I really enjoyed your video, as usual. One thing to keep in mind is that the center support blocks will have double the load that the exterior blocks have. Depending on the soil that could be an issue with settling. It may be fine in your situation, just food for thought. Keep up the good work!

Now, you may be surprised to know that I know nothing at all about decks. 😮 Actually, it was like algebra to me. 😉 But I can tell from the size of the previous concrete patio and the area that is now prepped in your yard, this is going to be much larger. So looking forward to seeing you outside putting it together. So exciting. Thanks for sharing. 👍🏼👍🏼

I'd say even with a floating deck, you're going to want to pitch the deck away from the house. Especially if you're running the deck boards perpendicular to the house. You don't want all that water to dump down at the base of your foundation.

Stefani, I'm thoroughly impressed with this project! I watched it in reverse order (starting with decking) and it was just as fascinating. Almost more helpful to see the semi-final result and know that if I watched the beginning videos you end up with an amazing result. A few questions... if you're not a structural engineer, contractor, etc. what is your background? Part of the reason I'm so impressed is because to DIY this, it takes a LOT of time to piece the steps together. That's the journey I'm on now and it's not easy. How do you find the time?? You have a whole channel of DIY projects. I've been at this for 8 years with my house only have a fraction of the projects you do to show for it. Back to the deck design, how did you go about finding a professional that would check your design? Is this a service that some deck designers/builder or engineers advertise or do you just have to call around?

Hi! Great video, love the explanations. Question for you - do you have the model used in SketchUp saved that you are able to share? I'm building a similar sized floating deck, but have limited experience with SketchUp and would find that super helpful to go off of!

our door is only 13cm above the ground (bricks), the composite boards are usually 22mm thick, so the frame should be less than (maximum) 10cm above the ground. oh well...
