I was a born and bred Seventh Day Adventist and I studied my way to grace and salvation in Christ ALONE.
    I’m in Complete total agreement.
What a mind set it is to have the mind of Jesus. The open objective mind to reason logically and spiritually and understand all these things. Proper right Interpretation is everything.
HALLELUJAH for this marvelous future and freedom in Christ. 🙌🏼🙌🏼

The Law that deals with Sin and Death is what JESUS has come to fulfill, The Temple has many Laws embedded on it! And JESUS pointed to HIS Disciples HE is The Temple, all its function is pointing to HIM! So we must not package, the whole Law( Torah) to The Temple law! Yes it was Fulfilled everything in CHRIST( All The Temple function),understanding Romans 7 , within the context and 8:1-4 ( will help) but, some laws, has to do with our neighbours, moral law has to continue in these sense! As long as we have the right perspective on it! which Apostle says in one of his Epistles ( GOD inspired Word)! After all when The King has rule in HIS KINGDOM with Justice and Righteousness, not in some kind of a Theological Anarchy, ( just a little thoughts, that may help us to grow and mature in our Spiritual life, our life still needed this life giving wisdom( 2 Timothy 3:16) So which Law are we operating? THE LAW OF SPIRIT which produces this LIFE in union with MESSIAH YESHUA, has set me free free from The Law of Sin and death! Shalom❤

saints keep Torah. MAT 5:17 is the direct rebuke from Yahushua to the MAN of perdition who would think to change times (moedim - feast days calendar ) and laws (TORAH) prophesied by Daniel.
Dan 7:25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.
THIS MAN IS THE 'WHOSOEVER" and all who follow him that RELAXES TORAH. This is the MAN that Solberg bows to in Rome, the Pope who controls the World Council of "Churches" the Nicene Creed Syndicate : Catholic Church. Solberg has a surprise if he is still alive in the fulfillment of prophet Zekeryahu which will bring famine and no rain on those who have survived of the families who have come against Israel ( ie hate Yahuah's Torah and those who are of the Commmon Wealth of spiritual Israel by the renewed covenant in keeping Torah). Solberg will be forced to go up to Jerusalem to keep the FEAST of Sukkot (Tabernacles) not SUNday or Christ Mass or Easter ( Ishtar) in Rome. If he dies before then he will not be seeing eternal life but fearful judgement and destruction of body and soul.

For if that first covenant had been faultless, then no place would have been sought for a second. Because finding fault with them, He says: "Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah- not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they did not continue in My covenant, and I DISREGARDED them, says the LORD.

@@StevenRotelli Indeed it does, amen. The Matthew passage says 'until *all* is accomplished'. It amazes and boggles my mind that anyone can read the law and the prophets and think that *all* has been accomplished (fulfilled). Much of what is written is not accomplished until the second coming and the millennial reign. The levitical system will even be reinstated (this will not even be the first time the levitical priesthood/temple has been destroyed and then later revived). Death is not destroyed until after Christ's millennial reign. The sacrifices (involving death) won't stop until _after_ death is destroyed. They are a 'picture' of Christ. Those living in the new age (millennium) will _need_ that picture. This teaching that *all* has been 'accomplished' is not even biblical.

He says his law is not burdensome and it is the love of Yahuah that we keep his commandments. (1 Jn 5:3) Neither Solberg nor your neighbour will be able to account for your actions. @thomasprice1320 Jesus was a jew speaking to other Jews. Christians aren't against the law, but once the new covenant was in action the law takes on a new significance. In the passage you quote, Christ hadn't yet been crucified and resurrected and his first commission was to the Jews only. The great commission is to all people and Gentiles aren't under the entire mosaic covenant. They're under the new covenant, which has Christ, not Moses's laws as the center of it.

In the new covenant, God put His laws in our heart and put His Spirit inside of us and said He would cause us to walk out His commandments. The levitical system and the temple have been destroyed before...and then restored. That sacrificial system/temple never saved, either the first or second time. It is prophesied to be restored in the millennial kingdom on earth (a third time). It won't save then either _but it will continue to point us to Christ._ That is it's purpose. Jesus really meant it when he said heaven and earth will pass away before one jot or tiddle will pass from the law or the prophets.

