Dated or Dope. For me it is 21x Dope!! I have this feeling that everything that digital synthesizers have to offer was already said during 80's and 90's. No new synth, hardware of software makes me think: WOW We've never heard this before!! ... I get it, more GB of samples, better FX... but in the end it is all about what you do with it and not about the specs. Anyway just my opinion. Amazing video!!!
Totally agree. And many times modern hardware sound a lot worse than the old ones. Some examples: the Kurzweil k2600 is better than Forte, the Roland jd990 is better than integra 7. More possibilities does not mean creating a better sound. So, vintage synths forever :) digital and analog (other examples: prophet 5 is better than prophet 08, Model D is better than voyager). New doesn't mean most of the time: better :)

True. More is not always better.
The Triton always had its own sound. I nearly bought one in 2003 but got convinced to get the Motif ES instead, on the basis that it was far better at the bread and butter sounds. I always regretted it, because I found that while the Motif was a superb workhorse, it didn't have the character of the Korg. You never felt like you connected with it. The Triton was like entering a special world every time you played it.

Actually I traded out of a Triton to a Motif. I’m using that same motif as a co troller for Triton VST!
I love the pads and strings second to none and the keybed is fantastic
I love the Triton Studio that I have.. never disappoints.
Yes, the first studio i worked at had a Triton. I've had a a Motif XS since then but the bells and pads on the Triton are magical. Nothing to this date can recreate that feeling.

Bought one of the first ones made. Been tweaking the programs for 20 years. and very happy with the sounds. Still use it on gigs today...

Can you really claim it's dated when people are still using (broadly) the same analogue sounds that have been used for 40+ years? It's what you do with it...

I got a Triton rack a couple years ago, it's a fantastic synth that just keeps surprising me. I made a list of my favorite patches too and we picked almost all the same ones! My no.1 is definitely God's Bathtub
do you recommend the rack over the full keyboard?
Can't be outdated. Some of these sounds I recognize in newer, celebrated albums beside contemporary granular synthesis, physical modelling, pure data texture sounds. I must get a Triton for sure, racks actually are cheap.

Nothing can be dated when Bruno Mars brought the 90s R&B sound back with the 24K magic album. Even the 70s Disco sound is coming back. Beyonce Knowles new album has many 1970s Disco sounding backing tracks. Even E-MU sounds are still being used on that's records. I still own E-MU MO Phatt Proteus module, Yamaha MOTIF ES, Roland Fantom-XR, Roland Integra-7 as my legacy Rompler hardware collection of sounds you wouldn't find in today's soft synths.
This sounds great now, it sounded great 20 years ago and it will still sound great 100 years from now. The patches are a matter of personal taste, of course, but the overall impression? Absolutely dope. :)
God’s Bathtub is the best pad I’ve heard in any synth ever. Korg really knows how to make good pads.

Oh man, I wanted one of those back when I was in college [couldn't afford to buy one, of course]. A couple of years earlier, my high school had an M1 in the concert hall. I was forbidden to touch it, because I was a peon violin player and not part of the vaunted marching band. So guess what: yeah, I gave that synth a test run one day after class, when nobody was there. [Don't tell anyone about that, or the Gestapo will break my door down and haul me off.]

To me, those sounds are wonderful. They remind me the glorious days where Deep forest and Enigma topped the charts... however they are dated, as such beautiful music isn't much made anymore... :-( But maybe will music history once again show it's cyclic pattern and make such great sounds come back one day...
I just bought a Triton pro X for 500 bucks Canadian. There is still life left in this unit. It really does have some nice sounds.
Owned PRO X, and currently own the 61 and & 76 Tritons. These are beasts and were ahead of it's time. Love them!!!
Still enjoying my Triton sounds on my Korg MicroArrager today. The MicroArranger allows me to layer 4 sounds (split 3 upper/1 lower) for some massive patches. The grand piano is surprisingly good if you add a stereo 31 band graphic equalizer for fine tuning the sound.
Still got my Triton Studio and going strong.

