Yep, it’s the perfect motorcycle! But I’m prejudiced, owning a 2018 with a 114. Related to you with maneuvering around the garage and age. My previous bike was an ultra limited. Rode like a dream on the highways, but was too much to Maneuver around town as I got older. Test road a 107 Heritage, and that put me over the edge. Everything you described is true. So much lighter and nimble. Handles around town. Highway speeds and seating is comfortable. It’s a dream bike. Yep it’s perfect 👌🏻
I have a ‘15 Street Glide. I struggle to flat foot. So I’ve lowered it in the rear and trimmed the seat. Both have helped tremendously. BUT I test rode a 2020 heritage. O man does it ride smooth. The ride on my glide has always been a complaint of mine and I came from a ‘07 Sportster 1200 Custom. I’m really torn on getting a heritage and getting rid of the Street Glide
@@GARamblinMan I "need" a windshield/fairing and bags. I don't "need" the radio. Most of time I don't have it on or so low I can only hear it when stopped. Just hard to justify getting rid of a bike I paid so much for and is basically brand new. Then again, it's only money
I am very happy with my 2022 114 Heritage Classic after trading in my 2017 Street Glide Special. I wish this new softail was available in 2017. I'm older also (68). The lightness, compared to the Street Glide, was exactly what I wanted and the torque, flick-ability, lean angle.It even rides smoother. The looks makes me feel like I'm riding a real motorcycle again. There are so many SG's out there that they have deserved the "Me too" monicker. I get a lot more looks on this bike then I did on the SG. Don't get me wrong the SG was a great bike for it's intended purpose but it just didn't make me feel like I wanted to feel and that feeling is 90% of riding. Ride on and enjoy for joy is the purpose of life.
You bought it for the same reasons I did. I like the bigger touring bikes but just couldn’t justify the larger size and price tags. It was a tough call between the Heritage and Road King but I’m happy with it and I have taken several 3-4 day trips and it was great for that. Thanks for watching and commenting. Ride safe!
I bought the 114 heritage, my wife when dropping me off to pick it up made a deal to trade her low rider in on the 107 heritage. Rode the Blue Ridge trail last summer, spent almost two weeks traveling on them. Great ride, best purchase ive made. Funny, went in to buy a ultra limited, came out with the heritage

I have the 18 Heritage special Twisted Cherry. It has the 114. My personal advice is if you are seriously looking at this bike go with the 114. 107 is a great motor as well but that 114 really wakes the bike up. That’s just personal preference of course but it’s a great option. I could and do ride all day on mine. In the summer of course. Good luck and safe ride whichever way you choose.

Just bought a 2018 Twisted Cherry Heritage with 1,320 miles yesterday. I test drove both the 107 and the 114. I could not really tell the difference. I went with the 107 because it was cheaper. Trust me the 107 has plenty of power.
I just bought a 2020 heritage classic V107 in vivid black. Im glad that I bought the bike and love that I can remove the windscreen, saddle bags and rear seat and boom you have a street cruiser that looks like the deluxe minus the white wall tires. The bike has all I need. I got the V107 and not the V114 because I love the chrome. All the front lights are LED except the blinkers. I just wish HD factory installed LED lights in the back especially the brake light.
I like the chrome on the 107 models, too. That’s plenty of motor for me. The lack of LED lights on the front turn signals and the rear turn signals and brake lights is a common gripe among Heritage owners. The Deluxe has LED all around so it’s strange HD doesn’t do the same for the Heritage. Thanks for watching and commenting. Ride safe.
Picked up a 2020 Heritage 114 a couple months ago. I love it. To make it perfect I would like quick detach bags like the sport glide and the suspension adjustment moved out from under the seat.

I bought one of these and put 32,000 miles on it so far. It could use brighter lights at night. It needs a rain sock on the air filter. The saddle bags need to be bigger so a gallon of milk and a case of beer fit in. Other than that the bike is perfectly wonderful. Louder exhaust would be nice.
I’ve had a new one for about a year now and I agree with your comments. The LED front lights are pretty bright and changing out the turn signals to LED helps even a little more. The bags look big but don’t hold as much as I thought. I put Vance & Hines Eliminator 300 slip on mufflers on mine and it sounds much better. Thanks for watching and commenting. Ride safe.
Great review as always. I agree with you completely. As you know I’m looking for my retirement bike as well. My wife has decided that she won’t be riding with me much so I really don’t need a 900lb tourer as I get older. I really liked the Heritage 114 I rode. It ticks all the box’s for me and looks bad ass. However the price makes me cringe. In Canada it’s $26,499 + freight/PDI + Tax = $29,500 out the door. Whereas the other bike I like is the Kawasaki Vaquero (1700cc, 6spd, ABS, Cruise control, stereo, frame mounted ferring, engine guard) for $18,000 out the door. That’s a huge difference in price. This summer I will rent a Heritage and put a few thousand KM’s on it to see how it really works for me. For now I’ll keep riding my Vstrom 1000 and keep saving my pennies. Highmilagerider I like the Kawasaki Vaquero too and you do get a lot for your money for certain. It’s a different type of bike than the Heritage and I’m just not sure I want that big a bike, but it is appealing. Great video. You and I have a lot in common. We're the same age, same height and stature. You have the C50 and I'm on Volusia. This is why I enjoy your videos and value your opinion. You are helping me to decide between the Heritage and the Chief Vintage. I really really love the styling of the Vintage, but the weight of it bothers me. Like you, I'm concerned about slow maneuvering and backing it up. I plan on getting a newer bike this April or May. I will definitely be checking out the 2018 Heritage. Alton Gage I love the Road Kings and Indians too but I just don’t want that much weight. I think you’ll like the Heritage. Sitting on the bike it’s very similar to the Suzuki Boulevard C50 models just with a bigger motor and more advanced technology. Great video! I live in the UK and have just bought a new Low Rider. I’ve added heated grips, cruise control, windscreen, saddlebags and backrest and am now waiting for some decent weather so that I can ride it! At the moment our weather is cold and wet and the roads are regularly covered with salt and grit, but we do have some milder days in winter, too, so I’m hoping to break it in over the next few weeks. I liked your review. Watching the road go by as you gave your review was soothing. It made me want to jump on my bike and find a long stretch of 2 lane road and go for a cruise. I ended up buying a 2019 FLHT Electra Glide Standard brand new a couple years ago. I almost went with the Heritage like what you were riding here because I was upgrading from a 2002 Fatboy and softails were something I was used too. I guess I just wanted a totally different flavor in the end and went for the touring chassis and I have no regrets. Stay safe out there.