This has to be said! When someone starts questioning the Bible and starts looking for evidence, that in itself opens a door or gateway for unseen forces to enter in your spirit. In a real bad way. It’s ok to research things but if it ties into groups denying Yeshua/Jesus you will feel a dark shadow come over you. There is something sinister at play here guys. I have not once seen or felt the love of God coming forth from the Sacred Names/Torah followers! They don’t like the term God or Lord used in the Bible. I explained that The Lord God almighty is a powerful term to explain God or give a description. Nope! That’s a title not his name they say. Seems to me that their spirit does not want to glorify God that way. What is more powerful than saying the Lord God Almighty. To me there’s no other that have that title in all of creation. Is there a demon seed involved in those groups? I think so. Maybe not at the start but later it comes into fruition

      @TheBiblicalRoots  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

Hi, Mr. Steve! Actually, John tells us that "Everyone who makes a practice of sinning also practices lawlessness; sin is _lawlessness"_ (ἀνομία); meaning rebellion, disobedience, living as a law unto ourselves rather than submitting to God (see Deut 9:7, 24; 31:27). The sin we repent of today is rebellion against God and “missing the mark” when it comes to living out His will for our lives in love, service, and purity.
For those under the law of Moses, breaking that law was sinful, of course. But sin is much bigger than that! In fact, “sin was in the world _before_ the law was given” (Rom. 5:13, see Gen 4:7; 13:13; 18:20; 39:9). So if we merely define sin as a transgression of the Law of Moses, then Adam and Eve never sinned, because they did not break any of the Mosaic commands.

      They're not mosaic commands rob
They're commands of YHVH who later sent Moses. Beyond the sacrifices which are penance and penalties of law more than law which commandments did Jesus want to fulfill? (remove) Have no other gods before me? Idols? Adultery, theft. I actually came here for understanding , but I really don't understand your goal.
There's about a 2 percent chance I have Hebrew roots from an ancestor, tops! Not about Jewish roots for me. But defending the ordinances of god.
And doing my best to follow them as Christ did. So if I struggle with it sometimes, at least I do struggle, if I eat clean foods I don't do it for salvation, but as a reminder that he, and not me is king, nor do I impose that on others who are not called to do so. It's not even something I make a point of discussing with people unless it comes up.
If a person eats unclean food, the prescribed punishment is: nothing. The Mosaic Law does not give a punishment for breaking kosher laws (Leviticus 11). Typically, a person would become ceremonially unclean because of touching a dead person or a non-kosher animal, or from having a discharge of some kind.
if I hang tzitzit from the mirror of my truck it's the same. A reminder that Jesus purchased me and I belong to him, and he makes the rules. TORAH. From equidistant letter spacing from the first yod the book of Leviticus in the original text spells over and over YHVH, he actually signed it. I'm a believer in Christ, his righteousness is the only such that is in me.

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

False! Not all is accomplished yet. Petra is not the WORD of Elohim. The Torah REMAINS so that the wicked (those who come against it Zech 14 etc) can be judged by it. "Then comes the end, when he delivers the kingdom to Elohim (pw God) the Father after destroying every rule and every authority and power. For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. The last enemy to be destroyed is death. For “Elohim has put all things in subjection under his feet.” But when it says, “all things are put in subjection,” it is plain that he [Yahushua (pw Jesus] is excepted who put all things in subjection under him. When all things are subjected to him, then the Son himself will also be subjected to him who put all things in subjection under him, that Elohim may be all in all."(1Co 15:24-28) This verse also CONFIRMS THE SOVEREIGNTY of YAHUAH for there is only one YAHUAH (not three) and only ONE Son by whom we are saved YAHUSHUA which means YAHUAH (his Father) has Saved who is ANOINTED BY YAHUAH's Spirit

After verse 20 he helps us to see what law he is talking about, which hasn't changed. He is speaking about the ten commandments, don't murder, don't commit adultery, etc. And he shows that this moral law goes deeper than the letter. For example showing that even lusting after a woman is adultery. This moral law is just as it was written in stone and just as it has been written in the hearts of many believers since the time of Adam and Eve (see Heb 11 for the faithful that had the law written in their hearts). As a bonus, in Matthew 5, Jesus even mentions an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth, teaching contrary to that, showing it isn't the civil law he is referring to.

