In America I'd say the Buffalo then the Eagle. Overall the Britannia wins it for me with the security features and being pure gold. My problem with the gold maple is that the silver maple looks more stunning 🤣
I am with you. Brittania is absolutely gorgeous. Not a big fan of the buffalo. Do not see the appeal compared to the detail and security features of the britt
I truly admire your discipline. I made many financial mistakes in my twenties. Watching you has given me inspiration to get my affairs in order (among other things). When you stop spending for today, and instead save for the future, it completely changes the way you look at life. People need to stop thinking that having personal discipline means they have to stop having fun or enjoying life.
I started out as a collector of coins so I love pre 33 gold. Way more valuable than just melt and I love the history behind them. I stack constitutional silver but almost all the gold for me are pre 33...
The Krugerrand is a world standard bullion coin and globally recognized and accepted. Currently the premiums aren't crazy so I would put it higher on the stacker list
The krugerrand is very expensive to buy in Canada because it is taxable upon buying because of its purity. So it costs an extra like $140 or so to buy on top of spot and the premium. I'd love to get one someday but not any time soon
My overall Rankings: 1. Britannia 2. Buffalo 3. Eagle 4. Maple Leaf 5. Krugerrand 6. Liberty 7. Kangeroo 8. Libertad 9. Panda 10. Philharmonic On a different day I could easily choose the Buffalo or Gold Eagle as my number 1, especially since I live in America. The Britannia is just perfection imo, and it usually has a better premium than the AGE, Buffalo, or Maple. I’m not as down on the Libertad as Yankee, but I wouldn’t pay the normal premium for one either. I would never stack a Philharmonic when I could get a Maple Leaf or Britannia at the same price. The Krugerrand’s ruggedness is appealing as a change up as it would likely make the best currency out of all of these. I like the Panda design, and we can have disdain for China all we want, but if we’re ever using gold as currency again, then there is a high probability that the Chinese will be a top trading partner of ours. The Kangeroo is okay, but like the Philharmonic, it’s a step below its competition imo. The Libertys are an interesting coin. I know some like Bill Holter highly recommend the Liberty for confiscation reasons. At the end of the day, an ounce of gold is an ounce of gold. The lower the premium the better, though I do prefer gold coins to bars or rounds.
My brother just got me a gold 1oz 2023 buffalo from Apmex as a emergency savings . Awesome idea right .. I am not great with cash so this is safer to hold onto for long term
I appreciate you Yankee. Not just for good advice on silver and gold stacking, but for your patriotism, character, and most importantly, your Christian spirit. If we are to make it in this country, it won't be without God's help. Thank you for being an unashamed witness for God and all that is good in our country.
Its funny over here in NZ, Kangaroos and Maples are probably the best 1oz coins to stack as the American stuff has huge premiums. Also Gold sovereigns are pretty good to buy with the lowest premiums for fractional gold.
i missed this somehow glad it popped up in my feed. i buy silver from all around the world but when it comes to gold, all i buy are buffalos, eagles and pre-33. i pay the premium and know i could get more for my money if i bought foreign gold. but, i just never have. good video
I agree with that. There’s something about the added copper durability of the Krugerrand that is appealing to me. I’d place it over the Kangeroo and Philharmonic.
I’m starting to add Gold to my stack. Great vid! Personally I really dislike the Queen on my coins lol. That being said can’t beat the low premiums on gold maples.
The image of the Queen is indeed very beautiful. However it's no longer being minted. We now have King Charles III and it looks like his face is melting.
Nice collection there Yankee! Although in the US, all my gold ounces are Maples. Beautiful design, 24K, and a substantially lower (right now at my LCS $45 lower) premium than on Buffalos. The US Mint should match their prices IMO.
Excellent video, sir! And thank you for your witness at the end. May our Lord bless you for that! I love that you're stacking variety. I started out doing that: Kruggs, Kangaroos, AGEs, $10 pre 33 Eagles, some ½ oz. Philharmonics, and even a 1982 ½ oz Panda. My goal was to have as many different coins as possible. And then I bought 2 Buffalos. My next purchase was to be 2 Britanias, and 2 of something else, maybe Maples. Somehow that ended up being 4 more Buffalos. Then I ended up ordering 4 more so we now have a half tube. Not sure what happened, but I’ve really grown to like that coin. OK, I do know what’s happened: they’re American bullion and they’re four 9’s fine - ‘nuf said. So, yeah, count me in the Buffalo column! 😊
Hi Yankee! I was totally surprised that we both choose the Buffalo. Some don’t like it because of the design however it is a US Mint and .9999 purity. Best bang for the buck IMHO. I picked up a Buffalo first strike ms70 for less than a cull AE 22 karat..
