I bought this as soon as I saw it in the eshop. I love Shmups and I love fantasy, so it was a no brainer. Love it so far. I love the animations of the bosses and the heroes. I really love how the rider is the hitbox, I thought that was clever. The splitting from your dragon mechanic is really innovative. I've only played a couple stages, but super impressed so far.
This is my first Psikyo game. If it's at all representative of what they bring to the table, then I need to get more Psikyo games

I pity your bank balance if you want to collect these games. Some of them are ridiculously expensive. That's what makes the Switch ports so enticing.
I've never seen this one at the arcades. But it looks fun and hard!

Dragon Blaze have a mobile port on app store and google play and I played it for 3-5 days before uninstalling it. It really is a hell even at the lowest difficulty.

The best shmup I’ve played on Switch has got to be Danmaku Unlimited 3. Surprised it wasn’t mentioned!

Great review. Just purchased Dragon Blaze and looking forward to trying it out after watching this. Big fan of the Psikyo games. Agree with the video that Gunbird and Zero Gunner 2 are up there at the very top of the pile. Danmaku Unlimited 3 is a bit of a different beast, but I think it can hold itself right up there with the best of the best as well.
Vamphaery2 NoLastName check out the comments above buddy. We did mention Danmaku 3. Juan here and I reviewed that one for the channel and I agree it's one of the best bullet hells on Switch.
Vamphaery2 NoLastName Yea...I’d say it is a bit strange considering the soundtrack is all metal lol. Personally I love hard rock but I wouldn’t describe it as meditative. The patterns are definitely mesmerizing though.
An equal of Tengai, you can't get a higher recommendation than that.
If you only ever buy 2 shoot-em-ups for your Switch, make sure it's this beauty and Tengai.
You also can't go wrong with Blazing Star. I've heard that Danmaku Unlimited 3 is good, too.
Ferdinand Avila-Soto Yep Blazing Star is great, although I prefer Pulstar overall. Danmaku Unlimited 3 is brilliant but it's different, crazy hard bullet hell. Of the modern shooters on Switch Steredenn is my favourite, then SkyForce Reloaded, then Danmaku 3 :)
Yeah man, I would personally add Gunbird to that list too.
I heard the input lag is really bad on this one. Like many of the Switch ports.

Kirsteen Lockwood There's still a few more, Strikers 1945 III , Gunbird 2, Cho Aniki, Zero Gunner, Space Bomber and Canon Spike. Gunbird 2 and Strikers 3 being the best of that bunch.

Good port, but these games for me only in FBA emulator + light scanlines (for the depth) = arcade

Seriously got clickbaited but not from your end. There is a mobile game called dragon blaze, just another gacha game but I've probably spent well over $1000 on it. So I was thinking here lately if they ported it or a mobile game is probably pick up my switch more. But damn if this looks good. Will definitely be a purchase
Holy cow $1000! I must admit when searching for the poster art found in the thumbnail I had to wade through a horde of mobile-game looking screenshots. Must be that.

Yeah I think so. Although you will need to prop your Switch up on something.

So this port is better than the Zero Gunner 2 port? Zero Gunner 2 on the switch was an innacurate mess and it still kind of is even after the update.

timw It's already out in the US and Japan but for some reason it never made it to Europe this week. Next week for Europe then it looks like.
