I heard an interview of Mike Shinoda about Lost and they discarded the song for the Meteora LP because they thought it was too similar to Numb... man, it's hard to believe that Linkin Park's "not good enough songs" would easily be the number 1 hit of 99,99% of rock bands
I don't know how it's similar to numb but Mike is a musician, he probably knows better 😅. I'd say, for me it's similar to breaking the habit on emotional layer.
It actually feels super unique to me. Like Meteora style vocals, but the production makes me think of A Thousand Suns or Living Things. A more modern take on classic Nu Metal. Just shows how ahead of their time LP was I guess.
@@MandatoryFruit i have the same impression, i think that maybe they used the original vocals and instruments recording but the final production and details were introduced recently...

2:16 The way Chester delivers the lines "but im tired, i will always be afraid" especially the "but im tired" part breaks my heart. It literally sounds like he's crying his voice breaks a little. What makes it more heartbreaking is how relatable it is on a personal level. Take care of yourselves everyone! I will too!
I thought the same thing, it honestly sounds like he was about to breakdown and cry as he sang, it really is a tough listen, but it's also nice to hear his voice in something new, it's like this bittersweet feeling, and it really does tug at your emotions and heart strings, Chester was my inspiration to sing as well and it's so hard to listen to this, you can hear the pain in his voice.
This feels like a strange deja-vu, a beautiful nostalgia we can experience together. Thank you Chris for bringing this up and for the true admiration of the stars we have lost...
I think I know a way to put how we're all feeling. Hearing this song nearly 6 years after Chester passed... it's like when you lose someone you love and you would do anything just to hear their voice one more time.. this is that. This is that one last call to that person. You don't get to say what you want to say but you get to hear them (him) one last time and it hits deep.
I cried, it’s tough to listen to Not because it’s not beautiful, but because Chester once again hits us from the grave with the feels. Thank you to Linkin Park for this amazing gift, RIP CHESTER ❤
My best friend committed suicide December 8th 2022. He was a talanted singer, and my very first guitar student. Now im lost in this memories and this song is just remembered me listening my friends old song. Its heartbreaking to hear singer you liked and used to imitate sing again even though, he is no longer with you.
In addition to having an exceptional voice, Chester also lived his songs in his thoughts, and his singing is filled with strong emotions. No matter how well someone imitates his voice technically, that emotion is missing.
It just hurts me so much that he took his own life. I am actually fine with never hearing any new material from Chester and just want him to live. Yes he is/was the voice of a generation but at the end of the day he was also just a regular guy on this earth who was hurt so much that he didn’t want to live and that just breaks me. No person should be in such a dark place
I'm sure he also didn't enjoy much being treated like someone special, always put on a pedestal which is ofc understandable but also unavoidable, I mean fans love him, they will always praise him but I'm sure he just wanted to be treated like a normal person too. Since we know how horribly he felt about himself, being treated like a semi-god had to feel unnatural as well.
@-nevermind- idk many of his fans turned on him and said that their band didn't make good music anymore. They weren't happy with the new material. I think he thought about this sort of criticism more than about being praised
Is this what having a time machine feels like? As soon as I listened to it I wanted to scream it all. And I will. Linkin Park has been such a huge influence on the way so many of us sing ❤️
As a lot of commenters have said, this feels supernatural and different to hearing any other deceased artist. His death hit me like a truck and I still bawl listening to LP. But this was like he just reached up and touched us again. I miss him so badly. #stillhurts #ripchester
When I first heard Chester scream in the chorus I immediately wanted to tear up. It was like one of your loved ones who passed away, came back to life just for one moment, to speak to you. I really just wanted to reach out and hug him. We will always love you Chester
Such a beautiful song. It's crazy that a song that was meant to come out so long ago sounds so fresh and new. Could you imagine if Chester was still around they did an album like this?

