- Welcome to Steel City RC. After the first run with this truck I decided to up the gearing and punch. And add a little more braking force. In this video I show how I set this ESC up using the SET button. Really simple.

If people are anything like me. They find it easier to watch a video on how to do something than read it. I wasn't gonna spend $35 to 40 on a program card that I will use once. So I read the book on how to do it manually. Thanks for watching Jeff

Definitely big help thank you! I bought this thing used so I didn't get the instruction manual I had no idea that these settings were even in there. I thought it was fast on level 3 punch I'm about to find out right now on level 5. Also I couldn't figure out why some other people could break harder and mine were really slow this pretty much showed me it all! Got the settings all dialed in and now if I can only figure out how to do what I actually came to TH-cam to figure out how to do and that is how to bind the stupid controller. My buddy messed with my car earlier and now it doesn't work anymore.

Yes I know the top speed is in the motor timing setting. I build race cars so it's somewhat similar. And also I like my punch! 😄
Since I have you here you don't know anything why the stupid spectrum ESC blinks of red light really fast every time I turn it on? Every red light flashing video that I've watched has not been able to help.
@@ValleyMustang good question. I would have to look in the book that came with it. I know you can download the manual online.
Man I looked there's so many of them that I don't know which one is for this one. Also just so you know I am literally like brand new to this hobby. Like I said normally I build race cars and race but I can't believe I haven't gotten into this earlier. This is my first one I bought it off of some drug addict I thought I was going to sell it to make some cash but once I started playing with it I got hooked 😄

thanks man! losi SBR 2.0 here and for some reason they decided "Medium" low voltage settings were safe, first run both my batteries had a cell go under 3v. Set it to "High" !
Smart move. I would rather lose a few minutes run time than ruin my expensive lipos an possibly the rig. I am happy with a 3.6 to 3.7 end point per cell. Good info and thanks for stopping by brother 👍

Yeah there are a few ways to make setting adjustments. I made this quick video to specifically show that the SET button could be used fairly easily too. Happy RCing 👊🤘

That's cool you did this how to cause that manual can be confusing an what yr is your fox body I have a 93 cobra but with a big turbo lsx .otor in it an yes I do have the numbers matching motor
Ya I had to reread that manual five times and still had it in front of me doing the video ahahahah. The Mustang is a plain jane 1987 stock 5.0 5 sp hatch. Love it cos I am not afraid to drive it.. I will go out to eat and leave it etc. No worries. But man. I gotta ask. Why ruin a Cobra to just put a Chevy in it? Something like mine would be less hurtful ahahaha.

If I was to put punch setting to 5 with all stock parts would it be ok or should I upgrade first I have the kraton 8s 1/5 scale
It will be fine maxed out on punch. That is how I used mine along with the included 23T pinion. It really made a difference on an Outcast 8S.
I have a firma speed control I'm setting. Mine is for the brushed motor but they program the same from my understanding. I'm programming it for an airboat. It seems slower than the old conductor style. Any way let's just say forward is running at 100% reverse is only at 30 I have a feeling it's confusing the brake feature with reverse so in reverse its not giving me much power only 30% or so instead of 100% reverse so I'm pretty sure I need to program it differently

Yes. The Kraton 8S and Outcast 8S use the same electronics.

Those red and black wires that run from the ESC fan and plug into that connector into the ESC itself, then it is two more red and black wires that run from that connector into another connector, mine is broken right there from a crash, how am I able to fix that or can I just get a wire harness and connect everything that way?
Hello. If there is enough meat per say to the wire. You can strip back the insulation and solder the wires up with shrinktubing around each wire. If no room maybe contact Horizon Hobby through email or phone for a remedy. Sorry that happened. And if I saw exactly what you mean I could give a better idea what to do. Hi, can the stock servo S905 handle 8.4V bec?
Good question. Just doing a Google search it states specs for 7.2v. So I am guesing 7.4v would be their max. But if you think about it. A 2S lipo is 8.4v fully charged. Also have to see if the receiver is capable also. Wish I was more help. Thanks for stopping by!!
@@SteelCityRC yess exaxtly saw that too but considering there are just 2 options on the esc 6.0 and 8.4V i would guess it wouldnt kill the servo. Thanks for your reply👍🏼

Do you know how to turn reverse off?
Hello. I wasn't sure till I looked in the manual. Reverse is not able to turn off and on. Can just turn down the reverse strength. 25% looks to be the lowest. No off choice. Hope that helps!!

That is a good question that I do not have the answer to. I would think you would need the programmer designed for this esc. Maybe in the manual it will have directions to reset? That is where I read how to change settings using the set button. Sorry I am no help... Thanks for stopping by 👊 🤘

Hello. It almost sounds like the receiver is bad. I would talk to Horizon about it over the phone. They can do an over the phone diagnosis with you to find out. Hope you get it figured out soon! Thanks for stopping by 👊 🤘
my esc have a blinking red light and no throttle
I was just reading in my Outcast 8S manual. It says "LED flashes red with short single pulses --LVC protection activated ". So in real talk. Your batteries have been depleted down to the low voltage cut off. Re balance charge your lipos and try again?

Sorry man! I am no help there. I put a Futaba radio system in mine. I would search Spektrum DX3 binding if you have that radio in the YT search bar. Good luck👊🤘

Do you have the owners manual for this truck? It almost sounds like you need to recalibrate the ESC to the radio. How it would have lost that during parameter adjustments is beyond me.
@@SteelCityRC yes I do I also have the Esc and brushless motor maunel.The truck name is Granite mega550 and both esc and brushless motor are made by spectrum.

@@rctiprccarvids3080 this video was made for the 8S line of Arrma rigs with Spektrum electronics stock. It may be different procedures for your rig. Sorry I'm not more help

Done that on mine still no bloody brakes got myself the ESC progammer but even somone who has 10yrs IT is having trouble getting 2 their software contaced the tech staff even told me what 2 do followed 2 the letter still nothing it i just think they r way 2 heavy & should b fitted with mech brakes in all of them getting a little fedup now enenyone got ideas comment here or manjez.jt@gmail.com thanks
