The problem I have with professor hulk is that yes it is the most logical solution to his arc, but it happened all offscreen. We got very little hulk and then all of his growth was done offscreen. He went from a broken man to living the best of both worlds and we didn’t get to see it. I would’ve loved to see Mark Ruffalo reacting to finally find peace but we never got it. I think that’s why people mainly hate it.
Definitely the best version of Hulk also 1 of the most underrated films in the MCU I personally rank this in my top half of all MCU films. Also I kinda wish Ed Norton was kept as Bruce/Hulk because the heat he got was that he was to demanding & had drama over creative control over the character. Maybe he could've salvaged Hulk & he wouldn't had been downgraded so badly in the later films because he wasn't that bad in avengers 1 & 2.
Ty Burrell, who played the BF in the movie, is playing Dr. Leonard Sampson a super hero and Hulk ally who was exposed to Hulk’s gamma radiation after the Hulk siphoned it out of his body to cure himself. His power is that the longer his hair grows out, the stronger he gets.
Imagine if Thor met Samson he would say: “Know this, Son of Sam.” With Liv Tyler returning in Captain America 4, it’s likely that Ty Burrell will return as well.
So, the Marvel Short "The Consultant" reveals that Tony Stark wasn't there to recruit the Hulk--he was sent there to recruit the Abomination, per the World Council's request. Only, Nick Fury didn't want to recruit the Abomination, so he ended up sending Tony Stark, so that Tony would annoy Ross to the point where Ross would never allow the Abomination to be released--which is why Hulk is still completely removed from everything in the Avengers.
Still my favourite Hulk, such a savage beast. Cast was brilliant, makes me a little sad to see how downhill the Hulk character has gone, we didn't have enough time with raging Hulk imo.
Bet it was mentioned but the deleted scene of Banner trying to kill himself with the gun also explains how they found Captain America. In the ice, you can see Cap and his Shield break out of the surface (slow the frames). I believe SHIELD was looking for Banner when they discovered the plane was in and eventually found Cap. My only beef with this now is that Cap's Shield was in the plane. So the scene no longer fully verifies that. Would be great to recon or make it official in the MCU.
Mello, I liked that you acknowledged the music. Film composers don't get the credit they deserve. The composer for the Incredible Hulk was Craig Armstrong, a prolific composer who's credits include 1996 Romeo and Juliet, Ray, and the 2013 Great Gatsby film.
My idea is that back in the day the fan service wasn't on par enough. Being an incredible hulk fan and playing the games it was awesome seeing these homages to them. A lot of em just wanted to see hulk smash. Literally lol. The extra stuff is where everything fell short to others. This is personally my favorite hulk to date and an even reasonable hulk that's not that world breaker shit just gets stronger with rage instead of the toy that Mark ruffalo turned him into
Blade and Spawn will forever be my favorite anti-hero comic characters. Even though the original Spawn film isn't nearly as good as the source material, the practical effects of Spawn and Clown/Violator looked next level for the 90's. Plus the casting of Michael Jai White and John Leguizamo was on point. I'm really hoping the reboot Todd McFarlane has been hinting at for the past five years actually gets made because that film needs a modern adaptation.
The music is IMO one of the most forgotten gems of the entire MCU - it's blatantly meant to imply homage to classic "tragical monster" movies like the original Frankenstein, and so on. As for the slapping in his Brazilian Jujitsu anger management class, the thing is that the body has involuntary stress responses - in the MCU, anger is just part of what changes him, it's when his adrenaline and heartrate goes up that he goes fully Hulk. Edit: The "two Canadian hunters" bit is a bit of a wink towards the classic storyline where Wolverine was introduced, Canadian hunters got killed and Wolverine is sent to investigate, sees Hulk, fights, then it turns out it was a different Marvel monster all along.
The soundtrack for this movie is my all time favorite MCU soundtrack and this movie holds an incredibly special place in my heart by far my favorite hero is Hulk by the way
Now this was a damn good Hulk movie. Loved seeing that cameo appearance of Lou Ferrigno (the original Hulk). And Liv Tyler (Arwen from Lord of the Rings), oh God she was so radiant.
Edward Norton gave alot of energy to his role in the incredible Hulk. Mark Ruffalo, I felt like, never did. I feel like he put in as little energy as he could. Aside from the actors, the portrayal we got in this movie was of an intelligent and cautious Bruce Banner who understood his limitations, which we see him working on consistently. The one we got in the avengers movies was a Bruce Banner who was seemingly pissed off to have the hulk in him, and then the directors just didn't know what to do with him beyond that. And they got into the habit of developing him offscreen. I also don't understand why they never gave him any solo movies this entire time.
