Kohl is a very underrated singer in general. Nice to hear him shine for a song in the quartet.
Baritone mostly has the very unfortunate job of simply "completing the vocal spectrum".
You'd hear that something is missing but the role in itself is often not distinguishable from the rest.
Hanfgurkenhasser Oh, I know plenty of baritone's unfortunate role in barbershop as one myself. But, it's easy to find the notes I'm supposed to sing with perfect pitch (or as close as I can get).
Even so, I wish I had the tone to be able to sing lead if I wanted. Oh well.
As a high baritone let me tell ya, IC's baritone and lead notes are insanely high - I pity the bass, some of his parts rival baritone leagues.
But I've seen some baritones on here who sing a bloody high C.
I'm so done. :D
I have never seen a quartet put the lead on the back burner so often, despite the fact that Theo is the best singer of the four and it isn't close.
@@Hanfgurkenhasser That's why it's the most difficult part of the four even if it is the least appreciated. There is often no rhyme or reason to it.
Supposedly, my choir teacher brought two of these young men together several years ago in a large choir.
He loves telling us that story and absolutely loves showing their music to us! Sadly, he's moving somewhere else, so whoever gets Dr. Thorngate, please appreciate Choir Dad ♡
Not to be dramatic, but I’d die for Kohl Kitzmiller
who wouldn't?
Just... Kohl enjoying himself. I need more of it.
Me every time I sing along at 01:01: I've gotta be Kohl... relax
I'm a baritone and I'd give anything to hit those high notes with that clarity
To be fair, a barbershop baritone is more like a tenor who sometimes goes low when it's necessary.
in barbershop, Lead and Baritone are essentially the same Vocal range. If you are a Baritone, try singing Bass or Tenor.
same bro
Most tenors (duh), leads, and baris are actually tenors in terms of voice type (vocal fach for all of you educated types). It's just the part they sing is called whatever but they're usually tenors. I'm pretty sure David, the tenor of Instant Classic is actually a countertenor, though.
@@lifeontheledgerlines8394 Yep, the barbershop tenor is something between tenor and alto in terms of vocal range, so the countertenor technique is definitely something one can make a good use of :) And if I am not mistaken, that was bloody a'' at the end - a note which is a problem for many choir sopranos... :D
That tag was the nuttiest thing I've heard Kohl do good lord
It was a very unique tag -- but it fit right in. If that was not high and tight, nothing fits that description!
What is a tag?
@@CharlesGutierrez13 I'm late, but in case you still want to know: A tag is the ending of a song in barbershop music. They can also be sung on their own, some don't even belong to any song.
DANG!!! That was sweet!
Booo on the people that gave this a thumbs down.
It seems Kohl and Kyle need to start at quartet with Kohl on tenor and Kyle on lead.
I'd like to see Kohl on lead and Kyle on tenor, just because why not?
*Yeah you did*
Love is not a crazy thing after hearing Kohl sing like that....... 😁😄 I think he needs to start another quartet where he is the lead! Love this arrangement and the delivery! 💖
Abigail H but that would mean instant classic wont be singing as much now do we want that? Lol
Rob Abbott no of course not! 😆
David and Kyle had a comedy quartet a while ago. It's on Kyle's channel and it was called 'You say tomato, I say barbershop.'
Oh, and Kyle was on lead and David on bari. They also had a quartet with Kohl on bass (yes, you read that right) and Kyle on bari.
That Dave he's a honey
and hits the notes
Does anyone else Theo’s overtones?? It makes it sound like he’s up the octave on the last two note of the tag
Just WOW! ... Flipp'n WOW!
Who are the people that would thumbs down this video? What's not to like?
The 9 dislikes werent cool or relaxed
that was amazing
THE HAND!!!!!!!
That was crazy good!!!!
Oh yes!!!
Estos tipos están perros❤️
2:27-2:28 - W/ALL DUE RESPECT MISTER K I BELIEVE THAT INTERJECTION WAS WRITTEN INTO THAT SET AS “THAT’S WHAT SHE SAID” - BUT WHATEVES KYLE.....
Is it really? That would've been hilarious!
Little Philadelphia sneaking in, here.
Deeelightful.
Where is the music for it 😍😍😍
7000 of these views are mine
10,000 is mine
Who are the 11 people who thumbs downed this????
I don't know, but they definitely aren't as cool and relaxed as Instant Classic.
gg
Can Khol please marry me
So, to begin with, this is amazing. This live recording is INFINITELY better than the album recording, which is quite impressive already.
Secondly, does it bother anyone else that Theo starts snapping on beat 3 starting at 0:44, essentially cutting the song to halftime feel? I'm glad Khol fixed it, by snapping on 2 and 4 again at 0:50.
This was absolutely intentional. It serves as a little extra flash in performance, to change up the feel for a second, sit on the back side of the beat, then bring it right back into the upbeat style. Switches to halftime are very common in all music with a groove, whether it be rock, swing, funk, etc. It's a little harder to portray in a group like this where snapping has to fill in for what would generally be drum set.
This arrangement is LOADS better than the original by Queen.
it's a very high bar to reach, but they certainly went past it.
Uh.. am I the only one that's a little underwhelmed by the lead? Seems like he lacks both character and voice...
Yes, you are the only one
I think his singing might be less charismatic than Theo at times, but when it comes to his singing, his voice is smoother and has the small ornaments that give it emotion.