@@GARamblinMan No particular recommendations. Got to make sure what HWY pegs you buy fit what crash/engine guard you got. The first set I bought, didn't work for me, the way they were designed put my Hwy pegs out TOO wide. wasn't comfortable. Found a different, more "simpler" set, Worked great. Had to fiddle with it, get them just the right height, and angle for me, Then tightened down good. It's just one of those things, I got used to on my Heritage.. hwy pegs, rider backrest, cruise control, floor boards.. . I can't imaging riding anything that don't have all that :). Recently sold my 2016 Heritage, savin' up my dough for a new one..
I have a 2018 Heritage. I love the bike. It is a great choice if you a looking for a bike that is fun to ride when you are cruising, and that you can also take touring. The only things I would like to have on the bike are the ability to adjust the suspension without removing the seat, and quick disconnects for the saddlebags. I've also had an issue with condensation in the gauge, which is a problem on some Harley's in general.

Great review! I have a 2009 Heritage with very low miledge that I bought or almost stole this past summer that i absolutely love. If you and nc stoney don't stop talking about all the improvements on the new models, I may have to look at upgrading. 😁
Randy Simmons I like the older Heritage Softails too. In fact I’m always searching EBay for older models and it is tempting sometimes to think of paying half the price and getting a nice clean lower mileage one a few years old. I’ve pretty much decided I want one that has the ABS brakes at a minimum. Good on ya, Georgia Rambling Man! Glad you're getting a thorough exposure to Indian Springfields, Harley Road Kings and Heritage Softails - that's the way to figure out what suits you best! The Arizona landscape is an added plus. As for me... three days ago I bought a 2016 Harley Police Road King. 103 Twin Cam, Vivid Black, louder pipes, LED brake lights, smoked turn signal covers, only 2,000 miles... when I rode it home I was thinking "OH NO WHAT HAVE I DONE?" because of the handlebars and things being different from my M50, but yesterday I had a great three-hour Getting To Know You session on my bike and, well, fell in love. The Road King is a great choice for me! (BTW, I'm 6' 3" and 300 pounds.) And I installed the USMC eagle, globe and anchor points cover my son-in-law gave me. The one it came with became a Christmas ornament to be hung on the tree. Annnnnd the Road King seat is so much better than my Suzuki M50 stock seat. No back pain. (Anybody in the market for a good 2008 Suzuki Boulevard M50?) My RK has a heel-toe shifter; I have learned to like that heel shifter. That being said, yes, the Harley Heritage Softail is a real contender for best bike ever. I was really impressed with 2019 the 107 I rode. Beware the roadrunners!

Perfect bike, it’s close two things I would like to see mag rims and the bags a little bit bigger. It’s on my short list with the road king I keep going back and forth on which one to get. 🤔
I wish the bags were a little bigger too and I wish it had mag wheels and tubeless tires, especially after my flat tire in the middle of nowhere. But the spokes do give it that old school look. And I went back and forth about a million times on the Heritage or Road King. I’m happy with the Heritage but I’m sure I would have been just as happy with the Road King. It's a beautiful Bike. I ride a 2017 RK and it suits my needs but both bikes are in the same category basically. I don't want the music the ferrings and this n that. I love the stripped down ( what I call the Marlon Brando look...LOL!) basics. It's not for everyone...some like the creature comforts and that's ok. Being up here in Canada...that warm dessert ride is really appealing right about now!! Thanks for the ride!
Really good review. I'll tell you, I ride sport bikes and supermoto bikes too but I bought the Harley I wanted since I was a kid. I bought a new Heritage and in two weeks I rode 1400 miles just goofing around, no kidding, I didn't let it rest. Let all the naysayers say what they want about reliability blah blah blah, but they ARE reliable. Buy what you want, but I can tell you from experience now that there is nothing that stirs the motorcycle soul like a Harley on a rode just like the one you were on. Ride safe and remember, life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to slide in sideways, totally used up and worn out, jump of your Harley and shout ...man, what a ride!'
Great video, I have the same Motorcycle as you but with the 114ci, Id done a test ride on a soft tail slim with the 107ci motor and I would say to anyone don't waist your time with the 107ci when you can have the 114ci, The Heritage is light enough to push around the yard. bin riding since 1977 I think HD got it right this time,

