Hannah! Would you consider doing a video about what you and Joe consider to be your best home ware purchases? I’m a twenty-something that’s about to move and probably move several times more, and I want to apply the same quality-over-quantity mentality to new home purchases. I’m having a hard time considering forever or long-term pieces over what would be ideal for my living situation right now. AND I want to know what beautiful pieces are hiding in your home! ❤
4th-ing this! I'm preparing for a move too. I'd love any of Hannah's thoughts on homewares, moving, packing, etc to get me thinking in this big transitional period.
Would also love to see Hannah’s take on this! Would also like to recommend Caroline Winkler as an excellent home decor TH-camr who like Hannah values enduring pieces made with smart decision and sharing the vulnerability about the process (if you don’t follow already).
I’m always so grateful that Hannah isn’t afraid to disagree with the masses on certain products. Lisa Eldridge for example. I don’t think I’ve come across a channel that doesn’t rave about every product and it can make you feel like you’re the problem if you can’t get a product to work for you that everyone else loves!
Loved the thoughtfulness in explaining WHY you like a product, using more artistic language so that for us viewers can have a more tactile understanding of a product for those with no Sephora or Ulta nearby. It’s always so helpful and even though we have different tastes in some products your descriptions always help guide against the little shopping demon.
Hannah, by the way, you write process content (showing how to make a change by example, & walking through the process & decision making, not just making your choices the template) so well!! Weird thought, but if you ever need to earn $ in a low-key way (ie not on camera, no marketing, etc), for a personal break or whatever, you actually could be the finest technical writer around. I’d honestly love to see you write a book on lifestyle & the decisions one makes, but also you could probably churn out high paid editing/content very fast. It’s a fairly rare skill; I write very well in my work life but explaining a process, no thank you! lol it’s very very hard and pays glamorously if you’re good.
She has worked as a bid writer for eco/climate based clients :) I don't remember the details, or they might have been kept private, but it was touched on in the video about meeting someone who hates shopping!
It's always so striking to me how we all experience products differently-and I also think it's beautiful. For example, that Roen liquid lip balm is one of my all-time favorite lip products (although not that color - my understanding is that Nikki developed the first three but not the shimmer ones) and I like it precisely *because* I find it deeply nourishing. I have really dry skin-as an example, while I adore the colors of Merit, I cannot use either their lipsticks OR their lip oils because I find both of them to be too drying-and so I often am only able to use liquid lip balms on a routine basis. In fact, one of the reasons I love the Make Beauty lip serums balms is because of how similar I found them to be to Roen! Anyway, that's all to say, I love how you explain what does and doesn't work for you and why it might work for someone else!
I think another underestimated factor in how we experience products is also the climate in which we live. I live in a desert where the humidity is usually below 20%, so many products that are moisturizing in a more humid environment just don't cut it here. I find that my skin and the products I use behave very differently when I travel.
It’s funny how quickly priorities change. I’ve been pretty maximalist with my beauty routine but now need (& want!) to move my elderly momma in, and the bathroom can no longer be an homage to eyeshadow & serum! I’m re-orienting my head to a minimalist approach, it’s probably a sign of weakness, but if I have to make a big change that might be uncomfortable, if there’s a reasonable trend to grab onto, I’ll just reorient and make my “sacrifice” into a lifestyle choice. So wheeeee here we go! I just ordered some chic new arthritis gloves & im in my powder & face palette era, I feel a bit like a ghost of an elderly flapper lol…I was wearing a bucket hat this summer but it looks like a cloche in pics & it’s cool but freaky, with the gloves and hat, I look like I’m a glitch until you get up close lol
Hi Hannah. I’m curious to hear in what ways you are taking care of yourself in this season of transition and change - settling into your new home, parenting a baby, finding new workflow systems like these two bags. You mentioned you aren’t doing the most with skincare, which in the past seemed so suportive. What new delights, practices, or rhythms have you found? Anything unexpected?
I did a mighty purge of samples, mistakes, and whatnot. I am shipping it off to our satellite office near Mount Katahdin where there is no Sephora or Ulta. I packed in some scarves and a few pieces of jewelry. I send it for the staff, our group home residents, our foster care providers, and really anyone who wants stuff. So satisfying.
