The screening has been amazing! I haven't noticed any bugs crawling around, either. Well, the bug guy (exterminator) did spray around the perimeter, but even before he sprayed, it seemed like it was doing its job! :)
Awww.....I'm glad that it looks easy, because it is! I think this deck was easy because the first one causes me so much angst! LOL. I think by this point, I had a good idea of what I needed to do. LOL
It was soooo nice! The most surprising thing was how BREEZY and cool it was compared to the US! The US was having a major heat wave, but I was living my best life in Africa. HA! :) Thank you!!
@@ThriftDiving Wow! That is incredible. I have been to Nigeria. It was so hot and humid. I went for a month during Christmas and the new year. I will be trying new areas. So this one is on the list now! 💃
Yessss, Tracey! I am so thankful that I remembered that tip from my carpentry teacher!!! It seems to be working. We will see next Spring when all the bugs reemerge. LOL
The pergola was soooo amazing! I really wish I could cover my gazebo in vines, just like the hotel had. The hotel had other quaint seating areas, too, covered in vines, and it really was magical when sitting under them. :) Thank you for watching, Marie!
Very good tutorial...I was looking for something like this, I had alot of questions on how to go about building a small deck & you Pretty much answered all of them...good work
That looks amazing! And it seemed pretty simple to do. Thanks! I have a swing (not as nice as yours) on my front porch and I think I couldn't live without it 😄 (I just signed up for the power tools course)
I’m always excited when your video notification pops up! You never miss the mark on creative instructional content. This is something I will file away to try when the Texas heat monster retreats! I’m still waiting for HGTV to make you an offer! 😊
Good Morning, upon noticing your profile name, "PlantingLife," I subscribed to your channel. Lately, I have gotten interested in plants and more plants, especially green ones and cacti 😍 And yes, I agree with you, Serena needs to be on HGTV 👍
It has been a while since I subscribed to this channel. I found the build of the deck you built to your She Shed, and I was hooked in to subcribe. I will be building a Tiny House Village on some inherited property, and will be using a number of the same methods as suggested in these videos. Thanks so much for sharing the valuable tips! ❤❤❤
You can do it! It's was super easy! Just make sure it's level, and do all these same steps and--BOOM!--you've got an elevated place to chill out! :) Let me know how it goes!
Thanks for the intro and no disrespect intended, you are amazing! I think they have snakes where you visited, so I think I would be on edge under the plant covered swing. Those earwigs are the masters of entry of the insect world. Awesome build and very nice hat.
Hi Serena , you are amazing ! And you do beautiful work with class . Lol … I think I’ll try to build the same one . If I need help I’ll holler from Durham NC . Keep doing what u do . I been following your channel from the start your kids are growing up so fast . Ok I’ll keep watching 👍🏽
WOW, from the start! That is insane!! :) My boys are definitely growing up. I always joke that you never know how quickly time passes until you look at kids. It's true! Thank you for keeping up with me this long. I appreciate that so much. :)
Thanks, Lynne! Yes, the netting was an option to purchase with the pergola! I actually am going to need to replace it. I left it up all winter and now it's got some holes in it. How?!?! LOL
Typically they do recommend putting them back 12" from the side. For me, it wasn't that important. And also, it depends on the size of what you're building. Something smaller, they may need to be on the sides for stability.
Hi Serena thank you for offering classes 😊 If you could spell the name of the free online sketch app I'd so appreciate your kindness always Thanks in advance wanna be sure I'm spelling correctly I so need to be to use this app Thanks
I used Sketchup! It's free, and there is a paid version. But you can do it with the free version. Just google it and create a free account. It's a bit of a learning curve to using it, but you can take online tutorials. I'm thankful I put the time into learning the basics of it. I used LinkedInLearning.com to do a course on how to use SketchUp and it was pretty helpful!
Good point, I think it's fine, really. There is so much support under this, that it's structurally sound. But if someone wants to use 2x6s, go for it. ❤️

The screening is a great idea… I’m going to file that away for later too! Amazing job on your happy place- it looks so peaceful.

@@ThriftDivingAre you available for hire? My Mom would love this in her yard.
The fact that it’s all 2x4’s is what amazes me
Place a solar water fountain near....Blessings
This is absolutely the video I needed! This is something I really want to do next spring
This turned out lovely!
Just wonderful! What a great idea!
Great job! It looks beautiful! And that swing looks so comfortable! 😹💝🥰🤗

Looks amazing Serena. Great idea with the screen under the boards, I will add that to our own deck plans!

OMG! I love this.
I love this unit. I will consider adding to my yard. This would be a great get away after gardening. Thank you for sharing.

