Me too, Elle's dad, Linda, Molly Ringwald, Chloe and Rachel were probably the only people that didn't really annoy me during this franchise, and are the only characters with any braincells at all.
“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9) Gods will is that you come to him in repentance and give yourselves to him and be saved. Thank God for his loving mercy and patience 💝✝️
Rachel breaks up with Lee: Yes, girl, you definitely deserve someone who is less clingy. They get back together after five minutes of screentime: So much for character development! 🙄
@@alexsheffield528 Lee already has a lot of manipulation in his life, which are all commited by himself so it's best if he gets a taste of his own medicine.
Too bad it's totally forgotten about when Elle "apologizes" to her stepmom later on. The stepmother has the patience of the most holiest of saints. Elle's younger brother was even more mature in that scene and he looks disgusted and honestly, cannot blame him. And Elle STILL gets a happy ending despite it all😤😡🤬
Her dad was awesome, he stood up for his new wife and he told Elle exactly what she needed to hear. But it's irrelevant later on, and most of the fans (yes there are some) see her dad as the nasty old dad who doesn't understand what it's like to be a teenager.
And what made this the best (albeit still very bad) of the worst, so just when you thought this would be one of the many worst films of 2020… it got (barely) better.
Honestly, this series sounded like it had two writers who hated each other. There are moments that seem surprisingly well written, where characters are accurately called out for their shitty behavior, but then it’s undone by some bullshit. It’s as if one writer is trying to make a fleshed-out teen drama, and the other is trying to write a generic teen romance.
The “getting mad at your parents because they got remarried” trope only works when you’re a child, what 18 year old gets that outwardly pissy about their new stepparent??
And the stepmother acts nice to her. Yeah she'd still be a bit uncomfortable and weird, but she should respect her still. Yet she says she's "annoying" and that she is just bad for other reasons?
There's definitely a period of awkwardness, though. In my case, it's been 20 years and my relationship with my stepfather is still very "round peg, square hole".
I think it really depends on how your family was split in the first place. In her case, she may have just trouble to think that her dad can "replace" her mom. It's still not totally understadable to me but I'm not the one to judge. I'm 21 and can't accept my own step mom
It's official. Elle's dad is the best character. Because he actually tells Elle she's full of shit. Message to everyone: YOUR PARENTS ARE ALLOWED TO REMARRY AFTER THEIR SPOUSE DIES OR LEAVES OR WHATEVER AND YOU ARE SELFISH FOR THINKING THEY AREN'T! Editing because people obviously don't get it: I'm talking about parents who actually find a new love of their life and isn't forcing it on you. I'm not talking about abusive relationships or trying to replace their former spouse. I'm saying parents are allowed to be happy again after a tragic event and it's selfish of kids to not make an attempt or refuse to be happy for their parent.
I still feel that's the better cliche than "come on Dad, mom's been dead for half a year, get over it and start dating again!" that some other movies have done. Just kinda weird to hear the kids try to pimp out their dad, while also showing that they got over the death of their mother far easier, which is also messed up.