After long consideration and review watching I picked up the fara homidi face compact and I have never been happier with a product! On my combo skin it looks and wears like a second skin, and having the shine balm as a primer on my dry spots banishes any texture that might appear, love love love ❤
Would it be weird to request another “what’s cheering me up right now” video? we got up early to watch the movie “perfect days” which made my heart burst and I would love to keep the train rolling this week haha
You inspired me to do an organization and declutter of my own recently! I also did a bit of a clothing reckoning. I started a new job last month and took the new start as an opportunity to evaluate some of the lesser worn pieces in my wardrobe - some got more wear because of the new job, some became even less worn and it was interesting to see why (fit, colour, style that was no longer in line with what I liked wearing…). I’m really leaning into wearing a colour palette that feels more me both in makeup and in clothing - it still includes lots of bright colours for sure (I could never be just a neutral wearer), but very specific tones or colour families.
I'm going to adopt this concept and get to work. I can resonate with one group of "I love it and need to use it" and the other group in "purgatory" where I need to either start using it or declutter it. I've had a "use it up" group but I think your concept works better for my brain.
I’m big on balms, as I hate stickiness with a lip product. I found one that’s a clear but is absolutely nourishing and stays for a long time. It is the Dionis goat milk beauty balm. It’s amazing!
I am so glad you mentioned Rhode. I was a bit judgy at first glance but after your review I got the peptide balm and the pocket blush in toasted teddy. the peptide balm in espresso was alright but the blush is instantly my current favorite blush 10/10. I finished my two eyebrow pencils (benefit which was lovely and elf which I did not love), I feel I am ready to finally try kimiko!
also fyi if it's still floating around to try out, the Undone product is called a "palette" because each one of those stripes in the product is a different level of pigmentation, so the stripe on the top is the most sheer one!
I want the Refy concealer, and Gucci gloss soooo badly 😩🙏🏼. I watched a Heather Austin video a couple months ago, she was just doing an ordinary makeup review. She used the Refy concealer, and I told her that was the absolute best concealer I had ever seen her use. It blurred her skin, and made her entire makeup application look flawless. I have wanted it ever since I watched that video. Now, seeing you rave about it, makes me want it even more! I gotta have it!
I love the way you explain why a product does not work for you because it presents reasons that may work for someone else. I am trying to not spend so much on products and this helps a great deal.
Hi Hannah, do you have thoughts about RMS Beauty Tinted Daily Lip Balm? I find it sturdy and nourishing and would love to see your thoughts within the context of looking for the perfect effortless tinted balm. 👍❤️
Hannah you MUST try the Honest Beauty crème blush, specifically in Plum Berry (I believe they call it Plum Drop now.) It has that lipsticky feel but it blends out beautifully on my pale desaturated (and I believe olive) skin. It’s got that mix of brown and purple and ruddiness to make it perfect. I would love to hear your thoughts on it, it’s my favorite cream blush. Also have you tried the Nabla Jelly lipstick for your tinted balm/gloss stick video? I saw it the other day and thought of you, especially the shade Nocturna, which is just an evocative shade name anyway. And I can’t remember if you tried or mentioned the Clinique Almost Lipstick in those videos as well. I love that series, I think you’re doing a great job and it’s fun to watch you experiment!
Ignore if you knew or mention it later in the video, but I think the undone beauty has 3 different pigment levels in the product? Like I think the bottom stripe is sheer middle stripe is medium opacity too is full?
The Gucci gloss is one of my favorite things. I know it’s kind of ridiculous to buy an expensive little pot of clear gloss, but the texture, staying power, and the attractive packaging make it worth it for me
Yeah, my opinion on spending a little (or sometimes a lot) on something, even when there's plenty of cheaper options available is that I would rather spend money on something I REALLY love and will consistently grab versus other things. Rather than something more affordable that's fine and gets the job done but I don't feel the same desire to use it. In which case it's less likely to get much use and I'll find myself wishing I had something else. In some cases going out to buy other still affordable products trying to find one I really like. Which can end up making it not so affordable in the long run lol. Some things are just worth the initial splurge.
@@janebarnette6548 mostly as a highlighter on my cheekbones. It also works as a clear lip gloss and an eye gloss, either on the whole lid or on the inner corners as a highlight. Of course it’s not a crease proof eye product
I was also incredibly disappointed by the Lisa Eldridge balms. As you opined, they weren't at all satisfying to apply, they didn't create any sort of even layer of color, they melted everywhere as they wore, and- incredibly- somehow made my lips feel drier after they wore away. I bought three of them, and I absolutely feel I wasted my money.
Nice video as always. Got to say I'm most impressed you're still doing makeup when you have to reach into a bag to get it! Even when I travel I get things out of that bag, into a shelf or drawer! It's just too much work otherwise.
If you are a medium-darker brown skinned person, the About Face cream blush in the PURPLE color (Score) is the perfect pink on the skin. Fenty had one and discontinued it…but a makeup artist turned me on to purple blushes as a noticeable pink on my skin. And I love the formula!
