Seems like Oumbi got bored and wanted to stir up some action. Glad no one got hurt. Those boys, Lope and Shufai, love their mama. They risked being badly hurt but went ahead fearlessly.
Thank you for all the great films, SV!

They never hurt their kids it's usually the other way around when the males get older and fight dad for dominance then there will be problems. Most likely they will find Lope his own troop a few years down the line but that is a ways off.

They proved that they will make great Silverbacks. They came to the defense of their mother, it didn’t matter it was their father. They saw their mother being “bullied” & came to her defense. Now for whatever reason, it seems like Oumbi was in a mood & took it out on his mate. They are so much like humans. We get in moods & take it out on those we care for

Oumbi is Oumbi. He's a bit on the serious side compared to some other silverbacks I've seen. But, every gorilla is an individual. We don't know what they've been "saying" to each other all day. Maybe Ozala had been at him for something and he felt the need to re-assert his dominance. It's not entirely abnormal for a silverback to do that. If he'd really wanted to hurt her, Lope and Shufai wouldn't have been able to stop it for anything. Ozala is also a particularly noisy female. She doesn't back down easily. Just like with humans, that can happen with apes.

I think Oumbi was bored, after all it must be lonely at the top.
If he looks at family members they look away.
If he approaches family members they moved away.
If he touches family members they pull away.
If he tries to play or wrestle with family members they scream like heck and other family members attack him.
Poor Oumbi on the inside he might still feel like Lope and Shufai sometimes, just wants some fun and mischief like when he was young.
Put yourselves in his place people how would it feel if everyone always gave you the cold shoulder?
And it won't change for him ever so to break the boredom it's his only option for attention I think,he's awesome I love him.😘🐵
Maybe he was testing the boys too, gauging how tuff they are coming along! 😉

He could have easily ripped all three of them apart. As I watch over and over again... I wonder if it was a teaching moment for the boys?? Teaching that role of protection of the family.

Those baby boys were brave and have the heart of a full grown silver back! It's just that their baby bodies haven't caught up with their Brave Heart!! They truly have earned their Eagle feather by showing their bravery to help their mom. If they were native Americans that's what would have happened for them, they would have been given an Eagle feather!🦅

Oh my goodness, well if you look at it, at least he wasnt beating on her or really trying to hurt her. He could have been wanting sex from her, and she wasnt having it, so he was giving chase but it scared Ozala. Shabani is the same way, I have also seen Haoko too, and Nene and Momoko really had a go at their mates. But as it is in the great ape world, there is a little commotion and then peace. Lope and Shufai are the best sons. You know I can never tell if Ouimba is mad or not, cause he just has that look all the time, he is amazing.

Yes that's exactly what I was thinking! He was chasing all of the females and I saw that typical lip curl that male animals do when they are thinking about females to try to see and sniff if any females might be in heat.

My grandma was one of fifteen kids. Her father was not normally violent, but one night he was playing poker with some friends and his wife came out and cut him off from his booze. He slapped her, and all his grown sons came flying out of their bedrooms. Leo got him first, one hit KO. Nobody messes with mom.

This is the part where i fell in love with Lope❤️😭Look How he protected his mother against his Giant But Dashing Father Oumbi❤️ PS - I wonder why you don't you make such videos more long like about 30mins😂

    • @SloggerVlogger
      @SloggerVlogger  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

There are lots of reasons for the videos not being as long as 30 minutes. I never have that much footage to make them that long and interesting at the same time. I like to keep the videos at two times a week for the Twycross Gorillas. If I would make them that long I would only ever be able to show you one video a month. I'm still quite a drive away from the zoo and can't go any more than I already do. Also, most of the people prefer a quick under 2 minute video, my average is under 1 minute and hardly anybody watches more than 3 minutes. They do sleep/rest a lot in between or are in the back where I can't film. It's also even more difficult to get footage at the moment, as they prefer the inside to the outside and with covid and social distancing I can't move as I would like to. I hope that makes a bit more sense 😊

Looks like Oumbi was feeling frisky. Auntie Asante is never ‘up for’ any, being hand reared by humans she doesn’t think she’s a gorilla (looks like he’s finally given up on her). Granny Bidi is usually keen but she doesn’t respond to his playful passes. Ozala can’t be ready for another baby and Shufai really wants to keep his baby status....knowing what poor Lope went through, Ozala abandoned and rejected Lope when Shufai was born. Oumbi is ultimately respectful despite his superior strength he backs off when Asante. I love this family💖🌈 Thank you Mr Slogger Vlogger for keeping me informed.
