@@Daddyrabbit_2 you know Kevin has a green cutlass but a 70s one green with green interior 350 2 burial and it have a holly and 02 sencer and it is really nice but it has been setting in storage for a year going on two and I think Kevin is going to get it out of storage soon because his orange 77 ford f 150 and it has a bad transmission since last fall and Kevin is living the dream with old rere and nice cars
Hey Dylan, I know it's nothing like this, and maybe you never get to read this, but I just want to tell you my story anyway. Eversince I was a teenager I was in love with cars. Especially the 50s, 60s, 70s American machines, but also the Japanese beauties of the 80s and 90s. I live in hungary, so I always watched your videos about these awesome cars with a sad feeling, that I'll never be able to do something like this, in one hand because these cars here, are as rare as Ferraris, and also like any other teenager, I had little to no money( in hungary there's no such thing like a "highschool car", people that get a car before 20 are really rare). Me and my friend always looked in gardens from the street that had a car sitting in the bushes, and we always dreamed about some day we find someone who will give the car to us, because he doesn't use it anymore. I thought this all will be a dream forever, however everything changed a few months ago. My father met with his friend at the church ( he and his family live a couple streets from us, but they usually see each other after church), and somehow my father mentioned my love towards cars. His friend responded with he's got an old Toyota that he want to sell. At first I got really excited but as I tought about it, I couldn't afford to buy the car, AND also fix up all it's issues, because it was parked for about a year at that time. The next time my father and his friend met, his friend heard about my financial situation and sad he would be happy to give it to me FOR FREE. I could not process it :D. Oh and guess what: it's a Japanese, 93 Corolla, and also a liftback model which is by far my favourite of all body types, and also because my grandfather also had a liftback Toyota, and basically I spent my entire childhood in that car. So now I have my very own car in the garden, and now I can do what you do every time: put it back on the road, fix it and enjoy it. I can't express how happy I am to finally get the chance to be a part of this community. I know it's nothing like the cars over in america, it's a four cylinder, 1.3, fwd, 88 hp little car, but I love it as hell, and it will be my treasure forever. Thank you to whoever read this enormous comment, have a nice day. :)
Hey Dylan. Top tip if you hang a mirror on one of the supports facing you if your on your own you can see exactly where the car is on the ramps. Great video as usual. Thanks again Stevey Mac from the U.K.
Yah I'm with these guys I have a ton of these laying around I race short track and use gm a body subs all the spindles I've ever used look exactly the same
I have a 71 Cutlass that I found in an old carriaige house type garage that had sat since 1985, I got it on a Friday night and drove it to a cruise in on Saturday night! I ran all new steel lines from the prop valve to the new wheel cylinders I put in and of course I replaced the master cylinder and worn out brake shoes! Everyone was trying to tell me to put it up for sale but it hasn't happened yet! This car holds the record for me buying parts cars to put it together with! I bought eight of them! But one was solid enough to make into a runner! It was a 70 that someone put a 71 rear bumper on it so I put it on my car to because mine had rust holes and peeling chrome in it! Really made my car look better! The other car I bought had a kind of raggedy set of Cragars that I put on the 70 that surrendered it's 71 rear bumper because it had a set of SS II Rallys with bias ply tires that I sand blasted and painted white to match my car ! Also the other parts car surrendered it's rocker panel mouldings to replace the set on mine that had screw holes in them from the painter drilling holes in them! What a mess! Then I found a 71 Cutlass on Ebay that the owner couldn't seem to give away for his Buy it now price of $800.00 So I got in touch with the guy and told him that I had $800.00 waiting for him when he got to my shop with it no questions asked or negotiations on the price I wanted the car! When he got to my shop with it I had $800.00 in my shirt pocket waiting for him and handed it to him as soon as he walked through the office door! He didn't know what to think! Anyway we rolled it off of the trailer and were pushing it in to a parking place and I told the guy steering to steer it towards the frame rack so I could get something I wanted off of the car easier with it up on the rack! I just happened to have the 70 that I had gotten the nice 71 rear bumper off of on one rack and when we got the car that the guy had just brought up on the other rack I said that I couldn't believe my good luck so far on the Cutlass! I pointed to the rear bumper on the 71 he just brought me and said that is great luck! The 70 parts car had an almost perfect 71 bumper on it so I switched it to my car Now I just bought a 71 Cutlass and it has an almost perfect 70 rear bumper on it for my 70! It blew everyone's mind that I had that good of luck! The tentative deal I had with the guy was $750 and an NOS right front wheel opening moulding for a 70/72 Buick GS, I had already given him the 800 so I got him the moulding out of the car on the other rack and handed it to him and said we're even! He didn't know what to think! I told him that the bumper was a hell of a bonus and I also noticed the front tires were the perfect size for the car too! So the parts car was a good deal for me! And I wanted it to be a good deal for him! Then a week later I found a couple of 71/72 Cutlasses at my favorite junkyard and the owner said he messed up and paid too much for them when scrap was real high and then it dropped right after he bought them and he was going to lose money so I made a deal with him to give him 6 junkers I had and $800 for them to help him and me both out! So he hauled two Cutlasses to my shop and picked his junkers up! That is 5 of the parts cars I picked up to do this car! Only three more! Sorry to ramble on but that's what happens when you get to talking about old cars!
Very cool that you helped someone speed up their project. Wish I had neighbors interested in old cars. That Chevelle's color and patina gives me Big Lebowski vibes.
Boy, do I love the round tail lights. Just classic. The fun you're having driving that car around is the same fun and joy I have driving my 68 C10. Every time. I've never had a bad time driving my truck. Even when it's broken down on the road. Still a joy. Edit: While you're not...wrong...I've never seen an HEI clocked like that.
I absolutely want to see more videos like this! Even beat up, that Chevelle is pretty hot looking, with the most popular engine of the era. Good job Dylan.
remember guys your original coil pos wire is a resistance wire that does the same as a ballast resistor and supplies 9 v to stock coil. HEI distributor needs 12 v to function properly! great revival
"and I'm about to put it back on the road...." engine stalls and silence. LOL I've really enjoyed seeing you bring this old Chevelle back around. This is the kind of car I'd just keep making it mechanically sound 100%, then maybe clean up and fix a few interior bits and just drive it. I'd have to find the parts to fix the AC though, I'm not a fan of hot weather.
That car brings back memories.....got my license in '79 and that was the first car that I ever drove. it was the whoever needs to drive it car of two family cars that mostly my stepbrother and I used. I used it mostly to drive to my summer part-time job at Hardee's.
Love this build. At heart, I am a Moparian. But I like my Chevys too. I am 63yo. Back in late 70s I had a 1971 Malibu 350. Northern car moved to Florida, no A/C. Build sheet. Car was 350, 4 barrel, buckets, console, 4 speed, 12 bolt 373. Ordered with single exhaust for some odd reason. Miss that car. So this build hits home for me. thank you for bringing her back to life.