3:49 is inspired by the Akira soundtrack. All of these voices are in my synth, which I am in love with. Those who carry orange Korg boxes are rare as TVR owners.
Or, more likely, directly inspired by gamelan music, which is what the Akira instruments you mentioned are used in.
Korg Triton is unstoppable. Learn how to program. As a rompler it kicks ass. Touch screen programming is the shit. I've had mine for 18 years!!!

Back in the days, the Korg Triton was ma dream, I was kept wondering about that day and night in early 2000 😍😍🥰
This workstation is a beast and holds up to this day. The artist and concepts is what truly makes this instrument shine. Hard not to get lost soundscape designing and can be truly inspirational most times. I find for workflow and making the most of time it is imperative to have a good idea of what sound you're after before you go menu diving. Awesome video btw ✌😍👍

I think you should make these presets your own. These sounds aren't for mainstream 'trap-hop' or current pop but you can create soundtrack and lounge music with it.
With these sounds I performed at local art class the day before christmas (last day before the holidays) and my fellow students loved it.
Mark de Muze The Triton does a lot more than lounge music - I used it in a synth pop / indie band back in the day and it worked brilliantly. In isolation, the sounds can seem on the thin side but they always cut through in a band situation.

I think values of these will go up once people realise how awesome they still sound. They have a character that fits in well with almost any mix, plus the fully programmable arpeggios (quite rare nowadays) and rock solid build quality. They don’t make them like they used to!
I have the Rack version, also the VST version of this. I love both! Awesome sounds! Not outdated IMHO.
One of the best feature of the Triton Classic is it use the Yamaha FS keybed keyboard action... so it really feel wonderful and nicely expressive.. miles beyond cheap midi controller..
the designers know, it could only sounds awesome if key actions is great...
IMO the key actions is really the best, and it would make a fabulous MIDI controller..
i've not been able to coax much in the way of aftertouch from it, which seems strange.

I totally agree, i have the triton studio & after playing that for years I cannot stand the keybed action of any of the current midi controllers. I tried the montage, i can’t believe how cheap the keybed felt. being a flagship I thought they would use a superior waterfall action, but no.
@@NiharSavala i'm afraid you're gonna stuck with the triton studio action preference my friend =) ... i played that keyboard and the keyboard action is as great as it can get...
long after the sounds and features get outdated -- the keyboard action will still be second to none and worth to keep..

Your Triton is very clean to be 21yrs old! I love the Triton & I’ve seen many “dingy silver grey” ones lol 💪🏾
A key part of this thing's sound is the IFX/MFX chain. The Korg Triton basically has rack quality (quite powerful when compared to peers from the same late 90s design era) multi effects engines built in. The reverbs are nowhere near as good as what you can get in 2020, but they still have character aplenty, and the delay sounds, and modulation sounds are both powerful, and configurable.
Part of making a good playable sound on a Triton is to map certain effects to change with key velocity or with the control knobs on the front (there are four user assignable knobs), or to the expression pedal, or the expression/mod wheel, or ribbon, or aftertouch.
Turn all IFX/MFX off and these patches won't sound that good, usually.
A huge amount of the fun is to build your own combis and to tweak the provided combis. Play one and don't want bells? Change that combi slot to something else.
Different beat or kit? Change the drum arp or the drum kit.
I personally found my Korg TR irritating when listening to it, if the Compressor or EQ effect brought the noise floor up, suddenly a patch would become super noisy. I preferred to alter all patches, sometimes removing the compression or EQ, and subsituting it for another effect, to avoid the "noise floor" issues.
Of course my noise floors were also higher because I had the audio inputs on my Korg turned on and turned up to attach an FM synth to my Korg and use its built in effects with the external synth.
I believe that the Triton also has a digital noise gate to help make these situations a little more tolerable, but a noise gate pedal outboard might also be a good thing to use with this era of boards.
This thing is a hella-large multi effect pedal, really, as well as a synth.

