lol literally every character i make, i always make a point to go out of my way to get this weapon just to be thorough. and its not something you just randomly pickup as your walking around. you actually have to make an effort to get it since its hanging in that awkward spot. but ive never in all the times i got it, ever used it even once.

Dude as soon as I saw the video I thought, "DERPY". He is an absolute witch with that weapon, and has shut me down more than a few times with it.
It took 2 1/2 years for this weapon to get the recognition it deserves, has and always will be one of my favorites. Second only to the crescent axe

year crescent axe is super fun, sadly can't use it without getting frustrated on PC. considering the latency difference with some players and avarage builds being the usual meta ones.

I remember looking through the weapons on the wiki, trying to recreate all forms of the Soul of Cinder, and I saw the Partizan’s weapon art and thought “what’s a spear doing with the same weapon art as the spiked mace?”
the thing that drives me nuts with dark souls' lances is the fact that they don't hold it correctly, and could be so much better if they held it at the end of the pole instead of the middle. it drives me insane
In fact there is no lances in the game besides the greatlance that is categorized as Pike
well you don't want to hold it right at the end you do need a little weight to counter balance the head. Also they do slide the weapon through the front hand for more reach.
Yeah, thats not how All spears should be handled. I have Used a spear in actual classes around weaponry. It is actually harder to handle a spear all the way at the bottom. Its got good range sure, but pulling back, doing PRECISE stabs, or slashes and recovering from them or any move is much easier when your grip is around the Center. Now that doesnt mean Dont go to the bottom. There are times when over extending the spear can be great, but its not something you should always do. If your opponent manages to get close, what are you gonna do when the head of the spear is all the way 3 feet behind him, and you dont have any shaft or butt of the spear to work with?? However if your grip Is at the center and you dont over extend and miss, its much faster and easier to retract and defend or get ready for another stab. Not to mention with the butt end of the shaft you can use it as a club. Point is, not all spears should be handled at the bottom. Pikes are Meant to be used at the bottom to deal with cavalry and in formations. But a spear like the partizen in game, a spear thats almost as tall as you or a bit taller. Its best to use in the center.
Partizan and Lucerne has been my load out since DSIII released.
I tried on a quality build and the AR was garbage. Then saw the numbers with sharp infusion and fell in love with it, an the Leo ring makes gives tears of joy.
The background is really hitting me, subscribing on that reason alone.

Here' one tidbit that can come in handy.
Against smaller weapons I like to do an L2 on it's own. For some reason people almost always run in after this. Then I do another L2 and add the R2. It works so often it's absurd. It just flows so weirdly nobody expects you to do it.

I was lucky enough to find out about how sick this spear's moveset is early on in the game's life. Ran the partizan for standard play, offhand manikin claws for parry + rushdown if two-handed and then the dual maces for kicks. the bag of tricks was huge. so much utility man. It's just such a nice weapon. Requires adjustments to use when compared to any other weapon but it rewards uniquely too.

For the many, many hours on dark souls 3 I have actually used this weapon and it's probably my favourite in DKS3. Even though this is years late thanks for bringing it the spotlight. Being reminded of it through a recommendation brings back memories of roll catching and killing with the pseudo combo just because my opponent decided to roll to the side when getting out of my R1s, good times.

I loved this weapon in DS2, absolute mixup king which nobody expected from spears. Sweet memories of intentionally missing the R2 sweep to bait into the follow up stab... Nothing like chasing down a host with a short pointy stick.

It's so fucking satisfying seeing people talk about the Partizan. It was my favorite weapon in Dark Souls lll for these reasons.
Honestly, just wanted to come back and thank you. Not just for your God tier videos, but also for your music. I found your channel, say, 5 or so months ago. I've watched your videos (notably your weapon guides) during some pretty dark times. But back to the music. I first heard this song, and it sounded great. After the video I looked it up, and listened to it. I saw the name, laughed, and continued to listen. All of a sudden, I just kinda broke.

Old video, but I just wanted to thank you for introducing me to my favorite weapon in dark souls 3. I've been using it since this video came out on my SL55 lightning build, and a lightning infused partizan just confuses and frustrates people so much. It's not the highest damage, but its variety of attacks just lets you get SO many hits in that it doesn't even matter.

Ever since this video, even though the fire of this game is on it's last embers, so many partizans have appeared... everywhere I go.
It sat there forgotten, waiting for its moment. Through all the patches and changes, meta and antimeta it waited. This is why I always liked using underated weapons because they eventually have their time to shine!

I've literally never seen this weapon before your video. After so many runs through the game I've never even seen the body hanging that it drops on. I put it on my SL36 +4 "Crusader of the Deep" build with a Deep infusion, and holy shit it's amazing. The damage isn't anything exceptional on my build, but the combos and mix-ups allow for enough burst damage to easily take out a host. It's probably my favorite weapon right now.