@@GBDupree Right away I thought of American Pie: Reunion xD I guess the different clichés appear in different genres, this one is more teen drama than comedy, most American Pie movies are mostly just comedy
Can’t say he’s the best character when we’ve never seen the build up to it at all. The mothers death had zero impact on anything so it wasn’t earned at all
As an aspiring screenwriter who’s spent hours into the dead of night trying to construct a well paced plot, decent characterization, and sharp dialogue, seeing shit like this makes me wonder why I even bother. Clearly crap sells.
Tell that to aspiring animators that can’t get jobs because their stuff doesn’t rip off Disney enough (or they simply don’t have any…inside connections…).
Protip, slap some Jezus on it and you can make 3 mil out of 3 grand from any first draft screenplay. The target audience for this kind of vapid crap doesn't want deep meaningful story development, they want stupid melodrama and their biases confirmed.
Just because you're good at playing video game and enjoy playing them doesn't mean video game design is the career for you. It frustrates me that whenever someone likes video games, "make games yourself" is always the next step. No. Its not. It can be, but its not always. There are plenty of people who design games that aren't super into playing them and plenty of people who play games that would have absolutely no fun designing them. And how good or bad you are at games has no correlation to that.
It's good to enjoy games and understand what makes a game fun in the design department, but ye, enjoy games =/= can design games. Hell, I'm sure if you ask me to design a Silent Hill-flavoured puzzle game I'll probably bumble around like a refrigerated bee, while asking me to create animations for a hack-and-slash would probably be an alright, if not kinda boring and frustrating (because I can't rig for shit), experience.
I think the correlation should be becoming a game tester instead but most old boomers who make those movies: 1. Don't know it's a job 2. Believe it's useless/skilless etc
My biggest question throughout the movie was why did Elle feel like she had to include Marco in her bucket list activities? Knowing what happened between them and Noah being understandably unhappy that his girlfriend is still hanging around the person she cheated on him with at the dance competition. It's so annoying that half of the problems Elle faces in these movies are problems she started in the first place.
Throughout the whole movie I was wondering how she could be so comfortable around Marco and even wanna be friends while he’s so obviously still flirting with her, like what the hell 💀
@@tiepzz326 Oh, that's simple. Because she's a self-absorbed toxic dumpsterfire of a human who has zero regard for others. She doesn't care how much she hurts Noah by having the guy she cheated with on him around and being so lovey-dovey with him, she doesn't care that she strings along Marco even though she doesn't want him. Heck, she may have strung him along in case Noah breaks up so she has some other man-meat to ride because that seems all she seems to care about. In general, no clue why "comedy" and especially "rom-com" movies always need to have the biggest wastes of human life as protagonists. If you're gonna have such people, make a joke out of it like in Anchorman, at least.
I feel like people don't understand that it is realistic to willfully cause all your own problems for no reason. Most people are stupid, addicted to drama, averse to substance, and weak.
You know, when an aggressive, violent and overly jealous guy is the least unlikeable of the main 3 characters, it's a sign that you did something really, really, REALLY wrong. These movies deserve to burn in cinema hell.
You know who else is “aggressive, violent and overly jealous”, like Noah (or even more so)? Mason Greyback (Wizards of Waverly Place). Alex really deserved better than this
Man I can't wait for a good 15 years from now when we get "Kissing Booth: New Rules" starring the middle aged cast and a bunch of kids that just so happen to create the same dynamic from the first film
@@bentarbbronze6048 I'm going to be honest with you, that is way too nuanced for this content, my bet is the old characters would be there to sell nostalgia, and occasionally say things like "remember when we were their age?" And then proceed to let their kids be toxic anyways.
I could undestand Elle's ourtbust if her mom had recently died and her dad remarried right away and didn't give her time to grieve her lost or if the stepmom was cruel or rude to Elle, but is implied that her mother died when she was reallly young and the stepmom seemed nice, she is 17 and her father is allowed to remarry.
During the scene where Elle is saying goodbye to her schoolmates at a party, I was appalled when Elle jokingly slapped the bum of the guy who sexually assaulted her. Sexual assault should NEVER be played lightly, and I was upset that it tried to make a joke out of an uncomfortable moment from the first film.
Hollywood is frustrating these days because it tries to pander to the easily offended over “normal” people, and yet they do things like this that would not even be acceptable in ecchi (heavy fan service) anime! Pick a side and stick with it!
@@JeffreyThrash it's Hollywood, they pander to any majority as long as they have green paper, honestly when was the last time Hollywood released something even considered nomination worthy over their many years of fuck all
The fact he ended up as the most likable out of the three despite being a borderline psycho in the first one says oodles about what a piece of shit the other two were and stayed.
@@youtube-kit9450 his character completely did a 180 in the 2nd one and he became *so* much better. Then I saw how many die-hard 14 year old fans were glamorising Elle cheating on him and I had to just stop there lmao
@@truthseeker9249 I think there's a few nuanced situations where cheating isn't *that* bad, or bad at all tbh, but obviously Joey's character was just brazenly in the wrong lol
@@hiddenleafdrip3869 yeah I agree. But if a relationship really is that bad then you should get out of it. The only reason it would be bad enough to cheat is if it's abusive in any way sexually physically or emotionally. But again if it's like that you should get out anyway. Don't waste your time cheating because what if your abusive partner finds out. No that is no excuse but think about it. Don't give your abusive partner a chance to hurt you again. Just run. And yes I speak from experience.
I gotta be honest, I was really surprised at the fact that Noah didn't attack Marco after Marco punched him, like he usually would do. It actually made me go "Wait, did he just get character development?" Like even though it may have been by complete accident on the writer's part, it actually made me feel something for a character from The Kissing Booth. It seems that Noah is the one that got the most character development and actually grew as a person. That's a bigger twist than Shyamalan could've ever cooked up!
Idk, he was pretty childish about the whole Marco thing since the beginning. I understand where his insecurities come from but that stuff's on him really. I wish they hadn't made Marco go back for Elle, I liked him being over her :/
I like that Noah both learned to control his violent outbursts AND was the one who broke up with Elle. It’s surprising that he seemed to get the most character development.
@@lastquarter3992 Elle Kissed Marco on TV infront of him. And knows he has feelings for her and still forced him in everything. I totally get Noah Plus Elle had the nerve to be jealous of Chloe
I actually liked that Noah broke up with Elle so she could grow into her own independent person. I thought it was good character development for them both. Them getting back together after growing up and maturing as people isn’t a bad idea either. Too bad this movie is terrible overall.
That clip with her dad actually made me really sad. This whole time, her poor dad has been suffering in silence and then his asshole daughter won't even allow him one ounce of happiness. How horrible.
The Kissing Booth Story of toxic relationships and friendships. With the most unbearable characters in romance that it makes Twilight characters look good. Except anyone who isn't the main trio is amazing and man do I feel bad for all of them with how they are treated by the main trio.
El's father is the best character in the trilogy for basically being the only person to actually have brain cells Edit: it's been 3 days and I already got 2.5k, thank you!!
Likewise, along with his girlfriend Linda, Chloe, and MAYBE Rachel. I cheered when he gave Elle a well deserved verbal beatdown over how he's given up his life for six years to put Elle and her brother first, so it's about time that he put his happiness first.
And let me guess. Like all parents in these shitty romances despite being good parents who don't want their kids to be with pricks they're portrayed as evil, heartless overprotective monsters standing in "love's" way.
@@Xehanort10 Not like that. But Elle's father is marrying someone else, therefore her father and his new wife are both horrible people for falling in love because it means Elle's dad is a selfish person.
i think elle having her hair short after the timeskip was just joey king finally getting to take off her wig since the trilogy was filming around the same time she was filming The Act
‘i am not okay with this’ was so good, ended on the worst cliffhanger, and then netflix refused to reshoot and recut the last episode so it could have ended the way it deserved. makes me so upset, i really hope they’re planning to do more some day :(
How was it supposed to end vs how it ended in the finale? The finake had the head explosion, her running away, and another powered-being approaching her to imply that she's not alone.

