Sam. As a single dad in the amateur triathlon field who is just making ends meet,…you are an absolute inspiration. NOT because you win. Because you are able to prioritize your family life and your career in a way that celebrates each facet. The way you approach your job and your home,…is something to behold. I don’t care if you win. But I really hope I get the chance to watch you push yourself and have fun being a professional triathlete, a father and a husband. Don’t ever get too big. Be you. You give us all a great, somehow relatable thing to cheer for. Thank you! Inspiration. All the best.
Yes, life was different as a single parent and triathlete, but this is the reality because our children are putting our lives first. As I serve my country here in the Philippines, I can honestly say that I'm now a father. It's really difficult, Army 🌵🇭. Yes, I believe that my ambition of qualifying for Kona will one day come true, and he will one day be a superstar like you, bro. Next year, I will compete in my final Ironman event, the Davao Half Ironman. And my son, he will be the first Filipino to be supported by Kona, I swear to you.
05:34 - I love how the way that I think about my finisher medals is the way Sam thinks about the first-place ribbons. "Oh hey look at all these where I won first place" :) Thanks for giving us a glimpse into your life, it's inspiring!!
I ❤ babys. Nothing counts more. Beeing a father brings an extra boost. Sam, you are such a great guy, you have a top pro mindset. Roarmodel. I wish you and your family god's blessing.
Well your run strategy must have worked given T100 Miami 🙌 I appreciate the new dad insights. Not a lot of athletes and entrepreneurs talk about the new challenge in balancing the two
2024 sam will be crazy. From what you are saying, it seems like you will be focusing on the PTO series over IM series? Would love to see a video of you explaining what you are picking and why! Best of luck, legend!
Isn't it better to split the workouts evenly troughout the day ? At the moment you are stacking everything, i suppose it decrease the 2nd and 3rd workout quality. Maybe you swtich them up depedning on what workout you want to prioritize.
From what I can tell, he uses one screw that trek has back there for a rear light and two top quality zip ties lol. I have the same bike and that’s what I do. Trek needs to have some kind of factory mount…
Keep it up Brother, Fatherhood is a blessing. Love the mindset and the work ethic. Will you be competing in Tangier Morocco 2024? If so, I would like to invite you to join me there in August for training camp. I'm Dual Canadian-Moroccan citizen, and this will be my first Ironman comp. Please feel free to reach out, I will keep an eye out for your response. Best Jy
@sam just remember you and your girlfriend did this to yourself. No one made you have a kid at the crest of your career and without having being married first. I applaud you for trying to keep up with triathlon but I hope you put your son and wife first before all else.
From ,🇦🇺🦘 really enjoyed this video. And focussed in on your comments on training alone, adapting to availability of time, keeping mission at front of mind and building that push to push self alone. Keep it up, love it and inspires me for 98% of my training alone as an age group shift worker. Part of Mach Apparel Tri family 👍🏻

Love seeing the Tucson scenery on a snowy day in Boulder!
Love it! You guys are so lucky to have granny helping out. That’s huge.
Sam..I've following you since 2022 and just moved into Tucson. So great to see you ridding you bike on the same roads that I do !
Awesome it’s a great spot!
As an age grouper with some ambitions, full time worker and a dad of 11 month son, I find your feelings and concerns very own... Cheers Sam!
Cheers! 🥂
Your description of new dad feeling was on point, you are not alone.
Keep up the great work man!
Really, really liked hearing the "why" behind all your training decisions and adjustments. You are / will be a great coach!
Great job Sam. Looking forward to cheering you on in 2024.
LEGEND. Endurance Dads FTW, big fan.
You're killing it! 2024 is not ready for you 😤
That's a really dope track to train at

✊🏼 My friend! Hoo-Ahh!
You’re an unreal triathlete and an even better dad and man.
Thank you!
Nothing like a Sam Long video to get through some indoor training while it's nasty out.
Great video guys!!🎉 now we just need Cyrus full time in the desert haha
Yes we do! He can’t accept the new job
Good stuff enjoying the content and the honesty!

Beautiful to watch you progress!!

Keep that focus man! Rooting for you big time every race ✌🏼
That's a great insight for sure❤
Some of your best content! Keep it up! Do you ever listen to music when you train, particularly running?
I do on the bike but never running-unless on treadmill
Great video. Please tell us about the tent set up in the baby room!
Bring on 2024
Getting inspired! Thanks
You are not alone we are with you😅
Who films and edits for you? They do a cracking job
Good luck Sam! Tracker shows you didn’t start…hoping that’s an issue with your tracker. Rooting for you! Yo. Yo. Yo
Tracker issue
You fn rock, dude.
He’s damm cute! Keep it going pop! You got this!
Yo yo yo 🚀
Nice. Good luck sam
How do you avoid injury with that amount of daily training?
I am sure you will win today. No doubt.
Good job man
Sam, at your peak, if you went all out, how fast would you run 10km??
How’s the sleep?!?! I couldn’t get my sessions in cause I was literally getting 3/4 hours sleep every night for 1 year
Would love to see a full day of eating if you don’t mind?
What watch are you wearing on the bike?
Isn't it better to split the workouts evenly troughout the day ? At the moment you are stacking everything, i suppose it decrease the 2nd and 3rd workout quality. Maybe you swtich them up depedning on what workout you want to prioritize.
For me, no! I prefer a big rest period and stacking them doesn’t seem to affect me. And we stack them when we race. But everyone is different!
What shoes was he wearing for the run? Were those magic speeds?
Is the pace in miles or kilometers?
Sam, what do you think you can hit for an 800 top speed
Would have really liked this if you continued the video after the massage so we could see what the non training non glamorous hours looked like.
What mount system Sam has for behind saddle bottle cage?
From what I can tell, he uses one screw that trek has back there for a rear light and two top quality zip ties lol. I have the same bike and that’s what I do. Trek needs to have some kind of factory mount…
@@mikehammersley3489 yes exactly although it works very well and is the lightest option you could have

❤
why do you have the watch facing inward on the tt bike?
Because I can see it in aero position without turning my arm at all
Sam how many bike options do u have 😂
Yo yo yo
That's a long day.
Roads look very quiet
What was the rest on the 10 by a k?
It was a 200 meter jog done in around 70-75 seconds.
@@SamYoYoYoLong cheers big unit! 🙌
has anyone told sam he over rotates
when he over rotates on his left side his right leg kicks out to compensate

Sam great race..all you can ever do is your best..your best will never be good enough to win real big race because your swim is sucks
Running form is so pure🫨
Also do you like the ASICS more than vaporflys if so why? or just a sponsor situation?
I do like the ASICS more and this is why I went with them as a sponsor. I feel they are more stable and better in turns