I'm a total sucker for an old Chevelle coming back to life. I'm also a sucker for a 71 LeMans. What a great video. That new Wildfire lift is really getting broken in in a great way
It will run a lot smother once the exhaust system is sorted but other than that I love when you rescue lost and forgotten cars so keep doing what your doing
After swapping out the distributor and the initial start I saw a remarkable improvement and said wow the second you did 😂 keep up the good work, I love all the content that you bring forth. Have a great memorial Day weekend 👍☮️
Awesome I love that you helped get it going and then he will be more motivated and wouldn't have the headaches involved with getting it running again,I've actually done the same thing a few times for friends of mine.. difference is I didn't have a TH-cam channel and wasn't concerned about getting recognition for it and one of them was a best friend the other one that comes to mind is like a brother to me I've known him since the 4th grade.. anyways I just helped him get something he could reliably drive to help him finish hauling parts for fixing a car he owed money on..to be able to get it so it could be driven too.. and in the case of my best friend I would have paid for way more of the parts than I did and not charged him for fixing it.just because he was my best friend.. anyways great job Dylan sir.
You are right Dylan. Get those old cars back on the road. They don't have to be perfect to enjoy them and have some fun. Hope you do more of these videos. Thank you.
My first car was a 72 Chevelle exactly like that only difference of had a 307 in it. Yeah my dad put a 327 four barrel and we painted it black. I wish I still had it but it’s great memories of my youth. Thanks for the content
This Malibu is turning into a great starting point for sure! I can't get over the carburetor and was suprised that the DUI unit fixed the drivability issues. I should have known. Good information about the brakes 🤘🏻🇺🇸

You need to a 70/30 proportioning valve and the combination valve should be upfront and you have to push in the button or pull it out so that you can bleed it you might have to vacuum Bleed It
Well done sir, enjoying the content! The more detail in the work you do, the more interesting this is to me and to many. Love your presentation and the humor is the best!
Hopefully this will spark a fire in the owners heart to continue working on this car. For no more than you really had to do to get it going it's a shame it's set this long. Good video
Love this stuff. Another fantastic video Dylan. Watching you get these back on the road with some TLC and basic repairs and a few choice mods are my favorite.
Those old chevy chevelles was the great muscle cars back then and are highly sought after now. That may be a "plain jane" with a little 2 barrel but it sounds really good. Id love to see it fixed up like get ding and dents out etc.
Great job Dylan. Your absolutely right. We should drive these cars. I have 5 nice cars some old some new but I drive them all and theyre all street legal. Keep bringing them back Bro. I also love your new place. Wicked as... The ULTIMATE Man cave. From Down Under in New Zealand.
If you are ever in MN and want to Tinker on a 65 chevelle let me know Could use some help Fine tuning things like the engine and brakes. Great video. Really fun to see you work on a GM and be so positive the whole way through.
I wish I had money, I would send you my car for you to work on it. I spend about 5 hours today working on my old trans am, but after I finished the car wouldn’t start, tomorrow I see if I can get it going. Love your videos.
Great conversion to do, my 71 gto with 4 drums manual was good for 1 stop then were on fire. I do like drums in the rear tho and kept those. Ahh GMC 3500 Soon
Hey Dylan thank you for the video I love the Chevy chevelles myself too and when you were backing up I don't think I seen the reverse lights working just figured I'd let you know and have a happy memorial day weekend; you and your whole family
Like you said it sounds instantly happy once you replaced it the distributor and the wires wow very impressive my compliments to the mechanic which I never was I'm good at destroying vehicles I'm not good at fixing off to the races
Get that sucker back to its Golden GM A body glory!
*YES*
Would you ever consider doing a 65-66 Ford Galaxie? I know your more of a Ford guy and I think it would be cool to see
Hell yeah! Like y'all did your dad's Cutlass!