Fun fact: tuition at Harvard is actually far less than you cited in your google search, since their financial aid structure is based on a flat percentage of your family's household income - so while their listed price was $71,650 for that year, the majority of students paid far less. Still not something you can afford with a summer of waitress work, of course, and given the lifestyles of the people in these movies, their parents are probably millionaires to begin with.
Rich kids will have to pay full tuition unless they're over 25 or their parents make donations which would probably exceed that amount. I live in California, even to afford the worst areas here you have to make more than the national average, where they live it is definitely millionaires including a lot of actual celebrities.
Also how did she get in????!!!!!!!!! She's definately not pursuing sciences or buisness, no studying, no internships. So she's pursuing arts. And mind you Harvard and Berkerly are two of the four most prestigious colleges in the world for arts. HOW DID SHE GET IN!!?? BY DANCING IN ARCADES?! The same for her bf and bff. Those are hard colleges to get into.
Yeah. I hope Kissing Booth stays dead. Whatever you do, CJ, Don't bury it in the Pet Sematary. Bury it in deepest cemetary possible, maybe even hell, and hope that all the rotten souls never escape without getting pissed on by their critics.
The way he called out Elle when she told him that it was a double standard for him to be upset that she’d be around Marco and he was like “mmmya kissed him” and the fact that he was the one to break up with Elle in the end, I’m actually impressed that he somehow became the least unlikeable and had a form of a character arc
If there is a Kissing booth 4, I can already predict the WHOLE plot. Elle&Noah and Lee&Rachel would have kids same with Marco and Chloe even though they never talked to each other. The gay couple would probably also adopt twins which are just the gay and lesbian stereotypes. Then, the plot would be the exact same as the first movie but worse plus a bad lesbian romance and being set in late middle school or freshman year to acknowledge that their the children of the previous. Reply if I’m wrong
17:06 You know what would have been infinitely more entertaining? If Noah tried slowing Marco down, but instead caused a huge accident which would end up with Marco dead, which would then result in Elle now hating Noah and Noah having to deal with the reprecussions of committing manslaughter.
So, as bad as these films are, I will give them one little bit of credit. Lee never confesses he is in love with Elle. This easily could have been "the best friend been in love with the other best friend since they were little kids and jealous that they picked their sibling" movie. But they didn't do that, so some credit there movie.
@@rashianand7534 That's my point though. It would make perfect sense to do it, but the fact they don't shows restraint on the writers part. Or the fact that if they did, Lee would have been the obvious pick and the writers clearly wanted her to end up with his brother.
@@entropy5590 Exactly. Not only that Rachel has very little personality, but her whole relationship with Lee takes a back seat to everything else. Honestly, it would've been better if Lee already had a girlfriend, so we'd skip some drama in initiating that relationship. But yeah, making Lee either in love with Elle or gay would've been only two options for writers ten years ago, so we can appreciate some progress in that regard.
I can't wait for The Kissing Booth: The Final Chapter... Also, who the hell follows promises they made when they where kids? When I talk to my childhood friend, he doesn't even remember shit that he did when he was 12.
My friend of over 20 years doesn't remember that we didn't go to elementary school together. She was so certain we did, but I actually went to the poor kids school and she went to the nice one.
20:51 I know some people don't marry again after their wife or husband dies and some do but Elle going to her dad "My mother's dead so you should never move on and grieve her death for the rest of your life or else you didn't love her and are selfish" is pathetic.
Seeing The Dark Crystal Age Of Resistance, which was something both me and my dad had childhood memories from, being cancelled for this parasitic film trilogy, makes me feel like I'm drowning in acid.
@@gracekim1998 it was cancelled for being "too expensive" i.e made a profit but just not a big enough one; Kissing Booth movies are cheap to make so they'll keep making them.
The movie was one of my favourite fantasy movies ever, and the 10 episodes do it justice almost 40 years later. Maybe another TV show or even movie will fill in the missing link- a medium sized film studio or else. I hope in some way or another it will get a sequel with the same high quality
Netflix cancelled or failed to renew a lot of other genuinely great reboots and original shows, as a bit near the beginning of this video aptly demonstrated. You’re hardly alone. One of these days I’ve got to tell my parents to stop wasting money on a Netflix subscription none of us have enjoyed since 2019 so that we can free up money for a streaming service that is actually trying.
What’s the point of being a large movie studio if you aren’t even willing to have a bigger budget than a teenager using Blender on their Mom’s ancient laptop?
Okay haven't seen a second of this movie but why do all the actors in their mid-20s (who play 17 year olds mind you) look like they're constantly acting like LITERAL TODDLERS. The fucking hyperactivity, the excitement about things my 7 year old niece wouldn't think are fun, the 'omg so quirky!' montages?!
I saw a study once that showed kids tended to watch and idolize things with preteens. Preteens watched teens, and teens watched adult targeted stuff. Maybe they are sadly aiming for a very young viewership?
My Mom teaches at USC and I never heard that before. I have no doubt that SoCal kids in general are absolute brats compared to the rest of the country, though, myself included. Maybe I should ask about the students she deals with some time…
Okay, so, we had the Dad telling Elle off. That was cathartic. .... So why then, couldn't we also have Rachel telling Lee off about what a tool he's been, then someone else who was actually an okay minor character tell Noah off, then another okay person from somewhere in the background of these movies tell off that preening asshole Marco? That might pretty much complete the circuit of getting in the faces of every shitty main character in this series.