Hello and blessings. I am a believer in the whole word. I guess you would call me a Torah keeper. So I disagree with your assessment on the righteousness of the pharisees. Jesus isn’t coming up with a new righteousness. It’s the same righteousness that has always been (Psalm 119:42 your righteousness is for ever, your law is truth.) Jesus exposes the pharisees for who they are in Matt 23:2-3 “The pharisees sit on moses’ seat, so DO and OBSERVE whatever they tell you but not the works they do. For they PREACH but do not PRACTICE. They did not keep the law.” If I look at Matt 5:17-19 I see what I am supposed to do. I am supposed to DO and TEACH even the least of the commandments, as opposed to the pharisees that did not do even though they taught the law. If you go down the line on Matt 23 you’ll see much of the same judgments that are found in Matt 5-7 and Jesus tells them they are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness. They had their own thoughts on what people should do and they added to the law many things burdening the people with their teachings apart from sitting in moses seat. For example, all the commands they want to condemn people for doing on the sabbath when Gods word doesn’t say those things are forbidden. Also, there are many prophecies that have not been accomplished because we await Jesus’ return. There are a great many prophecies about the last day. I’ve been told by many that what needed to be accomplished was his death and resurrection I believe it’s his return which when it happens heaven and earth will actually pass away, (Rev 21:1). And in rev 21:6 He says “it is done!” The word for done here is ginomai which is the same word used in matt 5:18 for accomplish. The word used for when Jesus says it is finished is In John 19:30 which is teleo. Because of this I think that it is actually when heaven and earth pass away that an iota and jot can pass from the law. I just want to obey Jesus when he tells me that I should “not think” that he had come to abolish the law. So If I love like he abolished any law then I must be thinking it and that he told me not to do. My interpretation of abolish is to relax the commandments. And my definition of fulfill is to DO and Teach. This is what he is contrasting and telling us about in Matt 5:19. I like your videos although I don’t agree with the conclusions. I think you have a nice way of talking to people like me with out condemning. (Any capitalization of words is not out of anger but for emphasis. I hope you understand.) Thanks!

    • @davelyn786
      @davelyn786 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

So with that being said I just want to add that I don’t feel obigated do any of this nor do I think God forces anyone to do it. It is my expression of love to God. He tells me if I love him I would keep his commandments. I do this because I do love him and I am doing it because I am grateful for my salvation not to earn salvation. I John 2:3 and by this we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commandments. The law doesn’t annul the promise and if not then I will continue to love him in this way. Thanks again.

1: Jews at that time would not have believed that the messiah would come to abolish the law. This indicates that these are words put into Jesus mouth much later when this became an issue amongst gentile Christians, most likely a response to Paul’s teachings.
    2: most
Messianic prophecies are not fulfilled yet, therefore it doesn’t matter if heaven or earth pass away or everything is fulfilled, in any case no iota nor tittle shall be removed.

Wow, old video. I saw this searching Matthew 5,18. So, i thought I would take a look. This is the link i clicked on from the other video. Also, with the conflict in the middle east, i like staying refreshed on this topic. It very relevant with what is happening in conjuction with Isreal. While at 19:02 i paused and thought. When Jesus was here at that time. What comes to mind is, he did not teach 2 different things, believe in him and practice law for salvation. He taught 1 thing really and that was to believe in him, and just like the teaching in this video, he was fulfilling what was fortold. Which, this is very in depth and dissecting these scriptures. My thinking was, no matter how many temples they build in Jerusalem and the red heifer and all that, it means nothing to God, and Jesus said He is the only way to God and any other way wer theives ect. So essentially, when we come into contact with a jew, we dont say... okay, good that you dont believe Christ, i hope your living good by the law/torah, have a nice day. No, were to earnestly try and convert them.

