How do you take up golf? what is a good golf score? do you have to play 18 holes of golf? all these questions have so many different answers. in todays video we take a beginner golfer, high handicap golfer out on his first ever round of golf. WHAT DO WE THINK HE SHOT? what did you shoot on your first ever round? how can high handicap golfers lower their handicap? how do you get a golf handicap? what should you do in your first ever round of golf? lets do it... and lets do it now!

Played my first 18 yesterday after 7 weeks of going to the range every Sunday. Was a shock to the system hitting off real tees and off grass! Beat myself up when I scored 133 but after reading all these comments I feel much more confident in myself. Already booking in for my next one!
I've always found it hard to play less than 18 - I feel incomplete.
I'm no expert, but to me it seems like Foxy has got a lot of potential, his swing is looking really good for a beginner golfer, much better than mine did when I started. In regards to how many holes of golf we should play, I'd give anything just to be able to play 1 hole at the moment 😁.
I’ve been hitting the range and practicing for a year.... I played my first hole and first round today (12/5/20).... 127 strokes later I feel so much more prepared for my second round.
I finally got my score down however after 2 years in the high 90's, I am down to mid to high 70's for high school golf and I am playing varsity as a freshman, because of the lessons that I have learned on your channel, so thank you for everything.
Agree with you foxy lad, smashing drivers and going 100% at every shot can be knackering over a full 18! Good work boys, hope you’re both keeping safe.
I think he did what all should do, get lessons, and really learn to play. Great testament to your work with him. Regardless of the score.
My first round was last year. Had never swung a club in my life. Went straight out and played 18 holes at NAS Jacksonville whilst away with work. Managed to get 2 pars on 2 par 3's. Caught the bug since then.
Shot 162 loved every stroke. I was pretty excited...remember a lot of worm burners and topping it...Lakewood CC in California...1984
Took 20 strokes off 2nd round..low 90s now.. play to have fun...after 16 it's about enough...cause the last are uphill.
I played my 1st 9 holes trying out for are school golf team since they didnt have enough members, shot 50 over 9 holes. Then got to play in are provincial school tournament and i shot 91. I still remember the 1st tee when i smashed a drive with my old school clubs down the middle of the fairway. The kids i was playing with right away said i must be in the wrong group, and wanted to know what my handicap was. They soon learned i had no clue of any golf rules at all.

My first 18 was my mate Lacey’s stag do around 20 miles from Stratford upon Avon. I had no idea the custom fitted Mizuno blades borrowed from another friend would be so punishing/rewarding and then came the 600 plus yard par 5............. I tackled that SOB with much beer and hilarity. An addiction was born that weekend!
Crookhill Park around 1975 with school friends aged around 15. We used to catch the Doncaster bus from Maltby, get off at Edlington then walk half a mile to the course, with bags. Crookhill Park was the nearest municipal course we could get to.

My first round was in the late 80’s at Royal Birkdale and I had to play right handed and didn’t have much of a clue about the game or at the time the course I was playing but after that round I wanted to get some left handed clubs because I was hooked. A couple of years after that I got some left handed irons and spent around 6 months going to the range before venturing out onto the course

Certainly do remember my first round of 18 holes. Summit Hills in Clarks Summit, PA. Think I shot about a 120 but the highlight came on a short downhill par 3. It may have been about 100 yards or so. I topped it but it rolled in down the hill and it actually hit the flag stick. Almost a hole in one on my first round. Needless to say, 3 putted for bogey but oh well. 16 years later... Extremely addicted and in love with this game.
First round of 18 was at Cinder Ridge in Illinois. My friends bailed on my and I ended up walking in the woods for 20 minutes to find golf balls because most of mine landed in the pond lol
was looking forward to this vlog watching quite a few holes but the wizzing camera work and two holes watching taking rocks out the ground gone are the times for a few holes vlog watching a couple of golfers playing the game from tee to green