Dodge and Ford man grinning ear to ear driving around an old Chevy.. love it !!
Just an FYI, the spindles are left rough cast and only machined where the race and bearing sit. I have seen that many times on old Chevy's.
exactly, theyre made that way since the bearing doesnt ride on the rough areas anyway.
I think he just wanted to indulge in a bit more buying therapy.. 😁😁
This had chunks removed from the spindle where the bearing rides. No way these would’ve been able to hold it.
@@DylanMcCoolVideo
The part you were pointing to isn’t supposed to be machined. The actual machined surfaces are where the bearing slips onto.

Hello from Bordeaux, France !
Get you a nice mirror for the front of your lift,it’s great for checking lights blinkers and even a tool left on the rack 👍🏼
Awesome fixer upper. Put some headers and glass packs and a 4 barrel it'll b a great ride
There's just something special about big whiskey dents on old beaters. They add character.

The rod that pushes the master cylinder from the brake pedal is different length from manual to power
It has an adjustable rod for the master cylinder.
Great video bud. I’d love to see a full restoration or resto/mod. Full body and paint. To me, that is what completes a build.
Congratulations on the new shop 👍
Chevy all the way
You are right Dylan. Get those old cars back on the road. They don't have to be perfect to enjoy them and have some fun. Hope you do more of these videos. Thank you.
I'm a Mopar guy but this Chevelle looks even better than completely restored one. This ratty look looks Soo good.
The HEI is one of the best upgrades. We put them on our Dodge 318 and both of our 302 Ford's. The best factory ignition ever.
My first car was a 72 Chevelle exactly like that only difference of had a 307 in it. Yeah my dad put a 327 four barrel and we painted it black. I wish I still had it but it’s great memories of my youth. Thanks for the content
I'm a ford guy but I love these old Chevelle's
The Reese Bobby car was fun, hope to see it after the work is finished!
I love this Chevelle that HEI cleaned it up a bit and it runs pretty good now hopefully the owner will get it back to perfect !
This Malibu is turning into a great starting point for sure! I can't get over the carburetor and was suprised that the DUI unit fixed the drivability issues. I should have known. Good information about the brakes 🤘🏻🇺🇸
Hey Dilan, love soooo much your last words, "fix what you can fix, but drive it !" :)
Team barn exploration ^^
Thanks for yours videos, thank from France :)
I remember back in 1981 I had a 1975 Chevy truck and was coming home around 11pm and my alternator belt broke so I pulled over when I noticed my headlights were getting too dim to see and was about 8 miles from the house. I called my dad from a pay phone and told him where I was and what my situation was. about 10 minuets later he showed up half asleep with my moms panty hose and made me a temporary alternator belt out of pair of pantyhose. That was the day I found out my dad was MacGyver. It got me home when all auto part stores were closed. I would of never thought of doing that or believe it would work but it did.
Thats one of those old farm tricks, like an egg and pepper in a leaking radiator 😉
Great car hope you get it all back together, for the owner, all the best to you and your loved ones
love it when he brings out the modern distributor
Great stuff Dylan thanks I would love to see it after he gets some work done on it see how far we get it's a pretty big project
Your measuring skills are nothing short of amazing.
Good looking car. But can't wait to see more updates on the Dodge Monaco. That's my favorite car so far.
Dylan you are awesome and ahead of your time on mannerisms and mechanical ⚙️ knowledge
Fellow Tennessean here awesome content keep up the good work!
You need to a 70/30 proportioning valve and the combination valve should be upfront and you have to push in the button or pull it out so that you can bleed it you might have to vacuum Bleed It
This Chevelle has potential to make a nice muscle car. Nice work Dylan.
love the content and awesome seeing someone local doing this and doing so good ,you're truly blessed
That 1-2 shift reminds me of the B&M kit my buddy installed in his Chevelle. It would chirp 2nd😁👍
I have a picture of my dad in front of a Chevelle about this same year when he was a young man. His was red with a black vinyl top.
Well done sir, enjoying the content! The more detail in the work you do, the more interesting this is to me and to many. Love your presentation and the humor is the best!
Them dui Performance Distributors just liven every engine you have put them in very snappy throttle response
Hopefully this will spark a fire in the owners heart to continue working on this car. For no more than you really had to do to get it going it's a shame it's set this long. Good video

once the owner get's it up to snuff, it would great to see those tires mounted on a set of Torque Thrusts... awesome revival Dylan

Thank you for sharing and the appreciation
hope to see a revisit sometime in the future