The passage is actually simpler than most make it out to be.
"Ginomai" does not mean fullfilled NOR accomplished. It's poorly translated most of the time.
Ginomai means "a total change in the condition".
Therefore, Mathew 5:18 is better translated and understood as:
"For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything changes to THAT condition".
Until everything changes to THAT condition. Which condition? Well, the aforementioned condition,...namely, the passing of heaven and earth.
Jesus is saying, pretty clearly I might add when people bother to translate passages accurately, that until the condition changes to the passing of the heaven and earth, He will change nothing from the Law or Prophets.
If you can read this, then rest assured, the Law and the Prophets still exist for believers in Christ.

DID YOU KNOW JESUS TOLD HIS DISCIPLES TO OBEY THE LAW OF MOSES?
    Reading is in Matthew 23
Jesus in the previous chapter was confronted by the Pharisees and their disciples who wanted to trap him by what he said. Sadducees also joined in with their question, but Jesus silenced them all.
Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples,
“When the scribes and the Pharisees are seated in the seat of Moses. Therefore DO whatever they tell you, and OBSERVE and DO. But do not after their works, because they don’t practice what they teach.”” Matthew 23:1‭-‬3
What is Jesus saying & what is the "seat of Moses"?
When the Scribes and Pharisees sit in the seat of Moses they are reading from the Torah, the law of Moses. Jesus is saying to obey what they are reading.
Jesus then gives a warning. "But do not after their works, because they don’t practice what they teach."
Through out the rest of chapter 23 Jesus highlights their hypocrisies and their duplicity as he scolds them for not doing what they preach.
Jesus tells us in Matthew 5:18 that the law of Moses and the prophets will not pass away until heaven and earth pass away. Heaven and Earth don't pass away until after Jesus 1000 reign on earth.
"And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; ...." Revelation 21:1 KJV
    Jesus/Yeshua said:
“Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.” Matthew 5:17 KJV

  • @Eloweh
    @Eloweh 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Wait, why is it when the verse adds “the prophets” does it give less value to the law? Doesn’t it just mean both? As in the whole Tanakh? The Torah is the first 5 books of the Tanakh so wouldn’t that mean the mosaic law is included in what is not changing?
Also why would Jesus add “until the Heaven and Earth pass away” if he didn’t mean it literally when he means everything else in this specific passage literally? I feel like the existence of Revelation proves that the earth and Heaven will pass away meaning all has not been fulfilled.
Help me understand please, I hope you see this and give me a little more insight, I loved the video and agreed with most of it, just these two issues kind of felt looked over.

Christ came to fulfill. Fulfill = Pleroo (Stong’s #4137) other meanings: to complete, to finish, to fully preach.
Romans 15:19 by power of signs and wonders, and by the power of the Spirit of God. So from Jerusalem all the way around to Illyricum, I have (Pleroo Strong’s #4137) fully proclaimed the gospel of Christ. (“Fully preached” in KJV).
Abolish according to Marian-Webster Dictionary: to end the observance or effect of (something, such as a law): to completely do away with (something).
Given these 2 definitions of Fulfill and Abolish and the fact that heaven and earth haven’t passed away, I’m not sure I understand his interpretation as it’s explained.

His use of Heaven and Earth is a metaphor here, used to describe the relationship between God and his people.
God = Heaven = As above
People = Earth = So below
It’s the old relationship between God and his people that passes away and a new relationship begins at his resurrection.
His death and resurrection is what needed to be accomplished so that all would be fulfilled.
How do we know that we are in a new Heaven and Earth (new relationship)?
      “I have been given👉 ALL 👈authority 👉in Heaven and on earth”👈
      Matthew 28:18
Now, let’s go all the way on this one. How do we know we are not under the law of Moses?
      “Teaching them to observe ALL that👉 [ I ] have commanded you”👈
      Matthew 28:20
This verse should really end the debate and have Torah keepers and grace alone adherits rethinking their theology.
Clearly here Yeshua calls for following HIS commands, not Moses and not lawlessness.
Matthew 5:17 - 5:20 is a preface to Yeshua giving most of his commandments in Matthew 5:21 through Matthew 7.
      When Yeshua says:
“and whoever so shall break the least of one of 👉THESE 👈commandments”
The commandments he is talking about are the ones he is ABOUT to give, starting at Matthew 5:21 which is the very next verse.
Yeshua was given ALL authority in the relationship between God and his people, Heaven and Earth has passed away, we are in a New Heaven and Earth (relationship) under the authority of Yeshua, and should be observing his commands as he laid out in Matthew.

