Really good guitar players. Just another fantastic British band in the 70's Invasion. Best time in the world for a teenage rock fan. The talented bands were endless. My fav was Blowin' Free!! Crank it up!!!
@@seltaeb9691And King Crimson. In 1969 both heavy rock and progressive rock were launched by Zeppelin and Crimson, and the rock music world was changed forever. So many great bands followed in their footsteps. It was a great era that lasted until big money and corporations finally took complete control of the rock music industry, sometime in the 1990s. All downhill from there.
I've been a fan of theirs since the early days. I last saw them at a blues club in Phoenix Arizona around 5 or 6 years ago. Always great guitar playing. Not much like this anymore these days. I've been a drummer since 1964. So many great memories.
I would have been 15 during this concert, where in the heck was I, how did such a cool band pass me by? I was into Prog Rock bands like ELP & Yes, oh well, better late than never, as they say. What fantastic musicians! Their song “Blowin’ Free” feels so magical & mystical like it was written about lil’ ole me; “Her hair was golden brown, She was far away, I found it hard to reach her, She told me “you can try” But it’s impossible to find her”; I’m an Enigma …✌️❤️
Hard to find that type of guitar playing anywhere today. Great Great band!!!! Really miss those days of my life. Just great music and fans. Everyone was so cool. Saw them live incredible show!!!!
There are two versions of the band these days. Andy Powell’s Wishbone Ash and Martin Turner’s Wishbone Ash. Martin’s version has the trademark good vocals and great bass guitar.
I have observed that musical genres tend to go through phases, 1.) raw and primitive stage, 2.) teenybopper stage, 3.) artful and insightful stage, 4.) legacy stage, 5.) blatantly commercial stage, 6.) decline. In 1976 Wishbone Ash were definitely in that artful and insightful stream of rock music.
I absolutely love Wishbone Ash! I have eight of their albums and I wish I had more! The King Will Come,The Warrior, Ballad of the Beacon! Blowing Free are some of my favorite songs! I just love the twang of their duel guitars!
First learned of Wishbone Ash when they opened for The Who in Edwardsville, Illinois - c.1972. With-in the week, I had the debut album. I've seen them 9 or 10 times since then. St. Louis, Memphis and Germany.😊
Superb. I loved both the original line up and that with Laurie Wisefield. I saw this tour and their sound system was the best I've ever heard. Laurie and the original Ted are both superb players.
1971, I was blowing free in England. Wishbone Ash on BBC Old Grey Whistle Test opened up with a drum roll, a thundering bass & a killer hook intro. The song was 'Vas Dis' then transitioned into 'Jailbait'. A spellbinding set from virtual unknowns that still wows today. At 17 I decided that night I was a guitar player. That was 52 years ago, now 69 I'm still playing perhaps not as blowing free as I was then but I really wouldn't have any other way. 'Time was' indeed, thank you Wishbone Ash !
It's hard to find this kind of guitar playing anywhere nowadays. these guitar riffs and very simple tricks, great band!!!! They have been playing for almost 40 years, I listened to them in the 80s and today, after more than 30 years, I miss them for their songs and those guitar riffs until you want to listen to them I miss their sound and for this album Live at rockplast maybe you can get it Simply great music.Thank you very much and greetings from beautiful Poland.Leks Bedney Bednarek.
Danke
Live dates is the ultimate WA. That album got played until even people I didn't know knew every word of every song. Now that is somethin'. Saw them twice and both were great shows. Blowing Free was always a get up and move your ass cut.
Plain and simple they are one of the greatest bands from the U. K.! This rendition of the KING WILL COME IS MY FAVORITE ROCK ON WISHBONE ASH!! ❤😂😊🎸😍✌️🙏🎸
Welcome to an amazing and talented group of musicians! My favorite album is "Wishbone Ash, Argus", you've got to listen to the entire album! I got turned on to these guys way back in '73 (8th grade), and have listened to this album over and over until the album had been way over-used. Now I just listen to their music online like this awesome live recoding! Thank you MIG Music for sharing
