    1/10 ounce is the gateway into gold for many of us. One a month is a very reachable goal for me. It does add up. Btw I prefer the clear capsules so you can see the edges. That proof gold Libertad is beautiful. The gold Mercury Dime was one of my 1/10 ounce purchases earlier this year.

      I did a similar thing. My silver was getting quite bulky, but I'm not quite ready to spend big money, so every now and then, I'll pick up a tenth of gold and not worry about it too much.

    Just pulled the trigger last night on a 1/10 oz. Britannia for $204 from Hero Bullion to add to my “jr. gold tube”. Also have a 1/4 oz. AGE-Type 2 on the way. (But I still love my silver enough to hit the LCS later today for some Constitutional!)

    It is an interesting idea to pick up a 1/10 gold coin every month. I set a goal of getting an oz of gold every year. and managed to get 2 oz this year, Maybe for 2022 I should set a goal of getting a 1/4 of gold every quarter.

    • @SilverForeverX
      @SilverForeverX  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      For me, it's just cheaper (by premium) to get 1/10 oz gold pieces. For whatever reason, they always seem to be at my LCS, but not the quarter or half ounces. Online, the fractional gold is typically just more expensive than what I can find locally. Always great to diversify the stack!

    I bought 50 of these 1/10 oz britannias, eventually I came to the conclusion that the extra premiums I paid was a poor decision.
    The 1/10oz is 3.1gram is extremely tiny, whilst a half sovereign has much greater surface area for not alot of extra weight difference and lower premiums.
    Also the sovereign has a monetary history reflected in different dates and commemorative designs going back hundreds of years.
    BTW, if you expand security features in physical scale for bigger coins, they would become easier to counterfeit.

    • @SilverForeverX
      @SilverForeverX  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Good point about the security features. I only have 1 sovereign right now, but it's a fantastic one--- the 500th anniversary (video: th-cam.com/video/9zJZxFlL6Mc/w-d-xo.html) !
      I personally love 1/10 oz gold coins, but I definitely consider them collector's items (for me personally) -- I only have a few duplicates here and there. Hopefully you have a found an outlet for some of your tenths where you can recoup some of that extra premium. Nope, but you can order almost every size. Check out OnFireGuy (not affiliated) who sells a lot of AirTite products including variously sized clear capsules. Most of the online dealers have them for sale as accessories too. I'd say most 1/10th gold fits into the A16 size (16 mm for eagles, maples, etc.) but some like the Chinese Pandas and Somali Elephants actually need a larger size! Just look up the coin's technical specs for diameter.. If a coin is 20mm diameter, then you would search for A20 for direct fit. I hope this helps!

    I bought a package of 20 capsules for 1/10 gold size. It also came with a tube to store those capsules. So, of course, I need to fill the tube. I have about 8 more to get. But one of them is a 1/10 oz platinum Britannia. I thought maybe to move up to 1/4 oz once the tube is filled. Don't really like paying these premiums on fractional gold but it is hard to save up for one ounce size without spending the money on the smaller size or silver first. The price of 1/10 oz gold varies wildly among vendors, so people need to shop around.

    • @SilverForeverX
      @SilverForeverX  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm doing an update video soon, my collection is probably close to the same size as yours (in the capsule tube).. For me, I pay the same premium % if its 1/10 or 1/4 so I have just been sticking at the tenth. There are some interesting advantages at the 1/4 and 1/2 size, but I'm mostly stacking 1 oz and collecting 1/10 oz. I totally agree that people NEED to shop around if buying 1/10. What's your favorite piece?

      @SilverForeverX  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I agree which is why I refer to this as my collection. For my gold stack, I prefer 1 oz coins. I recently did a video on these premium differences for the American Gold Eagle from 10 major dealers and found that, while some charge as much as 55% premium for the 1/10, you can regularly find them elsewhere in the 15% range. There's some great charts in that video, I think you'd like it! th-cam.com/video/j04r1bl-W_Q/w-d-xo.html

      I don't know enough about purchasing in the UK to give you very good advice.. You have a 1/8th ozt gold coin? Here in the US, any 1/10 ozt gold coin typically costs $200+ USD, so if you can get close to that nowadays you are doing pretty well. Online today, I'm seeing them range from $200 at SD for a 1/10oz gold round to $300+ at APMEX if you want a particular year for a gold coin

    • @SilverForeverX
      @SilverForeverX  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hey Petr, nice to hear from you! The Palladium eagle has 2 of my favorite designs, obverse AND reverse! Yes, the 1/10 eagles are _technically_ thicker, but not by much-- 16.5mm diameter and 1.26mm thick, whereas the maples are 16mm diameter and 1.22mm thick. One thing that surprised me is the 3g gold Panda (vs. 3.1g in 1/10 coins) is actually wider at 18mm diameter, but thinner at 1.02mm.

    Love your stuff man. But come on we clicked for 1/10th coins, two minutes in until we even see them. 1/10 is king. Sucky premium, but more barter friendly. 1oz you have to save for a year to get one and usually most aren't gonna be able to save that long to get an oz. You will end up finding someway to spend it. But the 1/10thoz, buy it and it's out of the realm of spending unless you go to a lcs or personal buyer. So yea, anyone that watches this video, don't be scared, get that 1/10th. And personally there is higher gold content in other gold coins than the eagle. Cheers.