Nice Video! I love my Heritage! I upgraded from a Kawasaki Vulcan S because I wanted a motorcycle that was more suited for longer distance travel. I will admit I was a little apprehensive because it is such a big upgrade over the Vulcan S, but that vaporized when I took it for a test ride. I test rode both the 107 and 114, and I found the 114 to be smoother which made my decision. I love the Iron Red Denim color, but ended up choosing the Industrial Grey Denim with Black two tone. Right now it is winter here in Indiana, and the monster is in the garage waiting for spring. Stay safe out there and happy holidays!
An upgrade for me is sooner than later I think. I saw one today with your gray and black color scheme. How easy it to keep the denim or matte finish bikes clean and looking good?
@@GARamblinMan I never had any problems, both my Vulcan S and Heritage had/has matte finish. I just use a soft dry cloth to wipe off any loose road dust that may have accumulated. I use a cleaner/detailer that is designed for matte finishes as needed. The Ducky brand on Revzilla is good, I got that based on reviews, no complaints.
Funny, I have a Vulcan S as my first bike, and this bike is what I’m considering as my next. The Vulcan S is a great bike, but it’s not designed for longer trips. I test drove a Softail today with the 107 and it drove great. I did discover quickly the difference in the big V-twin rev limit and the small parallel twin rev limit. I’m used to being able to rev out my bike, and the Harley doesn’t like that lol

There that way for a reason... one it's illegal to have high beams on at the same time! So even cars/trucks shut them off when you switch to high. I put the engine guard mounted H.D. lights on my street glide and they shut down just the same. Just something to be aware of.
You did a great job and I also like the Heritage, however the problem is the price. Harley bikes are simply to expensive and no effort is made to lower the price.
GRM I don’t ever want just a windshield only bike ever again they are a cold ride here in north GA. In late fall and winter and if you keep on waiting you will have to keep on saving , my suggestion is if you really want one buy it and if it isn’t equipped enough upgrade to the next model , I went with a SGS and I don’t regret my purchase it has the features I wanted ride safe

I had an 07 heritage loved that bike! But hated its cornering went to a street glide it handles and rides better but it's time for a new bike and I am eyeing the new Heritage! Its definitely on the short list but most likely it will be another street glide. I need to ride them both again.

Just traded my 14 heritage in on a 2019 114 in Rawhide an black kinda sucks trading in winter type weather but the dealers are little more lacs in thier pricing today was the frist day I decent weather to try her out between the new supension an the 114 M8 i have to say as good as the 103 was the 114 is Better I added the quick connect backrest with the built in luggage rack highway bar with pegs I plan on doing a full exhaust upgrade later indeed the Heritage is best cruiser on the Market bottom line

Did you notice the original steam train water tower in Maricopa? Google Earth still shows it's there but I'm sure the hobo camp underneath it is long gone. I've been up and down AZ238 from Maricopa to Gila Bend more times than I have fingers and toes - and most of those times was before it was paved. I lived in Chandler from '88-02' and used to take Boy Scouts camping and hiking in the narrow mountain pass along the Butterfield Stagecoach Trail just north of the road. I think I was last there in '06 - certainly one of my favorite memories of living in AZ. But, of course, that's not the reason for commenting. I test rode a 2018 Heritage Classic 107 this summer the same day I test rode a Road King. The first thing I noticed just sitting on it was the missing 100 lbs (compared to the RK) but I can't say I noticed the missing weight when I was rolling on either bike. The second thing I noticed was the windshield was an inch or two shorter which, for my 5'11" height at least, made all the difference in the world - no bobble head - although I'm sure a shorter windshield on a RK would eliminate buffeting. The third thing I noticed was the mild vibration at idle on the HC that was noticeably less on the RK although neither transmitted vibrations while in motion. The fourth thing I noticed was the HC seat was not as comfortable to my bony bum as the RK. The fifth thing I noticed was the bars on the HC are a bit taller than the RK and not quite as comfortable to me. (I was coming off a shoulder injury so that might have been a factor.) I took both bikes on the same ten mile route - certainly not long enough to form iron clad unassailable opinions, but the same turns on the same roads under the same conditions (my choice - it was a solo test ride) to compare and contrast the bikes against each other. I don't know that the HC is The Perfect Motorcycle but it certainly isn't a bad one. And neither is the RK for that matter. The HC comes in a broader range of colors with LED lighting while the RK looks like it is still a remnant of an earlier era. My wife likes to ride pillion so, unfortunately, the HC is off my short list. The HC pillion seats from HD are two inches narrower than those available for the RK and let's just say, for diplomatic purposes, my wife of 30 years needs a wider pillion perch. Thanks for the review of a great bike in one of my favorite locations. If you ever get a chance to take a multi-day ride on one of your business trips to AZ, head up AZ60 from Globe to Showlow through the Upper Salt River Canyon or up AZ191 from Clifton-Morence to Springerville. In good weather both are rides of a lifetime.
Mike Michaels I wanted to ride to Globe and Show Low last week but just a bit too cold and windy on that route. It’s still on my list though. The Road King and Heritage are a tough choice and if I was riding two up I would definitely go with the Road King. Look for Matt Laidlaw’s TH-cam video where he compares the Heritage and Road King. That would probably be very helpful to you. He works at his family’s HD dealership in Southern California and has some good reviews. I enjoyed the ride from Maricopa to Gila Bend. Also, my local HD dealer is supposed to be an Eagle Rider rental dealer in 2019 so that will give me a convenient opportunity to rent a HDs for extended periods.
@@GARamblinMan So I ended up in Phoenix the last week of March for business and had a day to spare so me and a couple buddies rented bikes at Eagle Rider Tempe and I took them on a one day tour through my old haunts - Florence, Globe, Roosevelt, Payson, Woods Canyon Lake. I waffled between a HC and RK - ended up taking a RK. We rode from 9:30am to 10pm with regular breaks - even hiked to the lower ruins at Tonto N.M.,. We did 400 miles without even really trying and I was 90% comfortable with the stock setup. The comfort, the M8, and the cruise control sold me. Five weeks later there is a 2017 RK with 319 miles on it sitting in my garage. I put the passenger backrest and grab rails on tonight for my wife. The rider backrest will go on tomorrow. I had fork fangs put on it before I picked it up and they killed the buffeting. We might choose a different seat after we put some miles on it or we might choose to trade up. But if she ever decides she done riding pillion I could see a HC taking its place in my garage.

