" When we heal the body, it's always an inward effort, paying attention to our self. When we heal the soul, turning inward doesn't work. The medicine of the soul lies in turning outward to other people. "
I hadn’t seen this video until today and that line stuck out to me more than any other. Profound. I’m so grateful for the inspiration of the Holy Ghost, my heart is full.
One of the most realistic Mormon messages I’ve ever seen. As a husband with a wife who has many health issues (not the same but similar situation Kathy lives with) this shares a very different perspective on what it’s like to help someone constantly with even basic things we take for granted. Some days it’s easy. Other days, it’s a test of my patience and faith. It’s made my marriage difficult at times. We also have 4 kids under 8, so often times my days feel like I’ve taken care of everyone else’s needs and emotions and responsibilities at home, but my needs and emotions are never met or addressed. But like it was said, serving my wife has made me realize that I needed healing as well. Because my mind and heart was not in the right place. One of my favourite Mormon messages.
'I will do it myself,.... every night if I have to,..." the righteous examples of others that shed light on the path that we try to follow,... thank you.
Why hasnt this been hitting millions of views yet? This is so powerful. Healing the soul is not turning inward, the real power comes from serving those outward from ourselves.
This story has shown to me what the Lord means when He says, when you are in the service of others you are in the service of your GOD. He is the Good Shepherd, we are the sheep. The Shepherd watches over His sheep, we share in each others burdens.
Not just us! There are people out there of many religions that take time to serve, and atheists do, too! Not all, but for those who do, their help is appreciated. Whatever your faith, we need you!
Holy smokes. You men are fantastic. I'm going to be better about my attitude with service. What a fantastic church we have. The rest of the world is missing out not only on the gospel we share, but on the community we offer each other.
Praise God I'm in a wheelchair chair myself and people help me that a great thing they're doing for her Jesus is always the only answer In God we trust God blesses us all!!!!!!!!!!!
This video is done beautifully, not only in cinematic terms but in spiritual terms. I felt lifted myself by this story. I felt goosebumps and a warm and comforting feeling inside. I have so much to learn but most importantly, I have so much to do to serve the Lord and His children. Thank you to all these people for sharing this experience. It has inspired me to be better.
What a great message. I love this video. I've seen many comments saying how wonderful this video is but you all say yes to this and to the words of god yes with your lips, but do you do it? You say yes but do you take action? Saying yes or agreeing won't do the trick. "Action" just go and DO IT! Watching this won't compleat you or what they teach you in this video is has done nothing for you if you don't apply it in action in your life.
This is such a beautiful story. I cried watching it... my mom has ALS ... she lives in Spain, her husband does everything for her, literally everything. Love really is the strongest power in the universe.
You know there is a comment I have heard a lot that may not pertain exactly to this but it does have something to do with service. "The priesthood is the perfect plan of service." And as I think about this it makes me think about all the opportunities I have as an Aaronic priesthood holder. Blessing and administering the sacrament, home teaching, and the one I hold I hold near dear to my heart, sharing the gospel. May we all be willing to serve those around us, because as we know "Serving others serves God." (Mosiah 2:17)
It is February 8, 2016..we are watching this video to teach us the meaning of Service during our Family Home Evening. I know that my family are uplifted and will always have a passion for serving not just members of the Church but others all around us...thank you Mormon Channel...greetings from the Lord's vineyard in beautiful Australia....
This is wonderful, I have never seen the amount of compassion for our fellow man (or woman) that I have seen in this wonderful Church. I am so blessed to be a new member.
What a great message! Makes me proud of profession. Makes me not get angry when I think about how much I help my sister. The blessings of serving others are so great and worth it.
This touched me! I cried when I first watched it. This is such a soul searching thought. Sometimes service is not convenient and I will try to go out of my way to love and serve God's children. #mormon #service #love
Beautiful & so very touching!!! Came close to tears as the emotions hit while watching it!!! I had 3 cousins, only 1 left alive in this mortal world now, who each had M.S.! It does get to a point when they can't do even the simplest things, like get themselves into bed on their own, & they need help! There are many other circumstances where our sisters or brethren may be in need of help, & we as children of God our Heavenly Father need to remember this & do our best to serve our sisters & brothers! Thank you for posting this video!!!
@The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 💖 Bless all y💖ur willing hearts as Thee Savior would do as you gave your hearts to Thee Heavenly Will in Thee Gospel of JESUS CHRIST 💖 I sadly see as I wondered to myself "How is Kathy"... 💖 I see now... Thank y💖u all for blessing Kathy for all you did for her 💖
Everyone, no matter their ability or needs, has infinite worth! Learning to love others through service brings joy to our life. We are transformed as we do what the Savior would do! Beautiful!
Being in the service of your fellow man your in the service of the lord and shall be great blessing that will come back to 70 x 70 and many blessings through out your life.
