    Bought a D90 new many years ago, then a D7000, D5600 and a D750 to try full frame.
    I look back and I'm shocked by the color and clarity of my D90 pictures.
    I also have many lens, but also use the 18-105 and 35 prime for travel. I haven't used this combo in a while, but thinking of returning to it. Partly because I don't want to travel with expensive gear any longer.

    Ive been a fan and Pro-User of D90s for years and bought my latest one for 240AUS$ (£120 here in UK) in mint condition with less than 3000 clicks. I use AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR II Lens with it giving approx 105-300mm and can honestly say its breathtaking, fast focussing, and unbelievably sharp. Couldn't want a better lens. BTW Grant, excellent videos mate.

    Another lens I'd recommend for the D90 is the Tamron 18-200 f/3.5-6.3. Lower price compared to the 18-105 but offers a much higher focal length which is very useful for me.

      I haven't tried that one, but I use a Sigma 18-250 for my super zoom, and it goes a bit further still. Of course the optical quality isn't quite as good as a real nice prime lens like the 35mm F 1.8, but about equivalent to the 18-105 kit lens, just with a longer reach 🙂

    I mostly leave my old 80-200 f/2.8 on my D90.

  • @Cezarygon

    D90 + 35mm 1.8 is a marvelous set.
    The quality of foto is amazing, beautiful deep of field, with this kit, and bit of knowledge about how it works You can pretend a professional ;)
    Some foto can looks like classical 80-90 black and white.

    I fully agree with your Nikkor 35mm F 1.8 DX recommendation - an awesome little lens. For the cheap (but decent quality) zoom lens though, instead of the Nikkor 18-105, I'd go with the Sigma 18-250....Its optical quality is about the same as the Nikkor 18-105 kit lens, but you have more than twice the reach, and it only weighs a few grams more. The price is about the same, or a bit less 🙂

    My most-favourite lenses for Nikon D90 are: 1) Micro-Nikkor 60 mm, which gives image of fantastic quality, 2) Sigma 18-200mm F3. 5-6.3 DC MACRO OS HSM, which turns D90 into very practical allrounder (while giving very good picture, of course) - and 3) Tokina AF 11-16mm f/2,8 AT-X 116 PRO DX - very nice and capable (and not too expensive) ultrawide-angle.

    The 35mm 1.8 it's a DX lens for DX sensors, and DX sensors are APSC or cropped sensor, so this lens is made for DX sensors, it's 35mm, no crop factor. And you can try to put it on FX camera like D750 or D810, it will show a dark area on the edges, and that's what you get when you put DX lenses on FX DSLRs, anyway I hope you keep up making such a very good videos ❤️

    Just ordered a d90 with a 50mm your videos helped me alot to decide what to get for my first camera. I fought with myself in-between d90 d700 and d600 but decided to get the 90 to learn a bit and save some money. I couldn't really see too much of a difference between the picture quality that warrents such a big price difference. What do you think? Or what would you have done?

    • @grantrobertdavies
      @grantrobertdavies  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m more about size these days and the d90 is much smaller than the d700 and d600 - you’ll be more inclined to pick it up more, I have a d700 and never use it purely because it’s too big :)

      I’m unsure, I don’t know much about Sigma lenses :)

    • @Bike_Lion
      @Bike_Lion ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I actually had that same lens back in the day and used it with my D90. It's a pretty nice super-tele lens, which is *relatively* cheap as far as those sorts of lenses go. Took some good shots that were nice and sharp.
      With Sigma and other 3rd party lenses, you just have to make sure of course that it's the version of that lens for Nikon F-Mount. Sigma also makes a version of that same lens for Canon, one for Sony, etc., and those ones won't fit on Nikon cameras.
