I’ve been canvassing twice a week (Sat & Sun) in Charlotte since late June. I’ve added a weekday canvass starting this week. We’re flipping this state or at least I’m going to collapse trying!! 💪🏻 I’m glad your family is safe. One of my dear friends lives in Ashville and her area was hard hit. They did get water damage, but she’s safe, thank goodness, and just got power back yesterday. It’s so stressful. I think we aren’t anywhere close to understanding the devastation in the area yet.

On camera, that Sigma skin tint is one of the prettiest complexion products I’ve seen on you. Going to check that out! Their eyeshadow primer is really good
My mother-in-law is outside of Asheville and was without power for a week. They were dipping water out of the flood for their toilet. We didn't hear from them for four days. What a mess. I'm glad your parents were okay.
What a calamity! I too am just turning on the lights post whirlwind of grief and caring for a sick pet. I feel a bit guilty feeling so ready to get on with my life but I also feel unburdened and ready to walk forward. Thoughts are with your family in WNC ❤️🩹

US Citizens: Please, register to vote if you’re not already registered (and if you’re eligible, obviously). If you want to live in a country that aligns it’s policies with the perspectives of its people, please go out and vote. Politicians do not listen to the concerns and opinions of young people, even though they are the largest overall eligible voting population and they’re the people who will inherit our country, because they usually don’t turn out to vote in large numbers. Please register to vote. Please vote in whatever way is easiest for you. But please do your research and vote. It’s not difficult. It doesn’t have to take very long. I have voted early and by mail for every single election since I became eligible to vote. It takes maybe an hour to do my research, fill out my ballot, and drop it in the mail.
I think the reason a lot of younger people aren't voting in large numbers, particularly at the national level, is because they see it as ineffective. Politicians from both major parties are bought and paid for by corporations and lobby groups who are effectively telling them what to do when they're supposed to work for us. I also think there's a bit of a hyperfixation on national level elections, and little to no emphasis on ones at the state and local levels (which, IMO, are even more important because a person is more likely to feel the impact of laws and such at those levels). With that said, one of the referenda on Maine's ballot (that's where I live) could eventually have an impact at the national level: Question 1 has to do with limiting the amount of money Super PACs can spend independently on promoting or defeating an electoral candidate to $5000. (More Perfect Union has a really good video on this if you want to learn more.)
@@mizshellytee I don’t disagree with you, and I completely understand why people would become discouraged, but in our system there is only one way to meaningfully effect change and that is to vote. If you throw up your hands and give up, your voice will not be heard and if everyone does that things will only get more skewed in the direction opposite of what you want. And local elections, state elections, ballot initiatives, it’s all important. The president only has so much power. A good chunk of the reason we are in the mess we’re in in the US is that most people don’t pay attention to congress and blame everything on the president. The president cannot pass laws. Cannot appropriate funds. Those major functions are not within the presidents power at all, but because they get none of the blame for the state of things, certain members of congress feel free to behave reprehensibly. Local elections and state elections (city council members, city engineers, state legislators, etc) are absolutely critical. I work in an industry that works closely with local governments and you can tell which are functioning well and which are not. Which have well qualified mayors and council members and etc and which have people who have no idea what they’re doing. Do your research and vote. That is how we can make change. It will take a long time and some serious persistence but change is possible.
This video was a conflict for me because i wanted so bad to hear about the black/grey lip oil, my weakness…. but i am one of the viewers who try to skip over the motherhood topics and avoid some of your videos altogether (i deeply appreciated the TWs for that). but from what i did gather, i’m glad your family is safe :)

So glad Felix is feeling better. Just a heads up that my daughter also had croup around that same age and now whenever she gets a normal head cold her cough takes on that croup cough sound. I don’t know if that will always be the case but she is almost 6 so feels like it.

I’m so intimidated by glue on nails. I have been shaping and painting my own nails for years and am generally happy with my routine but… do I need to try these editorial nails? Am I coordinated enough to get them on appropriately?!
I came to say this same thing! I cannot paint my nails, certainly not shape them. Press-ons have been such an easy game changer. The only thing is that I have to carry nail glue with me everywhere because they sometimes come loose before I’m ready to take the full set off.
I was very intimidated by press on nails and they’re so much easier than expected. Really the only thing you can mess up, is ripping them off prematurely.

Croup is SO scary! My first baby got the croup the day I went into labor with my second baby. The timing of viruses- ugh

Oof, croup on a vacation is super stressful. We spent an entire vacation in the children's ICU when my son has croup at 9 months old.

As someone who is generally SHIT at nail art and even simple nail polish... press on nails r very easy to use, especially if you use sticky tabs