When I'm facing trouble, I pray for the Lord to put opportunities to serve in my path. I pray to know who to serve and how. I'm always blessed and amazed by how quickly the Lord reveals his will. We are His hands. ❤️
I had the privilege to work with HOSPICE as a CNA and I enjoyed every moment of helping each person as they gradually passed. I also at my sophomore year in high school help take care of my grandfather while he was passing from cancer and helped with my grandmother because she had had many strokes. I gave up a full year of sports and helped to take care of my grandparents. It was such a privilege to help as in the future I'd learn that HOSPICE had worked with my grandfather. The RN who helped him remembered me when I later applied to HOSPICE 10 years later. She hired me because she saw how I handled my grandparents. Blessings in disguise. =) Service is a wonderful tool to help others as well as ourselves.
My dad had muscular dystrophy, and this video brought back many memories of how he was helped by countless people in the neighborhood. I'm so grateful to those people who helped my dad live a quality life at home. We can all do our part to help those in need.
I Really love this video. It reminds me of a Hymn that I am very fond of called "Lord, I Would Follow Thee". The whole song is relevant but the first verse is kind of like this-Savior may I learn to love thee/Walk the path that thou hast shown/Pause to help and lift another/Finding strength beyond my own/Savior may I learn to love thee/Lord I would follow thee-I bet that that one guy who offered to do it by himself would have found the strength that was beyond his own in order to do it every night. This song and this video are so in sync with each other that it can't be coincidence. The book of John in the bible as well works well with this. I think this video was well done and meaningful. So to those who made it-I say thank you. And to the spirit that lead me to feel the truth in this-I give you the biggest thank you. (I seriously cannot watch things like this without getting teary. A son that I recommend you find and listen to on LDS.org is called Drop by Drop. I love it and it is very good)
+Elias Lowe i agree. I wish they would've played that song during the video. It would've added so much to it. although, if they did i would be really crying, more than i already was!
I saw this years ago and it was touching because my mom was in a wheelchair and needed to be helped in and out of bed herself and I wasn’t really strong enough to do it myself which really limited what she could do even though she was never left alone. Now it’s been nearly two years since she passed and the thought of being able to try to help lift her again brings me to tears. I can relate to the people who felt it was a burden because it is hard taking care of people, but it’s such a blessing, too, and when the opportunity to serve is gone it’s missed.
This last spring I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, things like this touch me deeply. It's odd to think how my point of view has changed so drastically. In the months leading to the diagnosis I have matured in ways so unexpected. I am blessed to be at full function, no one could tell that I have this unpredictable chronic disease. Although I have this, I am of greater understanding of the Love of Christ, and my God, the joy of the gospel cannot be undone!
The message of this movie is so touching but as I think about it all of us can be doing something to help others. I found that's really important for me to stop and look for opportunities to change the lives of people around because almost every time I do I notice an opportunity I missed.
Genuine care and selfless actions speak louder then the loudest most spiritual sermon. Refreshment to a distressed soul, and people can tell when your motives are sincere. I just want to help you, these are the real hero's God's hands answering our prayers.
This is really neat. I actually live in the ward where this takes place, so I know most of the men in this video. My dad has even helped get Kathy into bed numerous times. These are all great men. And it's a great message.
+bravesfan8456, can you tell me where is story takes place and Kathy's last name? Of the fist and last names of any of the men involved? CBS News On the Road may want to tell their story but I need more info to give to them. Thanks!
It's easy to serve someone if the come to you an ask. You know what you need to do and how to do it. It's hard to serve someone who needs service, but doesn't ask. If we could tap into that kind of service, we could make a huge difference in humanity.
Very inspiring. Not always easy but worth it. Its indeed a blessing serving others. I wish there were others who are willing to serve others willingly and joyfully...
Bless those men, I pray that if I am ever called upon for such service That I will be charitable enough ,strong enough ,and have faith enough to be able to complete it and follow through.
Just an update on my sister Kathy, the woman in the video. After more than 10 years of serving and being served by others, Kathy passed away AUGUST 27, 2019 of MS. Obituary link: mysis.stevechipman.com Keep on serving, that's really what life is all about!
Steve, thanks for sharing this update and your encouragement to continue serving like the Savior. We hope you and your family feel love and hope as you remember your Kathy and grieve her passing. Take care! comeuntochrist.org
Thanks for letting us know. Who know how many lives she touched because of her affliction? What an amazing earthly mission she had. Best wishes to your family.
Very neat. I really like this video, it reminds me of other situations that surrounded me growing up. The gospel is a miracle and helping others is the best way to follow give back to the Savior.
Love thy neighbor as we love our selves God is so good thank God for the people just don't think about them selves help all our brothers and sisters God he always directs our path Jesus is always the only answer do unto others as I would have them do unto u

