    This video was a great help! I watched several videos with far more complex processes for getting stuff out of the way, but taking the headlight off was very quick and gave way more access than anything else I was finding online. Thank you for making this!

    I chose to remove the 2 fender bolts on the top of the fender and lifted the headlight out. I didnt have to remove any of the wheel well shrouds or screws. I took the 2 body clips off of the bumper on the top to the right of the headlight and lifted it a bit to access the 3rd bolt. Your headlight idea was genius. Now I just need to find the 8mm I launched into my garage.

    You are The Man! Going through the headlight is better than all those other videos out there! Still difficult to mess with the clamps, but everything you did was spot on!!

    Just finished. Removing the head lamp assembly was genius. Although it still wasnt easy. Ended up havin to buy some 10” straight and 45 degree needle nose pliers. Needed both to remove and reinstall the hoses and clamps. Used every size extension I own with my 1/4 and 3/8’s ratchets for the repair.
    Also it took a couple cycles for the new thermostat to function properly,

    After watched all videos, I spent almost 4 hours to played with my Focus 2010. Tried ways to release two hose clamps on it but I couldn’t ( didn’t want to remove more parts because the removal wasn’t helpful more ) tried a little bit but it’s not really easily too) . Finally I have found out the easy way without remove the head light, grill, bumper...as videos.
    1- Remove the cover shield bottom radiator to drain out the coolant ( opened the metal radiator cap ).
    2- Use a small grooved plier 6”’ to release the small hose clamp. In this rubber hose is about 3” short, has 2 clamps on it, we will remove the one which nearest the auluminum pipe.
    3- Use a small hook tool 90 degree to peel off the stick between rubber hose with auluminum pipe and disconnect them.
    4- Use a ratchet, extension, socket wrench 8 mil as you saw in video to take out 3 housing bolts and disconnect the housing with engine.
    5- At the radiator bottom, release the big hose clamp bottom with a grooved plier 10” and pull all part down to the floor. That’s all.
    4 hours vs 30 minutes!

      So are you saying all work and removal should be done from under the car?

    • @sonnynguyen8012
      @sonnynguyen8012 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@stangdad7848 Let’s follow steps:After drains out the coolant, steps 2-3-4 are not under car. After removing the small hose and its clamp, continue unscrew 3 bolts of the thermostat bolts, let the big hose and its clamp there ( don’t try to remove them now ), use a big flat screw driver or a pry bar to pry loose the thermostat housing. After that we work at the step 5 ( under car ) you will started removing the big clamp and hose where it comes in to under the radiator. After that you will pull them down to the floor ( big hose and thermostat housing together )!
      Have a fast well done the job!

    But, honestly, you kinda saved my life, too, yo. I couldn't figure out where the stupid thermostat was at all on my own....... AND I been running around with my nose shoved into a haynes manual..... Nice work. 😁 You showed me where the stupid thing is and a better approach than the manual more than likely would direct me, meaning my neighbors won't have to hear me screaming obscenities at my car or take cover in case of random flying tools being thrown out of anger.

    no doubt this is the way to do it...i bet this is how the dealer does it too...couple tips though...ger a extendable magnet picker upperer at the autopart store thats no bigger than a nickel...also get a pair of small locking pliers because its hard to get the clamps off...also have a flashlight...thank you sir...however i still wound up at mechanic because it was actually a corroded wire on a sensor that gave me a false high temp light on cylinder head...but if i didnt change it the place told me i needed a thermostat...300$....told them i already did that they did a flush...still overheated so they found the sensor wire lol

    I'm convinced Ford made this car a pain in the ass for the same reason(s).... To make it too frustrating for anyone to work on it other than ase certified Ford techs.... Fortunately, I'm a tiny, female mechanic.....I can get into most of these small spaces....I have a feeling bleeding my radiator when all is said and done, though, will probably be a pain as well... If I get all that done and out of the way with little to no issues in-between thanks to your awesome advice here, and find out my heater core is what is the problem with mine, I'm gonna rage..... Lol

    • @dubmob151
      @dubmob151 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I just replaced the OEM thermostat with a Dorman aftermarket for under $17; it seemed to have the same metal supports as the OEM.
      Found the failure of the original Ford thermostat with under 90k miles was due to the gasket seat for the thermostat actually came loose from the sealing surface, and just wedged it open as it cooled down.
      Not something that I'd expect should have happened with a factory part, but that's why it just flowed all the time.

    • @dubmob151
      @dubmob151 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I didn't remove anything when I changed it, with a 8mm socket and extension, the bolts were easily accessible and visible through the manifold at the dipstick.
      Hardest part was pulling off the hose from the old housing, it was pretty well stuck on. Removing the hose from the bottom allowed it to be pulled off more easily.

  • @josephmason738
    @josephmason738 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    With a plastic housing what foot pounds or inch pounds should the bolts be torqued to ?
