Watkins would offer more up front, properly pressing from the front and hounding the defenders, running in behind and generally terrorising the oppositions backline…..Kane doesn’t do any of that…. We all know attacks start with pressing the opposition and winning the back in the right positions. I guess Southgate wants his team to sit back and be defensive, hence why Kane’s role in the England side goes unscrutinised….

We've had a run of playing teams we should be comfortably beating, and even Denmark & Switzerland who are decent teams we should still be beating given how much quality we have in our squad but we've been so poor. Against Slovakia we didn't have a shot on target until the 95th minute...thats pathetic! These pundits keep saying "we did the job" but I don't see it that way at all, we've been getting away with one in every game

I wish everyone would stop saying Saka's goal was England's only shot on target. Bellingham had a shot at the keeper, Mainoo had two shots on target that were blocked and Declan Rice's shot that was pushed round the post by the keeper was on target. Switzerland only had a few shots on target and they were mostly passbacks to the keeper.

After the first four games,which i sat through with a mixture of embarrassment and despair,todays game was a vast improvement. Was it us at our best ? This team is winning and in the last 4 due to the dogged individual performances and the tenacity of several world-class players: Bellingham, Foden, Saka, Kane, Rice, and Stones. They're all playing badly as a team but still getting the results. Not too dissimilar to previous winners like, Portugal, Greece, Denmark, and Italy.
