I’m naturally highly flexible, getting into cycling during past 6 months as a beginner. Never had a bike fit. Is there a way to leverage flexibility somehow to improve performance?

Amy, I've been watching your vids for a while and seeing the title of this video made me SO happy. I still can't believe you did PBP without a bike fit, and I wince every time I remember you crying while trying to finish. Hope you have many more miles in much more comfort now that you've got a relationship with your fitter.

Same!!! I used TH-cam and all kinds of research when I bought my bike to fit myself. 8 years later, I finally got a professional bike fit and I was wayyyyyyyyy off. I am so much faster and more comfortable now.

Well done Amy. I had my first bike fit recently at the age of 71 and could not believe the difference it’s made by moving my cleats, changing both the type of saddle and my saddle height. I no longer get numbness in my left hand or a nagging knee pain that I couldn’t get rid of. It’s like riding a different bike. Well worth it and I would recommend everyone having one.

Thanks Amy Cycling for introducing me to @UKBikeFit. I would not have known about them until I found his video and last weekend had a very similar bike fit and saddle map which lived up to expectations, Dan makes the process very collaborative and relaxed. I enjoy your videos and well done to you and Kyle for getting rewarded for your hard work by Pinarello. Lucky guys ! Keep up the great content.

See that made quite a difference to Amy. I know this can turn out a bit expensive, but what about bar widths, seat for and aft position, crank lengths, cleat position side to side hip width. I imagine the correct way to purchase a bike is to start with the correct size frame. Then build the bike with component suited to your personal body shape?

Grumpy Mule from Meltham Yorkshire. No one believes they need a fit and it's not cheap. Cyclefit are the kings of this imo but others are now coming along. Pressure mapping also useful. Bunion isn't caused by cycling. It's a skeletal issue

what a total waste of money and time bike fitters all use different methods go to another bike fitter and he will change all the changes that were just made someone with lots of money should go to 3 or 4 different bike fitters and video record the fittings and see all the bullshit, her position will change every time no doubt

    • @markrushton1516
      @markrushton1516 ปีที่แล้ว

Some use different methods or tech e.g. laser or sensors around the body e.g. Phil Burt but principles are the same. Benefit James, Cyclefit etc are on TH-cam. You pay your money etc but if it works it's worth it.

I was really not enjoying riding ..but after my bike fit .. now everything has changed .. so you will definitely see and feel the difference a proper bike fit does .. well done Dan .. great service offered and advice all the changes made total sense ..
A question Dan .. the bike sensor cover you used .. is it expensive? Can you purchase one and hook it up to computer at home ?
    From Australia 🇦🇺
Kyle .. Amy is right !! Slow down the car ..you can’t control pot holes 🕳️ in the road .. but you can control your speed over them .. 🫶♥️🍎

Does the pressure mapper not move on the saddle as you're getting yourself into position? Having to get one leg over from the side, it looks as though the precision of this instrument could be easily compromised. And that would result in the uneven pressure readings you were getting.
I'm not saying this is what is definitely happening, but I'd have thought (in my completely uneducated opinion of course) it would need to be more secure.

Great video and I look forward to how you get on in future rides. Please be sure to mention if the bike fit has made a difference to your comfort etc. One thing I did want to ask was......your flexibility is impressive especially the hands on the floor which you mentioned took you a year to achieve. Any chance you could do a quick video on what you did daily to achieve this?

    • @MarquitoRH

Focus on the seat pressure points and lowering saddle when you see pressure on the left side - very good. Left side pressure is nearly always due to saddle too high. Then continued focus on the saddle design is something I also agree with. Very impressed!

A text highlighted problems but every other video I have seen you do there has not been any issue.👍 I think your flexibility is key and perhaps a vid on that in future. Also I do think your bunion and kyles toe should feature more regularly from now on😂

Had one of these done about ten years ago cost a small fortune. I couldn’t ride in the position they put me in. It felt like my knees were in my chest as soon as I got outside I put my seat back up to the height it was before, total waste of money. My friend who I cycle with is a clinical lead pharmacist for the NHS and of his colleagues is a orthopaedic surgeon and he told me he gets paid less than these so called bike fitters. £200+ for a bike fit ? You must have more money than sense.

Well I’m not surprised. Imagine forking out for a bike, clothing, shoes and helmet, that can ONLY be used for one purpose and then being advised to cough up for a bike fit?!? Plus whilst the gear is tangible, a ‘bike fit’ is much more nebulous.

Bike fitters have usually no medical qualifications. Looking at many 'bike fits' it seems they all have their own 'methods' to kill a couple of hours and charge. Then, afterwards, the punter, full of adrenalin and hope will go away happy ... for a week, if they are lucky ... and start changing things again.

I don't like the look of this. There has been no mention of saddle tilt. The pressure reading from your old saddle was purely down to lack of saddle tilt. Women require a forward tilt of 2-3 degrees. Also, forward rotation of the handlebar is going to increase reach. Do you want this? Do you really want an aggressive riding position for endurance riding? All you had to do was drop your elbows to relax the shoulders. Finally, you will find the Flite saddle hard on long rides.