According to the Thayer's Greek Lexicon, the meaning of "fulfill" that Yahshua specified, in its grammatical construct, means: "γ. universally and absolutely, to fulfil, i. e. "to cause God's will (as made known in the law) to be obeyed as it should be, and God's promises (given through the prophets) to receive fulfilment": Matthew 5:17" See that? Yahshua showed how His Law is to be lived, and how to obey them. That does not bode well for the continuance of the Law of Moses since Yahshua clearly stated much higher standards when what is outlined in the Law of Moses and the prophets. Destroy? No. Establish a new and better covenant...yes.

Very fascinating video and informative. In that passage of scripture it is said that Jesus was using an Jewish idiom.
For the example the word Abolished and Fulfill has a different meaning. The word "abolish" means not interpreting correctly and the word "Fulfill " means proper interpretation.
Also heaven and earth is not talking about a literal Heaven and Earth. It this context Heaven is the temple and earth is Jerusalem/Israel.
When Jesus died on the cross He said it was finished. Then the veil in the Holy of Holies inside the temple was ripped in half from top to bottom.
Then in 70 AD the Roman army came and destroyed the temple and much of Jerusalem, thus Heaven and Earth passed away.

Why do people struggle so hard to trust the scriptures at face value. All is accomplished clearly points to when "Death and Hell" are cast into the lake of fire, as there is no more sin. The wages of sin is death, and so of course once sin no longer exists there will be no more need for the law.
“And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.”
    ‭‭Revelation‬ ‭20‬:‭14‬ ‭KJV‬‬
Secondly, if we are going to acknowledge any of the law as important, then ALL of the law is important.
“For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.”

I am in total agreement that the scripture in the book of Matthew is making reference to the old Testament books and not the law of Moses. If that was the case Jesus would never have sat there and declare that the Law of Moses said but I say, so many times. Anyone who believe this passage was referring to the Mosaic Law is denying Jesus as the Christ because the Law clearly states that No one outside the tribe of Levi was to serve as priest. That was the Law. Yet Jesus, who is our High Priest today was from the tribe of Judah. In order for this to happen the law had to change. Hebrews 7:11-19; 23-28. The bible refers to the law of Moses as. "The old Law, had there not been a new law it would have remained just the law. According to scripture, the old law was removed because it had too many faults. God promises to rewrite his laws, not on tablets, like he gave to Moses, but on the heart of his people Hebrews 8:10-12; Jer 31:33-34.

Jesus is the Cornerstone of Heaven and Earth, when he said on the cross it is finished! This represents the passing away of Heaven and Earth symbolically in fleshly body. He has fulfilled the full requirement of the law , satisfying a debt we could not pay. That is why he is the Sabbath from the beginning and now he is the final spiritual sabbath without a heavy yoke. That’s a tough discussion, Benavi, because the foundational beliefs are so different. For those who want to reject Paul as a false apostle, also need to reject the books of the Bible that he wrote, which means we don’t even have agreement on what is Scripture. And for those who want to accept the parts of Scripture they like, and reject the parts, they don’t, it’s not the Bible they believe but themselves.

Paul is a true apostle. Peter confirms this as you shared. Also notice that Polycarp, the bishop of Smyrna would have been the pastor at the time of the letter sent to the church of Smyrna in the Revelation. Smyrna received _no_ rebuke. Polycarp, their pastor, spoke about Paul as a dear brother in his own letter which you can look up. So Polycarp was not rebuked by Jesus for accepting Paul and his writings. I hope that helps?

    (1) *_Law AND the Prophets,_* versus *_Law OR the Prophets._* With the _or_ conjunction He seems to distinguish between them, not collectively. I know that view may be word-smithing, but you keep saying "Law AND Prophets" when the text clearly says "Law OR Prophets" and then "Law" only in verse 18.
    (2) We also need to ask if the Commandments are actually an integral part of the Law, or do the Commandments precede the Law? And in fact, are the Commandments more fundamental to man's relationship with God than what the Law itself represents? Is the Law of Moses the "school teacher" for how the Jews were keep the Commandments, while the Law of Christ is the more perfect understanding of the Commandments? This may be why the "You have heard it said..." teachings that follow beginning in verse 21.

