Imperial Knowledge It's still unclear whether there are humans in Akavir right now. There is lore debate about the meaning behind 'Consumed the men of Akavir' and such. ESO should add in Akavir bit by bit. You could rehearse until the dialog runs smoother, just a suggestion.
The constant weather issues are too huge and common to be sheer circumstance; I'd say it's a very safe bet the Tsaesci wield strong weather magics. You mentioned Clear Skies, but Storm Call is an even more direct example of such things already clearly being possible for those who master the right magic.
but those are shouts and i dont think shouts count as magic because it can only be used by dragons and dragonborn so it might be just very shity akavir wether.
Shouts can be used by people. Kyne was said to have taught men how to use shouts and they used them in the past. Ulfric stormcloak displayed the ability to use shouts too. It just comes naturally to dragons and the Dragonborn
They probably know shouts, as shouts are not exclusive to dragons or the Dragonborn. The latter 2 can just naturally learn it as common as someone can walk or breathe. Normally, it takes a decade of training just to master a “common” shout like Unrelenting Push.
Activision & EA, Twin Pairs of Destruction shouts come naturally to dragons and the Dragonborn, but I believe only the races of men can learn how to use them through training. I don’t think that Elves or beast races are able to do so since it was said that Kyne only gave it to man.
@Roshambo, the Dragonborn can be anyone sentient otherwise, they would not have let you have any race as a Dragonborn. So any sentient being, men or beast, can learn Shouts. Man were just the first to be introducted to them.
hmm, how to counter cavalry...oh, i know how about that great invention that was never seen again since morrowind. You know thos pointing sticks called SPEARS...
The Snakes' only known motivation is to "become" like Dragons, what they mean by that is eat and assimilate dragon blood So they likely know how to shout and can do so with extreme ease since they are likely all dragonborn by now from eating thousands of Dragons
Actualy at least the bulk of tghe tsaesci army were human or atleast humanoid. It is still not clear if the tsaesci are snake people in the first place, but it's just so goddamn cool i gotta believe that.
Sean Conley The tsaesci are humans. These rumors of all people being eaten are just that. Rumors. speculation. The Akavir that invaded the empire were all men. one example is Sanct Tor or whatever. the ghosts there are Akavir invaders, and human.
Look at me Im de captain now; I know, just following the snake theory and saying that it might not be right is all. I have an idea that the Tsaesci have an ability like the Cold Harbor Vampires in Skyrim. (like Harkon and the Dragonborn) where they can turn from a humanoid form to a bestial one (vampire monster thing). What if the Tsaesci can do that? Could explain the humanoid akaviri and them riding horses.
Sean Conley yeah that's a good theory. Another assumption could be they are just a race of men who are cannibals and their armor resembles snakes. they probably don't even eat people or are vampires at all. it's all rumors and speculation. hopefully one day we will know the truth.
This story reminds me of the catastrophic Peloponnesian War of real life. Just replace the Empire with Athens, Septimia and Ionith with Syracuse, and the rest of Akavir with Sparta.
I'd enjoy the next elder scrolls game based around the second great war between the empire and the thalmor. Or based in Akavir, that's the one I'd want! Brilliant!!
Added it to my list. I do not know when I will make a video about it because yokuda is one of the subjects I do not know much about. It will require a lot of time since I do not take the WIKI for truth and first want to verify and look up all the information myself before I make a video. But when I have time for it, I will make the yokuda video ^_^
Also the lore on the Wiki from what I've seen is from the in game lore. It gives locations on where to find the information. Usually the Wiki is trustworthy but I could see why you don't find it trustworthy
I find it trustworthy, My method if I do not know anything about a subject is: - Check wiki, Do not read the text - Check references - Look up references in game The wiki is trustworthy, but sometimes it gives unverified information or misinterpreted information by it's writers. It does not happen all the time, but it does happen. For everyday research the wiki is okay, but if I really want to answer a question right or make a good video I think the best method is to check all references myself and then make my own script instead of plainly copying the wiki.
The true disaster of this conquest was his strategy. But oldy enough this solo event has made me fall In love with the elder scrolls lore and Skyrim role playing. I always liked skyrim as a game but you unlocked it on a hole new level! Great vid!
Why wasn't History Class in school that interesting? In Germany it was all about nazis, WWI and WWII (surprise surprise) and goooosh that was so boring. And now I'm here, watching all those videos about Tamriel and its history and even though it's fictional, I just love it.
Because most history teachers suck, especially in grade school and highschool. If you manage to find a good one, they can make real world history just as interesting as this.
Real world history is just as interesting. Just do some research on the battle for Stalingrad and the battle for Berlin of the Second World War, the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria and the intense trench warfare of the First World War. You'll find that the stories and events surrounding those battles are much more interesting than the dry take history teachers usually have on it.
