    How are we doing peeps? I had the opportunity to review this Bullet Hell shooter game before the Attack on Titan 2 Review due to launch later this week which I am working on. This is a great little game if your a Bullet Hell shooter fan, although Jordan will probably have something to say about who is the shooter sheriff in town! I reckon I can take him on any Bullet hell :) Whats your favourite Bullet Hell game? Do you prefer the classics or something a little more modern?

    Finally beat the true last boss! ^^ (but not 1cc yet)
    The condition to fight TLB is reaching stage 5 on hard or true without continuing (you can continue in stage 5 though)
    When stage 4 is completed without using credits a message appears that says: "They are in awe of your power" and then you either choose "Do not hold back" or "Preserve your strength" (the former triggers the TLB)
    This can be done both in Spirit and Graze modes

    Nice review. I also like the dondonpachi series but i really think Danmaku is one of the better modern bullet hell shmups there is since Cave is asleep for now, and was mainly done by one person which for me makes it even more awesome to see one person come up with a good game like this.

    • @SwitchWatch

      Rasec46 totally agree buddy! Absolutely 100% with you. I hope Cave wake up because I would love to see some their games on Switch. Really like Mushihimesama and of course Dodonpachi.

    Glad Sunny Tam is getting the love & support from many platforms now. Such a talented developer. Would love if Aksys could re-relase the Castle of Shikigami series as a collection, as is where the original bullet grazing mechanic was introduced, I believe.

    Really a gem this one. Regarding the question for all time favourites of that kind: a difficult question, but I think to like the dodonpachi series the most. Especially Dai ou jou was great and had a top notch power leveling system. The pixelated design style of Dodonpachi (the 2nd one) is still a blast. Besides there where many pearls of that genre, mostly in the 90ies...

    I've always considered the Gradius series to be the greatest shoot em ups. Gradius on NES and Gradius 3 on SNES are still so much fun and its spin offs were amazing too. Life Force (Salamander outside the US) was awesome because it changed the environment from out in space to the inside of a body and the Parodius games are great because of their absurdity. I've never seen any other series that has its own series of parody games.

    I have always admired bullet hells for their visual marvel, and even more so the people who can master them. For me though, I settle with just looking on. I suck at these games, even more than I suck at vertical shooters, though I love playing those as I feel they still challenge me but without throwing the kitchen sink xD
    Question for you, more regarding vertical shooters; do you know of an obscure Irem classic called Dragon Breed?

    • @SwitchWatch
      @SwitchWatch  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      PikaLink91 I have heard of it. Back when I think it was Activision who brought it to the Amiga. I never got to try that game but you have now reminded me and I may need to try and play it somehow! I have always enjoyed bullet hells but end up getting too addicted so have to give them a break.

    • @SwitchWatch
      @SwitchWatch  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's awesome buddy! Did you try this one?

    • @duhmez
      @duhmez 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Totally have. I love it. I played Danmaku 2 on steam a little bit, but never spent any real time to get good at it. Too many steam sales and sort of lost it in the mix. This switch for #3 is an amazing game and very incredible how fast and smooth it plays. If you liked Ikaruga, check out Exceed 2nd on steam. it has the same mechanic as Ikaruge. Check my awesome exceed 2nd youtube video if u wanna see how it loks.. I osted a very good stage with hardest difficulty. I get a kjick out of doing the hardest setting and using no bombs as a personal challenge in these games.

    • @SwitchWatch
      @SwitchWatch  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds incredible, unfortunately, I only have time for the Switch right now as we get so many games to review on this platform that I have totally neglected my PC and other consoles. Just the way it has gone but I hope to get time to check it out. I will certainly check it on your channel to see what it's like. I love this game too but it is difficult, the thing is I love anything bullet hell. You sound like your an expert player.

    I'd advice against getting this on the switch. It looks far better on pc and is almost too tiny to be playable on the go. It still works but it's not that enjoyable compared to docked mode or pc version.

    • @SwitchWatch
      @SwitchWatch  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Vercia Poance hi buddy I think it's perfectly fine playing on the go. Yea it's smaller but it's not that much different to having it on a mobile device only here you get physical buttons. Docked mode is the preffered option but then you can make that case for most games and not everyone has a PC. Having the option to take this on the move is brilliant. So while I respect your opinion I disagree and fully recommend it on the Switch.

    i don't understand why TATE mode can't just stretch to fill the screen...i love schmups, but seems the only one that gets the resolutions & screen size right is DariusBurst..& I adore Danmaku, its fun, but I can only take so much of staring at a small space in the middle of my screen with so much used space..& I've tried shmups / pinball with vertical monitors, very nice, but some don't stretch.