What God did in Christ through the gospel was world changing and opened up the way for all to be saved in Christ (not by law keeping as we see in Acts 15 and in the entire book of galatians and parts of romans as well).

That is a fantastic question that I addressed in another video. But the cliff notes version is twofold:
First, we risk error if we try to impose our modern sense of precision of time onto the ancient text of the Bible. The Gospel writers didn't walk around with sundials on their wrists and calendars in their pocket. :-) And second, the parenthetical comment in Mark 7:19 "(thus he declared all foods clean)" was actually a summary added by the author of the Gospel. These aren’t words uttered by Jesus at the time. It wasn't until after the resurrection that His followers began to understand what it all meant. And even then it took them a while! (Remember Peter's vision in Acts 10, and how Peter then later separated from the Gentiles and was rebuked for it (Gal 2)). So decades after the actual incident, as the Gospel writer was recounting the story, he added this statement to sum up for his readers what Jesus was getting at. “(Thus he declared all foods clean.)”

Hello, DeVeau! Paul's keeping of the law in Acts 21, and the other Mosaic traditions kept by the apostles, don't show that the law is still in effect. Instead, they remind us that those things were never prohibited and are still permissible. But they are not required. And they certainly don't add a thing to the righteousness that is ours through faith in Jesus. Probably the most clear NT text showing that those things are "permitted but not required" is when the apostle Paul describes his relationship to the law:
19 For though I am free from all, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win more of them. 20 To the Jews I became as a Jew, in order to win Jews. To those under the law I became as one under the law (though not being myself under the law) that I might win those under the law. 21 To those outside the law I became as one outside the law (not being outside the law of God but under the law of Christ) that I might win those outside the law. 22 To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some. 23 I do it all for the sake of the gospel, that I may share with them in its blessings. -1 Corinthians 9

I teach and believe that obedience is God’s “love language.” Jesus said, “If you love me, you will keep my commandments” (John 14:15). And I'm sure you would agree that not every command that God has given applies to every person at all times. Some of His commands only apply to certain people (i.e., men, women, parents, Levitical priests) or for certain times (i.e., building an ark, gathering manna, while in exile). And I'm sure you would also agree that we are each only expected to keep the commands of God that apply to us. The NT teaches that the ceremonial Mosaic commands do not apply to Christians today. (ex. Repeated blood sacrifices for sin are no longer required (Heb 10:18).) We still serve God and obey His commands, “But now we are released from the law, having died with Christ to that which held us captive, so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit and not in the old way of the written code” (Rom 7:6).

Before Jesus dies what did he say about the law? When did heaven and earth pass?
    Luke 16:17
    New King James Version
And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for one tittle of the law to fail.
Years after Jesus has died, what was Paul doing? He was offering sacrifices and in the Temple although Jesus was supposedly the last sacrifice. Is the law of Moses being practiced by Paul years after Jesus has died or was this not a true statement?
    Acts 24:17-18
    New King James Version
“Now after many years I came to bring alms and offerings to my nation, 18 in the midst of which some Jews from Asia found me purified in the temple,
We know James had no teachings about the law of Moses going away and in front of many he made Paul and others pay for sacrifices and go to the Temple for purification after Jesus has died. James surely had nothing to say concerning an end of ceremonial laws. Acts 21:20-26
Paul had a chance to tell his vision and Revelations form Jesus to James but did not open his mouth about it. Galatians 1:11-12
That's three accounts form the NT that the law was in effect after the death of Jesus. Jews were subject to the 613 laws and Gentiles were subject to the seven laws of Noah alluded to in Acts 15:20

If you understood the day of atonement, you would understand that the sacrifice was done before the high priest went into the holy place. When Jesus said it is finished, the sacrifice was finished. Jesus fulfilled all the requirements of the sacrifice. According to hebrews he is now serving as high priest. So not all is finished, otherwise we would already be in heaven. Also when Jesus says when heaven and earth pass away, it parallels when all is fulfilled. That means that will happen at the same time. Usually it’s the simple explanation that is true. Why take a straight forward statement of Jesus and come up with a convoluted explanation of why he didn’t mean what he said. If this is how scripture is to be used, then you can make the scripture say anything you want. Historically, the church has been known to do exactly that.

