How this song only reached #41 on country charts is crime. Amazing song, amazing vid, and Kix's best vocals ever. Out of the park. I bet if this was released 3 years earlier its top 10, but by turn of century country was trending more pop. Record company prolly didn't push it enough either. I guess bad timing, but how it still didn't get more push I'll never know. Being attached to a western film that came out at this time prolly would have helped too.

The lack of success from this song, carried over to their least successful album, Tight Rope, in Brooks & Dunn history. This is the only single released by Brooks & Dunn to not make the Top 40. This is a newly discovered song that I happen to come cross recently. Now I listen to it all the time. And I’m not even a country western fan, but the duo of Brooks & Dunn singing this song has changed that for sure! It must be the “born and raised in New Mexico” thing for me. Those big birds circling are not vultures/buzzards. They are Broad winged Hawks during migration.