You totally amaze me, Serena!!!
Awww, thank you, Eileen!! :)
Awesome deck and vacation!
Good to see you at this time Serena. Sharing your amazing video to watch it with ease 😊 I love the Pergola and yes, loved your adventures in Africa ❤

@ThriftDiving: Like Christopher Lowell used to say, "You can do it!" And that I'm sure of, you can do it. If not natural vines, then maybe faux ones 😉
Your videos are always just the best! Loved the way this turned out!
Wow wonderful well done.
Love it! Definitely need this in my yard.
U Rock, what a Great job. I have a Desire to do this myself. Thank u for sharing!
This is a great idea! One that I have had on my "To Do" list since my mom and I put together my Pergola this Summer. Thanks for sharing.
You can do this in a weekend!
Looks fabulous👌 ..I'm sure it will bring you much joy😊
Beautiful!!
Thank you so much!! :)
So impressed!!! Looks great. Ghana looks amazing too. I'm gonna have to listen to the podcast as well.
Yes, please do!! I always love new listeners! :)
Great place for a good book and a nap 😴🥰
I like your ‘happy place’ and I want to check out your shed too.! So glad I found you!!
Nice and the trip sounds amazing!
Cool! I have a wonderful friend who “sponsored” my next project. I will be making a deck soon!

Yes yes yes love this
Ahhh, the joys of having a real backyard.😍🤩
Yesss! Although the weeds in this part are ridiculous! It's overwhelming and I hate that part. LOL
I always learn so much from your channel. Thank you!
Looks beautiful ! I could see myself napping 😴on the swing chair

Hey, welcome back to my channel! :) Wow.... I love the idea of a tiny house village!
Oh my goodness. This was great.
So awesome you did a great job and this is exactly what I want in my yard!!🥰
Go for it! The weather is cooling off and it's the best time to spend some time outdoors!
This is very nice! Great job!
You came inspired. I am ready to create the exact same thing in my yard. I need this bad.
You can do it! It's was super easy! Just make sure it's level, and do all these same steps and--BOOM!--you've got an elevated place to chill out! :) Let me know how it goes!
Yes!!! We did 2 layers of screen under our deck
Awesome job.
Loved how you explained the action and logic. That looked like something I could do in my yard. I liked the tools. Great video worth subscribing.
I'm doing the exact same thing. Thanks for the video👍🏼
Good luck!
Welcome back from Ghana 🤗🤝
Yessss! Feels good being home again. I don't think I ever want to go anywhere for more than 10 days next time. LOL
Thanks for the intro and no disrespect intended, you are amazing! I think they have snakes where you visited, so I think I would be on edge under the plant covered swing. Those earwigs are the masters of entry of the insect world. Awesome build and very nice hat.
Thank you! :) Thankfully, the earwigs haven't invaded the area! And as for the swing in Ghana, I'm glad I didn't think of that at the time. LOL
🔥 best TH-cam account EVER!
You are so sweet, thank you, Craig!
Bravo..bon travail 😊😊😊😊

Great job!!!!!!!!
Beautiful
So nice!
You did an amazing job and if you don’t mind me asking what size was the gazebo and what size was your floating deck?
This is sooooo beautiful! inspiration! And fellow dexcom homie? And I love the hidden screws.
Thank you!! Yes, love my glucose monitors! Health is #1!!
Love it. Will be taking yours ideas to build one at the cottage. Question did the screen netting come with your pergola? If not, where to buy?
Thanks, Lynne! Yes, the netting was an option to purchase with the pergola! I actually am going to need to replace it. I left it up all winter and now it's got some holes in it. How?!?! LOL
Nice! Thank you!
I love it! What size is he deck?
Love it!

I love love love it❤
is there a way to put the tuffblocks so they are set back from the edge and not visible?
Typically they do recommend putting them back 12" from the side. For me, it wasn't that important. And also, it depends on the size of what you're building. Something smaller, they may need to be on the sides for stability.
Good job
I love it and I actually have the perfect spot for it, now the difficult part is trying to convince my husband 😅
enjoy

Awesome🥰🥰🥰
So, I'm not crazy. I want to retro fit my deck with screening to keep wasp from coming up. They always build nests under my decks and porch.
I will do that in my yard
What is the base under the blocks?
I'm going to build mine with the board length 12 ft long
Whats the name of the app you used to digitally create the project??
I used Sketchup! It's free, and there is a paid version. But you can do it with the free version. Just google it and create a free account. It's a bit of a learning curve to using it, but you can take online tutorials. I'm thankful I put the time into learning the basics of it. how much did the floating deck cost ?
Nice job but 2x6 for strength and longevity would be better
Good point, I think it's fine, really. There is so much support under this, that it's structurally sound. But if someone wants to use 2x6s, go for it. ❤️
Put this on wheels and it could be even better for some people and their yard situation.
2x6 wood is smarter.
💜💜💜💜💜💜
You should always wear gloves when working with Treated wood.
"Do I need to obtain a permit to build this?"
My type of lady
A love your video, it’s flippin cool way cool just like you.
Awwww, thank you! :) That means a lot, Andy!