Excellent guitar players with primo guitar tones, in fact they;re all great musicians and I'm not that familiar with their material but they come across live very strongly!
What a great concert. The one band/ half band which I saw as early as 1973 at PinkPop in Geleen and recently in 2019 in Afrika and sometimes in between. All the time they were just tight and wonderful. And, while learning to play Snooker in Germany's Kneipen, there was ever so often Phoenix blaring from the speakers. Lovely stuff.
Thank you for posting this recently released rarity. I think that WA's kind of music went over most American's heads. Maybe a bit to intricate, plus no "macho" lead singer out front strutting around. Following them for 50 years now, since Argus. Plus I've been playing guitar since 71. Major influence for me. Bless em all.
@@mattweldon5159As an old guy who finally checked this band out, my favorite musician in the band is Laurie here. Just so silky smooth, wow. Gorgeous playing.
Saw the Original line up in New Orleans at a venue called the Warehouse, 72, Front Row, Ted Tuner and Andy Powell were playing Telecasters. Argus one of the great Rock Albums.
You missed a lot! I saw them first in 1978... Seen them three more times since then. Very excellent band. They even stayed after the show once to chat with fans and sign autographs!! I got to say hi to Andy and the other guys, what a great evening!
A lot of people missed out on such a great band. I’m 65 and ask people my same age who were into good bands and music if they have ever heard of WA and many never have. I still pull out my Live Dates CD and listen to it now and again.
Rich melodic speech, harmonies breathtaking orchestration constantly renewed in the use of the stamps of the instruments, in short a babylonian sound architecture erected by humbles and impetuous interpretes-composers🌺
I love these guys, I still have a BBC radio broadcast from 78 I think recorded at Hammersmith, on the No Smoke Without Fire tour and I saw them a year or two later at the same venue touring for Just Testing.
Saw that tour in mcr I was 17 and they were superb. A big deal then. Powell's tone!!!! Wisefield was superb in that line up. Look at the wear on that Strat neck. Collectors item now but a tool for the job. Hamer bass. First time we had seen their stuff in Europe. Rick Nielsen was still unheard of
Actually, it's Wisefield. But the Hamer bass ... I think you're right about that. However, I remember having found an interview with Martin in which he explains why he didn't use the Hamer much (basically because he couldn't get used to the way the controls were wired). So this must be one of rather few gigs in which this instrument can be seen.
I love their work, and wish there were more like them. Good band, I was too late to see them here in the US. seems like they do not tour here anymore. Rock on Wishbone Ash
Я тоже был там, год не помню, но точно- это было в "Юбилейном". До этого только слышал об этой группе, то-ли на "толпе", то-ли в "Клубе", после этого начал собирать их пласты...
Saw them in 75 at the Arena Seattle, WA. Camel was the opening act and was another great British band. Before Wishbone Ash got started the drummer gets up and came up front and says "I've got some catching up to do". He fires up a fat doobie and takes a couple of hits and says "Now I'm ready". I always loved kicking back with their double live album.

Really good guitar players. Just another fantastic British band in the 70's Invasion. Best time in the world for a teenage rock fan. The talented bands were endless. My fav was Blowin' Free!! Crank it up!!!

Agree, greetings from Germany!
Seen them early '70's four or five times. Every time was a listening pleasure.
One of the greatest, and tightest bands I've ever seen.👏👏👏👏👏
Just love how Wisefield plays The King Will Come, he knows it’s the coolest riff ever and he milks it beautifully❤

Get them all.
I agree. I've seen them multiple times, starting g in the mid seventies.
I love this! Been a Wishbone fan since 1971. But that "inventors of the dual guitar" sound, if I can mention the Allman Brothers for a moment....
Or triple guitar Fleetwood Mac!
Quicksilver Messengers? Grateful Dead?
How's about the Rolling Stones.
