Yeah I love this I'm glad I was actually looking up black magic cameras because This came out perfectly And you graded it well and the storytelling behind it I liked it. I really felt like I was watching an entire movie or small trailer. Good work
This is some of the best footage I've seen on the Blackmagic pocket 4k. I saw you used the sigma 18-35 with a metabones a while back and I have to ask, Do you prefer that lens or the Lumix 12-35mm you used on this shoot?
Thank you so much Will! Means a lot bro!! Yeah I bounce back and forth between the two. I love the sigma 18-35 for shallow focus and low light situations, I know a lot of people knock it for being clinical but to me it has a lot of characteristics I love, it's sharp, its got a nice bokeh, and its fast. If I had to pick between the two I'd go sigma, but the fact the lumix is native to the pocket 4k and packs such a punch I find myself using it more often then not.
@@QuentinAnthonyAnderson Yeah! Hahaha, it's a great lens, it definitely has some downsides: chromatic aberration at 12mm, no manual aperture control, falls a bit flat. But in terms of bang for buck lens, it's well worth the money. I have it on my pk4 85% of the time. I think you will grow to love it the more you use it!

Thank you for your kind words my friend! Means a lot! I used the Panasonic Lumix 12-35 v1 for that opening shot. The lens is fantastic and nearly lives on my bmpcc 4k. At 12mm its come some chromatic aberration and is a bit soft (even stopped down) but seems to clean up once its zoomed in a bit.
Thank you so much Myron! Means a ton!! This was shot mostly on the panosonic lumix 12-35 f2.8, the shots of the actors talking in the cell was shot on an atlas anamorphic 65mm with a MFT to pl adapter.

This is really good. I'm thinking a Pro Mist 1/4 for sure? You're showing what you can get out of the Pocket 4K. I upgraded to the 6k Pro - did I need to? I think you'll excel with it. Well done.
Thank you very much!! Yeah great eye, pro mist 1/4, I normally don't use any filters other than ND's and Grad ND's but sometimes the pro mist feels right story wise and it definitely felt right here. When I think of Fair's I think of a bit more of a grungy, gritty environment but also a fun glowing environment. The pro mist helped get that soft glow in camera to where I didn't have to tinker with it in post. That's great about the 6k Pro! How are you liking it? I've shot on it a few times and really like the 35mm sensor compared to the Pocket 4k. I've always loved the S35 sensors best, even over large format.
Thank you! This is just trailer but it does have a concept attached. Shopping it around to a few writers and need to secure a few key locations to make it happen
Thank you so much! I think I had about 12-15 nodes. Normally I’m around 6-8 nodes. But I did a few power windows on this grade to fine tune things. Normally I do a Rec 709 color space transform, then base correct with just simple exposure and color in the wheels or curves. Then I built a creative look from how I remember the fair growing up. I definitely leaned into a swampy green look. And added a “glow” plug in. I’ll have to look at the node structure when I’m back in the office though
Thank you so much Ryan! The vast bulk of this was shot on the lumix panosonic 18-35mm 2.8 v1. I use that lens for 90% of what I shoot on the bmpcc4k. Then for the interior cell shots I used the 65mm atlas anamorphic. I had to have a special adapter for it though, I believe it was an slr magic PL to MFT. It also had crop.
Thank you so much! Means a lot! Sometimes when I grade I incorporate a lut in the process. But this one was just built from scratch. I did have a rec 709 Color Space Transform node in there though!
I often use Juan Meleras powergrades and LUTs to convert BlackMAGIC color to ARRI log c 3. So that way I can match the pocket 4k with the Alexa mini. Juan is a pretty brilliant guy when it comes to the science of color grading! I will also use LUTs I’ve built based on movies. I may do a short video on how I build those. They’re pretty simple in general.
I cant wait for the final movie to come out! :D As a fellow BMPCC4K shooter, im always very glad, when I found a professional cinematic, narrative work with this camera, that actually looks like a movie. The interrogation scene really captures the feeling and style of the recent Batman movie. It would be great to see how you work on these movies, I hope there will be some BTS videos about your work with this camera :D Btw what kind of lights did you use for this movie?
Thank you Larion! Very grateful for your kind words! Means a lot! As for your questions: I wish this were a feature but it was more of a "shoot a few scenes, make a trailer cut and see if it draws interest to do a full feature" So as it stands know I have a few scenes shot but not a project in its entirety. The concept is based off of what inspired the movie "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari" I'm so glad to hear about the batman connection! That and "High and Low" were my two inspirations in terms of look and style! I should've taken BTS videos but didn't I'm trying to be better about that this year! For lighting this I used all quasars, just the regular kind with 3 settings: 5600, 4500, 3200. I stuck around 4500 for most of it as I wanted a more florescent style look.
You should totally make a longer version. It doesn't have to be a feature but at least a 10-20 minute film. 1 minute is just a tease lol (but a great one at that ;)
@@storylitfilms Thank you so much for the reply! After watching a few movies on full frame cameras I was starting to wonder if I made the wrong decision with getting the 4k. Watching this amazing short rejuvenated my motivation to just forget all that and make my stories. Thank you! I hope you’re also filming the projects of your dreams!
Hey there! I used the SLR adapter. It has no focal reducer so it’s strictly just an adapter. It’s a very clunky set up so I don’t recommend it and yes there’s a big crop factor.