My father-in-law was big on krugs. I think he watched Lethal Weapon a few too many times! I am not a fan of krugs unless I can get them close to spot, very close. I dumped all that I had when gold went up a decent amount. Unsurprisingly, they did not command the same premium other gold coins did such as the AGE and Buffalo. I probably have more kangaroos than I should, usually obtainable at about half the premium as the AGE, but the resale again suffers on the premiums. Nice top 10 review, and gorgeous proof AGE. I should do a top 10 worst gold coins to stack, because I've bought my fair share of them!
Hi Yankee, first i wanna thank you for the great input your channel provides to me. I am from Austria - and the value of the theme (of the austrian philharmoniker) is the room acoustics of the hall in which this organ is built in! it is proven to be one of the top sounding rooms on EARTH! no joke! ;) that's why we're proud of the "golden hall of musikverein wien" ;) If you visit Austria - just holla at me, I have some place to stay for both you guys.
My favourite bullion coins are Krügerrand and American Eagle. No Queen and one of the traditional modern bullion coins. The guys also thought of something when they decided on the alloy. You have to treat 24 K gold like raw eggs.
Good choices. The Kuegerand was my first one ounce coin. Too much copper even though it still has one ounce of gold. The American Gold buffalo is a modern day classic that truly captures the American spirit. That's my number one as well
I agree with your rankings and reasons, especially the top 5, spot on. I can't believe you don't own a proof Buffalo, though, Yankee (I assume because you didn't mention it). Gotta get one for your collection!
I started with Krugerrands, then Buffalos, then Britannias & Maples, then got a screaming deal on some Philharmonics. Thereafter, the rest of my gold stack has been all Buffalos. Just couldn't beat the premiums at the time and they felt good in the hand.
My brother just got me a gold 1oz 2023 buffalo from Apmex as a emergency savings . Awesome idea right .. I am not great with cash so this is safer to hold onto for long term
I would flip #1 and #2 personally. The buffalo is beautiful but just isn't as popular and I always consider how well they will sell if it ever comes to that. However, I know that you don't ever plan to sell and neither do I but you never know. Now the buffalo will sell but I think there is more interest in the AGE. Thanks Yankee...great video!
Nice ranking. I personally don´t care what´s on the coin but what´s inside. And: I am not a huge fan of PRC, but if you can get gold pandas near melt value, buy them. Some of them (especially from the 90s) got some very high premiums.
For stackers in the USA, the Maples, Krugerrands, and Libertads have 1099-B IRS reporting requirements when 25 troy ounces are bought from or sold to a bullion dealer in a single transaction. The Eagles, Buffalos, Philharmonics, Britannias, Perth Mint coins, and even the Pandas are exempt from reporting. This is something people should be aware of before choosing a gold stacking target. I did not know this when I started stacking in 1999 and chose to stack Maples exclusively. So if I wanted to sell my entire collection and wished to avoid reporting, I would have to divide it up between several bullion dealers.
Yankee the best gold ounce is the cheapest gold ounce. With that said, my desire to pay a little premium goes to the buffalo. Krugerrands always end up on bottom next to bars and rounds, all the other’s are about the same when you sell them.
Trying to get my gold stack up at the moment. Got started with a 1/10 philharmonic, 1/10 brittania, 1/10 age, and 1/10 maple leaf. 3 are 2022 and the AGE I got from Tim is a 1995 which is my birth year and I didn’t even see the date when I bought it!!
Excellent presentation. I have more Krugerrands than any other gold coin (12) and agree that the color is a little off-putting. But I got them at good discounts and gold is gold, correct?
well i am glad i did not miss this episode > i really enjoyed this love seeing the colors all together i think i am pretty close if not the same on you list almost spot on thanks 🙏🏻 for you hard work and GREAT CONTENT
great list I will say my list is a little different but its all a matter of taste, I can deal with the Queen and I like the copper color the Rand has so the Roo is my #1 and the Brit and Rand are #2 and 3 depending on price.
While searching for the best deal, several times I have found proof coins that were the lowest premium over spot at the time. One quarter ounce eagle I bought below spot! When the prices shot up in 2020 they were some of the first ones I sold and I made a good profit on them - so don't automatically discount proofs! If you can buy them for less than a BU coin and keep them or sell them for a profit they are a winner!
Great video Yankee, always love your insight on stacking. Is your stack insured? Is that something you believe in? Just always wondered if other stackers do it as a precaution
I don't necessarily disagree with your take, but I think it's always worth noting that buying too many Maples or Krugerrands in the US is a bad idea. If the time comes that you need to sell them (I know we never want to but if times get tough we may need to) you can be audited if you sell too many at once. Given the recent "upgrades" to the IRS I take that threat pretty seriously
I love the gold 🦬 it truly is simply the best in my opinion. Number two is the gold Britannia is simply stunning. It is followed by the gold Canadian 🍁 another beautiful coin. That’s my top three. Awesome video and yes Yankee I did hit the like button. HaHa.