So do you line Atl? I live up in the Gainesville area. I grew up in Arizona down in Yuma. I had an 05 Road King and now have a 14 Ultra Ltd. I miss the Road King in its handling. But you can’t beat hours and hours on the Ultra. Road 14 in September going up To the Smokys in one day.

As far as the backrest, I have purchased two HD Heritage bikes and changed both of the backrests as soon as I got them home. The stock rest is too short for my wife to be comfortable and she is not a tall lady. So I wound up with two backrests that are useless. Also, the angle of the stock pad on the backrest makes her sit too straight up, so I also purchased different pads on the backrest that were more comfortable. After all the years we have ridden together, I want her to be just as comfortable as I am. Not like some of these idiots that don't even have a backrest for their lady. Trying to be cool. Screw that.
I don’t like the backrests either that force you too far forward or make you sit up straighter than is natural and comfortable. Unfortunately a lot of them seem to do this. I agree that comfort trumps being cool any day. Thanks for watching and commenting. Ride safe.

A beautiful bike, GA, but at $20,000+....😲...😲...! I would love a fully bagged, mega-Bucks, Harley-Davidson in my dreams, but being Captain Sensible I make myself be satisfied with my £800 Honda. I'm curious. Have you tried the new Sport Glide? I'm in Australia and here the Sport Glide is $6200 cheaper and 12 Kg lighter. Thinking of getting one because like you I'm no longer as young as I think I am and the weight is becoming an issue.

Federal law prohibits using high beams and driving lights together. That’s the same for cars. There’s probably a way for a tech to bypass that lockout.
GA Ramblin Man I understand. I used to wire up fog lights on my cars to work whenever I wanted them to for the same reason. I want to see. I think newer vehicles make it harder because so many use a can bus system to run everything including lights. I enjoy your vlogs, ride on.

Nice video. I traded a 2017 Iron 883 for a 2019 Heritage Classic two months ago. I stopped into my dealer and saw it sitting there and they made me an offer I couldn't refuse. It was delivered a few days later. When I first looked hopped on, moving up from the smaller Sportster, I was a bit apprehensive. After a few minutes in the seat I was amazed at what a nice bike this is. It is comfortable with a very smooth ride and the 107 really gets it going. Handling is very good. I can toss it around in the twisties as good as I did with the Iron and it is great on the open highway. The saddlebags come in handy. The windshield does a great job deflecting the wind especially at high speeds. So far I have put LEDs in the rear turn signals, added running light/turn signals from paradiselightsllc.com/ to the front signals and a rider backrest from grasshopperlimited.com/. Probably going to add the engine guard and debating on slip-on mufflers.It's going in today for its 1K service. It really is close to perfection.
Smilin Jack No doubt HD makes a nice looking bike, however looks are not the only consideration. With your riding in Arizona and other desolate places, reliability would be one of my prime concerns. Check out consumers report before a final decision regarding HD. I think you'll find the bikes from Japan are rated much higher than the HD. I've been riding for over 50 years and had a couple of Harley-Davidsons. I currently am riding a Kawasaki Vaquaro. Without a doubt it is the best bike I've ever owned.

They are pricey like most all new Harley-Davidson motorcycles but I would say this one is a good value priced less than the bigger Street Glides, Road Glides and Ultra models. It’s most likely my next bike. Hard decision between the Heritage and Road King.
Ted Dworak I’m sure Harley will include that option some day if they think the baby boomers will like it and buy their motorcycles. Some never learned not to park if they were pointing downhill. I like the looks of the older Heritage models better, too. I’m more of a chrome guy so the new blacked out look is not something I particularly like. But some of upgrades are good like the LED lights and better display for the odometer and other information. Looks are a very subjective thing and everyone has different tastes. Yep, it’s the perfect motorcycle! But I’m prejudiced, owning a 2018 with a 114. Related to you with maneuvering around the garage and age. My previous bike was an ultra limited. Rode like a dream on the highways, but was too much to Maneuver around town as I got older. Test road a 107 Heritage, and that put me over the edge. Everything you described is true. So much lighter and nimble. Handles around town. Highway speeds and seating is comfortable. It’s a dream bike. Yep it’s perfect 👌🏻

