- Bought on the 20th July 2020 and finished on 17th July 2021. Lots of hard work but really enjoyed the whole project. A real sense of achievement at the end. So happy with it.

Good job! Really impressive. These light trucks or 'kei-tora (軽トラ)' as they are fondly called here in Japan, are a really good size for going places that you wouldn't want to go with a caravan. Almost every farmer owns one here as well as fishermen and other small businesses. They were designed to be able to handle the very narrow roads and sharp corners that separate the paddy fields and the tiny twisty roads in the coastal towns and villages. In recent years, there has been a small boom amongst young people who have been converting the pickup bed into campers and giving them a styish off-road look. They were almost only available in white, but now come in some really nice colours. The Bedford Rascal is really a Suzuki Carry (there is also a Super Carry with a slightly larger cab). If you Google 'Kei-tora customise' or copy and paste the Japanese equivalent of '軽トラ カスタマイズ', you should get some interesting photos. If you are worried about what the Japanese will bring up before Googling, use Google translate to confirm. I assure you that nothing untoward will appear - at least it shouldn't!!

Found this film by accident. Pleased to watch all the work you did on the vehicle. It''s interesting that you spent a lot of time on the appearance of the van but I am sure you made sure the engine and transmission was okay before you spent the time fixing the van up. Certainly, the van looked really good and you were right about those new wheels, they do make the van kook well cared for. I would suggest if you using I to stay and holiday in you secure that back door and van doors more strongly as often they were easily entered.
An excellent job and well done for showing the main areas you tackled.

48:00 The way to put on decals and stripes ..... spray copiously with soapy water .... add the decal and slide it about util happy. Add more soapy water if drying out too fast. Once happy with positioning, squeegee out the soapy water and any air bubbles .... job done.

@@tkbikes1 you probably know this but make sure your wheel nuts are for alloy wheels and don't use the steel wheel ones. The wheels will fall off. Don't want you getting hurt 👍

I love this video! It reminds me of my first ever vehicle 'Roger' who was a red Hijet Daihatsu van that I used to go wild camping in everywhere. I lost him in a tragic crash and he had to be wrote off with driver wing damage, but I bet you could of fixed him. His engine was still excellent, I was so sad to lose him and still have dreams about my travels of over 20 years ago. I love your restoration, wish it was mine! I hope you have many happy times in her, lovely van! ❤👍 You are a true inspiration! 😁

My mate had a Bedford rascal 30+yrs ago used to do 90mph on the ice on the beach...
We went to London in it and swapped drivers whilst still driving... his didn't have a bulkhead in so i.jumped in the back and swapped seats at 70mph lol

There's an old fabricator saying we use here in the states " grinder and paint make you the welder you ain't" (possibly used elsewhere but I don't live elsewhere LOL)

Removing stickers / sign writing with no heat gun, Use Kettles of Hot water ( Not Boiling )
Peel off a Section at a time & Keep the Hot water running over it.

I have 3 later type susuksuki that I am makeing up campers out of multi seat with windows think they will make good stelf campers and very fast..
