Thank you, you saved me a lot of trouble and time. Always try to adjust the E-brake from the inside but as soon as you explained what was going on I felt relief and dumb at the same time lol.
Bro that jeep is sooooo clean, omg. I live in the rust belt sadly, cars here get replaced more often than a T-shirt since manufacturers dont want to build one that can last in this environment.
Dude...Great freakin content!! Still one of my favorite jeep channels (short list). Suggestion...do a more thorough install video for the trail rocker system. I know allot of people don't go for the wiring upgrades because its an intimidating job. Your trail rocker video got/helped me to install mine and I love the thing. If not for your video I'd have never done it. Also, a quick long term review would be cool as well. Thanks for the videos and keep em coming!!!
Good video Jason. Yea I have that same issue with the self adjusting little drum in the handle that takes up slack. I notice that when I park with the front uphill it doesn’t take up the slack but if I park level or down hill it takes up some of the slack and the handle is tight. It’s an obvious flaw in the design.
I found my Jk would not hold the adjustment and I was constantly adjusting as outlined in the video. It would work for a little while. I found A common problem is the ratcheting mechanism in the handle. I replaced the return spring with drum brake springs as I put new shoes on and bought the hardware kit. It works flawlessly now. This compliments proper adjustment.
@AutoEdits Not at the drums. There is a ratcheting mechanism in the hand brake that takes up a lot of slack in the cable - enough slack that it cannot be adjusted at the drum. You can see this if you "pump" your handbrake up and down, it'll tighten.
Yes there is a clock spring and clutch that doesn’t hold up to well. I put the brake shoe springs from the bolts that mount the handle assay to the tab that holds the two cables. My clock spring would just keep introducing more and more slack. Now it stays just a few clicks away from engaging.
I was actually going to buy one of those DRZ bikes back in 2004 and use it for a commuter but ended up with an SV instead. Wish I could ride again but an accident while riding my last bike (a GSX-R) left me without a left foot to shift lol. Be safe out there dude. Back when I rode bikes there wasn't all the distracted drivers on their phones while driving.
@@AutoEdits yes the GSX-R or "Gixxer" as many called them lol were awesome bikes. Mine was a 2007 GSX-R 600 with the gloss and flat black color scheme.
Hey everyone! You don't need to take your wheels off for this! I was able to get the job done by climbing underneath my Jeep with a flashlight, needle nose pliers, and a brake spoon. It's a tight job with limited visibility but is entirely possible to do without lifting the vehicle. Just be careful not to overtighten, as you won't be able to do the drag test on the rotors using this method.
It did great... after some time I found if the Jeep sat more than a few days it still tick'd for a moment at startup. I have since swapped back to the normal oil to save a few bucks since the 0w-20 cost $5 more per quart.
Hey man! I just replaced my parking brake shoes and it was a monster of a job! When you threw pads on, did you replace the rotors? I have the same power stop z36; when it’s time to change do I get new rotors or just pads? Thanks in advance buddy!
If the rotors are in good condition (no grooves or excessive wear) I'll just throw a set of pads on. After the second set... I'll have the rotors machined and measured.
Hey Jason, great to see Pinto is happy and healthy. Looks like the TPL is long past. Hemi through a Rod through the block just over a week ago. While waiting to see how much after market warranty will pay for engine replacement, needed wheels and bought Gladiator Rubicon and took delivery on Sunday. Don't have the energy or time right now to start another major overland build. Going to keep in simple & clean (I hope!). Need to get a winch on it asap. Might even temporarily pull winch off Ram. Planning to keep stock front bumper, see I can buy a winch plate for stock bumper see lots choices. Any to avoid? Ones to consider? Or will I regret spending money on a plate and not replacing stock bumper? Pros vs Cons? Any and all tips, opinions welcome.

Great video. One quick question for anyone that can help... Why would I get a squeaking noice from the left rear side when the parking brake is engaged? I have a 24 JL and whenever I engage the e brake, if you are coming in or out of the jeep, the movement from side to side of the jeep makes a squeaking noice from the left rear side... no noice when the e brake is not engaged. I know I can take it to the dealer since its almost brand new and still under warranty but wondering if anyone here would have an idea of why... and if its worth for me to try and fix it on my own or just take it in for service under warranty... Thanks in advance!!!
I noticed your not running the wheel spacers anymore….. what’s the back spacing of your rims? I like the way it looks! My jeep is a beast with the 44/60 upgrade! You won’t be disappointed.
Two things. One: which way does the adjusting wheel in the e-brake turn (on either side of the Jeep) to either spread or release the shoes? Question two: On the drivers side of my 2012 Wrangler, the adjusting wheel is missing from the hole in the back plate. At some point, it must have fallen down into the lower part of the brake. What do I do now to get the rotor off? Thanks for any advise.
Turn or "click" towards the front of the vehicle to expand the shoes on both sides and towards the rear to loosen. There doesn't seem to be a way for that adjuster to fall off... You might be looking on the wrong side of the backing plate... towards the rear on both sides. Good luck!
Yeah as a few other comments have already said, this completely misses the issue of the weak cable tension take up spring at the handle assembly. If that's not functioning properly then no amount of brake shoe adjustment is going to make the parking brake work satisfactorily.