I have a ‘15 Street Glide. I struggle to flat foot. So I’ve lowered it in the rear and trimmed the seat. Both have helped tremendously. BUT I test rode a 2020 heritage. O man does it ride smooth. The ride on my glide has always been a complaint of mine and I came from a ‘07 Sportster 1200 Custom. I’m really torn on getting a heritage and getting rid of the Street Glide
If you don’t need all the touring accessories and fairing, the Heritage is a great bike. Just fun to ride.
@@GARamblinMan I "need" a windshield/fairing and bags. I don't "need" the radio. Most of time I don't have it on or so low I can only hear it when stopped. Just hard to justify getting rid of a bike I paid so much for and is basically brand new. Then again, it's only money
I am very happy with my 2022 114 Heritage Classic after trading in my 2017 Street Glide Special. I wish this new softail was available in 2017. I'm older also (68). The lightness, compared to the Street Glide, was exactly what I wanted and the torque, flick-ability, lean angle.It even rides smoother. The looks makes me feel like I'm riding a real motorcycle again. There are so many SG's out there that they have deserved the "Me too" monicker. I get a lot more looks on this bike then I did on the SG. Don't get me wrong the SG was a great bike for it's intended purpose but it just didn't make me feel like I wanted to feel and that feeling is 90% of riding. Ride on and enjoy for joy is the purpose of life.
You bought it for the same reasons I did. I like the bigger touring bikes but just couldn’t justify the larger size and price tags. It was a tough call between the Heritage and Road King but I’m happy with it and I have taken several 3-4 day trips and it was great for that. Thanks for watching and commenting. Ride safe!
I bought the 114 heritage, my wife when dropping me off to pick it up made a deal to trade her low rider in on the 107 heritage. Rode the Blue Ridge trail last summer, spent almost two weeks traveling on them. Great ride, best purchase ive made. Funny, went in to buy a ultra limited, came out with the heritage

I have the 18 Heritage special Twisted Cherry. It has the 114. My personal advice is if you are seriously looking at this bike go with the 114. 107 is a great motor as well but that 114 really wakes the bike up. That’s just personal preference of course but it’s a great option. I could and do ride all day on mine. In the summer of course. Good luck and safe ride whichever way you choose.

Just bought a 2018 Twisted Cherry Heritage with 1,320 miles yesterday. I test drove both the 107 and the 114. I could not really tell the difference. I went with the 107 because it was cheaper. Trust me the 107 has plenty of power.
The Harley Heritage is the Swiss army knife of motocycles. It does everything and does it well.
It’s probably my next bike but some days I think Road King. Not sure if I want the extra 100 lbs.
I just bought a 2020 heritage classic V107 in vivid black. Im glad that I bought the bike and love that I can remove the windscreen, saddle bags and rear seat and boom you have a street cruiser that looks like the deluxe minus the white wall tires. The bike has all I need. I got the V107 and not the V114 because I love the chrome. All the front lights are LED except the blinkers. I just wish HD factory installed LED lights in the back especially the brake light.
I like the chrome on the 107 models, too. That’s plenty of motor for me. The lack of LED lights on the front turn signals and the rear turn signals and brake lights is a common gripe among Heritage owners. The Deluxe has LED all around so it’s strange HD doesn’t do the same for the Heritage. Thanks for watching and commenting. Ride safe.
Picked up a 2020 Heritage 114 a couple months ago. I love it. To make it perfect I would like quick detach bags like the sport glide and the suspension adjustment moved out from under the seat.

I bought one of these and put 32,000 miles on it so far. It could use brighter lights at night.
It needs a rain sock on the air filter.
The saddle bags need to be bigger so a gallon of milk and a case of beer fit in. Other than that the bike is perfectly wonderful. Louder exhaust would be nice.
I’ve had a new one for about a year now and I agree with your comments. The LED front lights are pretty bright and changing out the turn signals to LED helps even a little more. The bags look big but don’t hold as much as I thought. I put Vance & Hines Eliminator 300 slip on mufflers on mine and it sounds much better. Thanks for watching and commenting. Ride safe.

As you know I’m looking for my retirement bike as well. My wife has decided that she won’t be riding with me much so I really don’t need a 900lb tourer as I get older.
I really liked the Heritage 114 I rode. It ticks all the box’s for me and looks bad ass.
However the price makes me cringe. In Canada it’s $26,499 + freight/PDI + Tax = $29,500 out the door.
Whereas the other bike I like is the Kawasaki Vaquero (1700cc, 6spd, ABS, Cruise control, stereo, frame mounted ferring, engine guard) for $18,000 out the door. That’s a huge difference in price. This summer I will rent a Heritage and put a few thousand KM’s on it to see how it really works for me.
For now I’ll keep riding my Vstrom 1000 and keep saving my pennies.