I believe tsaesci is actually pronounced "sai-chi" with a little bit of a 't' sound at the beginning. however I could be wrong. that's just how I have always pronounced it. :)
Anybody whos a bit knowledgable about magnetism and the cosmos knows that earth has a magnetic field and when a solar storm hits it, it hits the magnetic field at one part and causes a discharge at the place where there are weak magnetic presence. This is seen in the north as the aurora. However after messing around on the dragonborn dlc i looked up and realized that mundus is nothing like earth and the aurora cant be a magnetic thing in tamriel. I havent been able to find much on this however so this probably would be a hard thing to make a video on. Maybe backlog the idea until you have a lot of small mysteries to look at
FloorPannel the Aurora in the games is caused by magic radiating down to Nirn. When the Magna-Gi and Magnus realized that theyd lose power in the creation of Mundus they left tearing holes in the plane of Oblivion. The holes are the stars and the sun is the giant hole created by Magnus leaving. All magic comes from there. Sometimes the magic is radiating down especially hard at night and is seen in the atmosphere as an Aurora. This is also why the clear skies shout causes one because you're basically sending a bunch of concentrated magic into the atmosphere which causes a reaction that makes the event happen
Thank you for the video. You, and your audience, would appreciate the Total War: Medieval 2 'Elder Scrolls Mod' made by a Russian Team. In it you get to choose any of the Tamrielic factions and play an elaborate strategy game on the political map and fight on vast battlefields.
first off i'm not a grammar nazi or a neatfreak when it comes to speech or writing. but lately, the casual format of youtube videos has been getting to me... 2 minutes in, words i've only read before are pronounced better than in any other videos (various other games and creators), even when comparing common nouns to proper nouns, and you're the only one that apologizes. despite lacking even one discernible error. great job, and thank you for the videos.
despite me writing this 6 years after this video was released this literally seems like what happened in vinland and so the elder scrolls colonial era is yet to happen
This video made me realize how ignorant I am regarding TES role: I thought akavirs were only an extinct race that used samurai-like amors and lived during the alessia empire. Well.. turns out it's a continent and with snake people.
Tsaeseci is based off japamese society. This is repeated in lore, and you can find shonen-esque armor of the tsaesci (samurai looking). In japan, T infront of an s is entirely silent (ex. Tsunade is pronoumced (Soo-ná-day) in Naruto). As the Tsaesci are based off ancient japan, this naming scheme is likely consistent. Thus, the T in tsaesci is silent, and you get (Say-Ski)
This is really well done. Do you think you could do a series on how magic works in the elder scrolls? Like what the hell does alteration do? Also vampirism is pronounced vam-per-isem
Akavir has a harsh winter. ES Five makes very clear that the weather is always the same every day of the year with the exception of precipitation. The big MMO ESO never shows any change of season that I have noticed. So why does Akavir have seasons?
At the beginning of the Video we can see many Islands of Nirn, but is all? Could it be that there is more than we just saw on the world map and we just have to explore of the planet?
What I find incredibly odd is that when the tsaesci invading Tamriel and then fell to Reman’s voice proclaiming him Dragonborn, why didn’t it happen here? All along the septim bloodline are Dragonborn and surely during the negotiations or in battle Uriel would’ve spoken correct? So why on earth didn’t the tsaesci bow down to him? Or is it that with reman they did it to save their skin.
That’s a really good point but I think the best explanation is that we honestly know little to nothing about the tsaesci. There history, overall culture, politics, etc. It’s entirely possible Reman’s Tsaesci army didn’t represent the greater Tsaesci race and that perhaps they were a “radical” group or something that left Akavir in search of the Dragonborn. Another explanation could simply be Uriel was invading their homeland and they were already pissed off
I gotta figure the Tsaesci manipulated the weather patterns, personally. The timing was too perfect for both the storms that destroyed a portion of the eastern fleet, and the dry winds that ruined the colony's harvest in the spring/ summer. Fleet gets turned back right before the attacks began, then right when crops become necessary and rations run low the heat ruins said crops. Leaving just enough time for a retreat, but not to return before winter in theory. Both cases weaken imperial forces too drastically to appear as simple bad fortunes or peculiar climatic patterns, for me. Also, didn't the Sloads do something similar before sinking their island? Either way if they could change the land that dramatically, doesn't seem a huge stretch to think magic could affect weather. Then as already mentioned there were the clear skies and storm call shouts.... and Alduin's meteor storm shout that I was always jealous of. Also could explain in part why the Tsaesci retreated and didn't send larger forces to attack the colony. No need when magic can neutralize enemy forces without losing as many of your own troops. Seems the biggest mistake for the empire was bringing the civilians instead of more troops, weather aside. Does raise the question however: If akaviri mages could affect weather in their homeland, why not do so during their invasion of Tamriel?
Also had made the comment about 11 minutes into the video so there's a couple of details left out. Still seems the emperor and his army was being toyed with or just outplayed strategically, logistically as well if the weather patterns were deliberate.
Shouts are a form of magic any sentient race can learn but only dragons and the Dragonborn can learn it as naturally as one breathes. Other than that, it takes a decade minimum to learn just one “common” shout. Some Shouts take a decade to learn one word of it.