    • @SwitchWatch
      @SwitchWatch  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably due to the resolution the game was developed in. Stretching it that far would distort the visuals. You could make the argument they could add additional visual perspective to this port, but that's probably a lot more difficult than it sounds. I see where you're coming from though, if this was a brand new release, not a port, then I would expect full tate coverage.

  • @graalcloud
    @graalcloud 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I was really hoping this would have a fullscreen vertical mode like DoDonPachi and Ikaruga, but from what you showed of the vertical mode it seems to still be letterboxed. That seems like a really odd design choice.

    • @SwitchWatch
      @SwitchWatch  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      John Redcorn even in docked mode it's the same. From what I understand for the developer to alter it to fill the screen would have meant altering the whole game and bullet patterns so it was converted as is. I guess it's a bit of a pain but it didn't alter the experience for me as the game is so good. Most of these type of bullet hell shooters converted to switch are the same.

    • @robloblaw5871
      @robloblaw5871 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    • @giygas_9577
      @giygas_9577 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      SwitchWatch Is there one you'd recommend over the other? From what I gather, Steredenn seems to have more depth and different kinds of weapons and enemies while this is more straight up bullet hell from beginning to end. I guess they're pretty different in a way.

    • @SwitchWatch
      @SwitchWatch  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Giygas_95 you are correct. Have you watched our review of Steredenn? Danmaku is straight up bullet hell but there is lots to master. Steredenn is a game with so much replayability due to its random nature. Each play is different. So it's hard to choose. Not an easy choice but we rated steredenn a 9 and Danmaku an 8. Both are excellent just in differing ways. Personally if I had to choose it would be Steredenn as it's full screen and Danmaku is letter boxed. Screen on Switch is already small enough.

    • @giygas_9577
      @giygas_9577 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      SwitchWatch Thanks, I probably watched about half of both reviews... I've been a little busy this morning which is why I didn't watch the whole videos. I love shoot em ups though so I'll most likely get both at some point. RECCA is one of my all time favorite shooters!

    This looks way too busy. The only bright things on the screen should be the player, the enemies, and the bullets. Bad things happen when pickups look like bullets and the bullets blend with the background. For example one of the most annoying levels is EoSD Stage 3 where the red bullets blend into the red background and the white bullets are quite hard to notice.

      Man, I hate that game. Don't seem to have made any effort to adapt things for a home console vs a free to play mobile game. So much grind I actually get bored during play. Something that definitely won't happen with DU3, which is absolutely excellent. Really good review, by the way, although personally I'd score it even higher than that 8.5.

In options you can: ->turn the picture-> choose wide off, and then on the TV in portrait mode (vertically, my constern for TV allows you to do this) to play Danmaku 42 inch vertical as a giant iPad is a great thrill! Of course, in full screen without frames (vertical) can be played on the screen Switch. I am very happy! :)

    Too much **** on the screen. It becomes an eyesore to even watch the trailer.

    Bought this recently. Very disappointed. Only a few levels. Levels and enemy are so bland, samey and very short. Glad I only paid £9. I'm going to pick up Skyforce reloaded and anniversary . I know they are not exactly bullet hell but there's much more levels. Much bigger levels. Different ships, lots of diff power ups etc and they are way more fun. only reason I went with this game first is because I thought it would be a safer bet as I've played the shit out of reloaded and anniversary on ps4 But I was wrong. The thing that I hate most about this game is the fact that you can let bullets hit you and it don't do any damage. When watching a review it looked fishy to me. Then I get the game and can dodge 1000's of bullets because they only very rarely do any damage. Don't feel like a badass or like I have skill. The games just gives me invincibility . Stupid.

      Howard I. Know on PC. Not everyone is able to play on a PC. Also if you have a Switch and want to take on the move then this is great. I disagree with your comment that's it's rubbish. Do you have a Switch and do you have this game? If so then fair enough but if not your judging something you have not played.

      SwitchWatch Have a Switch. Seen video reviews of this game. Too frenetic and too many colours onscreen - just looks very messy to me. The arcade shooters had a minimalist appeal and great gameplay. To me, this game genre doesn’t really need rainbow coloured effects added.

      Howard I. Know That's fair enough. Totally understand what you mean, although it's still really fun. What do think to Steredenn? Bit more minimalistic and a great shooter.