16:53 I don't think i can blame Noah for not wanting to partake in a cart race dressed up as a Mario character (which, as was mentioned, is not even an original idea).
But they weren't trying to be original, they were having fun doing something they came up with as children. Are you really going to not do something just because it's not original?
@@leahdavis9434 that was a respond to CJ calling Noah a tool for not wanting to participate in this, even though he himself said that he found the idea unoriginal.
The scene with Elle’s dad… I don’t believe in hitting children, but if I had a brat like Elle for a daughter, I might make an exception. That man must have the patience of a saint.
I feel bad for siding with Noah but honestly out of everyone in this god forsaken trilogy, Noah actually seems to have matured a bit? Like idk, he's no longer as violent (still bitchy but would prolly do the same if I ended up with an irl Elle), he's actually sort of patient(?) and he tries to make up with Elle (even if it doesn't end that... well *ba dum tss*). So with all due respect on how horrible this trilogy is, it's kinda nice to see them accidentally write out a small character arc for Noah lmao.
The premise is pretty dumb, the actress is 6,2, so there would be more than enough romantic partners to be “tall enough” for her and she wouldn’t be that much of an outlier that it would be life changing.
@@6.5ftkristapsporzingis71 i've seen someome comment that this movie would be way better as an exaggerated comedy, like in that scene where she's at the library and some guy goes to talk to her, she gets up and the guy goes away cause she's tall, but if instead of that her height was so exaggerated that when she got up her head hit the ceiling it would be way funnier Don't remember who commented it, but damn i gotta agree
The thing that bothers me most about this is that they could have chosen some of the good Wattpad books, like Until Proven Innocent, the Piano Man or even Homewrecker. Those are delightful books. But they chose…this.
Maybe those choices were too high-brow and serious for the audience they were going for. Even Toy Story would have been too high-brow and serious for the audience they were going for.
@Lucinda Null if they really wanted a bad boy story (i know that isn't the movie premise but it's the vibe I'm getting) The Good Girl's Bad Boys is right there!
i would have wanted them to go with 'the undoing of ryder burke'. its a beautiful book that revolves around a girl who has a very prominent sexual history, and how she was r*ped by two close friends. it was one of the only books that ever made me cry. the mc had been part of the popular people cliche before the incident, so it would be such a change from the 'im not like other girls' boring mc.
Good call... There are a lot of good books written by novice writers in Wattpad that are far better than the ones chosen to be produced or published... I don't get why toxic relationships, Fifty Shades, 1D reverse characters get to shine than other books???
Seeing the reviews of the kissing Booth trilogy reminds of the time my parents made me sit through it- Like... They were browsing Netflix and the living room was the only place i had a lil piece and then they watched the whole trilogy on one afternoon, while i was sitting there doing stuff on my phone... And like my mother said after they finished the movies: "that was such a beautiful story. I wish we would know that they really come back together"... While me sitting there thinking like: "are u kidding me?" Ig she saw it on my face so she asked me "What? Didn't u liked it?" And i looked her in the eyes and answered what everyone here knows: "that shit was manipulative, abusive and toxic af. Why would i like it?" And the only thing she had to say was "Well. I liked it. It was a good movie" Well.... At least she didn't talked about it anymore afterwards and tbh... I think she already forgot about this shit lol
WHAT CHRIS PRATT IS THE BEST CHOICE FOR MARIO. I mean yeah there is the original Mario voice actor that could do the job better BUT IT'S CHRIS PRATT MAN
Lee feels like this one girl I met once that got super attached to me to the point I couldn't even hang out with other people that she would think I was "putting her to the side". It was an awful friendship and thankfully it only lasted a bit over an year!
I went through the same thing all throughout hs. I met her our freshman year, and honestly, that year with her was good. I actually considered her a friend. We weren’t super close but I thought she was a good person. When we were sophomores though, I became friends with a guy that she liked and then she began to threaten me to stay away. The guy wasn’t even a good guy. I dropped him as a friend about half way through the school year because he was a bully. I was even trying to tell her “He’s not worth it. He’s not a good guy” but she thought that was me trying to trick her so I could have him 🙄 She made up rumors about me hooking up with a bunch of different guys, but the guys she was mentioning didn’t know who I was and I didn’t know them so those rumors went away quickly, but it still pissed me off. Throughout junior and senior year, I didn’t want to talk to her anymore and I made that very clear to her, but she would always try to act as if nothing happened and she would call me a bully for telling her that I wasn’t her friend. She would try to lock arms with me in the hallway, she would come up behind me and hug me, it got really irritating. It got to the point where whenever I made plans with other friends, I would ask them not to post about it and not to tell her about it because she’d throw a huge fit and call me a bully for not including her. We went to the same college and she would try to do the same things again but since the campus was huge, it was easy to avoid her. Once the pandemic hit, it became super easy to avoid her and I haven’t seen or talked to her since
I’m honestly grateful to the kissing booth. The feeling of sheer euphoria I felt after finishing the third movie and knowing there wouldn’t be another one is just unlike anything I had ever felt before
I'm having trouble getting through this review. The only comfort here is hearing you tear it apart. I cannot imagine how terrible this was for you. Thank you for your courage.
@@kaitlyn1689 better to die off soon with a proper finale than become Netflix's anthro answer to The Simpsons and\or Family Guy. Even the best writers fail if left for long enough or, as with Rick and Morty, grow too complacent in thier crappiness. BoJack can at least be called finished and wrapped up in a bow and sequels can be considered fanfiction if they're terrible. In my head, anything under Disney for Star Wars is a Wattpad self-insert and the continuity ends at Return of the Jedi chronologically and Revenge of the Sith by release date. The decisions around Legends were legit so shit that writers of the newer shows and comics are reincorporating stuff from the seperate continuity. When your own staff ignore mandates in favour of what fans actually want...I feel like that says all ya need to know quite honestly.
