One of the main reasons why I bought MK1 was to practice Kenshi. But started off with raiden, kitana, quan chi, and now just learning Kenshi. Thank you for this video.
Frost pairs fantastically with Kenshi. If you get a hit confirm on your opponent with something like 1,4, you can easily cancel into Frost's freeze and get a combo going with Sento before the freeze is over. You can make Sento attack before Kenshi recovers from switching stance, so you can pop up the opponent with something like Sento's 2 and then start a full combo with Kenshi after the freeze and Sento stance.
This character is extremely difficult to play online. I’ve been trainihn mode but online is a different thing. Tons of scrubs but he’s on another level. Which takes time.
Your right that he’s complex but honestly I’ve been training mostly on online since yeah u technically train combos all day. U still need to learn how to play on the fly and how to counter other characters. 17hrs in and still learning him
@@lone4596 Best thing to do is watch the pros like SonicFox and build up an arsenal of combos by mimicking their movements. It's much easier to grasp how to keep Sento and Kenshi working together when you have a few combos locked in with their synergy
Advice... as I also did with Shang Tsung, learn 1 stance at a time... when you fully understand it, go to the next one, at the end mix them both. Trying to get everything at once will be only a mess, and you won't be able to fully play any of his styles. For starting he normally with a good kameo is enough.
@@w1zard398 Exactly as minseconds explained. I've been using Kenshi without Sento out, simply the core kit of him and it is pretty solid TBH, First I am getting the grap of it, on Neutral, offensive, damaginc combos, safe strings, Assist options and mainly Ex moves to extend combos alone. It's been quite interesting, feels as the variation I used on MKX, so I am fine with it and pairing it with SubZero, so later I will start using Sento but mainly after specific combos setups with SubZero, and instantly go back to Base Kenshi. When I got both things "right" I will start using Sento in any moment I can see fit.
Kenshi is definitely one of the fiddlier characters to get to grips with, most notably in the Sento stance. That damn ghost keeps screwing with my juggles. Anyway, quick note, I'm sure you know - in normal stance, Kenshi's d,f 1 move runs through projectiles if you hold it. Very easy and satisfying to do, actually, allowing you to charge straight at zoners.
Thanks for the guide! First MK game ever so I already feel behind compared to other players, and although Kenshi is hard, I do love that his standard stance combos are relatively easy
I found you can cancel a lot of his normal strings into Sento stance with 1,4,1 being my preferred way of doing so. From there you can hold the Kameo button to make Sento not attack while you do and hold block to make Sento attack and not you. By doing this you can have Sento attack while your attacks are recovering thus keeping you safe at all times or you can do this to create giant combo's or go crazy with the mix ups. This Kenshi is more of a greatest hits version. Normal stance is all the zoning and keep away stuff that made him dangerous in the past and Sento stance is his deadly combo game.
I first played MK 9, and first fell in love with Kenshi and Noon Saibot MK11, I was sad that Kenshi ain't in the game. And I'm happy to be back in MK1 and relearning Kenshi, and just realizing i started out with one of the difficult characters? He's fun to use, not gonna lie. Reminds me so much of Vergil from DMC (most especially in DMC5 with his whole Doppelganger thing). He's fun. I'm good with it. More hours of labbing for me, i guess 😅
I think I'm bound to gravitate towards the hardest characters in mk games, mk11 i tried learning erron black early on and when i got mk1 i tried learning kenshi. Eventually I'll probably understand this game and hopefully kenshi as well
I just bought MK1 and finished the story, and wanted to main Kenshi, thank you for this! My one question is what does ex mean in the combos? example: F2, 2, exDB2, J, 1, 2, 2?

Been trying to play with him and man when he is in the Santo stance without his spirit it's so hard for me, I am so lost and just wish I was in the other stance.
do the four attacks still amount to - high punch, low punch, high kick, low kick? Haven't played MK since the arcade days - we'd use the back - forward, but not the numbers for attacks.
Definitely my main. Highest combo ive gotten is 414 damage but damn does it take some exectution. I feel like i could just spam on baraka and their dead but kenshi is rough
Interesting? Cuz these guides have hundreds of thousands of views and thousands of comments and your the first person to say that. Sorry, I’ll try to keep it slow in the future
I have trouble jumping to fallow up a launch attack with Kenshi. I perform the launch but when I jump I jump too late or I jump over the opponent as they hit the ground. I can't seem to get anything going in the air with many characters in this game. Sometimes my character just jumps strait up instead of at an angle. I don't know what the deal is. I even purchased the Victrix Pro Controller for PS5 because the D-Pad on the PS5 controller sucks, but I still have the same issue with jumping after launch atttacks.
Ya imma be real, his jumps into air felt a bit more weird compared to other characters and their timing. He’s rough but he’s worth the patience and work!
I feel like this kenshi is a patient character to learn like Jin in Tekken but kenshi was my favorite in mkx but I think 🤔 they dial him down in this one ☝🏾
I can’t because everyone plays on different consoles. So I can’t say “triangle” cuz then all the Xbox players won’t have any idea what I’m Saying. So using the universal language is better for everyone

played kenshi all night and almost ripped my hair out, he’s so fun but so hard, it really just takes some learning to start to link his moves together

The thing about him everyone is going to struggle with is delaying kenshi/sento combos so they are not overlapping.

Better yet, cancel the normal into Frost's freeze, Sento stance, and then get a full combo out of it.
i did not know about the kameo part..
Putting the moves on the screen as you are talking about them, would make your videos so much easier to learn from!
Good idea for future videos! Thanks!
Im pretty sure someone else in the comments has mention this but kenshi's df1 deflects projectiles as you rush in. So it's safe against zoners.
