞 Hahah you got a deal Bob, thanks as always!!
Seems like the new stove is working out nicely. Best version of Valentines Day couple camping, although you might try Hawaii next year, you know, as a contrast. Cheers!
Hahah! Thanks a lot YY!
thank you for sharing that special weekend, you are so lucky that you both enjoy the same things
Another amazing trip. Lovley to see you and Erin together again. Beautiful views, fab snow and loved the igloo. Who knew trying to build an igloo was so technical 🙄 I absolutely love the new stove. When you open the door it sounds like the gates of Mordor opening 😆
My daughter found the bit with Erin about the being a catapillar in your sleeping bag 😅😅😅
Looking forward to your next adventure 💜
Hahaha I know, I just love opening that door! Great to be back out with my caterpillar 😆 Thanks so much Helen!
So beautiful snow and love💙
So much fun to watch. Thanks for sharing. What a nice Valentines Day.
Thanks a bunch Mark!
Nice and cold!! Great progress on the Igloo, you are getting better each time, you will nail it next round. Great video you two. Hope you had a great Valentines. Cheers!!
Thanks a lot Andrew! Hope next time is a breakthrough at last 🤞
Wonderfully cold camping trip! The igloo still looked pretty good to me, doesn't look like an easy project but I am betting you two will figure it out! Great to see Erin out again and getting a break. Lovely sweater, lucky guy! 🙂. Thanks for sharing! :) :)
Thanks J!! So much less easy than I expected lol. But I'm sure Erin will not rest until we get one
She is delightfully goofy and fun :) More videos with Erin in please hahaa
Great video! I think the best way to finish the igloo would be branches and snow. It would have been really cool to try sleeping in. I’d be curious to see if it was warmer than tent!
Thanks again Barb! Your builder daughter wanted to finish the igloo with blocks or bust 😆
Just wanna say thanks for makin my day every day.
💚💚💚
위대한 도전 ~ 구독했습니다 멀리한국에서 응원할께요 최고의 영상입니다
I agree: your plan B for the igloo. Some branches & boughs with snow over should of made for a workable roof. Always nice to have a tent & stove to retreat too!
Would've been a much different vibe if we didn't have the hot tent nearby stocked with wood lol
Happy Valentines to you both! Scenery is dynamite, the colours out of this world and you two create such a wonderful and awesome video they are simply addictive!👍👍👍
We really appreciate that Dale!!
also beautiful sweater! what a great gift! congrats
So sweet of them :)
For the top rows of the igloo make the blocks on the ground and use a saw as you place them to get a tight fit. Pack edges with snow as you go.
It's not an incomplete igloo, you just added a Roman oculus. Nice blending of architectural styles!
😆😆
can't have been too far from us. Northern MN was -27 for us Saturday and -31 Sunday, but the bluest of blue bird days followed. Thanks for the great trip video
Gotta love the sunshine. We're north of Superior, not too far. Thanks Caleb!
Male the blocks outside and spray a little water on to harden them then put blocks on for roof with water for binder 👍
Hells yeah brother! Pumping out content like it’s nobody’s business! Absolutely love your channel. Hands down my fav camping/fishing/outdoors youtuber.
Hahah thank you so much Michel!!!
love the igloo & bannock bread Erin you always bring greatness to an already incredible videos thanks for sharing
Thanks so much Janet! 💚
Yeah Jon, Happy valentines to you and Erin. Thanks for vid. Full on badass dedication to your craft to make a movie in those conditions. Nicely done sir.
Much appreciated Bob!!
Thanks a bunch NJH!! Erin is great at renos and building and she was insistent on doing it right or not at all hahah
Make a small fire in the middle of the igloo may help to slightly melt a shell, waiting a few minutes between layers could work especially as you build your upper levels? That, or maybe even better, add a bit of liquid water to each block as you build? I have no clue, but..it could work, no?
So. Beautiful Panorama
I would try some sticks stuck in the igloo for steep edges support
Great job. You can also use a candle to melt and solidify the inside of the igloo.
Thanks Marc! If only we had gotten to that point 😅
Happy Valentine's Day to you both. Love your bannock and jam breakfast! Good to see Erin out for the adventure this trip!
Thanks a lot Deb and Happy Valentine's Day!
Love the video. Thank you. Happy Valentines. You are an excellent couple.
Thank you so much Cindy!
이글루만드는거 처음봐~~~~^^ 정말 아름다운 풍경이다 그풍경을 내눈에 담고 간다 ^^
Wow that is some intense winter weather.
I miss winter, so I'm watching your winter camping.........Thank you for making these videos!