Kathy passed away the night before last 8/26/2019. What a wonderful person and great friend she was to me.. She will be missed.. Love you Kathy. ❤️😢
💖
Thank you for this comment.
such a wonderful message.
How weird for the helpers to not have that responsibility anymore
This is beautiful! I'm so glad I decided to return to church.
Welcome back!
We love you :)
Yay!!! Welcome back! ❤❤❤
I'm so glad you did too!
Love💖

Hahaha. Awesome message. Loved it:)
I can't stop laughing! Well done.

i just discovered this video. Thank you. I need to change.
Why hasnt this been hitting millions of views yet? This is so powerful. Healing the soul is not turning inward, the real power comes from serving those outward from ourselves.
It's so powerful, you only have to see it once!
people will find their own way to be here according to their similar type of situation.
This is probably one of the most powerful messages I've heard and felt. Makes me want to be a better person.

Every one who participated continues to heal with their love for Christ and His love for them. I have watched this 100x.
GOD BLESS THEM!!!
Makes me cry every time - such a beautiful example of true Christ like love
Thank-you for sharing this story. It's got me thinking how I can change and look outside myself.
Great video.
Kathy is a lovely lady & well done to all the men who help look after her. x
Beautiful story. Inspiring, uplifting, true. Thank you for producing this.
This is real service. I don't know if I'm capable of this kind of real service. I hope some day I'll mature enough to be in this category.

Such a nice video about service. All those men who helped Kathy will be blessed... I pray for them and their families for their kindness.
How true is it that we must look to help other people to help ourselves. Wow so inspiring and a good reminder to serve others.
What a beautiful story and it perfectly teaches why service is so important!
God bless these brethren ❤
Beautiful spiritual message. Lifting someone up is more important than looking down on them.
How is it even possible that this inspiring video, as of today, has 36 thumbs-down?
Beautiful,inspiring!
Thanks for posting this.
It's an good reminder when we serve.
We almost all need more of this kind of message...and this kind of experience.
Wow. So inspirational!!
Love, love, love this, I can't watch this video enough!!
I know it is really a happy and good feeling deep inside if we forget ourself for a small moment to serve others.
Watched this in priesthood meeting today. Had to hold the tears back.
Gentlemen becoming Angels!

Service has such a lifting and healing influence...beautiful planning on the part of our Heavenly Father. Thanks for this inspiring message!
She lifted him more than he lifted her. That's how this life works. It's amazing!
Very inspiring. Not always easy but worth it. Its indeed a blessing serving others. I wish there were others who are willing to serve others willingly and joyfully...
BLESS THE LORD!!!
Bless those men, I pray that if I am ever called upon for such service That I will be charitable enough ,strong enough ,and have faith enough to be able to complete it and follow through.
Love this whole thing!
Finally...a video sharing the real side of service. Thank you.
Amen. A beautiful video. A blessing to Kathy and the brothers.

Beautiful message and beautifully done! The force is strong with this one.
One of the best, most uplifting videos I've watched in a really long time. Makes me want to dedicate my life more to serving others!

So Powerful. Thank you for sharing.
Tears from My eyes....and this touch My soul, tanks....life is supose To be good.. ;-)
such a beautiful story. it reminds me of the last few years of my parents life. they needed alot of help. it could have been overwhelming especially since i had 3 little ones and a husband to care for at the same time. what made it such a beautiful time and easier time wise was incorporating my parents into our schedule. take your family life together. do all of the obligations of everyday life and do them while together helping your parents. it made it a peaceful, wonderful time doing it this way. i hope this will help someone who finds themself in the same situation.
man i love this video 👍
Irritant - servitude - burnout - turning to our Savior who overcame all for our sakes, for my sake, helps me to overcome my weaknesses and have the strength to serve.
This is one of the best ministering and powerful story for me to value the substance of service and healing 😌
thats a pure love of christ...
I love this story!!!!!
Love this so much!! 💜💜💜 'You' CAN make a difference. I wish we could all flip the switch to look for the blessing of service, vs the burden. Life changing.
Beautiful!
This was exactly what I needed. .beautiful just beautiful
Love this video and it’s message. Brings a tear to my eyes as they talk about the circle of service. Just a wonderful message.
so inspiring.