All the manufacturers have winners. The Triton and Poly 800 from Korg. Yamaha with the DX7, AN1X and MOTIF6 and finally Roland with their JUNO 60. Older synths that still kick ass today.
I'd say the Wavestation, the M1 or the MS20 are more likely winners alongside the Triton
I wouldn't say Juno 60. It was really the JV-1080 which was the most widely used synth and the most sold in Roland's entire history. Roland sold millions of those unit's. Those sounds were used all just about every 90s R&B and Hip Hop hit record, movie sound tracks and dance music...
I have the Triton rack and the TR rack (Trinity), these two are sounding better and warmer then my Krome EX

i will never get rid of my triton. i used the Gods Bathtub preset on one of my songs and i use epic orchestra quite a lot when i do orchestral pieces
Still have my Triton LE 88 from like 2002 and it’s falling apart but I can’t bear to part with it. Not a full-fledged Triton I know but it still has way more going on than I ever really scratched the surface of, a damn good keybed, and it was the first real professional keyboard I ever had and 13-year-old me saved up a looong time for it. I felt so vindicated when Korg released the Triton VST, “like, it’s crossed into vintage synth territory!” Who’s out there repairing and restoring these?
Just picked up a Triton LE 88 needing some TLC for cheap. Disassembled it completely, cleaned up inside n out, new switches… It’s now like a new machine and awaiting the sampler expansion. I can get lost for hours playing with the sounds. Nice upgrade from my EPS 16+. 😁
I owned a fully expanded Tiriton Classic with MOSS board and EXB1 and EXB2 boards and used it's internal sequencer to create entire songs right out of the box! All too often I opted against switching on my Mac G4 running a Digideisng Digi001 with Protools and Logic because I loved the immediacy and simplicity of simply switching on one great sounding workstation synth that had all the bases covered. I also loved the cue lists feature in the sequencer that allowed you to easily create separate parts of a song and then combine them together and easily experiment with different arrangements. The one sound I loathed in the Triton was it's factory acoustic piano program. Hence why I spent the extra on the PCM01 expansion board that had vastly superior piano sounds at the time. The MOSS board was also phenomenal. In a way I'm sad that I sold it, but I now have all the Korg VSTs including the Triton and Triton Extreme. Keep up the great work and this is a fantastic demo!

I've bought and sold MANY synths over the past three decades, but I've held on to my Korg Triton Rack, my two TR Trinity Racks and My Triton 88.
The quality of their organs, electric pianos, clavs, synths and specially their pads are far superior than anything from Yamaha or Roland. I've owned JVs, Fantom and currently own a Motif Rack XS and they don't come close to the Korgs.
The power of the Korg Triton and TR is found in their "combis". Some of the best organ and moving pads I've heard are found in their factory preset combis. Superb sounding patches!
Now, the bad....
1. You'll need a VST acoustic piano to make up for the horrible paino on the Triton.
2. Programming the Triton is a nightmare. At least for me it is. I'm used to my two Access Virus and Nord Lead that are tweakable via knobs. That's not happening with the Triton.
All in all, it's a rompler. But it's one of the best to ever do it!!

That "Ultimate" keyboard stand is moving all over the place, is that the best this stand can do? Amazing how bad 99% of all keyboard stands are. I use a heavy duty speaker stand that is adjustable in height, can support very heavy keyboards and is rock solid support, zero movement, and folds up into a small size.

Those Apex stands wobble a lot if you forget to lower and tighten the little adjustable foot at the bottom of the side facing the user. Amazing how much difference one little piece of plastic can make!

