I’m in a medical program and we don’t have much spare time to relax and destress but when I do I enjoy watching your videos. Such soothing narration too. Great content my friend
Oh I think I would have burst into tears if I had spoilt such a beautiful drawing lol I’m so glad you saved it and it really is stunning! I love watching your tutorials.
When I say masterfully done.....it is done by a Master.....excellent Smoothie......inspires us all to watch, hear and learn , and we are never to old for that .
Thank you Bob, very kind of you to say. we are never too old to learn new things, There are members on my patreon channel that are in there 80s and enjoying painting and drawing. it a wonderful hobby to take up at any age.
I knew it would be beautiful and I was right, super pleased it wasn’t wrecked and being able to watch you find your way round the problem was a valuable lesson in itself 👍
smoothie77 for all of us, it brings back memories of the sky in the Belgian canal scene and what the eraser on the Ticonderoga pencil did to the grid lines and hence the graphite powder lol but you found your way out of thatcas well
Beautiful painting! That was brilliant how got rid of those grid lines!! Had it been mine I may have given up on it. Lol. Thanks for the lesson...explore all options to repair it! Thanks!
Amazing! *-* I will have to practice a lot more to draw such amazing pictures. But I made some progress in the last year :D And you are one of the reasons for this progress :) Thank you It would be nice if you would show us some of your landscapes from your sketch books. It would help me a lot to get Inspiration
Hi, I'm a new sub. I've never seen a graphite drawing painted over with watercolour before. I use soft pastels. I would like to try out your method, clever.
Jon, great painting, love it! I do have a few questions for you: 1) If your goal is to have a finished painting, is it necessary to do that detailed of a drawing first? I can see it for the buildings, but for all the trees...For example, could you have just drawn a general outline of the trees and then painted them as you did? 2) If you are doing a watercolor painting over a graphite drawing (as you did here), do you do that using watercolor paper or use your normal D.R. smooth drawing paper? and lastly 3) Do you ever have the issue of the masking tape tearing your paper when you pull it off like that?
Great rescue Smoothie! I was ready to have a cry for you, but you found a work-around. Glad you carried on - beautiful scene. What are the names of your two friends you mentioned? I think one was Dave Usher, but couldn't catch the other name.
Oh no! I see what you mean now! In the end it came out oke but it is a real shame about those eraser lines..... Never mind, that also teaches us a lot and this realy is one stunning drawing Jon!!! ^.^ Well done!

Thank you Susan, that's very kind of you, much appreciated.

Where is this scene from? You said you edited it together on the computer? Weird because I have dreamed of this place several times.
Great rescue Smoothie! I was ready to have a cry for you, but you found a work-around. Glad you carried on - beautiful scene. What are the names of your two friends you mentioned? I think one was Dave Usher, but couldn't catch the other name.