Great video. You and I have a lot in common. We're the same age, same height and stature. You have the C50 and I'm on Volusia. This is why I enjoy your videos and value your opinion. You are helping me to decide between the Heritage and the Chief Vintage. I really really love the styling of the Vintage, but the weight of it bothers me. Like you, I'm concerned about slow maneuvering and backing it up. I plan on getting a newer bike this April or May. I will definitely be checking out the 2018 Heritage. Alton Gage I love the Road Kings and Indians too but I just don’t want that much weight. I think you’ll like the Heritage. Sitting on the bike it’s very similar to the Suzuki Boulevard C50 models just with a bigger motor and more advanced technology. Great video! I live in the UK and have just bought a new Low Rider. I’ve added heated grips, cruise control, windscreen, saddlebags and backrest and am now waiting for some decent weather so that I can ride it! At the moment our weather is cold and wet and the roads are regularly covered with salt and grit, but we do have some milder days in winter, too, so I’m hoping to break it in over the next few weeks. I liked your review. Watching the road go by as you gave your review was soothing. It made me want to jump on my bike and find a long stretch of 2 lane road and go for a cruise. I ended up buying a 2019 FLHT Electra Glide Standard brand new a couple years ago. I almost went with the Heritage like what you were riding here because I was upgrading from a 2002 Fatboy and softails were something I was used too. I guess I just wanted a totally different flavor in the end and went for the touring chassis and I have no regrets. Stay safe out there.

@@GARamblinMan No particular recommendations. Got to make sure what HWY pegs you buy fit what crash/engine guard you got. The first set I bought, didn't work for me, the way they were designed put my Hwy pegs out TOO wide. wasn't comfortable. Found a different, more "simpler" set, Worked great. Had to fiddle with it, get them just the right height, and angle for me, Then tightened down good. It's just one of those things, I got used to on my Heritage.. hwy pegs, rider backrest, cruise control, floor boards.. . I can't imaging riding anything that don't have all that :). Recently sold my 2016 Heritage, savin' up my dough for a new one..
I have a 2018 Heritage. I love the bike. It is a great choice if you a looking for a bike that is fun to ride when you are cruising, and that you can also take touring. The only things I would like to have on the bike are the ability to adjust the suspension without removing the seat, and quick disconnects for the saddlebags. I've also had an issue with condensation in the gauge, which is a problem on some Harley's in general.

Randy Simmons I like the older Heritage Softails too. In fact I’m always searching EBay for older models and it is tempting sometimes to think of paying half the price and getting a nice clean lower mileage one a few years old. I’ve pretty much decided I want one that has the ABS brakes at a minimum. As for me... three days ago I bought a 2016 Harley Police Road King. 103 Twin Cam, Vivid Black, louder pipes, LED brake lights, smoked turn signal covers, only 2,000 miles... when I rode it home I was thinking "OH NO WHAT HAVE I DONE?" because of the handlebars and things being different from my M50, but yesterday I had a great three-hour Getting To Know You session on my bike and, well, fell in love. The Road King is a great choice for me! (BTW, I'm 6' 3" and 300 pounds.) And I installed the USMC eagle, globe and anchor points cover my son-in-law gave me. The one it came with became a Christmas ornament to be hung on the tree.
Annnnnd the Road King seat is so much better than my Suzuki M50 stock seat. No back pain.
(Anybody in the market for a good 2008 Suzuki Boulevard M50?)
My RK has a heel-toe shifter; I have learned to like that heel shifter.
That being said, yes, the Harley Heritage Softail is a real contender for best bike ever. I was really impressed with 2019 the 107 I rode.

Perfect bike, it’s close two things I would like to see mag rims and the bags a little bit bigger. It’s on my short list with the road king I keep going back and forth on which one to get. 🤔
I wish the bags were a little bigger too and I wish it had mag wheels and tubeless tires, especially after my flat tire in the middle of nowhere. But the spokes do give it that old school look. And I went back and forth about a million times on the Heritage or Road King. I’m happy with the Heritage but I’m sure I would have been just as happy with the Road King. It's a beautiful Bike. I ride a 2017 RK and it suits my needs but both bikes are in the same category basically. I don't want the music the ferrings and this n that. I love the stripped down ( what I call the Marlon Brando look...LOL!) basics. It's not for everyone...some like the creature comforts and that's ok. Being up here in Canada...that warm dessert ride is really appealing right about now!! Thanks for the ride!

Really good review. I'll tell you, I ride sport bikes and supermoto bikes too but I bought the Harley I wanted since I was a kid. I bought a new Heritage and in two weeks I rode 1400 miles just goofing around, no kidding, I didn't let it rest. Let all the naysayers say what they want about reliability blah blah blah, but they ARE reliable. Buy what you want, but I can tell you from experience now that there is nothing that stirs the motorcycle soul like a Harley on a rode just like the one you were on. Ride safe and remember, life's journey is not to arrive at the
grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to slide in sideways, totally used up and worn out, jump of your Harley and shout ...man, what a ride!'