In many ways the ending was abrupt and open like the normal season endings. It left me feeling Bojack would reoffend and we'd have a jail arc next season.
I got confused because its spelled Dredd. So I thought you were saying Metroid Dread didn't get a sequel. But yeah Dredd was surely low budget enough for a studio to afford a sequel.
What still pisses me off is that in the 2nd movie, Elle gets angry at Noah because she believes that he’s cheating on her (and she doesn’t even talk to him about it like a normal person), and while this is happening, she’s freely ogling the Spanish exchange student, having romantic walks on the beach with him, and flirting with him. Then she kisses him RIGHT in front of Noah after he travelled all the way from college just to see her dance tournament, and we’re expected to like her?? What’s more: Noah ends up forgiving her a few minutes later! Why?? She’s an annoying, hypocritical liar. What makes her so worth the mental anguish of cheating?
I hate the Kissing Booth trilogy because they normalize, make light of, and joke about sexual assault and toxic relationships for both their platonic and romantic sides. I want to be a therapist one day, and when I see movies like these and know how impressionable pre-teens and teens are. It terrifies me that some might believe that this is how friendships and relationships are supposed to be. They'll end up in a cycle of toxicity in their lives they might never escape from. Not to mention how they joke about sexual assault in the movies. It's disgusting and should never be played for laughs. I really do question what Marco and Noah see in Elle because one, she's an awful person, has double standards for everything in her life, and not to mention she is completely selfish. When it came for her dad to find happiness again like it's understandable that she would be skeptical of his new girlfriend and not accept her right away, but to pretty much telling him to not be with her just because she disapproves is crossing a line.
People who would rightfully be offended by movies treating toxic relationships lightly always seem to give romantic comedies a pass. To be fair, a lot of women in my life watch this stuff specifically to laugh at how unrealistic and dated the genre tends to be, similar to how I watch old Disney movies knowing that things don’t wrap up so neatly and happily irl. Notice how I said “women” and not “girls,” though-your concern is still valid for kids whose parents just let them watch TV all day.
Not surprised she acted the way she did towards her Dad's girlfriend, considering how selfish Elle is. Kudos to her dad telling her off, as I mean I'd understand a little kid having that reaction, but Elle should be acting her age (as she's a young woman on her way to college) and not her shoe size. Also props to Noah for not punching Marco, even though I kinda think Marco deserved to be punched. Also wished somebody would have told Lee off on how selfish he is though I guess that is why he and Elle are "best friends" cause their both selfish and entitled brats who need to grow up and/or a dose of reality instead of their everything works out in the end cause its a Teen Rom-com BS.
Man that opening hit hard. This was absolutely hilarious. You could really feel his anger and sadness. Its over CJ. You can relax now. You outdone yourself by going through the series. Well done! I do look forward to the other tv shows and films you will review in the future.
Being reminded that the Dark Crystal series got cancelled reminds me of how much the making of documentary for that series is the most pure example of executives speaking absolute bullshit (in terms of "creative enthusiasm") I've ever seen in my life.
The Kissing Booth (enough said!) The Kissing Booth 2: The Second One (kiss happens!) The Kissing Booth 3: Oh Hell No! The Kissing Booth 4: The 4th Awakens The Kissing Booth 5: Global Heartwarming The Last Kissing Booth: It's About Time
Now I'd be interested in seeing a Red, White, and Royal Blue review, if only for Cynical to get a British fix and see Taylor Zakhar Perez in a good rom-com.
Woooh! I can't wait. I have been so excited since the live stream. On another note if you want to suffer another bad Netflix movie have a look at He's All That. The gender swapped version of the classic 1999 She's All That.
It is genuinely sad that people, especially insecure men (and even women), have entire Twitter flame wars over movies that replace men with women, but I wasn’t even aware that movies that replace women with men existed until this comment. People just need to chill out about movies they don’t want to watch in general. If you don’t like it, don’t watch it, unless you’re a critic like CJ here.
Thank goodness that you went through this. I'm happy to see your dedication to these cynical reviews. My wife wanted to watch the second one, but I had to remind her of the brain melting that happened from watching the first one. So half I didn't have to take the bullet on watching the entire trilogy. I commend you on your relationship saving skills! I couldn't have made it through all three! You, sir, are a legend!!!
Let’s get a ‘YES KING’ here for Elle’s dad shutting her up. That was the best part. Edit: second best part was 22:22 Edit 2: I just had like 10 different break downs realising Netflix is making a sequel to goop over 30 seconds… oh god they are making a sequel to the goop labs.
The „get in the car!“ scene reminded me instantly of the almost exact same scene from the recent series “Maid”. Which obviously was all about domestic/emotional abuse. Well done Netflix - installing decent values in teenagers since day one.😒
T^T WHY IS ELLE ALWAYS DEALING WITH THESE MEN WITH THE MENTAL MATURITY OF A FIVE YEAR OLD? WHY IS THE MOVIE ACTING LIKE IT'S OKAY?!? WHY IS ELLE ALSO ALWAYS ACTING FIVE?!?!?!??!
I know I’m little bit late to the party but having watched your channel grow from 6k to this is truly amazing. You deserve every sub. Plus I love your sense of humour
For real! So many of my friends think that she’s a bad actress because of these movies (and Slenderman) but she really just keeps getting bad roles. She was absolutely amazing in The Act and I tell my friends to watch that instead so they can actually see Joey give a performance