First ever round. Seaford head Golf course with my best mate from my old school. He was a single digit handicapper and was so keen to beat me that he didn't give me one tip all the way round! I think I shot about 125ish. Put me off so much I didn't play again until I emigrated to NZ and started again at 38. I could have got hooked earlier but...
Wow....first 18. Had to have been Stadium Golf Course in Schenectady, NY (USA). I likely played alone using my grandfather's (scratch golfer) old set of clubs. No idea what I shot. Very possibly I didn't even keep score. Hard to remember. Was over 40 years ago.
Played my first round today with my dad at Carluke in Scotland, shot 120 never even stepped foot on a course was amazing and definitely caught the bug
First 18 holes was at heal Park golf club Newton abbot, in Devon x2 9 holes par 36 shot 94.... First every handicap 12 last handicap 5.... Roll on when this lockdown is over.
I like both 9 and 18. I usually don't aim to improve my handicap on 9 holes, but more trying to take the drills and thoughts I've been working on in my practice into a game situation. Then in the weekend I go out for 18 and try to shoot good scores! I'm trying to have 1 focused practice day, 1 round of 9 holes and 1 round of 18 holes a week .. Works good for me!

Mine was at Municipal golf course with my brother and two of his friends. I had never hit a golf club before. I went simply because my brother needed a sober driver and he said he would pay. First tee I hit driver this was 1993. My first drive was over 290 yds down the middle. One shot and I was addicted to golf. Fourth hole was a short par 4 254 yds. I hit 3 iron on the green off the tee. I still boggled the hole but I was hooked. I truly love the game. I am 55 now still playing even after five back surgeries, three ankle surgeries and knee surgery. I don’t drive it 300 anymore but I still love the game. Play three or four times a week.

First 18 was at Stevenage golf course with my dad. He wisely told me not to take a score :)
I think mine was Dunnerholme near Askam in Cumbria. I hadn’t had any lessons so my game was poor. On the other hand that meant there was no pressure so we had a good laugh too.
3 years ago at the grand age of 40.Played at the manor at driglington and shot a cricket score
i was in the army and a mate I was with used to be a decent junior golfer. went to a local Pay and play and shot 128. the score did not count as I birdied a par 3, this has kept me returning for the next 18 years :)
First 18 on my own was Valley View golf course, 2 friends form work....one got me into golf. Shot 116. First 18 played with same 2 people and one other, but we played a scramble on Eaglewood golf course shot 96 between us. ( we both shoot mid/low 50’s on 9). Both courses in Utah. Both times we used buggies. I am coming up on 50 years old and out of shape, so walking not gonna happen, especially not 18 lol
My first 18 rounds that I can remember was with my uncle and cousin that was 6 years ago. I’m actually going again this weekend, I can’t wait!

Two courses by me have mini loops. One is a 5 hole loop the other is a 3 hole loop. Also it's nice if they are real busy you can start on hole 4 (3 hole loop) or hole 6 (5 hole loop). So there are 3 possible starting tee boxes.
I do the 5 hole loop if I'm real short on time and don't want to go to hit at the range.
I do play a lot of 9’s but do enjoy an 18 hole for progress, 19.6 handicap so my aim is get down to 18, for me golf is enjoyable either way but even more so if you get a good 18 hole score to lower the HCP
I know it’s hard to believe but my first ever 18holes of golf was November 2018 I borrowed some club, I shot 78 gross then the committee asked me to join the club and be a member. 1 month later I got a first ever official handicap of 8 then shot 2 under gross in a comp then 72 gross and now currently playing off 6.4
My first round was 140ish. A year of practice now and my best is 93. 47 over 9 holes, in still very happy with that

My course is a 9 hole course, so I play just 9 most of the time.. its a nice walk and break.

My first 18 was about a few weeks before everything shut down. Wound up with a group who all wanted to play off the blue tees. I might have shot high, but I kept up pace-wise! Small victory!
After not playing for 23 year break. I'm counting last year as my first 18 hole at Duddingston in Edinburgh with two friends from the pub quiz team, I scored into the 100's and have been hooked ever since.
Great content as always, my first round was at Middlesbrough municipal And shot 152.
Pretty sure it was middlesbrough municipal haven't a clue of the score probably 130
First 18, Willow Springs in Fort Worth TX. 118 was my score.