I'm late to this vid but I'd have to say Dope. I still have mine. I use my Kronos more now but I wrote so much on the Triton. As long as I live it will be in my arsenal.
I’ve owned alesis korg Roland ensoniq and Yamaha. When it comes to sound library I feel korg (and oddly enough ensoniq) was one step ahead of the others.

imitione in a fit of letting things go I gave away my esq1. I hadn’t been using it and it had some malfunctions that I didn’t know how to fix. I would have to hard initialize it almost pretty much every time I turned it on. And sometimes the sequencer would go awry. Oddly enough I could live with those two issues. It was the third problem that made me stop using it. If you were playing notes it would at random drop the 7th or 8th key struck. Having said all of that. The sound library and those additional cartridges were killer. And we used to jam guitar and drums to the sequencer. So much fun.
Yesir. That ASR is still one of my favorites.
Ensoniq was also largely part of E-MU as the two companies merged that was bought out by Creative Labs in the early 90s. There was a lot of cross over between EMU and Ensoniq products. EMU was mostly well known for their sampling hardware and Proteus Romplers.
Let me add..for electronic drum sounds my friends and I would always end up using old Yamaha stuff. The dtx was awesome. And we goofed some of their cheap keyboard drum machines and ended up digging them

Had the Triton Extreme for 6 yrs, I should have never gotten rid of it. Maybe someday I'll buy an used one, but the latest purchases are setting me back.
i've had a triton and a wavestation for 20 years and i think the triton is much better at pads than the wavestation . the wavestation is a better for 'Synth' sounds. my triton is still my main sound engine. love it.

I had the Trinity, the one before the Triton. I got it in 1997 & used it until 2018. Everything still worked, although, at the end, I was only using it as a controller for software synths. Great keyboard!
Had my Trinity since December 1997. Almost 23 years later and it still works like brand new. I never stopped using it. Favorite synth next to 01/w and m1

Currently, my Korg collection consists of 10 synths and I love my Triton 88 ProX. Next to my m50 88, it’s my go-to workstation. I find new ways to develop sounds every time I use it. Sure it has some limitations but for the price you can pick one up these days, worth every cent.
One of the few romplers that has its own character. Dated? Maybe, but very nice. Use its sounds in a new way, stick it in a track with old school analog and/or super modern sounds and create your own thing. Great music is still to be made with the Triton
Funny how those who call X 'dated' are the same who use 808 samples (or even the real thing), lust for vintage guitars, pay hillarious prices for vintage synths, and have their drives full of plugins emulating old analogue gear ;)
@@DarkSideofSynth They'd probably say that all of those are "timeless." I agree that dismissing this keyboard because the sounds are "dated" is a mistake, but I also understand where those other folks are coming from.
Funk Machine The Triton sounds actually complement analog very nicely without overpowering a mix.

Super present. I like it 👌👍But next start with Korg Triton LE preload PCG/COMBI floppy disc for Korg Triton Classic. There is much better and very interesting pad sounds than in factory sounds from Korg Triton Classic.
I wanted to "upgrade" my Triton LE for a Krome EX. Besides the acoustic pianos and the neat color touch screen, there was too little benefit for me. Actually the keybed and playing feel is a huge step downwards for me. No; I´ll keep the LE since I don´t will get the money it SHOULD be worth, when I´m selling it. What was a great sound 20 years ago still sounds great today in my opinion.
My Korg set-up is an 88 key Trinity Pro 3x and an 88 key Kronos 2 along with the Korg software bundle, which includes the Triton. The pads are great! For complimentary sounds, I use an Integra 7 and a Fantom 7. Although I have a Yamaha PSR 4600 I bought in 1992, I really want to finish my collection of romplers with a Montage, but firs I’m getting a 4K Samsung QLED for my family.

I think the Triton is amazing! I have a Triton Pro X and I really don't play it enough because I'm usually playing my Kronos. I really need to play it more.

Imho when composing a song... It's much more important the magic you have to involve the listener. You may have it or not. Whatever soundstyle u may use. So the korg triton is still dope. Put soul and magic into your song and you'll capture the audience.