Great video, I have the same Motorcycle as you but with the 114ci, Id done a test ride on a soft tail slim with the 107ci motor and I would say to anyone don't waist your time with the 107ci when you can have the 114ci, The Heritage is light enough to push around the yard. bin riding since 1977 I think HD got it right this time,

Nice Video! I love my Heritage! I upgraded from a Kawasaki Vulcan S because I wanted a motorcycle that was more suited for longer distance travel. I will admit I was a little apprehensive because it is such a big upgrade over the Vulcan S, but that vaporized when I took it for a test ride. I test rode both the 107 and 114, and I found the 114 to be smoother which made my decision. I love the Iron Red Denim color, but ended up choosing the Industrial Grey Denim with Black two tone. Right now it is winter here in Indiana, and the monster is in the garage waiting for spring. Stay safe out there and happy holidays!
An upgrade for me is sooner than later I think. I saw one today with your gray and black color scheme. How easy it to keep the denim or matte finish bikes clean and looking good?
@@GARamblinMan I never had any problems, both my Vulcan S and Heritage had/has matte finish. I just use a soft dry cloth to wipe off any loose road dust that may have accumulated. I use a cleaner/detailer that is designed for matte finishes as needed. The Ducky brand on Revzilla is good, I got that based on reviews, no complaints.
Funny, I have a Vulcan S as my first bike, and this bike is what I’m considering as my next.
The Vulcan S is a great bike, but it’s not designed for longer trips.
I test drove a Softail today with the 107 and it drove great. I did discover quickly the difference in the big V-twin rev limit and the small parallel twin rev limit. I’m used to being able to rev out my bike, and the Harley doesn’t like that lol
I have 2020 Heritage beautiful bike smooth ride and nimble and the M8 114 can’t go wrong

The running lites can be programmed to stay on with the high beams at your local HD Shop.

There that way for a reason... one it's illegal to have high beams on at the same time! So even cars/trucks shut them off when you switch to high. I put the engine guard mounted H.D. lights on my street glide and they shut down just the same. Just something to be aware of.
You did a great job and I also like the Heritage, however the problem is the price. Harley bikes are simply to expensive and no effort is made to lower the price.

GRM I don’t ever want just a windshield only bike ever again they are a cold ride here in north GA. In late fall and winter and if you keep on waiting you will have to keep on saving , my suggestion is if you really want one buy it and if it isn’t equipped enough upgrade to the next model , I went with a SGS and I don’t regret my purchase it has the features I wanted ride safe

there is company that makes a batwing fairing that fits the heritage if you like the glide touring bikes looks on the front end it looks pretty good

I had an 07 heritage loved that bike! But hated its cornering went to a street glide it handles and rides better but it's time for a new bike and I am eyeing the new Heritage! Its definitely on the short list but most likely it will be another street glide. I need to ride them both again.

Just traded my 14 heritage in on a 2019 114 in Rawhide an black kinda sucks trading in winter type weather but the dealers are little more lacs in thier pricing today was the frist day I decent weather to try her out between the new supension an the 114 M8 i have to say as good as the 103 was the 114 is Better I added the quick connect backrest with the built in luggage rack highway bar with pegs I plan on doing a full exhaust upgrade later indeed the Heritage is best cruiser on the Market bottom line

Did you notice the original steam train water tower in Maricopa? Google Earth still shows it's there but I'm sure the hobo camp underneath it is long gone. I've been up and down AZ238 from Maricopa to Gila Bend more times than I have fingers and toes - and most of those times was before it was paved. I lived in Chandler from '88-02' and used to take Boy Scouts camping and hiking in the narrow mountain pass along the Butterfield Stagecoach Trail just north of the road. I think I was last there in '06 - certainly one of my favorite memories of living in AZ. But, of course, that's not the reason for commenting.
I test rode a 2018 Heritage Classic 107 this summer the same day I test rode a Road King. The first thing I noticed just sitting on it was the missing 100 lbs (compared to the RK) but I can't say I noticed the missing weight when I was rolling on either bike. The second thing I noticed was the windshield was an inch or two shorter which, for my 5'11" height at least, made all the difference in the world - no bobble head - although I'm sure a shorter windshield on a RK would eliminate buffeting. The third thing I noticed was the mild vibration at idle on the HC that was noticeably less on the RK although neither transmitted vibrations while in motion. The fourth thing I noticed was the HC seat was not as comfortable to my bony bum as the RK. The fifth thing I noticed was the bars on the HC are a bit taller than the RK and not quite as comfortable to me. (I was coming off a shoulder injury so that might have been a factor.) I took both bikes on the same ten mile route - certainly not long enough to form iron clad unassailable opinions, but the same turns on the same roads under the same conditions (my choice - it was a solo test ride) to compare and contrast the bikes against each other.
I don't know that the HC is The Perfect Motorcycle but it certainly isn't a bad one. And neither is the RK for that matter. The HC comes in a broader range of colors with LED lighting while the RK looks like it is still a remnant of an earlier era.
My wife likes to ride pillion so, unfortunately, the HC is off my short list. The HC pillion seats from HD are two inches narrower than those available for the RK and let's just say, for diplomatic purposes, my wife of 30 years needs a wider pillion perch.
Thanks for the review of a great bike in one of my favorite locations. If you ever get a chance to take a multi-day ride on one of your business trips to AZ, head up AZ60 from Globe to Showlow through the Upper Salt River Canyon or up AZ191 from Clifton-Morence to Springerville. In good weather both are rides of a lifetime.
Mike Michaels I wanted to ride to Globe and Show Low last week but just a bit too cold and windy on that route. It’s still on my list though. The Road King and Heritage are a tough choice and if I was riding two up I would definitely go with the Road King. Look for Matt Laidlaw’s TH-cam video where he compares the Heritage and Road King. That would probably be very helpful to you. He works at his family’s HD dealership in Southern California and has some good reviews.