Oh….tsk tsk, Yankee! I understand “stacking” to be without emotion. It is to gather the purest gold at the best price (lowest premiums). Is that not correct? And here ya go, all subjective and gushing about “design” and “beauty”. Yankee, you are turning into a collector now! 🤣🤣🤣 This was a great video, even tho I tease you. I enjoy hearing your thoughts and responses on the coins. 👍🏻
Glad to see the Centenario being mentioned. My favourite coin by far, and quite popular here in France, plus it's the lowest premium "large" gold coin (just after Austria's 100 Corona, which is way less popular). 50 Pesos for chunky gold, 20Fr french roosters and swiss helvetia for the fractionals, this will be my strategy to save bucks on premiums 😉
My top 9. 1) Britannia, 2) Maple, 3) Kangaroos 4) Libertads 5) AGE 6) Buffalo 7) Liberty 8) Philharmonic 9) Krugerrands. Only 9 because I'm not giving money to the Chi-Coms full stop.
You should have included the Spanish Doubloon. Now the 2023 version is the Caballo (Lince 2021 and Toro 2022). An ounce coin with the quadruple image security system. I believe that today a gold coin that does not have an anti-counterfeiting system is outdated.
I'm thinking a keyboard instrument...and because I live in the US for stacking I put all the US gold in the #1 spot, which order would be dictated by the price of the day. As collectors pieces the coins from free countries are all beautiful options, but I especially like the 50 Pesos and the Libertad.
I'm pretty much on par with your assessment. When I don't have enough for an ounce and I think fractional I usually go for the $5 Liberty beautiful and obviously common dates but brilliant uncirculated it's my weakness a little bit of history and a little bit of gold in my stack
On the Gold Eagle the type one like your proof is so much better than the type 2. I have one of each I look at the type too and I go who at the myth thought that this looks better than that cuz they should be fired
10 - Chinese Panda cz they're not in troy ounces, 9 - Libertads cz they're so expensive, 8 - Kruggerrand cz they're taxable in my country, 7 - Eagle cz they're taxable in my country, 6 - Pre 33 cz they're taxable in my country, 5 - Australian, 4 - Austrian, 3 - Buffalo, 2 - Britannia, 1 - Maple Leaf
I like the Krugerrand for its reddish tint and hardness keeps it looking great. The worst coin is the Maple. They were too cheap to add extra medal for hardness and they always scratch up.
Hey everyone, don’t forget to hit the thumbs up 👍🏻! (Right now it’s only around 10% of you. 😉)
Definitely want to get one of those tree of life coins pretty cool looks like they’re sold out
The way I look at it, the more Chinese gold in American hands, the better.
I always do before I click play!

The top 10 was worth a thumbs up, but the last minute of the video makes me wish I could hit the thumbs up a million times.
Britannia takes #1 for me. 24k gold and the 2022 security features make it the most trustworthy coin out there.
Love the Britannias.
I’m 100% with you for the same reasons also the premiums are too high on US coins.

For stackers in the USA, the Maples, Krugerrands, and Libertads have 1099-B IRS reporting requirements when 25 troy ounces are bought from or sold to a bullion dealer in a single transaction. The premium on a Brittiania is $65.00 where the Eagle is $140.00 and the the Buffalo is $128.00. My money is on the Brittiania.
Yankee the best gold ounce is the cheapest gold ounce. With that said, my desire to pay a little premium goes to the buffalo. Krugerrands always end up on bottom next to bars and rounds, all the other’s are about the same when you sell them.

I’m guessing trumpet?? Am I right? Very nice coins! Love the vids!
For me it's the 50 pesos, Canadian maple, buffalo and the gold eagle......just in that order 👍 😎
I guess you played the trumpet 🎺 Britannias all the way for me ‘cos I’m a Brit and not interested in paying Capital Gains Tax when I sell 😁
I too hate the Canadian government but I sure do love the maple leafs and the silver RCM bars
My top 9. 1) Britannia, 2) Maple, 3) Kangaroos 4) Libertads 5) AGE 6) Buffalo 7) Liberty 8) Philharmonic 9) Krugerrands.
I’m thinking you played the trombone.. Don’t know why I’m thinking that but it’s my guess.. Hey, great video. Damn I learn a lot from you !!!
Trumpet. 😉
Hey legit human commenter here... Thanks for the great content Yankee...
Hey, thanks Joe!
The Eagle and Krugerrand are 22carat gold and as such they are taxed by countries such as Canada or Singapore. However 24 carat coins are not.
Agreed I'd haven't and will never stack a Panda, however I'd buy them at 20% behind spot. Only to sell for something else.
The 🎻 Yankee? Great list thank you!
I like the Krugerrand for its reddish tint and hardness keeps it looking great. The worst coin is the Maple. They were too cheap to add extra medal for hardness and they always scratch up.
Falta la onza lince iberico españa!!! Y luego la onza de el toro !!! Buen video amigo...
curious your thoughts on the Austria 100 Corona coin, it's 0.98oz and is usually found for sale at within $25 from spot price in BU condition.
Great video Tks!
