Tony Iommi created Metal. Ozzy is so lucky to be part of Black Sabbath. Ozzy after being fired created his own Black Sabbath, Ozzy,. So did Dio. The Ozzy and Dio break up to me is the greatest thing ever. We got Randy Rhoads, Jake E Lee, and Vivian Campbell. 🎸
5:56 Geezer Butler started to speak, and instantly everyone went quiet and every single camera and microphone in that room turned to him. Listen to the legend.
Ozzy gets a lot of shit for having a big ego and “disrespecting” band members from his solo career. But this video proves all of that wrong. Ozzy answered the most questions but never once did he say “I”. He knows it’s a band, not himself. He truly is a humble guy and funny as hell too!
That's the tour I saw them on, w/Marilyn Manson. I didn't get to see them live when I was a teen until Dio sang for them. I missed the 77 and 78 shows, I don't think mom was too fond of Ozzy lol :)
You are right. Sabbath have always been humble, whether hailed as the God-Fathers of Heavy Metal, or scorned as "Devil worshippers". However, I think they have treated Bill Ward appallingly, even removing him from old images of the band- and that sucks.
Tony Iommi is the most underrated guitar player. How many people create an entire genre of music (Heavy Metal) that changes history forever?? Thank you Tony. 🎸
people always think its Ozzy..its geezer and tony. Shows the uneducated reporting. And why dont they ask Geezer more questions..hes the major player in the band too.
Geezer is a quiet dude most of the time, of course he is a powerhouse in the band...he's relatively quiet most of the time.

G it's not a contest mate. this has been said over and over. Black Sabbath IS all four (three in this case due to an "UN SIGNABLE contract" ) but I'll tell you in no uncertain terms the band was ozzy, he was the frontman, voice, charisma, charm, personality that skyrocketed them to unprecedented heights. it is, and always has been all about ozzy Osbourne.
Are you high? You obviously don't know what you are talking about....Ozzy was NOT the band...Black Sabbath did ok once he left, if it was as you put it "Ozzy was the band" then they have imploded. Alas, they didn't and had some great albums post-Ozzy. Ozzy once solo became a huge deal but before then, he was just the singer from Black Sabbath. Revisionist history at this point...
Tons of things to say here, on Bill Ward, on how they sound now, on Geezer getting 2 questions, etc... But what I notice the most is how Ozzy is. The guy is 67 or 68, has an old man's voice and body language and even though he's hiding behind hair, surgery and glasses you can see life has tired him out. But one thing never changed- the guy is still as funny as he was. Being almost 70, he has the same humor as before... You can still see the young, not giving a fuck dude playing the clown with a broom before a show in Paris, 1970. Or his ghost in this tired out body... It's as beautiful as it is sad.
"No women, no drugs....just music". Man, Geezer is amazing. Don't know if he is the quiet one of Sabbath, but he talked like he's tired of that dark stuffs of rock music..
Dude, when you're in your 70s and have snorted more coke and caught more STDs than you can remember then it's good sense to calm that side of thing down. You can't just go on fucking yourself up at that age.
These are the guys who started metal legends and help make all the bands I like thank you black Sabbath is the best they have done so much for metal thank you there would be in slayer or pantera thankyou
Absolutely... if I was to go see Black Sabbath with Ozzy I would definitely want to hear the classics .. we all cane to love Sabbath because of the classics. So that’s what we want
I feel so unlucky right now. "The End" is only being sold at Sabbath concerts and for a school kid in Pakistan, going to Australia, USA etc is not easy.
kiera robinson that's true I need a billboard behind the drums and he should have been doing that to her and when they did that I'm 13 they should have had him on the drums
Bullshit, Appice and Dio carried the torch. Go back to class and learn something before speaking such nonsense... Ward was the best they had, no doubt but shut your insolent mouth
@@boggybogallow It was his choice, but remember he didn't just say no and that was it. He wasn't being given his fair share, so he was standing up for his principals.
It's not Sabbath without Bill. As much as I enjoy seeing the three of these guys together it just feels incomplete. 13 was a decent enough album, but without Bill there was no closure.
Stupid question right off the bat: "Why did you choose to start off the tour in Omaha"? After all these years of live music tours, people still don't know that there are these things called tour managers whose job it is to book tours?
When the lady asked what kind of memories of touring it brought from the '70s and '80s, I was hoping Ozzy would quip "Well, I wasn't in the band in the '80s, was I?"
I read somewhere that he has some sort of unique genetic composition that allows his body to survive a great deal of substance abuse. The same goes for Keith Richards. Scientists are literally studying their genes to figure out how they've survived a lifestyle that would have killed the average person years ago it's insane lol
Shame they couldn't have worked something out with Bill Ward, if only to make some sort of amicable end to the feud... Many bands lose a member or two along the way, but something is very wrong about having a final tour when one of the original four is still walking around and saying he wanted to play :-(
I they needed Bill Ward on the drums if I do a new I'm a new tour will have mr. Bill Ward on the drums and I think he will come up with a new album and everyone a reason not to be very good to see the original members of Black Sabbath I've always liked Black Sabbath always have and always will forever and I am a true and I've been a long time Sabbath into ever since they first came out so long live Black Sabbath Ozzy Tony Geezer and Bill
Wow.....for everything Ozzy has done, the booze, the drugs and the years upon years of touring and bad food.....HE LOOKS AMAZING!! He certainly doesn't look like a 68 yr old man. Just saw them a few weeks ago and it was a amazing show.
Where's Bill? It ain't Black Sabbath without Billy Ward. Without Billy Ward, Sabbath is a beast without a beating heart. It's lunacy that these guys allow the contractual and managerial bullshit to exclude a most essentially quarter of this band.... especially whilst they're 'all still alive' and so 'perilously near to the end'.
Agreed. I haven't liked anything Sabbath has done without Bill. Other guitarists can play Iommi, but I've never heard anyone capture Bills style, which IS the Black Sabbath sound to me.
+xv750nz The overall Sabbath sound was a direct result of the four guys involved... it was a chemistry. As for other guys being able to play Iommi... nah, can't agree with that at all. All of Ozzy's guitar players when attempting to play Sabbath stuff would always over do it... the quintessential Sabbath sound always began with Iommo... and the others embellish it. Iommi is a one off and just as unique as Billy Ward and Geezer are in their styles. They all deliver their own inimitable contribution.
+Yelling Elk For me its the drumming that drew me to Black Sabbath originally and over the years Ive heard plenty of guitarists mimic Iommi very accurately at various gigs, but never heard a drummer that can play Bills style properly (or seemingly even attempted to). Im not saying you can replace Tony in Black Sabbath, but when you talk about chemistry its not lost on me that probably my least liked Black Sabbath album is the Seventh Sign, on which Tony is the only original member. Its probably a bit personal to me as i did a Sabbath tribute show for about 3 years during the 90's and I took great pains to play Bill as close as possible, including recreating the small mistakes on the album recordings, right down to the single hit on the cowbell and sound of the sticks being put down on the floor tom at the end of Sabra Cadabra :) For the record when Black Sabbath came here last i didn't go seeing as Bill wasn't playing.
+xv750nz Yeah... Seventh Star... buncha crap! Sabbath's last great album for me was 'Heaven & Hell'... I know it's the Dio model of Sabbath... but he brought a whole new thing to the band which I feel was valid. But yeah... don't get me wrong, I'm a guitarist... and there's absolutely nothing a guitarist likes more than a great drummer... and for me, Billy Ward was one of the best ever. I love his style and I love the man's passion, you couldn't bottle it!