There are many call backs and references to The Incredible Hulk TV Series in this film; not just the Lou Ferrigno cameo, the Bill Bixby reference, or the classic line: “Don’t make me angry…you wouldn’t like me when I’m angry.” Some of them are: - The “bright green eyes” that triggers the Hulk-out are a nod to the “bright white eyes” that release The Hulk on the show. - The university where Banner returns to; Culver University, is a nod to Culver Institute; where David Banner was working in the pilot episode of the series. - After the Hulk flees Brazil; and you see a shirt-less Banner walking through the streets, the opening notes of “The Lonely Man” are played. “The Lonely Man” was the song played at the end of each episode (except for the 2-parters) of The Hulk TV Series. - During the battle between The Hulk and the Army, two college students were filming the battle on their phones. One of the students was named Jack McGee; who was a reporter for the college’s newspaper. In the series, Jack McGee was a Chicago newspaper reporter who pursues Banner and The Hulk from city to city in the hopes of capturing what he referred to in the pilot episode as “one of the great stories of the 20th century.”
I personally think daredevil who is MY favorite marvel character has the most drawn out character arc and now that hes officially in the MCU hes only gonna get better
I LOVE this movie. It's definitely my favourite of Phase One. Theres a brutality and terror to the Hulk that is not present in any of the other Marvel movies. Also, in the later films, we took away the biggest part of the Hulks story, which was him CONSTANTLY being hunted by Ross and the government wanting to make him into a weapon. Both Banner and Hulk, I thought looked better in this one.And Norton was better than Ruffalo. New Banner is too comedic. "That girl is fine!" Dude, the visual acting of her looking at Bruce and us being able to guess she likes him without them having any stretched out interactions was great. Sadly, Planet Hulk most likely won't happen, as the story takes place on Sakaar(the Sakaarans are in GOTG and they look more buglike than the red skinned species they were in the comics)and we sort of had a cut down story by making him the gladiator in "Thor:Ragnarok", along with Korg and Miek. Hulk has two lines, which are "Hulk...SMASH!"(which made me lose my shit)and "Leave me alone..." (which was a line Hulk usually said in the comics to let people know get the HELL away!) The film was actually shot in Toronto. The space for the big monster brawl was Downtown from me. Hulk and Abomination are a little different in the comics. Bruce becomes stronger the angrier he gets, but Abomination doesn't. You thought of balls too? I thought I was the only fucking one. XD Included is a bit that I was upset got abandoned, which is Bruce being able to sort of aim the Hulk. He shows he has smarts as well as brawn in the clashes(stopping the sonic waves with one chunk of metal while slicing it in two with the other, using the cop car as makeshift knuckledusters against Abomination, using his Thunderclap as a vacuum to put out blaze from the helicopter and using the ground pound to trap Blonsky and take away his strength and speed advantages. In the rest of the movies, he just stays the brute/super strength player.
The woman from in Brazil is an actress called Debora Nascimento, I'm also from Brazil so when I watched this movie for the first time I got quite surprised seeing her as she isn't very famous, but still got me feeling proud
In the comics, Sam refused the serum & we saw him walk away from the serum in his show, so more than likely he's without it in Cap 4. Bruce saying "me underground in a metal..." Is just like how he says it in Avengers "me in a pressurized metal container..." Just shows that these characters are the same & if Norton had stayed on Hulk would've went the same route eventually becoming Prof Hulk & setting up World War Hulk in She Hulk.
Lol bro, favorite reaction period to that fight vs abomination, that shits me too, whole thing has me flexin and shit. The hulk smash and that roar at the end make me wanna go run through a fuckin wall lmao
The part where the lightning angers The Hulk after he saves Betty i think could be that he thinks it could be his father again, because he could turn into anything he absorbs.
Appropriate that you watched this days ago cause The Leader is now the main antagonist for Captain America: New World Order, with the same actor returning after so many years.
If you watched Falcon And The Winter Soldier the last episode when he gave his speech he clearly points out his whole point of being Captain America was to be something noone had the balls to do. Not just take up Captain America's mantle but as a the first and only Black Man to do it and he did it with no super serum, no blue eyes, just a normal soldier.
on the behind the scenes of this hulk movie. the vfx guys said they was gonna go with a Eric Bana type of build for hulk and then change it to be more of a linebacker body. great freaking choice.
