Fibrosis, The Failing Heart, and Endotrophin | Nordic Bioscience

Fibrosis is a crucial process that occurs in the failing heart. As shown in our recent NEJM Evidence publication, fibrosis markers such as endotrophin allow us to identify a specific endotype of HFpEF patients who are at higher risk for disease progression.
Endotrophin is a very interesting molecule because it not only reflects the activity of fibroblasts, which are the main collagen-producing cells, but it is also a circulating bioactive peptide that may play a role in triggering the disease.