Also, my local HD dealer is supposed to be an Eagle Rider rental dealer in 2019 so that will give me a convenient opportunity to rent a HDs for extended periods.
@@GARamblinMan So I ended up in Phoenix the last week of March for business and had a day to spare so me and a couple buddies rented bikes at Eagle Rider Tempe and I took them on a one day tour through my old haunts - Florence, Globe, Roosevelt, Payson, Woods Canyon Lake. I waffled between a HC and RK - ended up taking a RK. We rode from 9:30am to 10pm with regular breaks - even hiked to the lower ruins at Tonto N.M.,. We did 400 miles without even really trying and I was 90% comfortable with the stock setup. The comfort, the M8, and the cruise control sold me. Five weeks later there is a 2017 RK with 319 miles on it sitting in my garage. I put the passenger backrest and grab rails on tonight for my wife. The rider backrest will go on tomorrow. I had fork fangs put on it before I picked it up and they killed the buffeting. We might choose a different seat after we put some miles on it or we might choose to trade up. But if she ever decides she done riding pillion I could see a HC taking its place in my garage.

about the passing lamps turning off when you turn on the high beams your dealer can change that in software in about 10 minutes .

apparently some states allow passing lamps to be on with high beams , some don't , so HD took the safe route and made them off by default .

I had an 05 Road King and now have a 14 Ultra Ltd. I miss the Road King in its handling. But you can’t beat hours and hours on the Ultra. Road 14 in September going up To the Smokys in one day.

As far as the backrest, I have purchased two HD Heritage bikes and changed both of the backrests as soon as I got them home. The stock rest is too short for my wife to be comfortable and she is not a tall lady. So I wound up with two backrests that are useless. Also, the angle of the stock pad on the backrest makes her sit too straight up, so I also purchased different pads on the backrest that were more comfortable. After all the years we have ridden together, I want her to be just as comfortable as I am. Not like some of these idiots that don't even have a backrest for their lady. Trying to be cool. Screw that.
I don’t like the backrests either that force you too far forward or make you sit up straighter than is natural and comfortable. Unfortunately a lot of them seem to do this. I agree that comfort trumps being cool any day. Thanks for watching and commenting. Ride safe.

Certainly a change in scenery, GA! from the chilly East Coast to the hot and sandy West Coast..with Cacti! A lovely ride, shades of I-40 and Route 66! A beautiful bike, GA, but at $20,000+....😲...😲...! I would love a fully bagged, mega-Bucks, Harley-Davidson in my dreams, but being Captain Sensible I make myself be satisfied with my £800 Honda. Remember how satisfied you were/are with your lovely, practical Suzuki Boulevard!... 😚 ....! Enjoy your trip in AZ. It will be nice to get some more videos of it before you leave for home! I'm curious. Have you tried the new Sport Glide? I'm in Australia and here the Sport Glide is $6200 cheaper and 12 Kg lighter. Thinking of getting one because like you I'm no longer as young as I think I am and the weight is becoming an issue.

Federal law prohibits using high beams and driving lights together. That’s the same for cars. There’s probably a way for a tech to bypass that lockout.

GA Ramblin Man I understand. I used to wire up fog lights on my cars to work whenever I wanted them to for the same reason. I want to see. I think newer vehicles make it harder because so many use a can bus system to run everything including lights. I enjoy your vlogs, ride on.

Nice video. I traded a 2017 Iron 883 for a 2019 Heritage Classic two months ago. I stopped into my dealer and saw it sitting there and they made me an offer I couldn't refuse. It was delivered a few days later. When I first looked hopped on, moving up from the smaller Sportster, I was a bit apprehensive. After a few minutes in the seat I was amazed at what a nice bike this is. It is comfortable with a very smooth ride and the 107 really gets it going. Handling is very good. I can toss it around in the twisties as good as I did with the Iron and it is great on the open highway. The saddlebags come in handy. The windshield does a great job deflecting the wind especially at high speeds. So far I have put LEDs in the rear turn signals, added running light/turn signals from paradiselightsllc.com/ to the front signals and a rider backrest from grasshopperlimited.com/. Probably going to add the engine guard and debating on slip-on mufflers.It's going in today for its 1K service. It really is close to perfection.

No doubt HD makes a nice looking bike, however looks are not the only consideration. With your riding in Arizona and other desolate places, reliability would be one of my prime concerns. Check out consumers report before a final decision regarding HD. I think you'll find the bikes from Japan are rated much higher than the HD. I've been riding for over 50 years and had a couple of Harley-Davidsons. I currently am riding a Kawasaki Vaquaro. Without a doubt it is the best bike I've ever owned.

They are pricey like most all new Harley-Davidson motorcycles but I would say this one is a good value priced less than the bigger Street Glides, Road Glides and Ultra models. It’s most likely my next bike. Hard decision between the Heritage and Road King.
There are a lot of baby boomers out there, when cruisers will be equipped with reverse.
Ted Dworak I’m sure Harley will include that option some day if they think the baby boomers will like it and buy their motorcycles. Some never learned not to park if they were pointing downhill. Harley is dead . Sorry man but the 2018 softails look like cheap plastic replicas . I am glad I own a 2016 model . The only thing Harley want is to push the ridiculously expensive touring models . Sad .
I like the looks of the older Heritage models better, too. I’m more of a chrome guy so the new blacked out look is not something I particularly like. But some of upgrades are good like the LED lights and better display for the odometer and other information. Looks are a very subjective thing and everyone has different tastes.
