Fantastic running. I yoyo'ed with you and Maria for most of the first 45 miles (that's me in the pink skirt and yellow top) I completely crashed and burned at Botolphs, made it to Clayton Windmills and decided to call it a day. I've done the race twice before in good style so didn't want a 35 mile deathmarch to the finish! Gutted to see that Maria stopped at Botolphs, she was looking so strong in the first half, but the weather conditions were brutal. I've got to get some heat training done before NDW100 I think!
Hi - Just seen this comment. It was such an hot day. I used 3 water bottles between water stations and still ran out each time. I have signed up for 2022. Fingers crossed
@@bensmith6633 - I did the SDW 50 in October last year. Moved from April due to co-vid. There is a video of it on here. Lots of rain, so hopefully it will be lots nicer in April
@@PaulCoatesTrailRunning Thanks. Watched your SDW50 video too - it looked tough and ‘damp’! It was great to see the parts of the route I am not familiar with.🤞for mild weather in April! 😃
There was a lot of walking during the night. My feet were so sore and lots of chaffage from sweating during the day. Just a case of trying to keep moving forward
@@PaulCoatesTrailRunning Mate, you are out their competing and challenging yourself. It's awesome to watch. And you're beating all those guys sitting on the couch! Hope the feet have come right. I look forward to following your next adventures. Cheers! Phil from Sydney.
Brilliant account of your first 100 miles! Well done! So chirpy and positive right to the end! My video shows a very different experience! 😂. I've subscribed. Keep it up!
You needed to learn where the hidden water taps are along the SDW, some were in-between the aid stations. Great running though, I was a spectator and that was hard enough in the heat. Re smog, it's the countryside, we don't have smog just fog 🤣
Absolutely epic stuff Paul!!! Well done mate! You are a inspiration! 👏🏻 top job from Mr P getting out and helping you out too. In those dark times you need friends like those. I hope you're recovering well buddy! 😎🤘🏻
Mr P is such a great friend and inspiration. The water melon and cold drinks at 35 miles and callipo he found were perfect. He want even crewing me, but had a spare 30 mins before he paced another runner, so just turned up. What a brilliant guy

You’re always smiling, even at the end of 100 miles 😂 Congratulations on your first 100 miler 🎉
Thank you. You have to smile when you have made it to the end of an100 and there’s only 400m to go. Plus centurion do make it enjoyable
What a hero. Well done Paul! 😱😱😱
Thank you. Not sure hero, “more mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the mid day sun”
You had so much positivity along the way. Great video to show the journey through the event. Well done! 👍🏻🏃♂️
I think the sun helped to a point, then it got a tad too warm

Incredible Paul. Congratulations on your first 100 miler. You captured it perfectly. Rest those poor feet x
It was just so mad drinking 3 bottles between each water station and still running out. Never done that before
I was cheering on some runner friends at Botolphs. I saw you go past. Well done. Only one of my friends finished. Excellent. Baking hot day.
It was a lot warmer than I expected. I was running pretty slow, but my focus was on finishing and whatever time it was, would be fine
Congratulations - Awesome achievement Paul 👏👏💪💪
Running around the race track at Eastbourne felt so awesome
👍 Hopefully I will be running around there in April! SDW50 will be my first 50 miler….

Fantastic effort. Some of those hills are bad enough on a cool day, let alone a toasty one.
They just kept coming as well
Top man Paul, congratulations!
The recovery is taking its time. Maybe have a week off running
Utter madness. Truly inspiring Paul. Thanks for taking us along with you!
