This makes me see how damn far carnivores modding has come. Eight years ago the best we have were reskin mods, now we have full blown total conversion mods, complete with pack hunting, aquatic animals, variations and so much more. For a community driven evolution, this is the best I’ve seen for any game!
Yeah I don’t blame the old modders for reskinned most of the time it’s due to lack of knowledge on how to do bigger things so we gotta make due with what we have
Yay, mods! I've waited long for this, but it was totally worth it. I hope you've had a great time on your vacation. This was a very thorough and informative video and I enjoyed it greatly. The only thing I can think of that might need a little tweaking in future reviews is to hear more of your angle. i.e. more of your opinions on certain aspects of the mod, your analysis, theories and so forth. You did that, but very little of it compared to just giving us the information and I found myself wanting more. I guess, more like in your previous videos about the official games. Your narration in this video was superb. When you described the maps it felt at times like an episode of Walking With Dinosaurs! About the frozen Charonosaurus- that's pretty much what happens when you assign an animal to an AI that doesn't exist in the source code. When I was a wee lad I remember trying to add more ambients to Carnivores Ice Age and finding out the map was littered with frozen dinosaurs. I hope you'll come around to covering Reloaded, Triassic and Middle Islands before too long. Last Dynasty also looks promising so keep an eye out for that too!

Ha! I'm the creator of this mod. I put a lot of work into it so it's awesome to see you make a video about it. About a Beta 2 version of the mod: I've done a lot of the work for it, but I just haven't packed it into a release yet. Some of the things I've done include: added 2-3 more maps, fixed the transparency issues on the dinosaurs, removed the pump-action shotgun and the sniper pistol, added a full-auto MP5 and a bolt-action sniper rifle, and tweaked stats and prices of dinosaurs and weapons. They're all good changes I think. I showed some of this stuff in the most recent video on my channel. But thanks again for making this video. This has made my day!

He was using direct 3D. I think Desperation comes with an older version of Rexhunter99's patch from before he added the 10th AI. Easy to fix though. Just port over a newer version of Rexhunter99's patch.

I've been playing through the JP Hunter trilogy and am having a blast! :D Not everything is pre-recorded, just Desperation, but my computer usually can't run Carnivores on 3DFX, just D3D (and barely that xD). Wait Irritator!!!? When i saw the black spinosaurus i was thinking to myeself: imagine if thats Irritator. I was excited when i first saw the dinosaur list. Irritator is my favorite dinosaur which is why i really loved that it was in the mod

At the end of the video there was a Pterosaur sound. Is that an edited sound or was that the way it is on your computer. The reason I am asking is because I had a friend years ago who I loaded Carnivores 2 onto their computer, and the pterosaurs had a lower pitch/tone in their sounds. That's the only time I ever heard that I think.
I believe that sound is straight from the vanilla release, unedited. The pterosaurs have a few different pitch variants in their cries, and I believe that's just the lowest one.
Yes! You should be able to open each pterosaur's CAR file in the CAR editor and listen to the sounds. If you don't hear the specific one, it may be an ambient sound plugged into the maps themselves, in which case, I have no idea how to access them.
Jack DvR The MP5 is awesome! I think my favorite new weapon is the sniper rifle (even though I really liked that scoped pistol), but my favorite part about the update is the custom bullet icons. It's the little things in life XD

Okay, right click on the mod's .exe (the icon, or what you click on to try and run it) and go to "Properties." Go to the compatibility tab, and set to Windows '98 or something similar.
someone should make a mod with mulitplayer that would be cool to make the hole hunting thing better for the player, and give the game more fans because the people over at the carnivores saga are the people who could do that. and one of the biggest carnivores fan glichhunter09
Rexhunter99 did have some code made but it's been lost so he'd have to completely redo it. Right now though, he's too busy with other aspects of Carnivores and personal issues.
Although I like the mod's concept, I wouldn't call it part of the official Carnivores lore, because all of the dinosaurs in it are reskins, and the Weapons are so different. Some of the maps, like Delphaeus Ruin, feel tacky and really not very unique. This is not meant to be an insult to the mod's creator, this mod just doesn't feel like part of the actual Carnivores Lore. Which Kind've reminds me of Carnivores Genesis.

I know the creator is waiting on some programming edits to the game's source code so he can add more animals, but he needs someone else to do that, so it's just a matter of waiting on everyone else's schedule. :/

the menu music is so unnatural in the old version was so chilling and unnatural it gave me the chills. i was very glad to exit the menu asap.

You probably have a beta of this game, since when I play it, herbivores will kill you (the first three and charona) and charona moves.