I follow the Torah because they are His commandments and I love Him for what he did for us. I don’t want to write a book here, but look into the following statements and hope it helps:
      1) Jesus says in John that he has 2 new commandments: Love your Lord God with all your might, strength and love your neighbor as yourself. Are they new? No. Please find in Duet. 6:4 and Lev. 19:18. (Torah).
      2) Jesus says next that the Torah and the prophets hang from these 2 commandments.
      3) Here is the tie in:
Love your Lord God with all your heart, might, strength.
      1-4 of the 10 commandments
      Love your neighbor as yourself.
      5-10 of the 10 commandments
The rest of the Torah (commandments) tell you how to do the Love God and Neighbor commandments.
      4) When moses finally came down with the stone tablets, not just the 10 commandments were written down. The whole Law was also written on the front and back. Find in Exodus. That means the law was written on stone as well.
2Peter 3:15-19 says that if you read Paul’s writings without a foundation which I believe is the Torah and prophets, you will become lawless (Without Torah). That sure came true. Hope this helps. Peace

    • @TheBiblicalRoots
      @TheBiblicalRoots  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

I will be honest, Scott. I have not looked into this issue in great detail. I know that God values generosity and He is not interested in legalism. He ultimately wants our heart, not our wallet. So does the OT concept of tithing carry over as a legal requirement? My gut says no, but again, I have not studied it in detail yet. That said, I believe Christians are called to even greater voluntary generosity than what the OT required. Not just the giving of our money, but of our time and other resources as well.
Kostenberger said, "In the end, obedience in giving comes down to our relationship with the Father. Christians need to be willing to give whatever the Lord may ask, whether it be one percent, five percent, ten percent, twenty percent, or one hundred percent. Radical obedience to his guidance is required. Rather than quibble over some of the questions concerning tithing, we should ask, “How can I manage my affairs so that I can give more?” Giving our resources to aid the ministry of God should not be viewed as burdensome. According to Blomberg, “Christian giving is a gift from the grace of God, which he enables Christians to exercise. With the proper perspective, the more one gives, the more joy one can find in giving." I find that very biblical.

@@TheBiblicalRoots I agree. I have done a ton of research and prayer on the subject. For some reason most churches who have the right view on the law and legalism still have the wrong view on tithing. My personal opinion is that church leadership often times worry if they don't say you must tithe that people will instead give small amounts that they are comfortable with instead. So they would rather have a budgeted amount they can count on. But they should instead trust God to provide through his people. The law required tithing but the new testament requires us to give it all. 100 percent is given to God through the way we steward our finances and talents.
      Thanks again for your work.

We know now that the original gospels were written in Hebrew (which makes sense since they were Hebrew) and so when we look at Matthew 5:17 the word we see now for law was originally Torah. The Torah is only part of the Tanach as it’s really an abbreviation TNK (Torah, Neviem, Kotvim” (Torah, prophets, and writings).
Yes he is right that our righteousness no longer depends on our ability to uphold the Torah (which means instructions not law) as God knows that not one of us are able to do that. There also does take some deciphering between which parts have been fulfilled (Jesus is our eternal sacrifice) but where the error in this is the accomplished work and that none of it matters for us. If that was the case then why is adultery, homosexuality, and murder still wrong which is all from the Torah and the church still believes.
Secondly, Jesus has fulfilled much of the Torah and prophets but not all. This is why he specifically says until heaven and earth pass which will only happen through Jesus second coming and after all that will come in revelations. Part of this we can only understand through specifically the feasts dictated by God in Leviticus 23 that Paul said are prophetic shadow pictures of what has and is to come. Yes we cannot actually sacrifice or keep these holy days but we should certainly be celebrating and remembering them as it has much to do with how Jesus is and will continue to be the fulfillment of scriptures.
Sadly, as God said in Hosea “my people were destroyed for a lack of knowledge” which is happening right now in the church. We should be ready to give other people an answer for our faith and most believers cannot even begin to describe how Jesus actually fulfilled the scriptures.
I would really caution both sides, those who are legalistic with the Torah and the mainstream church who think the law doesn’t matter at all to really seek Gods heart in this. These feasts and laws he made were really to protect us because he loves us, made us, and knows what’s best for us. I do believe he is asking us to relook at the Torah and prophets and even start celebrating these feasts because it will be part of understanding Jesus return. God bless!

