Judge Windham Gives The Sentence
Robert Durst stands trial for the 2000 murder of friend Susan Berman. The trial began just before the pandemic in early 2020 and was halted two weeks in. The restart happened on May 17, 2021, with the same jury panel.
The defendant’s wife Kathleen McCormack Durst went missing in 1982. Evidence and testimony would show that Robert Durst killed her, the prosecutor said. The defendant allegedly told Berman it was an accident and asked her for help. She served as his alibi.
Berman, 55, was shot execution-style at her Beverly Hills home in 2000, and the prosecution suggested that it was because of what she knew about Kathleen’s death and disappearance. As defense lawyer Dick DeGuerin would have it, however, Durst is innocent. His client only came across the body, panicked, and fled, he maintained.

Wow the last minute and thirty seconds was incredible. The zooming in on his Face, the judge’s muffled voice that clears just as he’s committing him to the department of corrections, the ring of the bell, everyone stands, begin chatting and packing up, and the zoom out to see him sitting there all alone. No family, his lawyers not speaking to him. Everyones going home, on with their lives as the man who was given the world heads to prison for the rest of his life, old, decrepit and alone. Incredible.

His lawyers are appealing the verdict to get more money from durst.

And DeGuerin is not going to be his lawyer for his appeal he was interviewed and said it. He got enough money to fill his bank account.

I can’t even imagine the sadness her parents had to suffer. And I can’t imagine the CELEBRATION 🎉 of the prosecution!! Talk about 🥂!!!!!!!! The diligence and tenacity has paid off!! I guarantee Durst wants to eliminate the prosecution so badly but he can’t.
No amount of $ could save him this time.
Too bad he got away for so long with his crimes. He looked like he was going to die in the trial. He does not look like he will even last another 6 months.
Durst sliding down in his wheelchair, he looks like a kid who's couldn't talk his way out of a punishment and "Mommy" (cringe) took away his favorite toy.

Mr. Lewen thoroughly shredded the defense's attempt at a retrial. No chance of Durst walking away or those old attorneys collecting more of Durst's money. Durst goes into his pen and his solicitors need to go out to pasture.
They will get a lot more of his money when they file the appeal.
They decided BEFORE he even got up there. Lewan's 45 minute rant was totally unnecessary.
He used to live here. He dressed up as a mute old lady here too. 1997, our highschool girl got into a car and disappeared. The composit looks just like him from back then. I made the flyers and have been following him and researching him, even though he lived next to the ocean and we'll never find her. Karen, R.I.P

unfortunately the two main families, Kathie's and Susan Berman's have to litigate against his estate to ensure t hat none of his millions go back to his family after he dies, which seems to be imminent. There is already litigation in place in NY by Kathie's family to ensure their is a lien on his assets for exactly that sort of reason. Since his family hates him I'd say it will probably stick and his assets will be divvied up by the relatives of the murdered people.

Like Durst, she’s a powerful figure in New York City real estate.
Unlike Durst, it seems to be her passion. Charatan first came to fame in ” Alongside her son from her first marriage, she currently heads BCB Property Management, which has been instrumental in the gentrification of Crown Heights.
She met Durst in the late ’80s and dated him for at least two years.
According to the New York Times, the couple began dating in 1988, six years after Durst’s first wife Kathleen disappeared. Both came from tragic families: Durst’s mother had died in front of him, while Charatan’s parents had survived the Nazi invasion of Poland, which cost her father his foot. The pair moved into an Upper East Side apartment together in 1990, the same year Durst officially divorced his missing wife, but the cohabitation was short-lived. (She kept the apartment.) The pair stayed in contact throughout Durst’s travels in the ’90s, and she was reportedly a “lifeline” for him whenever he visited New York.
They were secretly married in December 2000. Subs divorced. Notice the NYJ connection. I'd say that her name is not the original Polish family name.

@Stephanie J Exactly. He is so narcissistic that he wanted a movie made about him. He is now and has always been a disgusting person. I just wish that there had been more work and better work done when Kathy disappeared or when Susan was murdered, so that he could have been put in prison years ago.

Right??? He was dynamite in this courtroom! He relentlessly and methodically went thru RD’s lies and his examination of him on the stand was like out of a movie; never seen anything like it. He should pat himself on the back and yes, take a long, much-earned and overdue vacation!!

I hope he lives long enough for Kathy's trial. His family will hate the coverage, and he'll hate having to sit through another trial, even though he so deserves every moment of discomfort. I only wish this trial had taken place much longer ago.

Wow! This has never happened to me before but im a carer for the elderly in their own homes and i find myself looking at this guy and feeling sorry for him! I dont know why because he deserves all he gets for his disgusting crimes! I should see the horrid murderer first and feel nothing for the frail elderly man but for some reason im seeing the frail old man first! I feel awful saying that but i cant help it!