'YES KING!' her dad telling how disappointed in her he is, that was my favorite part of this review.
I literally clapped.
That part made me smile.
Me too, Elle's dad, Linda, Molly Ringwald, Chloe and Rachel were probably the only people that didn't really annoy me during this franchise, and are the only characters with any braincells at all.
“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9)
Gods will is that you come to him in repentance and give yourselves to him and be saved. Thank God for his loving mercy and patience 💝✝️
best part of the movie
Rachel breaks up with Lee: Yes, girl, you definitely deserve someone who is less clingy.
They get back together after five minutes of screentime: So much for character development! 🙄
Honestly
Maybe she plans to divorce him and keep his money which i am entirely suportive off (oh come on , is Lee)
Lili L I usually hate women like that, but right now he needs a bit of manipulation in his life
They developed back together.
@@alexsheffield528 Lee already has a lot of manipulation in his life, which are all commited by himself so it's best if he gets a taste of his own medicine.

Her dad telling her off and saying how disappointed he is in her is the best thing that happened in all three movies.
The dad telling her how disappointed he is in her felt like a victory in a war
And what made this the best (albeit still very bad) of the worst, so just when you thought this would be one of the many worst films of 2020… it got (barely) better.
Lee is so unbelievably fragile and feeble it’s no wonder he needs someone with him at college because he won’t survive, he’s like a bottom feeder
So he’s like a modern college student then… he’d be fine
@@Jim87_36 aaaaaaaah shit son!
Even bottom feeders have the excuse that they are kind of animals