Video idea: film yourself watching & reacting to of your older videos (maybe one from the first year of your channel), and reflect on how you have changed but also the ways you are the same. Look at things like your lifestyle/living situation, your spending habits, product type and brand preferences, makeup style choices, and also the makeup trends. (You could also look at clothing and home goods.)
It always amazes me how different our needs are because to me a waxy lip balm sounds horrible 😂 You might really like the Catrice power full 5 tinted balm its pretty pigmented but is quite thick and waxy feeling!
Mob beauty has a lipstick shade that’s described as a “wet concrete.” It looks grey, and grungy and very interesting. Can you please review it? There is also a shade that’s called a mauve griege. The brand looks very unique please try some things for us.
Hi fellow viewers and commenters! I need color match feedback for the refund concealer! I’m about 1 shade less fair than Hannah, something in the genre of “fair neutral saturated peach.” I end up wearing very similar shades to Kackie, currently Lisa Eldridge and Ciele tints in 02, Jones road WTF in the second lightest shade (described as fair neutral.). Make concealer in 01 but 02 works as well. What Refy shade would I wear for both under the eyes and all over the face? Thanks for any tidbits of data, there are several shades that might work by the description and swatches but my sephoras don’t have them in person.
I would take a look at maybe 3? I’m quite light and somehow chose 6 and it doesn’t look like the best match swatched on my hand but blended out I was surprised how seamless it looks with my skin. I’ve even noticeably tanned since buying it and something about the formula makes it pretty adaptable. I use just the one colour both under eye and a few spots on my face. The product is lovely, I hate the smell, but it doesn’t stick around
If you still have it, I’d love to see you compare the Refy sepia lipgloss to the brown Rhode treatment and the Ami Cole when you put together your review!
I'm really not a Lisa Eldridge fan. I played with them at liberty in London. Felt and looked drugstore and some items looking very tired. I'm interested in rhode though, something I didn't think I would be 🤔 Edit nothing wrong with drugstore but LE should reflect that price point imo
I have a weird technical issue that I’m almost embarrassed to bring up, but I’m watching on an iPad at the TH-cam links are too close to the “more” button so every time I try to click for more information my sausage fingers take me to another video. Possibly just a me problem. Otherwise, I love these videos and that tabletop is so beautiful 🤩
i still don't get the rhode lip peptide hype. I have to constantly reapply it. The ole henrikson version is incredible though. I only have to apply it twice a day
oh my God, I have been so upset with necessaire discontinuing the sandalwood deodorant. Eucalyptus is probably one of my least favorite scents so I’ll be checking out salt air. ❤️👍🏻
to be fair - the armani "ganache" type product you used to love was literally called "melting color balm" so maybe the narrative that you don't like a cheek balm is all in your head! Oh, and the miracle balm! we love a cheek balm! 😂
I loved the feel of the Bobbi brown face base and how it made my make up look but I just couldn’t get past the smell- it was so strong, it ruined the product for me!
I wish I could watch these videos but the products banging around make me want to scream. Please consider editing out all the noise for your headphone wearers
Hannah, this is truly an honest curiosity question and not snark. Since you often compare blushes to Glossier Cloud Paint, do you wear Cloud Paint yourself? I don’t think I’ve seen you apply it in any videos in recent memory. Are there no colors you like, or are you just tired of it? Just wondering . . . . 🤎🤎🤎
She might answer this herself, especially the part about the shades she likes/doesnt but I recall Hannah decluttered some cloud paint a while back but she used it for a long time so was very familiar with the formula
I am currently hiding from my own party due to overwhelm so a nice sedated overhead video is just what I needed to build up my courage to go back out
Reading this made me think how we, as an audience, must make up a type, of some sort :)
I know just how you feel.

12:50 That's the type of blush that would look so intimidating and intense in the store I would never buy it

Rhode is so good 😂 it almost makes me angry
I loved the feel of the Bobbi brown face base and how it made my make up look but I just couldn’t get past the smell- it was so strong, it ruined the product for me!
Gotta be honest, I'm in favor of a weird teflon lip jelly sometimes
The beautiful color of that Rhode blush might be enough to make me endure that ridiculously excessive packaging. 😜 Such a waste of plastic and space!
For anyone boycotting, make sure not to get from the rhode brand!

I had a little case of blue balls when you said we were getting into the meat of the video.
I wish I could watch these videos but the products banging around make me want to scream. Please consider editing out all the noise for your headphone wearers
It’s so interesting! Those noises make me feel so relaxed and at ease!