I’v known how good this thing is for a while, but just haven’t thought to try out any new weapons with ds dying and all, guess I should try it out due to it being perfect for my play style. Guess its time to make people cry in agony even more than now. “REEE MIKKOTO DOES TOO MUCH DAMAGE AND KEEPS ROLLCATCHING ME REEE”.
The partizan was my PvP weapon of choice in DaS, and I was so happy to have it back in DaS3. Mained that since release.

The beauty of this channel is that it illustrates to me that underrated weapons are rarely garbage, its just that garbage players often use overrated weapons. The sprawling variety of weapons in these games is part what makes the series so replayable and rich. if a build is harder to play than a sword and board with havels set or takes some adjustment in play style, thats fine, its DARK SOULS and you probably should be acclimated to some learning curve by now.
I wish to see you earlier. These videos motivate me to return back to Dark Souls and try the underrated weapons. Thank you.
hey man, I really enjoy your content and style of commentary. a lot of slept on weapons in DS3 especially in favor of the meta, so when I saw the aquamarine dagger video it gave me the idea to use it for a INT/DEX build with friede's scythe. shit slaps
haven't really played souls much since the remaster, and prior to that i was really not engaged much with it (a lot of dragon ball fighters, superhot and PUBG) but i picked up DS3 a couple of days ago and fell right back in love. pre remaster though i definitely felt super burnt out from the series
underrated or plain overlooked weapons give a well needed refresher for some playthroughs. i just started a new playthrough, ill be basing it around this weapon now lmao

it's one of my favorite weapon, shares first place with Farron greatsword, and old wolf curved sword.
God i had so much fun with these weapon. So many options to fight, so many fun combo to land, just beautiful.
The Partizan is a real party with its constant mixups and options.
Although I would end up going with the Silver Knight Spear it's probably the primary reason why choose my first DS:R weapon the way I did; it has the spear meta game to keep people away from your back but it also has that R2 mixup to shut down certain behaviors that other spears struggle with.
This weapon has grown on me. Those R2 slashes are just so nice.

Another neat spear is the Dragonslayer Spear. The R2s come out very quickly and if you don't augment the weapon art with an R2 you get a ranged lightning attack.

I would love to see more! The Partizan is my favorite weapon in DS3 and now I actually understand why. I'd love to see you cover things like whips and other underused weapons.
I would like to add that you can follow up the R1 -> R1 -> R2 -> weapon art combo with a jumping attack which will connect if they roll backwards away from you. I did it a few times and hit between 1500 to 1800 damage.

I learned about the Partizan in DS2 because I was really into the Silverblack Spear back in that game, since it was such an amazing weapon, I wanted to see if there was another with a similar moveset..
When I bought DS3 at launch in my country, I found it, and was so happy to see the moveset I loved so much being expanded upon. This weapon is in my oppinion, of the true most underrated powerful weapons in DS3, the other underrated one being the Flamberge. :)
Also, has anyone ever tried the Greatsword or Straight Sword WA R1 followed immediately by the R2? It is really good at baiting and killing people. :P Did it a lot way back when with the Flamberge.
That's what I love about the pvp in this game pretty much every weapon is viable in some way
It's just unfortunate that it's ALWAYS more viable doing a quality build with a straight sword. Ds3 has the weakest build variety and weakest weapon utility of the series. No no no put the pitchforks down. It's just my opinion.
i remember post-launch running around with a 30/30 pyro build and a chaos partizan. i got called many bad things in psn chat after an anor londo fight club.

Partizan in Dark Souls 2 was a wonderful chunk of AR with some glaive moves thrown into it. In 3 it is less so, but similar.

Partizan is my main weapon with my build that I use through the series from dark souls 1-3, I absolutely love this thing with how versatile it is, pair it with a dagger for faster enemies or smaller spaces, you're ready for any fighting environment pretty much.
Also, shorter than the winged spear, but longer than the regular spear :P

i have 2000 hours on dks3 and partizan is honestly my fav weapon tied with BK Glave and ValorHart. I put Partizan in first place with these 2 other amazing but underrated weapons is because of how unique it is. a spear that has roll catch r2s, spear r1s and a beastly weapon art. Pretty much same reason for BK Glave R1s are nice to bait people towards you (plus has the shockwave and hyper armor) and the r2 can catch people so off guard. ValorHart also on the list because of the unique moveset, the parry shield bait, swap it out for a parry shield like IRS for the unsuspecting parries, and block attacks mid attack. My fav weapons of all time :)
I like the partizan. I haven't used it as a main weapon on a character yet (still working on beating the game for the first time), but I appreciate that it's got a stab as well as a slash.
