What I find amazing in the 81 comments here is that nobody has mentioned the great Steve Upton.! Without question, one of the best drummers of his generation. Thanyou Mr Upton, along with Martin Turner they were the driving force of this wonderful band.
Do you remember he always used to get up from his stool behind the drum kit, come to the front and say hello to the audience at some point during their heyday.
@@beawsbiz Your dead right. I remember shaking his hand, Manchester 1972. He even had the courtesy to say thankyou. . Great memories from 51 years ago.
I saw them this year (1974). I wouldn't hesitate to say it was the best show I have ever seen of anyone. Climax Blues Band opened and they were also fantastic.
One of my all time favourite bands, 62 years old and I still love this eclectic rock band, their inspiration to me made me play electric guitar 🎸 bass also, Martin Turner 'omg 🎉twin guitars with a solid drummer 🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
Some of the best concert nights of my life were spent watching the band in the 70s, especially in the period just before this concert. All members were just so damn good, nobody ever mentions the excellent Steve Upton on drums. I read somewhere he now runs a guest house in France, I wonder if he ever thinks back to those days.
I wish I had seen these shows at that time 1974, I was 18 then. So in the last 15 years I have seen them often, but the original setup is unbeaten. Well, I am happy that videos exist from that time long ago.
Beautiful document 😊 First time I saw them in Düsseldorf's Philipshalle in the mid 70ies when AC/DC opened for them. Laurie Wisefield was in the band. The energy of the original lineup has never been surpassed.
First saw Wishbone ' live' in 71 Did alot of first album and Pilgrimage and a few new songs from an Lp no one had heard of yet ....Argus ...the rest is history .I also joined the fanclub in 71
Even though it says the date of the show is 5. 1. 74. That doesn't mean May first, this is the English way of showing dates, which in this case this "broadcast" was shown on TV, January fifth, 74. Or was this the concert date too ? Can't trace down exactly when this was filmed. Ted Turner (right hand side) played his last show on February 23, 74. He did rejoin in May, 89. I saw them, first time at the old Auditorium Theatre, in Chicago in Sept. 73, ("Flash", were the warm up band), then again, the day after Thanksgiving 73, Nov. 23. At a High School gymnasium in Wheeling, Illinois. They were so fantastic, blew everyone away.
The presenter in introduction says that this concert took place last December, 15th (so in 1973). But this date isn't mentioned on the different archived tour dates which are on the dedicated websites (for instance Martin's one or in the book written by Andy)
They deserve a lot more credit than they have been given - maybe because it's so hard to put them in a specific bag! I saw them at the Oval Cricket grounds at the Melody Maker Pole Winner's Concert in 1973. A legendary band!