They recorded 20 songs for the album and the album was only going to be 12 songs long and they had to figure out what told the best story from start to finish and this song sounded too much like "numb" which they liked better so numb made the album instead of this. Mike talked about it in a new interview about the 20th anniversary edition of "Meteora" which contains all of the songs left over that didn't make it to the record
It's ironic in a way that the song is called lost because for 20 years its been a hidden demo, almost a lost song and it's just unfortunate he isn't here to see it released and unfortunately as we now listen to it we can't help but remember how he passed so the line "I'll never be alright" really is so emotional

Every vocalist has their own sound. No two people sound exactly alike. But Chester was one of a kind. Just in a different stratosphere compared to every other vocalist I've heard. Granted I'm not a big music junkie, and I'm absolutely biased. But I think it's undeniable how special this man was.

Its crazy how we see the influence of Chester on today's music. The last BMTH album is a great exemple of that influence both instrumentally and vocally.
It’s both nostalgically refreshing and emotionally powerful at the same time that was worth the wait and “feels.” In my opinion, one of the things Chester should be remember is he was the Ian Gillian of his generation not in terms of sounds, but in terms of trajectory. With Deep Purple and Linkin Park, neither were original members, but both of them took it to another level and they were briefly vocalists of other bands that everybody knows as well with Black Sabbath and Stone Temple Pilots respectively. I woke up to this yesterday, my first cd was hybrid theory. I had to visit meteora and hybrid theory again start to finish. Linkin Park will always be a time travel for me, reminds me of better times in my life.
I never noticed it until you said it... different voices tones layering and communicating with each other together with fabulous instrumentals...that is LP
Your reaction is dead on!!!
Every one of his songs hits me so deeply. Absolute perfection. They were everything! I miss them so so so much
That’s exactly how I react every time I hear his voice, signing. It just soothes my soul. It’s like no other. Never will be another Chester or Linkin Park. He is so sorely missed💔😩
you, me and more 100mi people cried for our messiah Chester
Listened to the song 3 times inside of 15 minutes...damn I wish I had gotten to see them live. They were about to perform near me when he took his life...broke my heart.
sa voix et ses paroles, tout a un impact sur moi !
Yay!!! Chris Liepe!! 💙💙
Linkin Park never fails us to amaze us.
Chris can't even pause after the first chorus.
It's just an outstanding LP song. It really is. I can't stop listening to it!
The way you gave your comments was great. Thank you. Miss LP
His reaction is perfect.
The songs starts, and within 5 seconds you feel at home. It feels like every linkin park song makes you feel. Like everything is okay.. everything is or will be good.
But as soon as you hear Chesters voice.. it feels like all the air gets sucked out of you and reality kicks you in the face..
totally the same i would say about him ....damn a perfect voice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Chester's VOCALS are so AMAZING & UNIQUE..
the world has lost a multi-talented musician
RIP C.B
It’s crazy too because if you told me they wrote this a couple days ago I would believe you, crazy how new this sounds with today’s music
Fantastic mix and production! Holds up as timeless
Yesss!!! This song speaks on so many levels! I am so happy that at last a reviewer/creator has mentioned the symbolism of finding the lost song in memories - the music speaking as it is lost!!!
I've watched 3 reactions to this song in a row, and I've cried every time! Hearing these lyrics and knowing the outcome of his illness.. Just breaks my heart!
The incredible connection between Chester & Mike is undeniable! They melded together so perfectly. I Don’t know another band that Ive ever heard that meshed so well❤️❤️❤️
I realy love this song. The calm guitar the angel Chester and demon Chester. So sick how he can sing so lightly rock absolutely love it❤️ wonder how he does it
This song made me bawl my eyes out. It was like deja vu and nostalgia and heartbreak and joy, etc. pretty much every emotion you can have in one
Don't Rest in Peace #Chester. Rock there too. We will always miss you legend.
Crying for an hour never felt so good and hurt at the time
I saw it yesterday:so happy and sad at the same time.
2:00 that look says it all..
Hearing this song for the first time was the pure definition of time travel.
I went straight back to my childhood having Linkin Park blasting to get through the days.
It was very surreal and i honestly cant say i ever experienced it before. And not sure i ever will again.
Rest in peace Chester. I miss you.
