i like to believe that liu kang set up the timeline so that johnny and kenshi had what kung lao and liu kang could have had in the previous timeline(s)
It's great to appreciate what Johnny was doing for Kenshi but let's not forget that Kenshi saved their butts like 4-5 times and saved Johnny's life. Johnny was incredibly grateful and that's where the giving of the blindfold and Sento stemmed from. Kenshi more than earned it and Johnny knew it, he even mentioned it several times. The dynamic between these two was done so well you really feel it
This is by far the best version of Johnny Cage. He wasn't that insufferable as his past re-makes and became great but with Kenshi's help. And only Johnny can become best friends with someone who tried to rob him as a first impression.
MKX and 11 had a good Johnny too, he got older and matured a lot. Even in 9 he wasn't too bad, he was cocky and annoying but when they told him to kill Baraka he refused, showing that deep down he's a good person. But I do agree that MK1 had the best first impression Johnny, him and Kenshi's friendship is goated.

I also like how Liu Kang doesn't just ignore that and just apologizes for misspeaking. That feels like a real response someone would say. 'Oh, sorry, brain fart!'
This is probably the best Johnny Cage iteration to date, instead of be the Kenny of the series in Midway era or be an Asshole who was forced to mature off screen by fatherhood, now is much clear that always has that heroic side on him and only was in a low point of his life and only needed of guidance and true partnership
I like the idea of Johnny, Syoth, Ashrah, Smoke, Kung Lou, and Kenshi hanging out at Johnnys house drinking beers, eating pizza, watching Predator, Back to the Future, and It’s a Wonderful Life together.
I like to think Liu Kang made Johnny a lot nicer in this timeline.....but still JUUUST pompous enough that him getting his ass kicked is still comic relief
Johnny was kinda right that to be successful he had to project it. Public image is big in Hollywood, if you're seen cutting back a significant amount then you're basically declaring "I'm struggling"
I'm a huge Kenshi fan, I got my hands on a Sento replica a few years back and it is proudly displayed on my wall. I was delighted to see him in a large role in this series. Love your content and your enthusiasm for the series, your channel really helped bring me from a casual fan of MK into a die hard. Keep up the good work.
I love the adventure group that is Johnny, Kenshi, Kung-Lao, Reptile, Ashrah and Baraka, and I kinda wish we had more of the six killing off the forces of evil together.
Even with his sight ripped away from him, Kenshi's will to fight and his warrior's heart remains intact, to me Sento is not his true power, it is how he fights but his will to protect the people he loves even when certain he will loose is what drives him forward.
I like how this Johnny is essentially the same as the others, but slightly less corny, is more kind and shows he is reliable early on. Sure, his start with Kenshi was not the best, but not only does he warm up to him, after seeing Kenshi suffer for a mistake he made, he pulled all the stops to help him (giving him medicine, carrying him, subtly describing the surroundings, giving him back Sento). That relationship is better than what we got with Johnny and Sonya in earlier games.
I like that at his base/starting, Johnny is a bit arrogant, but he is deservedly arrogant given how good he is. Flawed. Yet he is also knowledgable. He knows the things he keeps and when it becomes clear that thigns have gone off the deep end? He tries to keep what framing he knows, but he isn't the eternal skeptic. Most of all when the chips are down. He steps up.
Id like to think before sonya there was chris then when chris left kenshi came into his life id say it was a BI moment in this johnnys timelime a love at first fight sorta bromance and helping eachother despite their flaws bromance to others but i see is a strong loving relationship among the hidden in tje game
That showed her true nature and why all those who defended her are simps simply since she's a girl. She was trying to control him, and she couldn't, so she left and now he's going to be raking in the billions rather than the millions he did before and she's going to be left in the dust.
I feel kenshi being blind is almost like a paradox that it will always happen as he was blind in two timelines and now in a third, and all of his doubles seen in the final battle even his Rain hybrid was blind. Not even restarting time can fix it.
Imagine if you could use the failures of test of strength tests as a truer test of strength/skill by quick combo deflections that start new matches if you fail to win at the match it ends in an automatic extreme brutality, which is think other players would just love. Either way.
