I've always admired Tom Colicchio's work ethic and talent but now that I learn he's from Elizabeth, NJ, where I spent many hours in their libraries - now I think even more highly of him. Thanks for an inspiring story.
🤦🏻♂I helped open Tom Colicchio's restaurant called CRAFT here in Los Angeles/Century City many years ago and he didn’t give me 2 seconds of his time when I met him. Sorry buddy, but first impressions are lasting impression. Restaurants are notorious for having toxic work environments if you could be anything to your employees when you first met them...be kind, shake each of their hands look them in the eyes and, thank them for their contributions they're not just another number in the H.R. files.
LOL it must be you. I opened Small Batch in Garden city Ny with him. Nicest guy ever. Had many many great conversations with him about gardening, tv shows, you name it. He was wonderful.
Met him one time at a charity event with Food and Wine Magazine....he was not the nicest person in the world......he was supposed to do meet and greets with the fans for the charity and he was mad he had to do it....the charity was embarrassed and several people took back their donations of sizeable amounts...maybe he was having a bad day and others said...Same old TC...that's him

Maybe he was still doing drug then? I hope you’ll find it in your heart to forgive and just wish him the best.

I had a similar experience. Not the nicest person...
Here in California,we are not used to rude new Yorkers ,the hunger of the big city makes them like that ,and they think is normal behavior !

LOL oh BS.. i worked with him for a long time and he's wonderful, friendly, smart and goes above and beyond. Sounds like the problem is with you.
Really, what did he say to you. ?
He finds himself where he is my mere chance. I have followed him for years and have witnessed nothing to suggest he has real culinary talent.
Had the honor to share craft some years ago. Left an impression on me that has upped my cooking game. Don't care about his personality