Don't remember my 1st 18, but it was in Indianapolis somewhere and I'm sure I shot a ton. Would have been nice to have that calibre of clubs to use. I had a starter set of bladed Northwestern irons with a wood wood that had a plastic insert in the face.
I have always thought golf should be played as 6+6+6 instead of 9+9. I understand making tee times would be a little difficult with three 6 hole loops but I think 12 holes is perfect for a lot of people. So many people I know say they get bored after 13 or 14 holes and I think this would help a lot.
My first 18 was at New Bedford country club in 2010 in Massachusetts

My first ever round was at the Golden Pheasant golf course Medford New Jersey U.S.A. June 1969 I was 16 years old with my 14 year old neighbor. I shot 150 and the most memorable thing was I hit out of the trees and had one come straight back at me just barely missed me.
Always amazing videos. My first 18 hole game was Kennedy golf course in Aurora Colorado. Personally I enjoy playing a full 18., I feel I can learn more playing a full game.

I (pretty much) always play 9 holes. I've only been playing 18 months or so and I think in all that time I've done 18 holes twice - and both times that was twice round a 9 hole course. And 'yes' I felt tired after it. I have kinda done a few more 18's where I've gone out on my own to practice and played 2 balls and best ball. So you do hit as many shots as you would on an 18 but you do not walk quite as far (depends on how wayward the 'not best' shot was when you have to collect it).
My first 18 holes I think I scored in the 120 range and it wasn't on near the course Foxy was playing. 30 years later I'm playing the same course and scoring 130...
Fisrt 18 holes was in Feb this year with my two cousins who helped me a lot! My score was 148 😔 Gotta keep up the practice 💪
James first time I played 18 holes was at Cave Creek golf course in Phoenix Arizona. With my best friend Jack who got me into Golf. I think I had a score of 130.
My first round was in 2015, at the Fish River Sun International course in South Africa, it was with my dad and my uncle and it was with my first proper set of clubs.
First round in 1999, shot 124. Ugh. But still had so much fun. Was taking it much too serious, trying to hit the ball way too hard
Foxy at the end was like ‘d**k’ after that one handed shot.

I don't altogether feel like I've played golf if I don't get a full 18 holes in...and I enjoy music on the golf cart even though I don't do it myself. (FWIW, presently here in Virginia, USA we can't enter nine hole scores into the computer for handicap purposes, though it seems as if this hasn't been the case in the past. Wouldn't necessarily be fair if my HCP was based...say...on 18 hole scores I shot last year but this year I'm playing better but only playing nine holes at a time and not entering any scores.)
The 1st time I ever was on the golf course was to caddy for Darrell a best friend. At Neillsville Country Club back in 1983. The first time I actually played golf was with Alex which we learned to play and hit balls at the range together for almost 2 years. Round of golf took almost 7 hours to finish, we had to find balls to finish the round. At Marshfield country club.

Late watch, better late than never! Played 18 holes the verry first time I ever played when I was 20. Only had an idea what to do from watching golf on tv. I'm considerably better now! I play 9 holes for my league, prefer playing 18 when out with friends, however. Especially at a course I've never played before!
Well what did Foxy score ? My first game ever was at Hart Common near Bolton scored 114 at age 57 three years ago

My first round was in 2002. I was just getting back to doing anything after a bad Motorcycle accident in SoCal in late 1999. My first round was in Virginia at my buddy's home course.
I love playing a full 18, but 9 is great before or after work. At my club i can play 9 by myself or with buddy in 90 minutes and can see the 2nd green from my office.

My first 18 I can’t remember but my first as a member was 113. Not my worst score lol
First ever attempt at golf was 40 years ago when I was 17, with my old man and a friend of his, very first strike I was hooked, even though it went 60 yards dead right and OOB, score for that historic round, 153, little better these days.

Wow.....first full 18? I have been around golf courses since I was 10 years old. I grew up down the street from a private course. I caddied there in my teens, but never played a full 18. I'm pretty sure my first full 18 was at a local course where we had a membership. Paxon Hollow G.C. in Springfield, PA. Goat hill of a course. But it got a lot of local play. And no, I don't have any desire to go back there and play. Even though it is still there, and I don't live that far away from it. Maybe a 45 minute drive. I currently work part time at a local club that is a whole lot nicer. Downingtown C. C. in Downingtown, PA. And yes.....FREE golf. No better way to play.

Congrats on 100k, Played a course in Wisconsin, us for my first 18. Shot a 108, but got me super addicted to this game. 18 just feels like I left something out there. 21 holes would be ideal, nine is not even near enough for me.
