Although I haven't tried this yet, I have to say this is the most well explained tutorial I've ever seen. You did an excellent job explaining why you were doing what you were doing, and how you were doing it. You did an excellent job making sure we could see what you were referring to, and that it was in focus. I'm only nervous because I don't have a hose to replace if mine is rock solid, but now I know to look for that. I've never written a TH-cam comment before, I just had to tell you great job, and thank you because I'm so confident to now go and replace the PCV.

Thank you for showing the removal, I could not get it and didn’t want to break something, no one shows fighting with a hose so I assumed I had the wrong placement. When I saw you tugging I knew it was right and I just had to pry it out by all means. Finally pulled out with a snap on plastic fastener remover. 10 out of 10 recommended.

My 2013 Outback 2.5 was burning a quart every 1400 miles. I read that swapping in a new PCV valve might help. So I did it. Amazingly, it has helped hugely -- it's up to 3000 miles per quart now. I believe OE spec is 5000 miles but still, that's pretty good given that the car has a fair amount of mileage.
WHAT A HUGE PAIN to reach the pcv valve ... but only takes 2 minutes to swap in a new one once you do.

This is the exact tutorial I’ve been looking for in past 3 days.
I’m gonna change the hose and PCV valve on my 2011 Forester by tomorrow and hope this would resolve the oil consumption problem.
It’s 1Q per 550 km and by the symptoms I’m experiencing, Hopefully it’s only the PCV valve not the piston O rings.

Thanks, very helpful! Just replaced the PCV valve on my 2009 Impreza. Very similar process, but i was able to avoid disconnecting the bigger air duct. Also, I realized after starting to unhook things that I didn't have a 19mm socket long enough to accommodate the tip of the valve, then discovered it was actually possible to reach in there from the side with the box end of a combination wrench. Only enough room for a 1/12 turn at a time, but it was enough. Cheers

    Yep , I replaced PCV on a 2001 maxima which was leaking/ Burning like 2qts every 3k.
After PVC valve replacement it’s down to maybe 3/4 qrt every 3k. And it happens to run smoother and shifts better now.
Just so happens I have also a 2007 odyssey high oil consumption, no leaks . I suspect it’s the PVC.
So for $7 part going to change it

Ok guy I watched the vido til the end. I have a question:
Whem the PCV valve is closed?
Whem ther's no vacun in maninfold ? right!
But, if the engine is runing idle, there is a vacun in the manifold and it is over the AICV.
Only by this place the air can intake.
May be the spring regulater into the PCV valve that mantain closed it ?
I would like you talk about a little mor PCV valve closed.
On the video I'v read PCV, PCB acronym.
    ?
    Thanks.

If u have a 2010 with a 2.5l engine (why on earth a 2.5l engine from a diff car but same brand n same engine basically would be built so differently is beyond me) but anyway, if u have 2010 outback 2.5l this is nit the location n its a plastic pcv valve n when u order one, it'll be black n red. It will not be threaded into the block, it will be between hoses off the manifold. Very easy to change actually and makes you wonder why we outback owners got a better engine deal lol.
Also, i did the plugs, n despite anything you read, on the drivers side, you need to remove absolutely nothing. No battery, no nothing. Not one thing. Both plugs are completely accessible by taking ur time and good placement of ur hands. The driver side you need to remove the big fat air box hose which is 2 clamps n thats out of ur way n loosen the airbox. U do not need to remove the airbox.
If anyone lives in north east pa n wants it done for free (because its literally that easy) reply to this pick up the plugs n stop over.
One thing to note, these were some of the worst plugs to remove. They were def sested in there. Another good thing about changing ur own plugs is u can get an excellent idea of how ur vehicle is running and more importantly with a Subaru if the valve cover gaskets are deteriorating because it will show oil generally on plugs 3 n 4 when it starts n then the rest at some point obv.
This is something should be done every 50k max imo because they are cheap n they get gunked up. (If ur too cheap to replace them, then at least pulling them n checking them n then cleaning em before replacing them.
My car has 104k, thats when i got it n i changed those pl lugs cleaned the maf sensor and filters oil, diff fluids, all the things u need to do everytime u buy a used vehicle with over 50k because u never trust the person before u, esp because if they did the services prior to selling u think they gave a shit about whats in there or if the work was done properly, ofcourse not.
