As a fan of Metroidvanias, I found this game about a year ago, and I must say it is one of my favourites in that genre up-to-day! It's very underrated and it blows my mind how many people don't know about such a gem!
I wonder if anyone mentioned there's a LITERAL "no pants rule" when the characters were designed. Meaning all the characters were designed to wear stuff that avoids wearing pants.... quite literally in the cases of Miru and Cicini
I've only seen screenshots of this, and it kinda got lost in the sea of indie pixel games, but I didn't know it was a Metroidvania! I definitely need to pick this one up soon
While it does qualify as a Metroidvania, it feels so much more strongly like a bullet hell game. If you're looking for a good Metroidvania but aren't familiar with bullet hell games, you might not like this.
@@patyos2 I wouldn't really consider it RPG-like level ups unless you're referring to FF8-style leveling. Bosses get harder with every item and upgrade you make.
Really happy that you enjoyed the game so much. It's probably one of my favourite games as of now. The gameplay just flows so well in my opinion and the look of the game is fantastic. I really like the cutesy looking characters and overall colour palette. The pixel art stand out to me from other 16-bit graphics and it just gives of this really nice charm. And don't even get me started on the music. It's probably one of my favourite OSTs ever. Whoever composed those songs is a genius. Also really nice video. I think you gave very detailed information about the game in this video and addressed the most important aspects. I really enjoyed the video. Good work!
This game is really underrated. Probably my favourite MetroidVania/BulletHell. Also this game may look cute but it's difficult as hell, the higher difficulties are no joke.
Man, I love this game so much! Admittedly, I first got this game because Erina looked alot like Reisen, which caught my interest. Hopefully at some point I can finish that level hack I've been working on for ages...
Aight, I'm defintely getting this. It's been on my steam wishlist for a while now along with a hundred other things, but I've always been preoccupied with bigger games.
I pirated it on my vita long time ago, forgot about it and then played it and it was really nice. Seriously didn't expect something this "wholesome" feeling. I thought I'd get something cheap, but it felt really... honest I would say. The story being pretty laid back is nice. I've yet to finish the game tho, I kinda need to get back to it, last time I touched it was months ago.
Rabi-Ribi was actually one of the first few Steam games I ever bought once I had a decent PC, and I recently bought it again for the Switch. While I do feel it can get a bit absurd with its difficulty, it's a very underrated Metroidvania. Glad you liked it.
I'm glad you enjoyed the game! Rabi Ribi is really great. If you completed the game and want to do an interesting challenge run, I suggest trying the 0% run, where you don't grab ANY items (except the easter eggs if you want). It is possible to complete the game AND post game without ever grabbing the hammer or any other Erina upgrade (except the medallion since that's story-progression related), and it's pretty challenging!
I just keep coming back to this game from time to time, the plot is kinda silly but they still manage to make you care, the gameplay is really good, there are some pretty obvious Mega Man inspirations in it, and I always feel like I want to improve in this game. It's also nice how you can choose if the difficulty'll be adjust based on how far into the game you are, or by how many upgrades you collected
This game is amazing, I'm glad you've checked it out and enjoyed it. It has a lot of charm and personality, and a pretty unique mix of gameplay styles, so I'm always happy to see it getting more attention. It has some of the best boss battles I've seen in any game.
After watching your review I decided to buy this game. Because I prefer physical games I searched for the PS4 retail version which I ordered for a cheap price.
I still haven’t bought this game on the Nintendo eshop. Hoping for like a Limited run physical copy if it ever gets that. I recall prior to the launch of the game for switch that there was a contest where the winner would receive a unique color scheme joy cons and it looked pretty cool. Anyways the OST for this game is legit Dope.
Hello! I just found out about that game and I have a question...there is an epilepsy warning at the beginning. I haven't epilepsy but a kind of migraine with aura which affects the eyes much and causes dizzyness, tired feeling and eye+headache in a few Seconds or minutes by watching flickering things or fast Lights. I know this is bullet hell. But do you think (just guess, I know you can't know how my problems are) with decreased light and breaks and in worst case the easy mode (cause maybe less flashing???) its possible to play trough? I already love this game from seeing Trailers :`D Thank you If you read this, bye!
Many people I know have been put-off by Rabi-Ribi because of its lewd designs. I know quite a few people who won't play it because they think the game is overly sexualized. Me personally - I love the game. It's one of the most satisfying platformers just in general and likely one of my favorite games on all of Steam as a whole. I especially get a kick out of its OST - one of the few that I put on my phone to listen to on my daily commute to work.
🤣🤣🤣 No, the anime games become popular since the 80's. I was there. Macross Saint Seiya Captain Tsubasa Rayearth Sailor Moon Dragon Ball Samurai Pizza Cats Ranma 1/2 Evangelion
will you be making a video about Azur Lane Crosswave? im curious about the game, but i dont want to buy it without knowing anything about it. I mean sure i could probably find an already existing review, simply you are curently the only channel im subscribed to who makes informative videos about anime styled games
@@YSN That makes sense. I was honestly just surprised considering how prominent the term has become over the last ten or so years and how game reviewers across the board have this tendency to fling genre names and buzzwords around to compare instead of actually review stuff. I'm quite surprised you still respond to comments under such old videos. It's been some time since I last checked out this channel as well (you pretty much got me started on the Disgaea series as well as the whole sub-genre of Ecchi games some years back), so I'm glad you set me up on another great looking game. I've been playing this on PS Vita in Novice mode. It has been easy until the latest difficulty spike. Fighting "Master". The game seems to outstay its welcome for me. I just want it to end and I may just give up. All the bosses are the exact same thing to me - just fighting one of the girls for the nth time - yes they repeat these fights ad nausium. The music is good I agree. From metroidvania standpoint sometimes the map progression is blocked off with a "we cant go there cause it feels scary" or similar to paraphrase. Or other times, some faires need to discover an area and report back for you to go there. It's design is flawed in parts. Also, the bunny bombs are clunky as all hell as you take several moments of clunk to execute the bomb drop. The game has its good points and is a good metroidvania up until it outstays its welcome for me.
"pixel art" = NOPE. I ignored video gaming until the 3d era came in, and Disgaea's "two and a half D" is as far as I'm willing to backslide. This is the 21st century, there is no excuse for sprite crap in anything but babby's fust made-it-myself game that not even their mother is expected to claim is good.

it took me a good while to realise cicini doesn't wear pants, and when i noticed i was just like "oh goddammit"
6:30 On that note, the character designer intentionally decided to not give any of the characters any sort of pants, so that was neat