So the Marvel One Shot called “The Consultant” precedes this movie. The ending credits of the movie wasn’t mismatched with the way Avengers starts. Stark wasn’t there to recruit Banner. He was there to recruit Blonsky/Abomination under the request of SHIELD/Hydra Agent Sitwell.
@@parkerboy795 Technically true, as that was Coulson’s and Sitwell’s actual plan, but they sent in Stark with the opposite intent, knowing that he and Ross would clash and ruin any chance of that happening.
This whole movie is one giant nod to the show you've never seen. Almost a continuation, in fact. And a sign of where it could've gone. Not only does it have abomination in it, it has the guy that was gonna be red hulk in it, Gen. Ross
I think the reason he was in Brazil is because it probably was the last place hulk landed. And it’s convenient for him( so he thought) since The US can’t cross over to get him.
If you watch the Marvel short with coulson and Sitwell it was their idea to send stark to try and recruit someone for the avengers initiative knowing Ross would not want part of it. I think the council was asking for abomination, not banner
I like how you said that the Blue Marvel was one of your favs. Unfortunately, he would probably never get his own movie. Since the guy is like way stupidly OP. He's beaten all the heavy hitters, even Sentry.
Dr. Samuel Sterns became 'The Leader". The Gamma radiation affected his brain, making him super smart. The actor who played "Stanley" was Paul Soles (R.I.P.) He voiced characters for the various Marvel animated series back in the 1960s, including Dr. Bruce Banner, Rick Jones, Happy Hogan, Peter Parker, AND "Spider-Man'. (Cool, huh?)
Project Rebirth was the “original sin”, as interpreted in the Ultimate Marvel universe; subsequent super humans descended from him. That idea is constantly displayed in the CAP films and F&TWS; Schmidt, Barnes, Blonsky, Flag Smashers, Walker, etc. There has yet to be a character of this category to deviate from this path, except for Peter Parker.
He's in Brazil because that's where the "true" origin story of the Hulk, Ang Lee's earlier version ended with Banner in the Amazon rainforest. Watch Ang Lee's "Hulk" for a true in-depth Hulk origin story. The only thing I didn't much care for in this story of the Hulk was his color choice. He was a bit too "neon" green.
Christopher Reeve's Superman is my favorite cinematic superhero. Chris Evan's Captain America is my favorite MCU superhero. My favorite superhero movie of all time is The Incredibles.
I see people question the lightning scene sometimes. My guess is he reacts that way to it because in the first film at the end he battles his father in the clouds while he's transformed himself into lightning bolts. I could be wrong though. Just what I figured.
(At 29:50) if this guy Mr. Blue really is Samuel Sterns, then he's going to be the villain known as "The Leader". As strong as The Hulk is, The Leader is intelligent.
I like how you react to movies you’ve seen already but the reaction seems like its first time watching vibes 💯

I think that’s why people mainly hate it.
This and the fact they made professor hulk being a joke professor hulk have banner intelect but still the big looking hulk getting stronger with rage
This was the 1st movie I ever saw in theaters and my mom always tell me how I annoyed everyone around us cuz I was so into the movie as a kid LMAO
5:36 didn't even realize the actor had passed, was wondering why the character hadn't shown up pretty early on in She-Hulk
5:35 Oh snaps! I totally forgot he pass away! It did an spectacular job! RIP🙏🏽
9:49 that shot bro 🔥🔥🔥 love it when he did that, just shows how terrifying he can be
Still my favourite Hulk, such a savage beast.
Cast was brilliant, makes me a little sad to see how downhill the Hulk character has gone, we didn't have enough time with raging Hulk imo.
I flippin’ loved this movie. My 3yr old son (at the time) lost it when he saw Tony Stark, giving we had just seen IRON MAN, weeks prior…
damn Mell is a REAL incredible Hulk fan, I thought I loved this movie but this man out here memorizing the hand movements and roars
He became the Leader. Smart guy who can levitate things with his mind.
He is coming back in Captain America: New World Order.
You can tell the early phases had directors with actual styles. Each film was unique. Now all of them look the same.
Almost forgot, Michael K William is there to as Harlem Street Vendor. Rip Michael K William 🥀💔😔
Wait a minute…. is Betty Ross the Red Skull’s Daughter?
She’s Hydra right?
@@ricardoortiz4870 what?? No! She’s Thunderbolt Ross’s daughter.
@@ricardoortiz4870 wait, aaaaahh I get it!!