Did you us any filter ??
Yes! Black Pro Mist 1/8 on the fair shots to get those blooming highlights.
I'm hooked 🎉🎉

Thank you for watching my friend!
This is excellent! May I ask what lenses you chose for this project? I really like the fall off
Thank you so much Ryan!
@@storylitfilms Thank you for sharing. Best wishes in your filmmaking journey. I look forward to seeing more of your work.
Thank you Ryan! Same to you! I subbed so I can follow you!
bro fantastic grading....which LUT you use? so crispy!!
Thank you so much! Means a lot! Sometimes when I grade I incorporate a lut in the process. But this one was just built from scratch. I did have a rec 709 Color Space Transform node in there though!
@@storylitfilms which luts you use bro? so nice
@@storylitfilms yes my friend please a video how do you grade!!! :)
fantastic shots.
Thank you so very much! Means a ton!
1 minute is just a tease lol (but a great one at that ;)
Great work! Love it!
Thank you very much!
This reminds me of the secret window. I think it’s the hat and the shot angles.
Ah I saw that movie over 20 years ago haha, all I remember is John Turturro saying “you stole my story” hahaha
How much shutter and fps did you use ❓❓❓
Hey my friend! I used 24fps for most of it except for a few shots were 60fps. Shutter angle at 180 degrees
Hey which lenses are you using 😮
Hey my friend! I shot this mostly on the Lumix Panasonic 12-35 f2.8 with a few shots on the atlas Orion 65mm
Very nice what compression do you use?
Thank you very much! I shoot mostly 12:1 or 8:1 depending on the project. I think I shot 8:1 for the majority of this.
@@storylitfilms dude my pocket never looks this good. Kudos
Thank you! Truly means a lot! I’m sure your stuff looks great!
Perfect ❤
Thank you!
What lenses did you use in this film?
Hey there! The Lumix Panasonic 12-35mm f2.8 and an atlas Orion 65mm
Jeez 😮🔥 you are an Artist 👏🏾
Thank you for your kind words my friend. Truly means a lot!
What lens was this on? Any speed boosters?
Hey my friend! This was primarily shot on a Panasonic Lumix 12-35mm f2.8. No speed boosters used.
Oh , awesome! I assume a lot of the wides you went for 12mm to mimic 24 Full frame? Like the one on 0:21?
@@HeadBangerExtreme Yes! That's exactly right.
@@HeadBangerExtreme It's such a great camera! Can never go wrong with that camera!
Holy shit! This looks fucking amazing.
Thank you very much!
I really liked what you did here
Thank you! Really appreciate it!
bmpcc4k?
What was your setting and lens you used?
Yeah you got it! It was mostly shot 12:1 compression, Mostly stuck at a T and f2.8 for interiors, and f5.6 for exteriors. VND was used on exteriors.
Impressive work!!!
Thank you very much! Means a lot!
Dang this is awesome
Thank you so much Josh! Means a lot bro!
where can I watch this?!
What lens did you use?
I used the Lumix Panasonic 12-35mm for the bulk of it and then the Atlas Orion 65mm for the interrogation shots that are out of focus.
audio is sooooo clean, what mic setup are you using?
Thank you! This is recorded on just a rose ntg3 and a zoom h4n. The zoom is definitely dated but the rose ntg3 is one of my favorite sounding mics
What lenses did you use?
Looking amazing👌🙌
Thank you for your kind words!
Looks awesome!
Thank you so very much!!
0:54 soft and beautiful...Any difussion filter?
Thank you my friend! I used a BPM 1/8th on that shot.
@@storylitfilms Thanks. Beautiful!
where do u get these cinematic thriller sounds ??
I had a great composer on this! I know he’d love to help answer any questions you have. His Instagram is @andrewconnmusic
How does u use atlas anamorphic on bmpcc4k plz tell buddy thanks in advance any crop factor
Hey there! I used the SLR adapter. It has no focal reducer so it’s strictly just an adapter. It’s a very clunky set up so I don’t recommend it and yes there’s a big crop factor.
google traslator
What a good job, I am very pleased that you are bringing out this excellent product, that allows us to show the full potential of the bmpcc 4k, we usually see users with bmpcc 4k showing their camera rig and accessories, but little result in the cinematographic part, both technically and narratively , congratulations.
Thank you very much for your kind words and for watching the trailer! Very grateful! Thank you!
INCREDIBLE
Thank you for watching and for your kind comment!
Gorgeous!
Thank you tons Melanie! Means a lot!
After watching this I can say you guys need only good story and few talented Actor and you and your team is going to nail it.... It's look like expensive hollywood movie.....Bro i am also planing to purchase Bmpcc 4k....and upgrade my PC to edit on davinci resolve.... I am planing to purchase GTX 1660 super or RTX 2060 6GB GUP... Whats your advice about gup.... Is it capable to edit and render Bmpcc 4k footage easily...
Thank you for your kind comment DR! Means a lot!
On paper I believe that system will handle the PK4 no problem using DaVinci resolve. If you have the money to spend anything in the M1 and m2 mac family will be best. But pocket footage is pretty easy to play back on most systems!
MG¡ awesome work
Thank you means a ton!
holy sheeeesh this is amazing
Thank you so much bro! Means a ton!
did you do any noise reduction?
Hey there! I think I did a digital noise reduction. I usually do that with most of my footage.
@@storylitfilms looks great. do you mind sharing what noise reduction you use?
@@richiebakez Usually I do a 4.0 on the Chroma for spatial reduction. But with Davinci 19 release I think there's a better way. Their new reduction software looks even better and I'm excited to explore it more.
@@storylitfilms thank you so much. appreciate the information. Keep up the great work.
Really great stuff.
Thank you Ollie! Means a lot