Garegh62 I did, but I can't really say I saw anything exciting. There aren't any hostels there, so I guess it's not a backpacker's destination. I heard the people are nice though. Seems more like a great place to live than to visit.
Bill Ward wasn't good on the South American leg of the Cross Purposes tour there's a video on TH-cam from 1994 where you can see Tony Iommi trying to carry him through the concert.
So now, in 2019, you are a prissy, anal retentive perfectionist and purported connoisseur of heavy metal? Where were you in 1968 when they laid down the blueprint for ALL the heavy metal/ hard rock that was to follow? Don’t you see the difference between innovators and imitators?
They apologized, admitted it was a mistake to do so. They basically did it for Ozzys wellbeing how I see it, but they've still got love for each other.

tony iommi is the coolest person who has ever lived
"You guys invented a sound..." Ozzy points to Tony: "He invented the sound"..... damn straight...
wish I could've seen Tony's face
Quickly pointed out that fact.
It was like, immediate. "He invented the sound."
Ozzy once said: "Tony Iommi IS Black Sabbath. He's the only member of the band who can't be replaced". He was right about that too.

this band is going to be missed.....
Don't worry, they will still be writing and releasing albums.
They literally just said in the interview that they're not all though I know Ozzy is working on a new solo album.
ronald howsley Tony Iommi is working on a album with a church choras, and wants to write film music, none of them will quit music entirely.

Ozzy had no choice but to start solo work. The band kicked him out for being on drugs all the time lol
We need subtitles for Ozzy
Come on now that's just straight up disrespectful, the man is dyslexic and has parkinson's, cut the man some slack.