Hi Jackie! Are you talking about Calvin's “third and principal use” of the law is as an instrument to learn God’s will?
Paul is obviously citing the 5th commandment (Exod. 20:12; Deut. 5:16) here, and his instruction is based on the principle of mutual submission he began speaking about in 5:21. (Paul likewise expects that children be treated with respect by their parents (see v. 4).) And he updates the promise that accompanied this commandment in the OT. In the Torah it says, "so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you." Paul omits the phrase "your God is giving you" and instead says, "so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life *_on the earth”_* (NIV). (The Greek word behind "earth" is γῆ (gē), which can mean land or earth.) Paul is teaching the _principle_ behind this important Old Covenant commandment and placing it in a New Covenant context. We are still to honor our mother and father.
      Blessings, Rob

Sanctify means to be set apart, Lets read these verses in context..... For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving; 5 for it is sanctified (Set apart) by the word of God (Lev 11) and prayer. 1 Timothy 4:4-5 Paul says were to use all Scripture for Doctrine. 2 Tim 3:16

      All Scripture
Gen. 7-At this time everyone eating plant based, the only qualification was not to eat of the knowledge of good and evil. (Gen. 1:29; 2:16-17)
(Obviously they wouldn’t eat poisonous foods)
      Gen. 8-Sacrifice clean animals
Gen. 9-God blesses Noah and sons.
      Every living thing that moveth,
Even as the green herb have I given you all things.
      v.4 The qualifier to that.
But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat.
Mosaic law given specifically to Israel and not other nations, to set them apart-quite specific in its classifications in clean/unclean relating to eating. What was abomination to Israel.
      To Gentiles-Acts 15, 21
mentioned meat offered to idols (offensive to Jewish believers in this new meshing of Jewish and Gentiles believers), also blood and things strangled.
There are also NT passages that talk about filtering our actions including sometime food in consideration of conscience and faith, those weaker in their faith.
And then the verses you mentioned. Part of the New covenant. Again-pay attention to the wording.
      1 Timothy 4:4-6
For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: [5] For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer. [6] If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.
And the context verses before and after of those verses.
      1 Timothy 4:1-2,7-9
      Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; [2] Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
[7] But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness. [8] For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come. [9] This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation.
Hope this is edifying in your walk with the Lord and study of the Scriptures.

Rob----if you understood Daniel 9. 24.27 you would not confuse the ceremonial law with the Moral law....the law in Mt.5 17-18 is the 10 commandments -they are permanent.

He finished his mission of atoning for our sins. All that is written in the law and the prophets *is not yet accomplished.* Many things are prophesied to happen at his second coming and during his millennial reign on the earth.

Interesting ao you make the messiah a liar when he said " I do not come to do away with." Interesting stance to take. JESUS SAID he didn't come to do away with.. yet here we go woth almost every Christian that don't test the word or rarely read it are like oh he did away with it.. just wild to see.

Be careful this young man teaches THAT Matt 22,36,37 was done away with .It,s not for Christian .36“Teacher, which commandment is the greatest in the Law?” 37 Yahushua declared, “‘Love the Yahweh your Elohim with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’
He is a deceiver .He teaches that obedience is not important anymore .

Matthew 5:18 I believe "Heaven and earth shall not pass away"... is a Hebrew idiom. They understood the Temple to be where Heaven/GOD meets Earth/man. When destroyed in 70ad, Heaven and Earth passed away. YESHUA is the temple that dwells in us, the Temple of the HS, meeting with HIM in our hearts. A more sincere abiding in faith.

It is IMPOSSIBLE for the ten commandments to be the law of Moses, mosaic law, or old testament law.
The law of this scripture passage is the ten commandments, not the law of Moses.
Isaiah has not been fulfilled. 66:23.
