We were speechless a few weeks ago when we came here... we felt very fortunate to be able to see this splendor. The water there is a mix of sweet water (from the caves) and sea water...it's beautiful very cool. What time did you go? The beach was empty, I am assuming it was early morning... Nice upload 👌
I binge watched lots of your videos over the weekend including this one. Hugely informative and helpful. Thanks so much. Just out of curiosity, why did you choose Scalea? You have exploded up and down the Italian coast and mentioned going to Portugal. I love Portugal but I have now booked a trip to Scalea!!
Thank you for watching our videos. Why Scalea? That's a very good question. Its actually morphed over time. Tbis is the short version. First, after a lot of traveling around we knew we wanted Italy, but somewhere affordable in a place we would want to live, no hill towns for us. So a beach town with affordable prices really appealed to us. It had really good train connections, and was the first major stop coming from Rome or Naples and we could easily travel to all the other areas in Italy. Our original idea was to have a summer rental we could use when we felt like it. After spending a month here we realized we had been welcomed with open arms by the local community and we felt the same way. From then on our aim has been to spend as much time here as possible, hopefully live here full time. I think we will do a video about this as its really a bigger subject than I can explain here and its the #1 question we've been getting.
@@OurUnspoiledItaly That is brilliant. I look forward to the video. I am excited but nervous to visit Scalea. Like you, I was attracted by the affordability of the property, even more so now as energy prices and inflation go mad. I also love beach, sea and coastal walks. I don't want steep hill villages. In fact I want to manage without a car. Getting there seems a little tricky but after watching one of your videos I chose to fly into Rome and stay the night. All my fingers and toes are crossed!!! I hope I love Scalea. Keep up the great work!