@@treyowen9213 If Betty Ross is Hydra, then she deserves to be apprehended.
Recreating moments from this movie, same!!!
I love this movie with all my heart
I really don’t get why people hate this movie!!!
I have liked every Hulk and Banner, but I'd agree I really liked Norton's Banner and this particular Hulk the most
Liv Tyler is gorgeous. Is crazy that someone who fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down produced such a beautiful kid heh
😂😂😂 It happens alot.
The Taxes on MCU are Crazy
To me, this actor was the best Hulk ever
Best romantic relationship is Pepper and Tony Stark
"I hope that they do a Planet Hulk story."
*segway*
"I'm gonna tell him."
"Don't you dare!"
There are many call backs and references to The Incredible Hulk TV Series in this film; not just the Lou Ferrigno cameo, the Bill Bixby reference, or the classic line: “Don’t make me angry…you wouldn’t like me when I’m angry.”
Some of them are:
- The “bright green eyes” that triggers the Hulk-out are a nod to the “bright white eyes” that release The Hulk on the show.
I am so happy this live stream is now because i am like 30 minutes early for my doctors appointment and Melverse is always great to see 😁
I LOVE this movie.
Hulk has two lines, which are "Hulk...SMASH!"(which made me lose my shit)and "Leave me alone..." (which was a line Hulk usually said in the comics to let people know get the HELL away!)
The film was actually shot in Toronto. The space for the big monster brawl was Downtown from me.
Hulk and Abomination are a little different in the comics. Bruce becomes stronger the angrier he gets, but Abomination doesn't.
You thought of balls too? I thought I was the only fucking one. XD
Included is a bit that I was upset got abandoned, which is Bruce being able to sort of aim the Hulk.
I once saw the Planet Hulk animated movie and it feels canon to the MCU, despite not being.
@@ricardoortiz4870 Saw it too. Sucks they cut out Silver Surfer for Beta Ray Bill and that they cut out the sad ending/setup for "World War Hulk".
The Hulk to me to this day has never looked better on the big screen since this movie. Best looking Hulk imho.
The woman from in Brazil is an actress called Debora Nascimento, I'm also from Brazil so when I watched this movie for the first time I got quite surprised seeing her as she isn't very famous, but still got me feeling proud
Does she have a thing for Bruce now? 😂
24:47 U going to hell for inserting that clip in😅😅😅😅😅
Love the detail of the scar hulk has on his chest in Thor Ragnarok that he got from abomination.
Thor foreshadowing.
I appreciate that you love this movie! and I'm glad to not be the only one.
“The Hulk is in the streets!”
Hulk in the streets, Abomination in the sheets👍
I LOVE this movie. I’ve always thought Norton was the best hulk by far. And I love the elements of like werewolf movies they added to the movie.
Appropriate that you watched this days ago cause The Leader is now the main antagonist for Captain America: New World Order, with the same actor returning after so many years.
Liv Tyler’s Betty Ross is coming back as well. Now all that’s left is Ty Burrell’s Doc Samson.
Tim Roth's performance was amazing
They need to make a No-way-home-esque Hulk film bringing Eric Bana, Ed Norton and Mark Ruffalo together.
on the behind the scenes of this hulk movie. the vfx guys said they was gonna go with a Eric Bana type of build for hulk and then change it to be more of a linebacker body. great freaking choice.
Actually, it was to make sure Ross and the World Security Council wouldn't free Blonsky and shift the blame for his actions on Banner.
@@parkerboy795 Technically true, as that was Coulson’s and Sitwell’s actual plan, but they sent in Stark with the opposite intent, knowing that he and Ross would clash and ruin any chance of that happening.
This Hulk would have ripped Thanos in half
Ironman and The Incredible Hulk (2008) are some of the best superhero films hands down.
Smart Hulk is cannon and it really is the best of both worlds. Even Hulk likes being smart it makes smashing so much more effective and efficient.
I like how you said that the Blue Marvel was one of your favs. Unfortunately, he would probably never get his own movie. Since the guy is like way stupidly OP. He's beaten all the heavy hitters, even Sentry.
Supposedly he will be in The Marvels, not sure they will do him justice the way things are going.
Christopher Reeve as Superman was everything 💖. The theme music too.. Perfection 💕
This has always been one of my favorite comic movies. The only thing that I didn't like were the changes to the Abomination's appearance.
He is coming back in Captain America: New World Order.
Ngl w movie I rewatch this like a week ago and this hulk is better than are current version of hulk also the soundtrack for this movie is astonishing