Hey, don't insult bottom feeders like that, they're an important part of the ecosystem.
Like Ryan Johnson and JJ, however, both of them were incompetent lol.

yoo biggest crossover of all time!
I Am Not Okay With This was SO good :(
I wish I’m not okay with this still gotten more content since it literally ended on cliffhanger :(
The “getting mad at your parents because they got remarried” trope only works when you’re a child, what 18 year old gets that outwardly pissy about their new stepparent??
She must’ve miss her mom so much that she want her dad to be lonely forever.
Also, is undestandable if her dad married right away after the mom died, but the mom died when she was young and she is 17 now.
Props to Elle's dad for calling her out about being an asshole. He's a grown man, if he wants to remarry, that's up to him
I feel like Elle is the embodiment of women who think being pretty is a personality trait.
She's not even that pretty, she's just plain, boring and ordinary
Yep, Elle has no real personality outside of Lee and Noah, and I can't believe that anyone would fight over her.
@@trinaq She's just the latest in a string of bland romance protagonists following after Bella "I'm clearly a robot imitating a teenage girl" Swan.
@@Luke_existent THAT.......is true.
Pffft "pretty" lol
More like "I'm not like other girls" as their personality trait
Right? Who doesn’t want their parent’s to be in love and be happy? I would
I still feel that's the better cliche than "come on Dad, mom's been dead for half a year, get over it and start dating again!" that some other movies have done.
@@GBDupree You just gave me flashbacks to the horrible finale of How I Met Your Mother. That was definitely one of the worst examples of that cliche!
Tell that to aspiring animators that can’t get jobs because their stuff doesn’t rip off Disney enough (or they simply don’t have any…inside connections…).
well good things tend to get a cult following and are - ya know - *actually* good (arcane, gravity falls, atla, etc.).
@@JeffreyThrash same can be said for game programmers as well
Protip, slap some Jezus on it and you can make 3 mil out of 3 grand from any first draft screenplay.
The target audience for this kind of vapid crap doesn't want deep meaningful story development, they want stupid melodrama and their biases confirmed.
Because people will appreciate the effort you've put into making a good story.
@@crowdemon_archives “bumble around like a refrigerated bee” is the best thing i’ve read all week!
@@shareetz3154 same lmao
Can confirm. My brain refuses to remember how the fuck programming works, but all the other aspects of game design are still hard af.
I think the correlation should be becoming a game tester instead but most old boomers who make those movies:
1. Don't know it's a job
2. Believe it's useless/skilless etc
Calling Elle a sack of mayonnaise is an insult to mayonnaise.
I love this comment 😂
Ikr atleast mayo is delicious (to those who like it)
Mayo is good with eggs
My biggest question throughout the movie was why did Elle feel like she had to include Marco in her bucket list activities? Knowing what happened between them and Noah being understandably unhappy that his girlfriend is still hanging around the person she cheated on him with at the dance competition. It's so annoying that half of the problems Elle faces in these movies are problems she started in the first place.
Because Elle's a toxic dumpsterfire of a human being.
Just imagine hoe great her life would be if she grew up a bit.
Really made me question myself
You know who else is “aggressive, violent and overly jealous”, like Noah (or even more so)?
Mason Greyback (Wizards of Waverly Place).
Alex really deserved better than this
Man I can't wait for a good 15 years from now when we get "Kissing Booth: New Rules" starring the middle aged cast and a bunch of kids that just so happen to create the same dynamic from the first film
Don't you put that evil on us!
The only way that could work at all would be if these characters see their kids becoming like they did and go, 'Oh shit, we should deal with this'.
@@bentarbbronze6048 I'm going to be honest with you, that is way too nuanced for this content, my bet is the old characters would be there to sell nostalgia, and occasionally say things like "remember when we were their age?" And then proceed to let their kids be toxic anyways.
CJ would be in his 40s getting PTSD from the original trilogy reviews when he gets to that film😭
OH GOD NO
PLEASE NO 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
I could undestand Elle's ourtbust if her mom had recently died and her dad remarried right away and didn't give her time to grieve her lost or if the stepmom was cruel or rude to Elle, but is implied that her mother died when she was reallly young and the stepmom seemed nice, she is 17 and her father is allowed to remarry.
The whole "she's not mom, and she never will be" lines should officially retired from scripts, that was lazy writing years ago.
Dear god🤦♀️
Imagine if the opposite happened? Oh wait, IT DID!!!