Why didn’t the empire take the island off the coast first? It would’ve been a hell of a lot easier for them to hold, and would’ve given them a rally point to fall back on.
Should have landed on the island next to the mainland to utilize as a base of operations for the invasion. Even when they lost all settlements on the mainland they could at least have a rally point for troops and citizens to fallback to. Not only this but the enemy would have to use ships to assault the island unless the Tsaesei can breath underwater however like many things no official accounts have been made on what they are capable of.
Fun fact it was called Iownif (I-own-this) in case the emperor forgot who owned it in the war This is not true Sun Tzu?- art of war?- Alpharius probably
Currently not in a situation to listen, but I think it is "Rise of an Emperor" by scott buckley. It is the most requested song on my channel and it is truly a phenomenal work, so even if that is not the song you mean it is still worth the listen haha
Does anyone feel like the whole of cyrodill and akavir as continents feel weird and not realstic like where is top and bottom pole I mean it's possible to have contenients like these but it looks like cyrodill is missing a peninusla or something
Finally Someone who asks ahaha. I wanted to do a video on them but since there was no demand for it I decided against it. I will make the video somewhere in the upcoming weeks ^_^
The Emperor shouldve used Redguards, Altmer, and Argonians to fight instead of Legions. I dont know why they only use the Imperial Legions for millitarial purpose rather than the actual good armies.
Thijs Tharn hey Thijs! You were that person who thinks the imperials are better than the stormcloaks! Also the Legions didn't really conquer all of Tamriel, Just High Rock and the outer parts of Black Marsh. Most of it was through negotiations.
That was a pretty silly place to Invade considering he had the option of invading a decent sized island ruled by the Tsaesci or a Peninulsula in the north that would’ve been easily defendable with their massive navy. Poor tactics all around.

Even after I've read the book about it in Skyrim, wich is pretty much the same context as in this video, its still a nice overview of this invasion.

I love the first song that plays on the map screen, but I don't know what it's called and it's driving me crazy!
Currently not in a situation to listen, but I think it is "Rise of an Emperor" by scott buckley.
It is the most requested song on my channel and it is truly a phenomenal work, so even if that is not the song you mean it is still worth the listen haha
Awesome, I appreciate it. Great work on the videos by the way. Came across one and now I'm in a bitof an Elder Scrolls renaissance.
Does anyone feel like the whole of cyrodill and akavir as continents feel weird and not realstic like where is top and bottom pole I mean it's possible to have contenients like these but it looks like cyrodill is missing a peninusla or something
also thank you for the lore explanations
We need more videos about the Hist :D!
Added the hist to my to do list ^_^
"Say-Yes-EE"
Could you do a vid on the Tribunal? subbed
Finally Someone who asks ahaha. I wanted to do a video on them but since there was no demand for it I decided against it.
I will make the video somewhere in the upcoming weeks ^_^
+Imperial Knowledge after that you should do the Atmoran invasions of Tamriel.
Do a speculation video about the 2nd great war and how it will play out
Could you do one of the vampires ,like a very detailed one.
Could you maybe do a video of Tiber Septim's conquest of Tamriel?
Nice idea, if I can find enough on it that will be my next visual map video
Great video! Where's the music from?
Does the Empire still control the three islands between Tamriel and Akavir?
Does anyone know how I can get my hands on animation maps like this?
+clint Gibson Make them yourself. I do that, lot of work, worth it
I know I can make them but what application do you use to make the animations?
one question tho...in Skyrim, The Blades Swords, they are Akavir blades. why?
nice vid.. keep'em coming :)
I am enjoying your videos quite a bit, but how do you know all this info
+Patrick Lloyd Lorebooks, dialogue, etc
Kinda reminds me of crassus in parthia
Call it a conspiracy theory but I believe they had something to do with the sudden strange storm in the ocean
Love strategy map
2:39 (cath-no-kay). Or (key), not 100% certain.
Tsaesci I believe is pronounced "SAY-es-ee" or "SAI-es-kee" but I could very well be wrong. That's just how it feels linguisticly correct for me.
Think you could do some videos about yakuda and atmora?
Sorry not atmora, I meant aldermis
good news, I already have the script for a yokuda video ready. I habe tons of scripts ready but this week I just did not have the time to edit them
I think Tsaeci is pronunced Say-sea
Waddup, can u make a lore about giants?
Did imperials flee those three islands they conquered (Black Harbor) ???
Can somebody tell me what version of TES main theme plays in 6:04?
Es-row-nyet, Yin-s-lay-a, and Cath-no-kay.....
That is my best attempt at those three islands... lol Hope that helped..
Last one sounds like me and my girlfriend argueing.
Cat..?
No
Kay
Imperial Knowledge --- Lmao I understand that one..lol
That was a pretty silly place to Invade considering he had the option of invading a decent sized island ruled by the Tsaesci or a Peninulsula in the north that would’ve been easily defendable with their massive navy. Poor tactics all around.
Ben Bellamy This is a fanmade map.
Nice video keep it up
