    No doubt, this is one of the greatest music achievements of the 20th century.
    It will be remembered in ages as one of the most impressive works ever composed for a movie.
    And it stands for itself, like the symphonies of Beethoven or the Christmas Oratory of Bach!
    Thank you Miklos Rosza for writing this epic music.

    Absolutely incredible! I can't believe that someone loved this soundtrack as much as I do to give it such masterful treatment. And all these years later, too. Bravo to orchestra, chorus and maestro!

    I am sorry but that applause at the end was so lackluster. Were these people asleep? This performance should have gotten an IMMEDIATE and an extremely LOUD standing ovation.

    Delighted to have this, its as if some "lost" music of Roza was somehow rediscovered and had been released! The passover hymn gives goosebumps!

    Qué absolutamente maravilloso es el mundo de las bandas sonoras de cine clásico.
    Ròzsa fue uno de mis grandes favoritos, y este score monumental una de sus cimas.

    This is an outstanding performance, absolutely spot on. I’m curious, and I only ask this because the orchestra and choir sound perfect: Was the orchestra and choir performing along with a soundtrack?

    Wonderful music, which I've been listening to since I was 14. This is a fine performance, but what a pity they omitted the most glorious piece of all---the Main Title. Was there some copyright difficulty or what?

  • @Prospro8
    @Prospro8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Excellent performance all round. Not to be a stickler, but I think the original suite has the track 'Feast of the Passover', not 'The First Passover' which is of course a Moses thing! That piece is based on a mediaeval Spanish 'Hymn to the Dew' Hebrew song.

    Contrast this with the irreverent sounds of worship music in so many charismatic churches. I wish though, they'd included the tomb music in the final segment.

    Overwrought,overblown and bombastic, trivializing Rozsa’s radiant score. The glorious main theme is unforgettable, clearly the best thing about this sadly disappointing film

    • @TheVid54
      @TheVid54 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Rethink it Barry. Rozsa's score itself is bombastic, overblown and overwrought and beautifully suited to Nicholas Ray's "I-was-a-teenage-Jesus" treatment of the Christ myth. This was a wonderfully over-produced 70mm roadshow epic and Miklos Rozsa created a genius score that had audiences holy-rolling in the aisles even before the picture proper began. The Miklos Rozsa score for SODOM AND GOMORRAH was far more radiant and melodic than this one for KING OF KINGS.

    • @pp312
      @pp312 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TheVid54 Such cynicism, Mr. Vid. The film is no masterpiece but is much loved and has inspired many people over the years. As for the "Christ myth", no myth is involved, as you'd know if you'd done your historical research. Also take another look at the Shroud of Turin. Even the most cynical experts admit that the weight of evidence now falls very heavily on the side of the Shroud being genuine (forget the 1988 carbon dating. It's been totally debunked). As for Sodom and Gomorrah, I'm a great admirer of the score, but it's not better than KoK, simply different, and the film itself is a bit of a bomb. As for you...well, cynicism never got anyone anywhere, and I hope you'll soon see the light, as it were.