Yeah when Marco punch him I say “Welp your dead.”
When the generic chad gets the most development out of the main cast
@@lastquarter3992 Elle Kissed Marco on TV infront of him. And knows he has feelings for her and still forced him in everything. I totally get Noah
Plus Elle had the nerve to be jealous of Chloe
I actually liked that Noah broke up with Elle so she could grow into her own independent person. I thought it was good character development for them both. Them getting back together after growing up and maturing as people isn’t a bad idea either.
Too bad this movie is terrible overall.
That clip with her dad actually made me really sad. This whole time, her poor dad has been suffering in silence and then his asshole daughter won't even allow him one ounce of happiness. How horrible.
The Kissing Booth
Story of toxic relationships and friendships. With the most unbearable characters in romance that it makes Twilight characters look good. Except anyone who isn't the main trio is amazing and man do I feel bad for all of them with how they are treated by the main trio.

It’s just a less self aware IASIP
El's father is the best character in the trilogy for basically being the only person to actually have brain cells
Edit: it's been 3 days and I already got 2.5k, thank you!!

How is it that Noah is one of the most mature characters now?
All three were unlikable terrible pieces of shit in the first movie, Noah was the only one who had even remotely anything resembling a character arc.
I was kinda impressed when he didn't attack Marco, but at the same time he was the one who instigated Marco in the first place so..
The way he called out Elle when she told him that it was a double standard for him to be upset that she’d be around Marco and he was like “mmmya kissed him” and the fact that he was the one to break up with Elle in the end, I’m actually impressed that he somehow became the least unlikeable and had a form of a character arc
If there is a Kissing booth 4,
I can already predict the WHOLE plot.

But they didn't do that, so some credit there movie.

That’s the only reason they brought Rachel into the story. Otherwise fans would’ve been convinced of his “love” for Elle.
But it would've made sense then or else lee's behavior makes no fucking sense to me like why man why please why act five
Seeing The Dark Crystal Age Of Resistance, which was something both me and my dad had childhood memories from, being cancelled for this parasitic film trilogy, makes me feel like I'm drowning in acid.
Are you sure it was cancelled because of these movies though?😅 although yes I was upset the show was cancelled too
@@gracekim1998 it was cancelled for being "too expensive" i.e made a profit but just not a big enough one; Kissing Booth movies are cheap to make so they'll keep making them.
This series should've been called the list, given how that has more influence than the damn booth.
Oh boy😂😂
“Through the power of Mary suedom” that’s a wonderful saying
i love how one of the search results/recommendations in netflix was "Girls Kissing" in the clip with the irish guy lol
Have you seen how pampered they all are based on the locales? I’d be impressed if they DIDN’T act like toddlers with an upbringing like that.
I saw a study once that showed kids tended to watch and idolize things with preteens. Preteens watched teens, and teens watched adult targeted stuff. Maybe they are sadly aiming for a very young viewership?

Oh God they’re making a Tall Girl sequel? I have no words
So more of "Wah I'm tall and it's so awful." She'll probably be dating the creepy incel with the milk crate as well.
The premise is pretty dumb, the actress is 6,2, so there would be more than enough romantic partners to be “tall enough” for her and she wouldn’t be that much of an outlier that it would be life changing.
@@6.5ftkristapsporzingis71 i've seen someome comment that this movie would be way better as an exaggerated comedy, like in that scene where she's at the library and some guy goes to talk to her, she gets up and the guy goes away cause she's tall, but if instead of that her height was so exaggerated that when she got up her head hit the ceiling it would be way funnier

They should’ve done Life in Colour series. That series is so good and so much better than Wattpad to movies. I highly recommend reading this series
Honestly, the part where Noah calls Marco out is the greatest he's been in the series. Absolutely done with his niceguy shit
Seeing the reviews of the kissing Booth trilogy reminds of the time my parents made me sit through it-
Like... I liked it. It was a good movie"
Well.... At least she didn't talked about it anymore afterwards and tbh... I think she already forgot about this shit lol

Lee feels like this one girl I met once that got super attached to me to the point I couldn't even hang out with other people that she would think I was "putting her to the side".
It was an awful friendship and thankfully it only lasted a bit over an year!
Dude , I'm going through the same shit , but for like , 4- 5 years now , somehow it always feels guilty leaving them despite how toxic everything is ?
Once the pandemic hit, it became super easy to avoid her and I haven’t seen or talked to her since
Thank God. She sounded exhausting

A minor correction - Bojack wasn't cancelled, it got its ending. It is a complete masterpiece with no need for sequels.
True, but the writers WERE told to wrap it up by Netflix in one season when they originally wanted to make more
@@kaitlyn1689 It kinda shows in the length of the final season, but I didn't mind too much.

“L is an elite gamer.”
Right, and being exposed to high voltage electricity heals/cures cancer.
And you can create a living breathing zombie by passing electricity through a pile of bones and guts!
The 90s (and maybe early '00?) were full of stuff like that, and... Yeah...
