I visited Columbus, a small town in Indiana where Cummins is headquartered. They also have the plant there. A lot of Indians work there, I think mainly employees and contractors in IT. Next to the town there is a beautiful forest called Brown County State Park.

My father completed his engineering degree from Cummins Pune in 1980's and after that established a business of engine overhaul, repair and sales of Cummins spare parts. Spent whole childhood seeing Cummins engines. Today he is no more. Miss those golden times! Love diesel engines ❤
Railway Locomotive has very little share of Cummins engines. In India Railway Locomotives are ALCOs, GM-EMD (now Progress Rail, under CATERPILLAR Group) & GE (now under WABTEC).
Cummins mainly powers DEMU Rakes.
Not much in Locomotive Markets in other parts of the world too.

Model number of genset don't remember but engine L9 series ka h 250 hp and 20kv ka genset h. Cummins ke sab diesel engines me turbo aata h naturally aspirated diesel engine ye banate hi nahi h.

Jiski vajah se voh fuel consumption AND CARBON emissions 12% tk reduce kr paye hai. This is very impressive I must say. Humare desh ki maharat ice engines mein kyu ni ho rahi?? EV's ki taraf bhagne ke liye inte utavle kyu hai? Infrastructure banana ni pr gaadiyan electric wali puri chahiye. Ek cheez mein acha krlo bhai. Verna phir na ghar ke hoge na ghat ke. Hydrogen engines pr bhi kaam kiya ja rha hai and I fully support/appreciate that decision. Pr dont neglect petrol/diesel too. PLS KEEP WORKING ON THEM AND IMPROVE!!

BTW, my Honda car runs on diesel and gives me exceptional fuel economy in mixed usage. I have clocked it between 26kmpl to 40kmpl. No petrol engine can claim this kind of efficacy even in hybrid mode.

Diesel has always been my preferred choice and I have lot of love and respect for diesel engines.
As for the government policies towards diesels, I would say it's an apartheid like attitude. If diesel is bad, other fossil fuels are not better either. One way or other they all pollute. Even electricals have serious environmental impact.

We have been holding shares in the family when Kirloskar Cummins came out with an IPO around 1962. The share was then Rs 100 paid. Many bonuses and split to Rs 2 / share. Great wealth creator.

My friend works in R&D in cummins. They do Super extensive research and testing for each and every small components.
Tata Motors (then TELCO) had access to Mercedes Benz engine technology, but they didn't do their own research so never had in-house engine technology. When their partnership with Mercedes-Benz stopped they had no other option but to buy engine from outside. That outside was Cummins.

0:44 Cummins supply engines for large full size American pickup trucks. They currently do not make engines for Izuzu/Nissan pickups. Cummins' smaller engines are not good.

Even earth moving machineries like hydraulic excavators especially 200 series 20 ton class of both firms uses particularly uses Cummins engine 5.9 liter model which is used by tata hitachi and Komatsu it by default, this model is probably the most sold in the world.

Please can you make one video on govt. Scrap policy and vehicle health test and what should govt need make changes in policy and if vehicle pass in test than how many years we can use and how many time we can extend/ renew vehicle use what is green tax it is good for Auto sector but changing vehicle in 10-15 or 20 is not affordable to mid and lower class and what about manufacturing plants use of resources and emission while producing vehicles and manufacturing company know that life of vehicles is set for 10-15 years so might they do Planned obsolescence etc like many small points
Cummins had a partnership with erstwhile Kirloskar , Kirloskar Cummins Oil Engines for DG sets even before collab with Tata . Tata used B series engines which are for pickup trucks in US , it was 6BT , an OHV design from the mid 80s . Cummins in 1213 SE trucks was crap, had lot of issues with oil thinking . New Tatas have switched to ISB engines which are modern , displacement is still 5.8 L , a medium size pickup truck engine in the US market. Tata Daewoo however use L series engines , with higher displacement. BEML Tatras , BEML dump trucks also use Cummins engines. Cummins uses series B, C,N to denote application.

Diesel engines are meant for industrial uses primarily thanks to the viscosity and density of diesel fuel in comparison to gasoline and kerosene. Diesel engines ke compression ignition aur high compression ratio ke kaaran woh zyada powerful, zyada mileage, aur zyada bhaari kaam kar paate hain.
